This is a pretty upscale hotel. Close to the ocean and also has a nice private courtyard. The bedding and toiletries provided are fantastic, so the quality isn't concentrated on a few things, but instead everywhere. Complementary bottle of wine everyday apparently. Only real complaint is that there aren't too many outlets, so bring a travel charger with multiple ports.

Beautiful grounds, clean rooms. Thin walls so room guests next door can be heard talking clearly. Unfortunately a smell of sewage at our bathroom sink. Nice restaurants on the grounds with unique menus and cocktails.
Very clean facility semi rustic feel to it. Staff was always ready and willing to help in any way they could and the event coordinators were a very nice group of ladies 10 out of 10 would love to come here again.
Chelsey helped with our reservations and Sara was our event coordinator for a surprise 60th birthday party. Even with Covid-19 protocols the event ran smoothly and are stay was excellent! 10/10 would recommend!
Very upscale hotel. Attended a Christmas party here and it was very nice. Location is awesome, and the grounds very well maintained. Staff was plentiful and very helpful. The food we had was excellent and the valet was some of the best around. I didn't stay the night, but if I ever fall into a bunch of money, I will totally stay here sometime.
A carefree experience from start to finish with lavish amenities throughout. From valet parking, champaign greeting, spa robes and peaceful grounds rejuvenation is sure to follow at the Estancia. We recommend this to anyone visiting San Diego. For any reason.
Beautiful scenery and relaxing atmosphere. Perfect distance from La Jolla Village and Cover. The rooms are very nice and quiet. Mattress was a little uncomfortable because I could feel the springs, but bedding was just right. Room service is reasonably priced, but they let the dishes sit in the hallways far too long (more than 12 hours). Received excellent service at the hotel and spa.
There was one staff member in particular who was extremely rude. She was the larger Hispanic masseuse. The other lady, I believe her name is Karen, was super sweet. But this other masseuse was absolutely rude. She got upset that I was not relaxing during the massage. Mind you that it was my second time in my life getting a massage. Rather, she continued to lecture me and frustrated that I did not make HER experience a nice one. She recommended that I get more massages because I don't know how to communicate what I want. Sorry lady, next time I'll have experience before come here (if ever)
High end, by the fabulous Torrey Pines golf course and UCSD, so expensive but if you want to stay someplace near the school or the course I'd choose it over the La Jolla Village Drive area or the coastal La Jolla area.
Stayed in a garden view room. Very secluded for how dense the resort layout is. Nothing negative to say about the room or grounds at all! However the physical isolation of the location lends itself to eating in, and the restaurants are honestly good but oddly dissonant with the overall resort's attention to detail. Dinner at Mustangs and Burros was good but overpriced for the level of service. Breakfast was structurally good (amazing flavor) but the eggs were poorly executed. Generally too much cheese, and when I ask for eggs "over easy" I don't tolerate "sunny side up hard". Come for the grounds but dine cautiously.
I had dinner at the restaurant. It was kinda chilly and they kindly offered us blankets so that's nice. The food is great especially the sea bass. Service is great too overall 10/10 experience.
This is a very nice and relaxing resort. Because I didn t go to a meeting, the meal was delicious. The fly in the ointment is that transportation is not convenient.
Came here for a wedding this past weekend and had a one night stay and it has been one of the worse experiences ever.
We checked in and went to the self-parking lot. The recording clearly states that if you are a hotel guest (which we were) you need to pass the card key and leave it for three seconds so you could go in (otherwise there are parking hourly rates). We do that and it does not work. We pressed the help button and we explained to the operator that the card key was not working and she says in a very condescending and rude manner that there is a button to push to push it. We tell her that the recording says to use the card key and her reply to us is no you need to get a ticket and we tell her then you guys need better instructions to which she replies no, we don't.
After the ceremony, I needed to get something from the room really quickly and the key card did not work. Had to go to the lobby, they reprogrammed the keys and again the cards didn't open. Walked to the lobby AGAIN and tell me that they will send someone to check the door. They sent someone to the WRONG room. I noticed the hotel employee walking there and I stopped him that he got sent to check on a door but to a different room and I was like it is my room 146 I am waiting. It turns out that the battery in the door reader is the issue and finally gets fixed. I missed out on group pictures with my friends and the couple because of this issue.
Next day we go to the restaurant for breakfast and it took 20 minutes for 4 of us to get seated where there were 4 empty tables inside (picture)and other few in the balcony area. It wasn't like it was packed with people. It took 10 to 15 mins for someone to take our order and be offered at least a cup of water. We finally order and 20 minutes pass by and we get up and leave the restaurant. It took at least five minutes for someone at the restaurant to notice we had left and looked for us because the food was at the table and we weren't. We were so upset and told them we were not eating there any more. A few minutes later a manager came we told her what happened and she apologized but to be honest it did not make a difference.
