They didn't correctly validate my parking for the work event I attended there, so I had to pay for parking and go through the trouble of getting reimbursed by my company. Otherwise, it was a nice visit.

This is a beautiful resort. I should mention that I've never stayed here... But I've been to a couple of events and I've met friends for happy hour at mustangs and burros. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. Food and drink has been highly enjoyable. And if you are visiting the restaurant valley parking is free!

Nice property but many shortcomings (areas much in need of maintenance)... Spa treatment very expensive ($180 for 50 mins)... Tried to charge 20% without asking... Massage was good but what I would normally pay $40 for. Then, even after getting parking ticket validated, they tried to charge $20 until we called the office.

Room was well equipped, and the grounds are beautiful. WiFi has a little spotty at times, but I was staying for a conference nearby so it can be expected. I would definitely stay here again given the opportunity.

Spanish resort-style dog-friendly hotel and spa. The property offers several manicured gardens, quiet seating areas, water features, fire pits, cabanas, pool and jacuzzis. There the casual in-room dining choices, a poolside bar and grill, coffee shop and a few more formal restaurant options as well. If you want to get out you will find yourself just minutes from the beach and historic downtown La Jolla shops and restaurant district. Keep in mind this is an older property and though the rooms are a bit dated they are clean, quiet spaces to unwind and escape

The campus and rooms are beautiful. Layout is a little confusing but getting lost gives you a chance to see how pretty everything is. The staff is extremely nice and so willing to help. Upon check out, we had 3 valet guys helping my family pack into the cars and they even gave us bottled waters for our trip back home. Oh and the lobby has free lavender lemonade and hibiscus iced tea. Didn't try the iced tea but the lemonade is to die for!

Stayed here for a few days and had no issues. Staff, both kitchen and experience, we're very helpful. Had no issues with the wifi even though there was a conference going on. Lunch and fibers were very good though breakfast was alright. Very close to areas of interest. Would recommend to anyone planning on visiting the area!

The hotel is beautiful and has a rustic but modern design to it. I was only there for an event in the ballroom and it was a nice venue but it definitely did not fit all of us. I would say some parts of the hotel seemed a bit older but it is overall a gorgeous hotel

Nice hotel, but they closed their restaurant an hour before the listed time on their menu, and made no attempt to accomodate me. Staff seemed put off that I bothered to raise this to their attention. First said I was wrong, then said the menus were wrong. Not good.

READ THE REVIEWS!!!!!!! I swear on my mother I will NEVER book a hotel after this without reading the reviews. Good and Bad. I have so much to say but I am not the type to write BAD reviews.

To WARN future costumers the rooms will disappoint you. To provide context, I travel quite a bit all over the world. I know a good resort when I see one. And this one was basic.

Not at all worth the money, the landscaping is beautiful and the air is fresh. That s where it stops. Customer service was a C. Dining a C. Rooms would make a C however for the price it s a D. We could ve spent $100 on rooms at Sheraton.

Guy s me and my lady haven t been anywhere in months due to the COVID restrictions and just being cautious. Never coming back!! And Never NOT reading reviews AGAIN!!!

This is a gorgeous property with beautiful gardens and courtyards. The guestrooms and suites are spacious and well appointed. The onsite restaurants are excellent. We especially liked the proximity to the beach (walking distance). Beyond all the above, all of the staff, from the front desk to restaurants are wonderful. I highly recommend Estancia!

The hotel management had responded positively to my inputs, apologized the inconveniences and vowed to improve their services. I will definitely try again. Thanks.

Horrible bad first time experience!

The official checkout time is 12 noon. When I returned to my room around 11:15am during the conference break, I was locked out due to a defunct room card.

I had to go back/forth between the room and the lobby for at least 4 times to get a technician help.
It was such a long distance between the room and lobby. The technician told me their policy is to disable the room key before 12 noon. The lobby however denied such policy,

The lobby was especially unfriendly. When I told them I would give them a low rating, they replied " Go for It". So I decided to write this review!

Super high ratings on Yelp and TripAdvisor. Obviously, the reviewers are somehow connected to the owners or managment. Average couples massage and the pool area provided as part of the spa package was crowded with rambunctious children. It's not the kids fault, its management's.
$450 for a couples massage. We left immediately after. Don't waste your money because it's a high rated "La Jolla" spa. Its average, at best!

