My mother is a resident of the Independent Living Section of Elim Park Place. I am so grateful for the genuine care, concern, and understanding every single member of the Elim Park staff -- from the CEO and executive leadership in nursing and independent living to the ALSA home aides and culinary staff - has shown for her during this extremely challenging year. The CEO always emphasizes in his oral and written communications with residents and their family members that Elim Park Place is a mission-driven institution fueled by the desire and intent to "Honor God in all we do." What has become clear to me over the year that my mother has lived at Elim Park is that this mission statement is not a remote, pie-in-the-sky aspiration, but a true polestar. In so many ways, big and small, I have seen faith, hope and love in action in this community, under the most trying of circumstances. Thank you and God Bless!

Friendly place. Everyone seems so happy. Lots to keep you busy. Food is great. Shows at Nelson Hall are fantastic. When I retire I would enjoy living here.
My mother stayed at Elim Park for a few weeks. The amount of work the aides have to do vs how much staff they have are unbelievable. At times there are only 1 or 2 aides working with 20-30 residents on one floor. Its so unreal how many times my mother has pressed her call button and no one to be found. Her nurses needs to be reminded why they are nurses in the first place. They are VERY rude and disrespectful. Dinner is a joke, they do not give enough food they are starving those patients and it is sickening. They went from a 5 star down to a 1 star. Management always tried to please us so we don t bring our complaints further but you can see they dont mean what they say. State needs to re evaluate immediately Elim immediately because it is too much. My mother did not fully heal but we took her home immediately. Could not do another day further. They were never on time with her medication, aides made her feel very uncomfortable speaking another language which i told them multiple times not to, many times they forgot to bring her to dinner. How you forget someone i do not know but they managed multiple times to do so. There were times i had to come to Elim just to make sure she had her meal. Its sad what they do to these residents/patients but something seriously should be done. It is only going downhill from here.
As a nurse contractor, this is the best facility I've worked at. Patients and family concerns are addressed in a timely manner, while prioritizing. Food service is excellent and facility is clean. Keep up the good work! I have no affiliation with this facility. Diodio Casset
Rehab nightmare for our elders. I was SO nervous when I heard my grandmother had to go to a rehab center instead of going home with rehab visits and someone recommended here bc my worried she would die from a rehab which my nightmare came true. She was a woman who always took care of herself until she had to be in the arms of the healthcare system.
I ll start by the aid who took care of her was terrible and possibly was the one who caused my grandmother death at the end with poorly transferring her. The Hoyer life is for the safety of the staff but there are a number of injuries with the machine and I believe they should change this. The nurses aren t attentive, they look at there chart more than asking or trying to communicate with my grandmother. They didn t know if she ate or not and still give her meds so they can make sher to check it off. Meds without food can destroy stomach lining and it happend to her as well as bleeding from one organ (don t know where this came from after a clear scan).
Secondly, the lack of integrity and dignity for the elders including my grandmother. The aid LIED to me when I went to visit my grandmother and she brings her food with just putting it in front of her not saying a word and walks to the next patient next to her and greets her with the meal because my grandmother didn t speak English and only speaks Italian. She still can FEEL rudeness and unwelcomed. Broke my heart! The lie comes in when I saw my grandmother dinner choices didn t look like something she would Order and when I asked the aid who ordered this.. she right away said her daughter called it in. Later ,I found out from my family they never got asked for her meal. If the aid was lying about something like this, IMAGINE WHAT ELSE she lied about. Other days I come to visit, my grandmother was in her wheelchair with the bathroom door wide open in her face touching her wheeled table and the end of her wheelchair footrest. No dignity!! My poor grandmother who had no voice to tell them was starring at a back of a bathroom door for god knows how long. This place mental affected me and I work at an assisted living for memory care. I understand these feelings for someone who can t vocal. In this case language was the issue and this country needs to deleope a translator to give them the ability to have a voice. She became so depressed there and would ask me when can you take me out of here. She didn t like it and I can only imagine why. Breaks my heart so badly I loose sleep knowing her last days on this earth was at this location before the hospital. The rehab doesn t encourage them to try to stand and it s only in the morning. What is a rehab community for?!
