Good food but really I only ever come here to get drunk
Use to be so tasty, now it's overpriced subpar food.
They are doing a great job during COVID. My favorite dishes are the veggie fajitas and the enchilada salad. Enjoy!
Great food. Great prices. Great service. What else do you need?
Great food and great atmosphere. Great service with friendly staff
I highly recommend this restaurant. If you want authentic Mexican food, it's a great place to go!!!!
Great food, good Margs, lots of history. Might be some live Mariachi in the evenings :)
Delicious Mexican food! I had the chili relleno and chicken enchilada and loved them both. Very large portions. Our food server kept our drinks topped off. Chips and salsa were tasty!
Only reason I didnt give them five stars is the pricing is extremely high. No smaller-portion, priced lunch specials.
The building was worth seeing. The service was very fast and friendly. The food was tasteless.
Very nice ambience. Food was above average the pricey. It was not unique in anyway. Test wise hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurants are better. It is still a very classy place when it comes to decor.
Love this place! If you are a history buff, you will want to visit this place. The food is excellent too. I will definitely be back.
Super Great Service and Food.
The Restaurant is Beautiful and singular.
I highly recommend it...!!!
We're had a holiday party there and it was a wonderful setting with great foods and drinks.
It's the best Mexican restaurant there !!! And we love our chef Carlos there.
Tasty, authentic Mexican food. Flan was especially great!
Just OKay. Tortilla soup is good and the tacos are OKay.
All I can say is....AWESOME!! The service in the cantina and the food was terrific. The best place in San Juan
Authentic Mexican restaurant you have to have. Get the table guacamole!
Wasn t to happy with the food. Way to expensive for the quality we received. Pork was dry and salty, couldn t even finish the dish.
Went to a wedding here. Nice venue, good food and bar, the moving ceiling makes for an epic night.
Nice Location for a wedding or event. Mexican food homestyle quality fine atmosphere
Excellent service by the wait staff. Food was delicious, I had the enchilada salad with chicken. The cilantro pepita dressing is light and flavorful. The salad is a satisfying meal because it includes the cheese enchiladas on top. The coconut margarita was served on the rocks and refreshing, not too sweet.
The taco Tuesday special day is probably the best value for this place. Specials on tacos and beer, otherwise it's a fairly expensive restaurant where you pay for the location. Service could also be more attentive.
Great place. Great atmosphere. Great service. Great margaritas. Great food.
Kept alive by tourists. "You can fool some of the people..." Food tastes canned and sauces are bland. Gringolandia. Authentic? Try El Campeon!
Really delicious, authentic food. Very friendly staff, lots of seating. Make sure you show up hungry.
The setting was beautiful, the food was extremely good and the service was amazing!! You made a fun occasion truly memorable! Thank you so much!
Food is Amazing and the service is top NOTCH!! I love the ambiance
Pretty mainstream Mexican restaurant, but the ambiance makes of this historic place makes it something special.
This place is amazing. The food was fantastic and it was the best service I've ever had
This was such a wonderful experience. We went on a day trip on the surfliner from Fullerton. Picked up a friend in Irvine and this restaurant was around the corner.
Loved everything. I had the El Jefe Skillet. Just wow! Came to the table sizzling. It had red potatoes, nopales and carnitas. Our waitress kept us in drinks. She was so good. The desserts were awesome for a Mexican restaurant. Usually it's just flan. But I had the tres leches cake and my friends all had the carrot cake.. HUGE carrot cake with vanilla bean ice cream and whipped topping. I should have taken pix of our plates. They were beautiful.
The best part of the day was the mariachis! Took me back to the days when mom would hire them to come over for parties at her house. This band was soo good! They took our request to sing Rosa Maria and I nearly cried! Perfect rendition! Then, when I was in the restroom, taking my sweet time, I heard them start to play Cielito Lindo! I had to run out to clap with them. I am so bringing the hub here.
Exceelent place to eat real Mexican food, I love it
The food of the restaurant the champion is very rich!)