One of our favorite happy hour and dinner spots. Little pricey but the patio is so relaxed, makes you feel like your on vacation. Food is really good and drinks are perfect. Try an Irish mule or margaritas. Both are house specials. We have also done a stay cation here. Rooms are very nice!! Spa was just ok. They forgot out us and we spent a few hours waiting. May try again. Overall just about every experience has been exceptional.

We were lucky to spend a week here among the beautiful cacti in this gorgeous resort. The hike we took with our wonderful guide Brett was really informative but also just filled us with the maybe we should move here Feels! The spa is dreamy and if you are a guest go see Anna for a pedi or mani or both like I did. Enjoy the steam bath and the whirlpool in a luxurious garden. I felt like a zen human after soaking in all the goodness here.

***DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU HAVE PETS***

***DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU HAVE PETS***

Although this hotel allows pets, it has an extremely restrictive pet policy. According to this policy, guests may not leave their pets unattended at any time (even if in a crate) in the room. This restricts guests with pets from using most of their resort amenities (which they are charged a daily resort fee for) like the pool, hot tub, or gym. I completely understand why pets are not allowed in these areas, however, management SHOULD allow guests to leave their pets in their rooms while using these amenities. I have stayed in many other similar hotels, all of which allow guests to leave their pets unattended while not in the room. This hotel seriously needs to rethink their pet policy or get rid of it completely.

The front desk attendant was mildly unprofessional and the room had a musty smell. The pool area was in disarray with tables and chairs strewn about at random. The only aspect we were satisfied with was the bottle of wine (which was paid for with our resort fee).

If you are looking to stay at a nice resort, this place is not for you.

Relatively small but cozy Hotel & Spa, the decoration is rustic country style but elegant, the attention is very personalized for being a small place. Place to relax Close to shopping and business centers in the San Diego area.

Accommodations are nice but the staff were a bit discourteous at times, and the pool area felt too small for the number of guests/rooms. There was also not much organization at the pool - had to go around to chairs with leftover towels and ask people if they were in use. Perhaps I've been spoiled by other hotels, but I would have expected someone from the staff to be assisting with seating.

One excellent exception was M. at the pool bar, who helped procure a bag of ice for my wife's injured arm.

Perfection in every sense! I wanted to take my boyfriend somewhere relaxing and opulent for his birthday and happened to come across a Groupon for Estancia La Jolla Hotel and Spa. I took it as a sign and after much research I decided to book a reservation here. The Groupon included a one night stay, appetizer or dessert of your choice and a bottle of wine.

It's inconspicuously located betwixt the Pacific Ocean, UC San Diego and Torrey Pines golf course. All the aforementioned indicate an exalted environment. Once you're on the premises you are instantly hit with an aura of welcoming privacy. The valet was urgent yet calm in their approach to the car and the front desk staff was sincerely polite and friendly. We were greeted with complimentary margarita vouchers, the free wine and dessert voucher included in our groupon AND champagne! All the makings of a spectacular greeting.

The hotel grounds was truly breathtaking. Lush green grass, succulent shrubbery, horizon tickling trees every element rhythmically created the sense of an isolated Rancho Estate. The pool area was by far one of my favorite of its many amenities. The cabanas allowed for privacy while while the pool beckoned social interaction. The jacuzzi, equally enchanting, was the perfect remedy for the crisp-cool fall air. Our visit was during off-season so the experience was amplified by the peaceful voidness.

The rooms were charming. We were fortunate enough to get a handicap deluxe room so their was plenty of space. The bed was adorned with supple pillows and an incredibly plush comforter which provided an almost womb-like coziness . All the ingredients for a tranquil slumber.

What was wonderful was the entire hotel seemed like your own personal estate. It was pretty barren of hotel guest from what I saw, but they had plenty of staff to aide and assist at all times. Everyone was so helpful and friendly from the front-desk to the on-site restaurant. Everything about this place is perfection and I would love to go back!

Highlights
-amazing pool area
-friendly staff
-onsite computer lab with free guest printing
-beautiful landscape
-relaxing and enchanting spa
-cozy and cuddly beds

Wonderful spa! My favorite of any I've been to. There is a private zen garden with a Whirlpool, and a serene waiting lounge. Excellent hot stone massage.
You have access to the pool area as well and I had lunch there after my appointment.