Bottom line, stay away from this rehab and I will spread the word to the entire assistant living community I work for and professionals in the industry in honor for my grandmother who didn t have a voice. I will make sure she does now.
Seems great during the day but go visit your family at night. It is rough and depressing. People sit for hours requesting help but get none. during the day it is busier with more staff. It was awful. I would give a 1 star but I know the major staff people are good people and try.
I have been at Elim Park since April 2, 2019. Broke left ankle and right foot so could not weight bear until last Friday. Everyone from the CNA's, Nurses, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Admissions, Maintenance and whoever I forgot, has been wonderful. Just excellent care!!! I will be leaving at the end of the week which have prepared me for. Let Phase II of rehab on my feet begin. Thank you Elim Park.
I was so excited about my first interview, post receiving my CNA certificate, and doing 102 hours of clinicals. Never the less the experience was awful , unprofessional and treated horribly. Here's what happened: I was asked to fill out the application pre interview, I was contacted by the DOA of nursing ( Janice) I showed up 15 mins early ( the interview was for 11am I showed up at 10:45am ) with my career portfolio, CNA certificate , my PPD, everything that was asked of the requirements met. The interview lasted about 45 mins. I asked when will I have an answer, Janice ( DOA) replied by the end of the week( Friday I'll call you with my answer) keep in mind the whole time she asked me what hours would I like and she'd start me off with 30 hrs. Okay no problem, fast forward to Friday day of the phone call, another woman called me whom I've never met, never spoke to didn't even know who this person was. So instead of Janice ( DOA) calling me herself, she threw me to the wolves, instead her telling me that she decided not to give me the position, she relays the message to this person and this person goes well she said you don't have enough experience. It was awful, it was very unprofessional and a horrible way to treat a human being. It was an awful way to handle a decision like that. In this time of need if we don't give people chances so they can craft their skills how would they expect to get the overall experience. I am a state tested CNA the way I was handled and thrown to the wolves was unfathomable. I was offered a watered down position with less pay from from another person after I spent 42$ in an uber applying for the CNA position, why would I take a lower position after I went through 12 courses and 102 clinical hours of Nursing Assistant classes. I just want to share my story how horrible it made me feel with the unprofessional way I was handled .
Such a Beautiful View that I had from my room I was able to look at vegetables growing. see the ducks and chickens every morning along with watching the sun come up I couldn t asked for more I think I had one of the best room view.
As mentioned by another reviewer there is a shocking difference between the residential area and the rehabilitation / convalescence facilities of Elim Park. While it appears the residential is their pride and joy, the convalescence faculties are horrid. My mother had a two week stay at Elim following a joint replacement surgery, and the neglect and unprofessionalism I witnessed was abhorrent. She was not properly fed and lost 30 pounds during her stay, while everyday she was promised a vegetarian meal, the kitchen never followed the plan, at meal times she was informed they never prepared for her what was on the plan, instead she was handed a bouillon cube or a pile of grey green beans. Our family realized they weren't feeding her properly and brought in a stack of frozen dinners for her meals. The neglect continued as these meals were plopped down in front of her still frozen and inedible.
Across the hall, a man choked and died while eating his meal. The staff failed to save his life and wheeled him, dead on the bed, through the hall in full sight- uncovered with his mouth hanging open. There was no oxygen on his face to even give the illusion they tried to save his life. If that isn't revolting enough the staff laughed and made jokes "don't choke now okay? haha" in the days following the mans death.
