Great Service, delicious and authentic Mexican food. Loved the place I recommend it.
My first time was my LAST time. Save yourself the heart ache, please don t plan any type of event here. Management doesn t know what they are doing and there are safety issues, especially in the court yard. The food is like day old Taco Bell.
Beautiful facility, friendly staff and excellent service. President and Pat Nixon's favorite Mexican restaurant, amazingly varied menu, delicious food and beverages. First time visit for me, I will definitely be back often!
Classic Mexican restaurant, beautiful good menu, great vibe
We ordered the lobster empanadas, albondigas soup, and carnitas when we visited for lunch. My girlfriend loved the lobster empanadas but personally i thought they were just "okay"the worst part though was getting albondigas with meatballs that were not cooked through all the way, i had albondigas literally two days before this i know what's it's supposed to be like. The carnitas was very very very dry and had probably been sitting under a heat lamp or in the oven too long, the rice and beans were really good though. The service was one of the strong points here, they were very attentive and apologetic when things went awry. I think i may have just caught them on an off day, I'll probably give it another chance.
The avocados used in the guacamole were not ripe. Carne asada in tacos was room temperature but also burnt so it was dry and flavorless. Chips and salsa were ok. Service was slow.
Good food, very nice waiters and decor, Overall One of my Favorites
History, if any thing else come for the history of this restaurant. This Adobe, built in 1797 by Miguel Adobe has seen alot of change. Read their history on their web site. Good Cal-Mex food, margaritas, and service. Weekends can get busy, parking in back. Located in the heart of San Juan Capistrano, a block from the mission.
Dined inside for dinner and was lucky to watch a wedding in progress.
The music was lovely and enjoyed while we ate tacos and enchiladas.
Authentic and tasteful food.
Our servers had excellent customer service skills and were not over bearing to say the least.
We plan to dine here again in the future.
Delicious Calimex in an historic building on the southern edge of downtown S. J. Capistrano.
The food's good and the service is usually decent but they just never seem to go the extra mile.
Great chips and salsa! Food is average and a little expensive for what you get. Don't care that Nixon once ate there once. Probably only was there once. The food is not drawing us back. Pre fab, heated plate type delivery.
The service is always efficient, good character, kind employees. Will visit again when I get here.
The only reason why I'm giving a "Good" service is because it was our bus boy that was providing more of the service than our server itself.
It's was fantastic we all came from Whittier CA great service the food was delicious
Amazing burritos whether COVID or no Covid, you won't be sorry for eating here. As close as it gets to the real thing in Mexico
Always beautifully set up, and really great service. Food was diet friendly, fresh and tasteful.
Very good place - with moderate pricing. Mexican fine food.
Awesome place! Good happy hour, great margaritas! And great service
Good food, great atmosphere, outstanding customer service!!!
Delicious Mexican food served within a historical restaurant frequent by President Nixon & his wife. What don't you like?
I am SOOO disappointed!! We have been coming here for YEARS! Tonight, I STUPIDLY paid with cash. Our bill was $124 and I had five $20 bills and one $50 bill. We were told that we only included six $20 bills but the $50 was missing from my wallet! I was forced to pay more to cover for their THEFT!! I know FOR A FACT that I had a $50 bill when I entered their restaurant and that I included it with my payment. Now, they lost a loyal customer. For $30. Hope you enjoy your winnings!
So far the best Mexican food around south county ...
Food was pretty bad to my surprise. Cute place and excellent service though.
Recommend for just a dinner, holiday brunch, or special occasion/reception! You won't be disappointed.
Amazing authentic Mexican Grill. Great ambience, service, and locale.
Great Mexican food. Staff is super friendly and helpful. The outside seating is perfect for Covid time. Now that it s chilly there are heaters.
Go for happy hour super good menu for food and beverages. We like the Sangria
They had a really nice Outdoor pool and spa the rooms were clean and quiet
This is the place to go when you are in San Juan capistrano. If you are looking to get married or are having a large gathering, this restaurant has an incredible indoor/outdoor area and it makes for a perfect evening. We and many family members have gotten married here and there are so many memories.
Historic Mexican restaurant, awesome fresh guacamole
Incredible food, nothing really spicy but all the sauces were perfect.
