"EL ADOBE" RESTAURANT Review

Delicious food. I had the vegetable enchiladas and they were very tasty with a great sauce. My husband had the chicken mole enchiladas and he loved them.

Great guacmole made at your table in the middle of San Juan Capistrano.

This place is excellent! Convenient pricing, large portions and the staff are always friendly.

Portions here were very large, the service was great. The food is good, but not great. The sauce on the enchilada was on the bland side, but overall good.

Mine was no hot, more luke warm.

We!t here for wedding it's a historic building and has a pretty significant local presence food was okay and the Ambiance was good they had a patio for smoking

Very cool historical building. The food and ambiance were both outstanding. if you are a fan of Churros make sure you leave room for dessert.

Great place for a good meal . All the staff was quick and friendly and they all worked together to quickly get out your delicious meal . Chips and salsa are very tasty and I would definitely just come for those and a beer on any given day... only complaint my name is Juanita ( as in part of name is 2nd part of town name ) and as I was talking very loudly for hostess to write down my name and as I am loudly spelling it for her 4x she writes and re writes Conita. I don't know how J and C sound the same but this hostess needs to either go back to school or get hearing aids...

When ever we are in SJC we always stop in. have not run into a lot wait and most importantly the food is great.

Great historical mexican food place in quaint San Juan Capistrano. Great food, margaritas and mexican beers. Nice out door covered and uncovered patios. Cool historical photos of President Nixon in the 70s. There is even a room downstairs that was part of an old jail cell. On of my favorites for years

Love this place. Ribs on Monday and Thursday are the best. Francisco the bartender is the man.

Great Mexican Steakhouse with authenticity. Best chips and salsa anywhere. I take all out of town guests here first.

Service was great! Went to have my oil changed around the corner and found this gem while walking around. Had a Cadillac margarita, which was delicious! The poblano enchiladas are amazing. The plates are big so watch your appetite lol!

Went here for a family member's wedding. Awesome venue, especially when it was moved indoors, and the roof opens up!! Food was great too!

It is a well-served molcajete, good taste very rich and rrinde for two people as well as in the photo plus the trtillas

Portions were small-I am allergic to onions - couldn't find anything to eat- server was NO HELP

The service is hit or miss and it is expensive, but I always have a good time because the restaurant is so unique. I love the setup and the mariachi band is a great touch (when they are playing).

My favorite Mexican food restaurant to go to in California. They had a harp player playing and it was do relaxing! Everything on the menu is so good and tasty!

The service was great! We shared a fajita and it was amazing. There fresh made guacamole was so good and they give you a lot! The drinks were good. It's a huge place so everyone can sit apart.

Visited for the first time for dinner during the Mariachi festival and to celebrate mothers day. It was a bit hectic but it didn't seem to phase anyone. Service was great, good was delicious, and atmosphere was wonderful. I will definitely be coming back. Loved it.

Food is good, needs improvement in customer service. Waiters/waitresses seem to be not too much on the friendly side until they notice you are friendly.

Wedding downstairs was THUMPIN! Couldnt carey a convo upstairs for the life of us because nobody could hear each other speak. Other then that, food was alright and service was good. Oh, the guacamole made at your table?, - not so much. Nothing spectacular and they simply coat a bowl to make it look "full" Not worth the $16 They charge when it's more like $5 worth of avocado.

The food here has always been pretty good, albeit pricey. I've never had a problem with paying for good food. In fact, the Chile Verde I had last time was phenomenal. The one thing I do have a problem with though, is pure laziness. As a former restaurant manager it really pisses me off when I see it. So imagine my ire when I watch two employees leaning against the hostess stand just watching my wife struggling to get through the front door with our baby in his car seat. I was several steps behind her as I had been signing the check. After I had paid $60 for the two of us to eat Mexican food this left a horrible taste in my mouth. I won't be back. There is too much fantastic Mexican food in San Juan Capistrano (cheaper too) to return somewhere that the employees won't even open the door for you.

Brought some friends from India to their first team Mexican food experience. Victor was a great waiter , and the food was fantastic!

Classic top rated Mexican Restaurant. Been in San Juan Capistrano forever. Ambiance is wonderful. Staff great. Food excellent. As popular with the locals as tourists.

Obsolutely not Mexican food. Mole was sour, bad tortillas, enchilada and chile relleno had good taste. Good service. Always long line to use restrooms, one comode for men and one for women for the whole restaurant. I guess Nixon was fooled.

It's been 20 years since I was here. It's grown so much, yet retained is Adobe charm. Food was delicious and serving staff was wonderful.

We just had our wedding here last night and it was absolutely amazing. The staff is so sweet and on task, the Palenque venue is gorgeous, and the food is bomb-diggity. We wanna do it all over again!

Elio was awesome. Table side guacamole was amazing and a killer happy hour! Thank you for a nice night.

Always a great setting, we celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary here. Currently on the garden patio with beautiful architecture, fantastic food and great service we were not disappointed. Shrimp cocktail, ceviche, tacos and chile rellenos and they were all delichus extra points to the shrimp cocktail. El Adobe is an absolute must if you are in SJC.

Had another great happy hour here in the "garden area" outside. Same good food and service! Love this historic venue, definitely a favorite go to.

Yesterday I had the opportunity of working a wedding at El Adobe de Capistrano! What an amazing experience. Gorgeous venue! Cute little town. From the first meeting to the day of Jannette Gonzalez, their special events manager was super sweet and very helpful. Her captains are amazing. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Everything ran smoothly because of her and her team.

The food was your basic Mexican food. Service was lacking but all in all it was fine. Not from the area just stopped for lunch. Unremarkable.