I heard the staff openly complain and speak unprofessionally, loudly discuss and complain about patients right outside their doors. I overheard another patient ask to be put on the commode because he was too weak to make it to the bathroom to which the nurse told him "she was tired too" and "on shift since (time) in the morning" and "I'd like to lie around all day like you do" ! One day a folder containing all the patients medical files was carelessly dropped and just laying there scattered in the hall for anyone to see. They ignore the call button and leave the patients without assistance for long periods of time, left to fend for herself days after surgery, weak from no food, my mother injured herself enough to require an X-ray. They continued to dose her with blood pressure lowering pills, when her pressure was reading 80/50. Another patient complained about a nurses treatment to a superior and we heard that nurse comment "oh yeah she's going to complain about me? let's just see if I come next time she calls", that she was going to 'give' her something to complain about. For three days my mother complained about pain deep in the back of her calf and the nurses did not care enough to ensure it was not a life threatening blood clot, they said they "assumed it was pain from the surgery", which given the location of the pain makes no sense. We had to force them to order an ultrasound, than waited another full day for the ultrasound tech to show. Confined to bed rest while waiting for the ultrasound she asked for a female aide to clean her after using the bed pan, she was told no. She was horrified and wept uncontrollably, as a male aide exposed and wiped her against her wishes. I could go on.. I hope our truth prevents another soul from being neglected in this same manner. Elim park and the State of CT needs to do a serious assessment of their facilities.
Great Facility! Earlier this year my dad went to Elim Park after spending almost 9 months in the hospital and having a leg amputated The care that he received at Elim was fantastic. Staff was pleasant and really took a liking to my father. From the admin staff to the nurses, aids to rehab everyone was great! Thanks so much for all you did for my father while he was in your care.
My 91 yr old mother, (has a very clear mind) went the rehab section when she broke her hip in Nov. In Jan. she moved into in the nursing home section. When she first arrived all she did was cry. The staff explained this happens often with seniors when they are moved. They worked with us to get her new meds and her regular meds given to her to get the optimum results. The activities people provide a wide range of activities and she picks what she wants to participate in. She seems happy and looks great.

My 87 yr. old brother-in-law was a pt. in the rehab facility recently for several weeks. During that time, $1250 was stolen from him. To date, the money has not been recovered nor has he been reimbursed. I have made several calls to Elim Park with no resolution and at times, no response at all. 2 weeks ago, I wrote a letter to the President/CEO and again, no response. Apparently, the philosophy of this facility in handling serious, patient issues is to ignore them. SHAME ON YOU, ELIM PARK.
A good friend of mine applied here for some jobs. Receptionist, dietary aide and some other positions. Mind you she has a lot of customer service, retail and medical assisting skills - this place shunned her many times ( which seems a bit cruel) she will no longer apply here and I will let others know not to apply here ( they seemed disresotful too when she would follow up) Their loss!!!!
Mom cleared to live home alone following stroke and rehab at elim park. Two months later very serious fall at her home alone. Was told she could not rehab there again because she was a fall risk? What? Big error elim, she never should have been allowed to go hone alone. When brought to ceo attention, family told it was nurses final decision. They are not interested in caring properly in my opinion. They put moms life at risk and then did everything they could to cover it up.
Elim Park provides excellent care in the rehab center. The cleanliness and amenities are also top notch. My father stayed there for a couple months in 2019. The nurses were kind and friendly and the entire staff went above and beyond to help create a very special and memorable day for my father during a family event. Thank you for helping to make his stay there a happy one. -Doug B
I would not recommend volunteering here in the kitchen department because they LIED about me and said I was not doing my work in the kitchen when I clearly was. Whenever I asked them for something to do it took them 20 minutes just for them to tell me to cut up some food in put it in a pan. When I spoke up and said to my teacher I didn t want to be there anymore she said she would look into it and a week later she comes to me and says that they don t want me back anymore. The head chef named MICHEAL and FRANK never had a problem with me and never said anything to me before but all of a sudden wanna say something now.
Beautiful Inside! I was beyond impressed. The Staff was so friendly and although I didn't try the food, it smelt amazing! It's a place worth checking out for sure!