The restaurant is famous, in part, due to President Nixon and his wife who really enjoyed the food and dined there often. There are two chairs that they used when they visited. Patrons are allowed to use those seats. The food was absolutely delicious. I would recommend the nachos with chicken or the President's platter. We didn't get any photos because the food looked great and we dug in. A wedding reception was being held in the party area. Looks like a great venue for that. The restaurant is spacious and comfortable. Staff were friendly and courteous. Would definitely recommend.
The Wonderful attention. The one in charge (of Cuban origin .... incredible
)
Great food. Good service. Historic building. What's not to love?
Great atmosphere & food. Prices & service was great too. Music could have been a little louder in the outside dinning area though.
Not the location for big parties. Staff should be way more attentive. However the food was good.
20 yr ago the wife and I had our wedding reception there. Had so much fun even the staff where dancing. The roof opening on our first dance was magical. Thank you Adobe for helping make those moments.
Lot of love u highly recommend it
The best in San Juan! Steak was perfect and the rice was fluffy!
Food is superb. Wait staff is wonderful. My husband had prime rib, out of this world. I had a filet mignon rolled with peppers and onions. Excellent seasoning and great vegetables. Always a delight to dine here.
A historic staple of San Juan. The food is always good, but it is a little on the pricier side for Mexican. One if my favorites is the el Adobe burrito
Beautiful wedding venue, tastey food, attentive staff.
Tried chicken fajitas, chilaquiles and lobster tacos ... enjoyed them all! The churros with ice cream are our choice to wrap up our meals every time we eat there!
Best lobster tacos I've ever had. Our server was 5 star. Will be going back hopefully soon.
The food was okay. The service was not as great as I had hoped. The margaritas were tasty.
It was a beautiful old Spanish restaurant with a lot of room to walk around and we really had a real good time!!!
Best Mexican food in South Orange County. Great facility for weddings as well
Chips and salsa the best! Food delicious. Alberto was fantastic and bottom less mimosas! Great place to hang with your girlfriends!
Great food, friendly service and live music at dinner time. Historical building and a great atmosphere
It was really nice. We went to my company's party here
Delicious carnitas and my husband's prime rib burrito was excellent as well! Great service even though they were busy on Valentine's night.
Great place, great food. Server Alberto was the best. Highly recommended.
This historic long-standing spot in Capistrano is a must. Fantastic family friendly environment with friendly staff and amazing traditional Mexican cuisine.
Food was delicious and atmosphere was calm and inviting
First time @ El Adobe Capistrano. At first I thought it would be just a sloppy touristy Mexican restaurant.
Well I was pleasantly surprised, first the chips and salsa were great, the wait staff was cordial and very attentive and helpful.
The Ceviche was great tasting and fresh.
The restaurant is terraced and we'll kept.
The courses we chose were all good, my wife had the medallions and she said it was great. I had the President's combo, no complaints here. My lil girl had the Burger. She actually ate it.
I am glad that we stopped for dinner at this place, I felt I got my $$ worth.
The Hostess, Diana, was very friendly and super nice. We sat at the bar and gave 3 stars because took 1/2 hour to get flautas appetizer, which, when got them, were perfect - not over fried and flavorful, highly recommend. However; should not have taken that long when both restaurant and bar not full.
I got the presidential favorite and my wife got the carne asada torta. Her torta was great, and the fries that it came with were some of the best we've had. My meal was also good, the chili relleno and taco were better than the enchilada. Service was very good.
Great food, great place. Make a reservation for your group and eat down in the old jail.
Beautiful venue and restaurant...BUT, bartenders not friendly....drinks at party bar watered and not professional, main bar good drinks, no smiles..waiters okay and good food.
10/7/15
What a wonderful place. Incredible building with great service and fantastic drinks. Love sitting at the bar and passing the evening. Didn't have the food but that's next as it looked incredible!
Happy hour food and beverage. Huge rib plate is delicious.
I came here for a wedding and really loved the ambience. You can have your ceremony and reception here, and it's really adorable. The food is delicious here, specifically the Caesar salad and prime rib. The music was quite loud and nobody came in to tell us to turn it down. The space is rather large and can accommodate groups of many sizes.