My husband and I stayed here a few weeks ago. Noticed a $350 charge on our account yesterday. Called the hotel and requested an itemized receipt as of why, as this entire trip was paid for beforehand. FYI - you ll be charged $30 each time room service cleans your room. I never asked them to clean the room, nor was aware of a $30 charge. They also charge you to park on location which is BS and a resort fee ? Wth. None of this was disclosed, and I m not being charged until almost a month later which was a nice surprise when my bill payment bounced. In addition to this scam, the hotel was a disappointment. The pools are very small and the entire resort style is just a fancy way to say it s setup like an apartment complex. Honestly I ve stayed at apartments nicer than this place. Rooms are not special .. very basic and bland and a complete waste of money. It feels like an apartment complex and I wasted my money and time. I spent almost 2K in total for a 3 night stay. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Or stay at your friend apartment and get the same experience!

Amazing hotel. Beautiful sceneries. Blend (the hotel coffee shop) was amazing. Mustangs and Burros (the hotel restaurant) was amazing as well. Very modern. The rooms were very clean and I was impressed with the amenities. The pool had salt water which I read is good for the body. Very considerate. I really recommend this place for weddings or even just a getaway.

Attended wedding and reception at the hotel. Service was excellent. I ordered the fish, which was dry and not very flavorful. My husband ordered the steak which was cooked more on the rate side. They also did not provide steak knife. Coffee was excellent, my husband thinks about it to this day.

My husband and I agree that Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa is THE VERY BEST!!
From Chris and all the people who parked and delivered our car, Jessica, the desk clerk, Rebecca at the Spa - wonderful massage - to Marcus our server at the restaurant, everyone was so very warm, kind and welcoming. We can't wait to go back!!

Nearly zero COVID precautions being taken at this ...

Nearly zero COVID precautions being taken at this beautiful place.

Masks not enforced at all and most guests are not wearing them outside on the property. I saw zero staff disinfecting anything let alone high touch places like elevators, door handles, pool area etc. Not once. Nothing. No one. Aside from one of the restaurant s placing some of their outdoor seating six feet apart, there were no meaningful measures being taken at the eateries. Some were even seated inside and not with any meaningful distance between parties. The staff wore masks, but if the entire rest of the the hotel and its guests don t have to, what sort of protections are being provided to anyone really?

We ended up down here last minute to get our small son out of the air quality of Northern California wildfires. I called ahead to ask about the COVID-19 precautions posted on the website. We wanted to know what exact measures were being taken since we have been pretty conservative with the pandemic and this would by far be our most exposure. We were told that the hotel was taking all measures stipulated by the CDC and Governor s office, including requiring everyone to wear masks on the property, disinfecting repeatedly high touch areas throughout the day, physical distancing of anything in communal areas. Not so. Not even close.

The pool looks like they did not move a single thing and there is by no means six feet of distance between anyone. It was packed. (You need to walk through there to get to the parking lot.)

And again although the staff was masked and working really hard, no one disinfected any table or lounger or seat or rail or door handle once. They seemed understaffed and overwhelmed by the crowds. We kept checking for a lull in the crowd to take our son for a dip when we first got here, and when we found it, we didn t stay long once we realized that there was zero enforcement of any precautions. It is seriously as though there is no pandemic raging throughout this state and country at this hotel. La la land for sure. Very disappointing and frankly, irresponsible.

When I asked a couple of staff if there was actually a masks requirement in place they said that there was but that they didn t feel empowered to enforce the rule with guests.

That is management issue. If management was serious about health precautions for their staff and guests, the staff would feel more confident and compelled to enforce it. We have since retreated to our room and minimize any use of public spaces. The only reason we are giving a second star is because the staff is lovely and working so hard and want to do the best thing for their and everyone s health. And because the property is beautiful and under regular circumstances, would be an incredible place to stay. Just do not come here now if you care for your own, your family, or any of the hard working people employed here s health.

Beautiful property right on the ocean - hotel staff is friendly and efficient. Breakfast buffet has something for everyone - eggs, fruit, oatmeal, interesting frittatas, etc. Wines are spectacular. Love the atmosphere of Mustangs and Burros for casual dining. Outside area is comfortable. Heaters made it easy to sit around enjoying a glass of wine and chatting with friends.
