This was a hands-on science museum. I visited by myself, but it would be more fun to visit with a child. The children I saw were having a blast. The museum is in/on a pier. I took a Lyft there, so I didn't experience having to find parking. Limited food and drink available in a shop.

Such a fun place! There are hundreds of mini-experiments demonstrating a countless number of scientific concepts throughout the museum, mostly focused on mathematics and physics, but some chemistry and biology thrown in too. I loved how hands-on the museum was and how it brought back many concepts I haven't thought about since my college physics class. Definitely check out the adults-only evening hours, because it's even more fun (sorry kids)!

Fantastic place for children and adults. Lots of very interesting experiments in physics, chemistry and biology. The greatest impression on me was made by the section of strange sea creatures, carried out on site by the employees of the Exploration. Great location - many other attractions can be found nearby. Must-see during a visit to San Francisco

Great place to go with family but very expensive so only worth it if you stay more than two hours. DO NOT bother eating at their supposedly upscale cafeteria. TERRIBLE OVERPRICED FOOD.

Truly one of a kind museum. Every single exhibit is hands on, and appropriate for all ages. Many exhibits are actually made and meticulously maintained in-house. We didn't see a single broken exhibit during our visit, which is incredible given the amount of traffic and abuse.

This place is probably a lot larger than you'd expect, and could easily fill a day. Even with so many exhibits, it can get crowded, so try going during the off hours.

Great museum. The group I was with realized we were only 1/5th of the way through the museum after a few hours, i.e. everything was really interesting so we tried it all. Plan to go multiple times to experience it all, adults, kids, and families can all have a great experience.

Came here with my boyfriend, since we tend to go to museums often. And since we heard many good things about this place, we both decided to come here. We did come a bit late around 3:30pm (they close at 5:00pm). Everything that they have is interactive and all very interesting to learn about. They divided the place into sections, which helps guide you to where you would like to go. Would definitely love to come here again since we weren't able to experience everything. So do set aside around 2 hours or more to spend here.

I had so much fun and I'm a 28-year-old! We came here just two hours before closing and I wish we came earlier to have more time to see everything! I love that Californian teachers get in free! Thank you!

One of the most interesting museums I've ever visited (definitely beats Science Museum in London). So much to see and to interact with. For all ages. You won't get bored. There are also insightful talks throughout the day. On-site canteen serves delicious lunch with a great view of Oakland Bay bridge.

Love the Exploratorium. Tons of fun experiments to see, getting to touch all of the exhibits is really cool. i wish my girlfriend and I could've come on the adult only night, but even during the day with a bunch of kids running around, two adults can have a good time.

Really cool scientific museum. Many great things to play with and discover the science behind it. The staff are very helpful too. Don't be scared about asking them questions related to things that you check out, they will tell you everything they know about it and will make it fun as well.

Fun!

Lots of interesting science exhibits and interactive experiences. Easily could spend 4 hours or more here. Most of the exhibits explain why they are important or how/why it works like it does, which is refreshing. Good place to burn through an afternoon with kids, best for 6-13 yos probably.

Tons of small experiments one can operate on or participate in. Electricity, light and colors, mechanics, works of art - these are the highlights of the themes you can find here. My son especially liked that he can touch everything and observe interesting effects he can create by interacting with the props.

Dooooope. Pro-tip: visit before/while taking a physics class! I wish I had, they have a warehouse of lab equipment you can play with. Lots of kids, so go to the after-dark events if you want to avoid the short crowd :)

This place is so amazing it's a shame I only had 4.5 hours to spend here. The kids can easily spend hours just on one section, so if you can only visit once, make sure to pace yourself. Kids will really enjoy sections 2 to 5, so start somewhere there first. I personally learned a lot of things, especially in the electricity and magnetism section. I'm sure that both adults and kids alike will learn something useful so it is definitely worth a visit.
