Super creative exhibits. Science + art. Amazing for all ages.
Omg this place is so fun. I wish they had an adult version because I feel bad using all the gadgets when kids are waiting to play with then!!
Amazing. A must do. Great for kids and grow ups. Great to see and to touch. Will need at least 2 - 3 hours.
This was a hands-on science museum. I visited by myself, but it would be more fun to visit with a child. The children I saw were having a blast. The museum is in/on a pier. I took a Lyft there, so I didn't experience having to find parking. Limited food and drink available in a shop.
Go there on Thursday night for half the prize and see a lot of very interesting exhibitions.
Such a fun place! There are hundreds of mini-experiments demonstrating a countless number of scientific concepts throughout the museum, mostly focused on mathematics and physics, but some chemistry and biology thrown in too. I loved how hands-on the museum was and how it brought back many concepts I haven't thought about since my college physics class. Definitely check out the adults-only evening hours, because it's even more fun (sorry kids)!
Incredibly fun and educational for our kids and for us. We spent 3.5 hours there and only left because it closed. We easily needed at least another hour to see most of it.
Fantastic place for children and adults. Lots of very interesting experiments in physics, chemistry and biology. The greatest impression on me was made by the section of strange sea creatures, carried out on site by the employees of the Exploration. Great location - many other attractions can be found nearby. Must-see during a visit to San Francisco
This is the absolute coolest place! So much stuff to do!!!
Great to be a member! Nice to be able to do a short visit.
Great place for kids and adults. You can easily spend your whole day fiddling around with all the science contraptions, and also learn new things!
Exhibits mostly cater to children around 10 or so. Also, pretty expensive, especially if your just going for one exhibit.
Learn experience touch manipulate feel calculate hear see mechanical physics of particles wave lengths mirrors optics color dynamics plants water wheels self generated electric magnets and find out if you have the aptitude to be a physical scientist all in one day.
One of my favorite hands on science museums around - fun an interesting for any age
Big science museum with lots of hands on exhibits. If you plan to go more than twice a year, consider the membership to save money. Also, Sunday free parking in the neighborhood.
Fun Fun Fun. Even for not kids. I went with my friend (we're both 20+) and we stayed for hours.
This was a fun place. There a lot of cool interactive exhibits and you may even learn some stuff. We had the place rented out for a party. Alcohol makes the exhibits even more fun.
An extraordinary science museum, no matter if you are a child, teenager or adult, the experience of knowing science in a fun way, as you never thought before, is great. #LocalGuides
Great place to go with family but very expensive so only worth it if you stay more than two hours. DO NOT bother eating at their supposedly upscale cafeteria. TERRIBLE OVERPRICED FOOD.
Nice experience I recommend it for the little ones!
Truly one of a kind museum. Every single exhibit is hands on, and appropriate for all ages. Many exhibits are actually made and meticulously maintained in-house. We didn't see a single broken exhibit during our visit, which is incredible given the amount of traffic and abuse.
This place is probably a lot larger than you'd expect, and could easily fill a day. Even with so many exhibits, it can get crowded, so try going during the off hours.
Great museum. The group I was with realized we were only 1/5th of the way through the museum after a few hours, i.e. everything was really interesting so we tried it all. Plan to go multiple times to experience it all, adults, kids, and families can all have a great experience.
Adults should not pay for it. is of interest for 6 to 12 years max.
Love it. Nice place to take your kids or whole family to explore
Came here with my boyfriend, since we tend to go to museums often. And since we heard many good things about this place, we both decided to come here. We did come a bit late around 3:30pm (they close at 5:00pm). Everything that they have is interactive and all very interesting to learn about. They divided the place into sections, which helps guide you to where you would like to go. Would definitely love to come here again since we weren't able to experience everything. So do set aside around 2 hours or more to spend here.
I had so much fun and I'm a 28-year-old! We came here just two hours before closing and I wish we came earlier to have more time to see everything! I love that Californian teachers get in free! Thank you!
If you have children, it is an awesome place. As an adult, kind of boring.