Great Food! Great Service! Friendly Staff. We ve been coming here for years and they have yet to disappoint. We Love the Atmosphere and decor. I highly recommend this place.
The food was delicious and the staff very attentive
The chips and salsa are incredible, it's hard to stop and amazing how attentive the servers are to keep them replenished for free! The atmosphere is great, food is good and overall a nice dinner.
This mexican restaurant is way over rated. The service was poor and they were far from busy. Maybe they were slow because they charge $14.00 for a quesadilla!!!!! You have got to be kidding me. Never again!!!
Eat President Nixon's favorite meal! He had an appetite to eat all of that. Nice place. Good atmosphere. Decent Mexican food but not great.
This is a good place to celebrate a great event and enjoy a delicious meal
Great food and wonderful service! Well worth a visit. My suggestion is get the table made guacamole and a top shelf margarita on the rocks. Always wonderful.
Food was absolutely delicious! Large portions at reasonable prices! !
Great service food was amazing atmosphere authentic enough said the harp player was in a class all his own we had the opportunity to enjoy big Thank you
Love the happy hour on Tuesdays, and the history of the restaurant property. Service is great too
Love this place. Especially the bar. Pedro is a great bartender and mixes a good drink. The tablesude guacamole consisted of two whole avocados. I needed some friends to help us get through it.
Very good food and atmosphere. Service is excellent.
Ambiance is a 4.;The food is a 3.5. The staff is great.
Beautiful historical location and ambiance, great margaritas, good service. Food was meh. I would recommend for happy hour or drinks.
A very popular local Mexican restaurant. They have an open bar, a banquet area, and a number of dining areas.
My family had a great meal at El Adobe. Everything was perfect. We were seated in the jail cell/cellar, which made a great and unique experience. Be sure to have reservations, as they always seem busy.
Slow service. Bugs crawling on the ground. Food was okay but way over priced.
I came here expecting to be blown away with authenticity, but soon found out it was quite the opposite. The food isn't terrible, but it isn't authentic. It tastes like any other americanized Mexican food. Staff was friendly and had great customer service.the food was a bit pricy for what you get though
A little long wait time, but well worth it. The president choice platter was delicious and filling. Fried ice cream is awesome.
Staff friendly, manages time well, food gets out fast.
I'd be coming back in the future
Its a nice place to eat, the food is great. I ordered molcajete. It is was delicious, the staff was friendly. The only thing i did not like was that there was a 40 min wait to get a table inside when i did see anybody ahead of me. So we decided to go to the patio to not wait. It was a rainy day, they have heaters outside but i would've preferred to sit inside.
Most excellent food! Great parking in back. Dr pepper was flat but iced tea was good. I'll be back...
Service is slow, a lot of empty glasses and chip baskets throughout the evening. The water tastes like it's straight from the tap, clorine and all. Multiple visits with the same results.
Service: Excellent. Very attentive server.
Food:. Excellent. Many choices. Favorites for me at the various fajitas. Shrimp. Steak.
Location: located in the heat of San Juan Capistrano. Plenty of parking in the back.
Covid-19: place is open for service with solid safer practices put in place.
Kinda slow service tonight, there was a late wedding reception, but they were very apologetic and the food was simply Delicious!!!
The food was good and they have a live Mariachi playing right now
Food was the best,we totally enjoyed.parking in back.
Due to covid19 restrictions the dinning was outside in the yard and it was beautiful ambience with lush green trees. Great service and excellent food!
I love this place. The guacamole is to die for!!!!! I recommend this restaurant to everyone who visits San Juan Capistrano.
Great food and service. Interesting historic adobe building converted into a restaurant and event venue. Definitely a destination place if you are a tourist. Prices are a bit high, but the quality is always good.
First went to el adobe in 1971 great food then great food now... Rumor has it that when president Nixon was in San Clemente. He would dine el adobe ...lots of history in this place glad to see its still going.......
Good mexican food at good prices. Often there is a wedding to watch, and that's fun too!
Great atmosphere and the food is way better that before. Love it!
