Always fabulous food (El Presidente special), service (thank you, Ignacio), and ambience (Cadillac margaritas in the bar).
Great authentic food along with friendly service make this restaurant a go to spot for people in San Juan Capistrano
Good & large portions of food!..Mariachi's on Sunday!!
Luncheon date with high school friends
Great combos,shrimp cocktail!
Today was our first visit here and I am definitely planning a return trip. I had a Blood Orange margarita that was exceptional. We ordered the enchiladas poblanas and a combination plate and both were absolutely delicious. The service was also great.
One day I was driving up the coast from San Diego and was running out of gas. Me and my friends just had a week-long Fourth of July celebration and we're in need of some fuel of our own. We stumbled across El Adobe and since that day in 2005, I've been here at least 50 more times. My only complaint is that they did away with their chimichanga. I can't imagine why as it was the best thing on the menu. But aside from that, this nearly hundred-year-old establishment is a SoCal landmark. I highly suggest giving it a try!
Very classey place good food fair price menue very busy
Richard Nixon's Fav. Need I say more. Historical Abobe Ranchhouse. Food was great. Had lunch with my wife, daughter, S.I.L. and my grandkids. Great day
I've been going here the majority of my life... My family, friends and I have always loved this place! I highly recommend it! Enjoy
The food was excellent oh, and the price was good, Hospitality was phenomenal
In my opinion one of the best Mexican restaurant I've ever tried.
Geat atmosphere and great food. If I could I'd rate more stars. I had the Lobster Tacos. The best I've ever had. Highly recommend if you are in the area.
Excellent margharitas, guacamole made by the table and amazing flautas. Will come here anytime we're in town visiting family.
Okay, food is typical. Nothing to write home about.
My husband djed here and it was an awesome place for an event. The staff was helpful, polite and pleasant. Food was ahmazing. Not like authentic -authentic Mexican (because it wasn't spicey) but it was enough to where everyone enjoyed it. Really nice private party space. The roof stayed open and although no stars it was fresh and beautiful.
Good enough for the President and First Lady, good enough for me. And I was here first
Historic place to visit and travel back in time when San Juan Capistrano was more of a cattle town than it is today. The El Adobe restaurant site has been recognized as a California State Historical Landmark. It is situated just two short blocks south of the historic Mission San Juan Capistrano and the Amtrak Train Depot. The adobe building was originally two separate structures. The northern section was originally the home of Miguel Yorba Adobe, built in 1797. The southern half housed the Juzgado (court and jails) and was established in 1812.
Great food, margaritas and service. Fun atmosphere.
Interesting old Mexican Californian town. Loads of Adobe buildings, antiques and at least one really good restaurant - Ramos Cafe. It is likely the others are as good.
Love this place! Beautiful patio, large open dining spaces, fantastic food and great cocktails! My favorite mexican spot in San Juan Cap!
How have I never eaten here! Great, busy, traditional Mexican Restaurant. Has an interesting menu, but its all very tasty. Refreshing margaritas and made-to-order guacamole crafted at your table! They even have a very good kids menu for the little ones! It can get noisy, but it's a really enjoyable experience!
Historical Mexican restaurant with great food and architecture. A bit pricey but worth it. Downtown with Mission San Juan Capistrano at end of street.
Excellent Mexican food. I recommend the ceviche, tamales and enchiladas.
Best burrito I ever had. Great destination. Great staff!
Currently open for dining or takeout. Great food and drinks. The restaurant has a roof that slides open to let in the breeze, sun and stars. Because of this, while technically indoor, it is considered outdoor dining. There is also a nice patio for dining.
Ordered a chicken taco plate and was disappointed: chicken was finely chopped and had no taste, the beans were bland, and the rice was oily. On top of that, the price is high compared to other places that offered better tasting food for half the price.
The steak fajitas were amazing! The portions were large making it a great value. The service was very fast. They were on top of refills without having to ask. I would definitely go back here!
My first visit to SJ Capistrano, in Christmas week and we found that the restaurant had a system failure. Even though we had to wait awhile for a table, after getting Margaritas at the bar, it was well worth the wait! A special trip with my two sisters and we had the table side-prepared appetizer, Guacamole, which we enjoyed with the chips and the meal! Service was slow and all the new diners were turned away, except at the bar. But they were not serving food at the bar. Later we learned that mobile web services were down nationally in some locations.