Expensive and the attraction helpers were non existent just chatting between themselves
When I went here, they had an incredible exhibit where anyone could understand complicated science concepts in a hands-on type way. I learned a lot things that I took for granted.
One of the coolest place in SF! Strongly recommend this place. Perfect location, friendly staffs and amazing activities to explore. Should spend 2-3 hrs+ here
Simply great. You'd do best projecting spending a whole day. And btw you can go in and out all day with same pass. Really enjoyable for all ages.
One of the best museums I have ever gone to. Great for a date night at their "after dark" hours due to all of their partner oriented exhibits.
This place is such a cool place! Exploring and learning so much stuff here is all made fun this place has everything
One of the most interesting museums I've ever visited (definitely beats Science Museum in London). So much to see and to interact with. For all ages. You won't get bored. There are also insightful talks throughout the day. On-site canteen serves delicious lunch with a great view of Oakland Bay bridge.
Love the Exploratorium. Tons of fun experiments to see, getting to touch all of the exhibits is really cool. i wish my girlfriend and I could've come on the adult only night, but even during the day with a bunch of kids running around, two adults can have a good time.
Amazing museum with great exhibits, but expensive and often crowded.
The exploratorium is the perfect place to explore science and have a great time. The exhibits are both informative and fun.
Soooo interesting !!! If you have time it is very worth it ...
Very fun! Specially for grown-ups who didn't grow up :)
Such an amazing place for adults and kids alike. So many interactive stations on science concepts from electromagnetism to social pressure. Only downside is the cost.
Very good experiences, the first part is a little too big
Wonderful exhibits and so unique :) great for older kids & families, loved the Curious contraption exhibit A++
Incredible place for the entire family. Seaglass restaurant is gorgeous inside. Pricey, but actual food and adult beverages.
Great for kids. The expanded areas are perfect for everyone to play.
Really cool scientific museum. Many great things to play with and discover the science behind it. The staff are very helpful too. Don't be scared about asking them questions related to things that you check out, they will tell you everything they know about it and will make it fun as well.
It taught my whole family a lot and they all had fun with hands on.
You can spend days in this place! Great fun for kids and adults. Don't miss the Seaglass restaurant!!
Lots of interesting science exhibits and interactive experiences. Easily could spend 4 hours or more here. Most of the exhibits explain why they are important or how/why it works like it does, which is refreshing. Good place to burn through an afternoon with kids, best for 6-13 yos probably.
Good for kids. Ideal age is like 10 but kids as young as 2 will get enjoyment our of it.
Awesome place. Expensive to get in but worth it. clean. Very knowledgeable staff. Lots of interactive displays.
Tons of fun on a Thursday night. Bring friends and have a few drinks. The extra $10 for the tactile dome is well worth it!
Did NOT like all the science. Way too "sciency," but the bathroom had zero poop on the floor. Five stars.
Amazing place and even better than when I was a kid. Wear comfy shoes.
super crowded with the new location but still really fun
Tons of small experiments one can operate on or participate in. Electricity, light and colors, mechanics, works of art - these are the highlights of the themes you can find here. My son especially liked that he can touch everything and observe interesting effects he can create by interacting with the props.
Dooooope. Pro-tip: visit before/while taking a physics class! I wish I had, they have a warehouse of lab equipment you can play with. Lots of kids, so go to the after-dark events if you want to avoid the short crowd :)
It's free for unaccompanied minors so go and and have some fun
Frankly not remotely worth $30 admission. There are far better ways to spend $30 nearby. Much better museum and cheaper at the former location.
Best science museum we've been to and that's saying a lot bc we frequent many!
This place is so amazing it's a shame I only had 4.5 hours to spend here. The kids can easily spend hours just on one section, so if you can only visit once, make sure to pace yourself. Kids will really enjoy sections 2 to 5, so start somewhere there first. I personally learned a lot of things, especially in the electricity and magnetism section. I'm sure that both adults and kids alike will learn something useful so it is definitely worth a visit.