Finally, as we're walking to my car to leave I notice the right (passenger seat) tail light is gone! COMPLETELY GONE (pictures). I believe someone stole it because my car was not hit, there weren't any broken pieces of the tail light on the floor or anything at all. It was taken off very carefully from what I can tell, the light bulbs are intact they actually turn on just the red cover of the tail lights gone. This happened on the Estancia La Jolla premises - their self-parking lot. When I arrived there my car had BOTH tail lights in perfect condition. I reported this incident during checkout and show them the pictures, a technician came over looked at it, took pictures, and gave me the security person card and that they would call me when they had looked over the security cameras. I did get a call same day, yesterday, a couple hours later that the security cameras did not catch anything ..that my car cannot be seen because a tree is in the way and that they are NOT responsible for anything at all since I used the self-parking and you park there under your own risk. That if I had used the valet parking it would be different but I didn't. I asked if I could get a copy of the report to see their findings and the security person said that they would not provide me anything unless it was subpoenaed.
The only good thing that took place there was the wedding of my dear friends but I will NEVER come back or recommend this place to anyone.
If you are looking for a 4-star hotel I suggest you look for a better option.
Great place to hang by the pool spa is pricey they will lone youchairs towles a d water bottles for the beach they willdrive you places within 5 miles of the hotel for a tip to the driver good food and drinks helpful staff clean rooms
Bad place and bad service. We have four rooms confirmed one month ago. The hotel suddenly cancelled our rooms when we checked in without any early notice, simply because of oversold. Really bad experiences.
The grounds were beautiful, the staff were friendly, and the location is awesome. Unfortunately the attention to detail in the room was lacking. There were cobwebs on the ceiling and lamps, and the bathroom sink did not drain properly
What a beautiful and peaceful place. The rooms are very nice, all of the staff were friendly, and the onsite restaurants served good food. They also provide a free shuttle to restaurants and shopping within a 5 mile radius. We will be back.
This hotel is elegant and rustic at the same time. Room service is impeccable. Great wine at the restaurant inside the hotel. Convenient parking free for guests.
Nice. Clean. Just stopped in to pick up friends. Room was a nice size. They also received a free bottle of wine with the room. Had a rip in a pair of pants sewing kit in worked perfectly.
I loved the beautiful Spanish style architecture ! The pool and grounds were also beautifully kept. Staff was also very courteous and kind. I would definitely recommend staying at the Estancia.
Great and friendly service!!! Beautiful pool and spa area. No need to leave. Quiet and large gardens that are enjoyable to walk through. Every staff person here is so enjoyable and friendly. Outdoor fireplaces are cozy in the evenings. The estate's wine is excellent. Beds are luxurious and comfy. I hope I get the opportunity to come back.
The food was good. Few heaters on the patio were broken or at least we were told that when we asked to be seated by the heater. The desert was slightly dry, but it might be us expecting mind blowing desert after the great 3 course meal.
The food at this restaurant is great, but the prices are a little high. The only entrees less than $20 were the $17 burgers. However, it is very scenic and has a large fireplace outside.
I attended a wedding there and the grounds are gorgeous, the rooms are nice and spacious, and the food was amazing, my only complaint is the bathrooms there are so poorly maintained. We went early to hang out with friends for the day and all the public bathrooms were so dirty. The bathrooms by the reception hall - the women's one there was water everywhere and it smelled awful, and the men's the sink broke so they turn off the water to the sink (there's only one) but kept the bathroom open.... Now I'm wondering how many guests didn't wash their hands after going to the bathroom and touched the appetizers and late night snacks.... Gross
Beautiful property. Carpet is a bit dated in some of the common areas but it is so nicely situated and the gardens are just beautiful. Lots of little areas to explore and see all over the property.
The room was huge! The wine included with the fee was a nice touch. I liked the pool area but didn't have too much time to hang out there since we only stayed one night. The 4pm check in time is the only downside to the hotel.
Beautiful Resort, Exquisite Restaurants, & Top Notch Customer Service!! Lisa was AMAZING at Mustangs & Burros! Would recommend this resort to all our friends & family
This is a beautiful hotel! The staff is extremely courteous and friendly, it makes you feel very welcome! Rooms and grounds are very well maintained. Great amenities, I would highly recommend!
A place of luxury, of the best hotels in the city, warm welcome and excellent facilities. Do not forget to visit the Salk Institute that is on the side.
The hotel was nice and the valets and front office staff was very helpful. Huge + was that we got 2 bottles of Vos water in our room every day at no additional cost and the Wi-Fi was free (altho it didn't work very well and was a pain to log onto every day).
The huge downfall was the housekeeping. One night I came to find that they did not change the sheets on my daughter's bed which were full of sand from the beach, instead they just made her bed and pretended that it was clean.... Another night I called to ask for towels and it took one more call and an hour and a half for them to be delivered.. I do give the front desk staff credit though because when I voiced my concerns they removed one night of valet fees - so at least they tried to turn the experience into a positive.
I ate at 2 of their restaurants, everything was very good, but also very expensive. Overall the Estancia is a beautiful place to stay and eat at, but only if you don't mind parting with a significant amount of cash.
This is my favorite place to stay near Dan Diego. Peaceful but fun with lots to do. The pool and outdoor bar is fabulous. We have all our adult vacations there. Restaurants are good too! I highly recommend it for R&R or a family getaway. Try the wine flight at their wine bar!
Checked in at night and the part-time overnight front desk person was useless and so slow. Parking gate and card keys were not working so we wasted a solid hour between arriving at the hotel to actually being able to go unto our room. Tall dark haired valet person was very kind and offered us water.