Good Mexican food and there tacos on taco Tuesday are very good
Fresh and delicious food! Staff was extremely friendly! Loved our visit here. Wish Newsom wasn't shutting every one down right before Christmas!
Great atmosphere and margaritas! Great for family get& togethers!
Stopped in for lunch on the weekend and had great service. The food was beautiful. Tableside guacamole was perfect.
Wonderful Mother's Day brunch! Live Mriachi bands, LOTS of food choices and friendly service.
My boyfriend and I came here for dinner we had a super burrito with a strawberry juice drink. The food and strawberry drink were da bomb. However the cashier was rude forgot to give us chips and rushed our order. I don't know if it is because my significant other is AA I hope not but I definitely don't like how the service was. I just like the food that's it.
Service a d Food quality A+
Outdoor safe and Beautiful surroundings.
Great atmosphere, amazing history, and good food. Definitely love the back patio and the old bar the most. So much room to spread out, as there's multi levels and rooms throughout. Their attention to detail and beautiful setting makes for an excellent event venue as well.
Average food. Taco was ice cold in the middle. Wasnt worth the hype.
Nice venue...bit overpriced. Went for Mothers day Brunch however..
Beautiful historic building, food was really good. Strawberry Margarita was super tasty!
El Adobe is a fantastic venue for both your wedding ceremony and reception. We held both here in January and it was amazing. The natural character of the venue allows you to not have to add a whole lot in decor. The food is amazing and the venue's wedding coordinator, Andrea, is awesome to work with. The value you get is unrivaled for being a Southern California venue. We would highly recommend this location.
Every part of visit was excellent, food, service. And easy parking.
Nice food and service. Went there with family and every one were satisfied and smiling. I cleaned my plate, niceeeeeee
The food here is absolutely amazing! I always get the chile verde and it's delicious and authentic. The chips and salsa are very tasty. The atmosphere is cozy and warm. It's my husband's and my favorite restaurant. We have never had a bad experience with the staff. We have always had a wonderful time and a delicious dinner. It's a little bit on the expensive side but it's so tasty and the restaurant is so quaint... The price is worth it!
Excelllent food and service was outstanding. Great environment-very clean. The black bean soup is soooo good. Will definitely go back!
The food was amazing and the service was great! Amazing history of the building!
Great service. Tacos are great and margaritas are decent. Busy location.
I've been going to the El Adobe for 40 years and the food is just as excellent, authentic and delicious as ever. The ambiance is classic old Spanish influence classic California. 5 star!!!!!
Had a great experience in here with my girlfriend. The food comes out quick and the customer service is just fantastic. Prices are reasonable.
Food was okay. Lots of history in this place which is always a plus. Quite noisy but everyone enjoyed it.
My wife said it was the best Mexican food she'd ever eaten. My brother said it was the best Margarita he'd ever had.
I've been here twice both have been great dinning experiences.
Delicious food, wonderful ambiance. We eat here locally and had our wedding here. The courtyard is gorgeous and the event space roof opens so you are under the stars. Amazing.
Attended our company "kick off party", good food and drinks and awesome staff. On the smaller side for a large group but cozy.
This is a high class, historic, and very classic Mexican Restaurant. President Nixon had visited this establishment frequently enough to have a special item named after him. No wait for restaurant side, but the bar side during happy hour gets very busy. The food is authentic mexican food and very tasty. The service was good and we had a really good time. If you are in the mood for good mexican food and really nice atmosphere, then this is the place to go. Enjoy!
Great place for authentic food, just price is out of whack like other restaurants
This is definitely one of the best place in the area. Always when I visit this place I am incredibly satisfied. They always keep their high level service and the highest level of meals they provide. You can never go wrong with this place. Very recommended.
Must try the guacamole. It is made fresh at the table side (pre pandemic) and it is just heavenly. Other dishes are excellent as well. It's a big restaurant but it gets really busy on weekends. In my experience, the staffs are friendly and service is always good.
Incredibly authentic Mexican food! So glad it's not near me or we'd be here way too often. Loved it!!! Awesome food great service. One of my new TOP favorites. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! A++++
Front patio service was quick as was our ordered meal. Food was fresh, hot, and pleasingly presented.
And the skinny Margarita... well, try it you'll like it.
Great atmosphere! Incredible service, delicious food! Parking behind restaurant made it an easy and convenient experience.
My Cousin got married here and they did a wonderful job! Great food as well!
