I went into the ER for severe pain all over my body, had a CT scan done, blood draw (which indicated blood clots in the lungs, via my doctor), gave an IV drip and told no blood clots, but a "flu like illness". Sent home. Next day had some much pain I passed out from it, had my jaw lock in place, and wouldn't go back because I was scared of having a flu like illness. The day after, I woke up couldn't move, had severe pain every where still, and my mother rushed me into the hospital. This ER PA and nurse were great. They thought I had signs of spinal meningitis. I was admitted for 4 days with numerous tests done.
After being discharged, I've been trying to set up a payment arraignment, because who has over $1,000 to fork out? And the billing department keeps answering the phone and saying to give them my name and number, and they'll call back. Every. Time. I call.
I'm not AT ALL impressed. And I'll make sure next time I have an emergency to go out of my way, and go to Rexburg.

The lady that works the front desk in the laboratory office today was absolutely rude. I go in to have multiple tests and she acts like I should know what to do. No that is your job. Instruct me what I need to do. Hence my first time even going into this hospital. So, everytime I asked a question she seemed to give some smart-allic answers. I signed the paper and instead of telling I am good to go, I stand there patiently waiting on her to tell me what to do. She says "umm that's it" in a rude voice like she was rushing me out. I will never step foot in the part of the hospital again.

EIRMC's customer service and care has drastically improved from 20 years ago. I recently had three hospital procedures of which one required overnight care whereas the other two were day procedures. For all of them the hospital services were excellent from check-in completely through check-out. Knowing they are a full service hospital is reassuring too.

I had a good stay. Medical staff was excellent. I am diabetic and asked for a low carb diet. When offered a meal of 4 different foods 3 of the 4 were high cabs ...banana, French toast, hashbrowns...when I asked for substitutes i was offered pancakes. When I asked for protein and fiber she said "I don't know what those are." Very poor food choices. They bowls of fresh fruit were fabulous. The meals on Saturday November 21st was exceptionally good.

Absolutely top notch. I was taken to the ER via ambulance, and after I was checked in, the ambulance staff checked on me personally three times! The nurses were very personable and knowledgeable. A nurse even called me the day after I was released to check up and let me ask any questions. I felt very comfortable and cared for, even though every room in the ER was full that day.

Today I had an MRI didn't really know what to expect just know that I needed it done for some lower back trouble I was having, the nurse that helped me with very kind and gave me all the information I needed and she had a smile even though I couldn't see it behind the mask it was deeply appreciated! I was in the MRI machine for roughly an hour and I didn't know what to expect and I don't have claustrophobia but it was starting to bother me a little until I made a game of all the noise the machine makes I figured out different songs to the beat of the machine and it got me through the session! Thanks to your well-trained staff at Eastern ldaho regional medical ( EIRMC ) I'm sure my next visit will be just as awesome!
Sincerely John Gregory

I had a brain tumor removed at eirmc. They have me a bad staff infection, spent over 4 years dealing with that problem. I could write a book about everything that I went through from making the mistake of having the surgery there. EVERYONE BEWARE. THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE AT GIVING INFECTIONS. I found out after my surgery.

My daughter in law had a late preterm infant at your facility and as a first time mother was not given very good teaching at all. The baby was not eating very well and she was sent home breast feeding the infant with no teaching to supplement the baby. She was also not sent home with a prescription for a breast pump or set up to get a breast pump that would have helped immensely. Most hospitals now either set new mom's up with those or at least give them a prescription for them since insurance is covering them. the baby went home on day 2 with a bili that was in the higher range and when he was seen by the doctor the next day he had lost a full pound from his birth weight and his bili was 16.4. A lot of this could have been prevented with proper teaching from your staff. I am a NICU nurse and we do a lot of this teaching on our post partum floor where I work. We are very careful with our late preterm infants. Especially with first time moms. They also had to wait over 3 hours after they had asked to be discharged for the nurse to come to their room to given them their teaching and answer questions. Not very impressive.

I recently donated my kidney out-of-state. Before I could do that, I needed to get lots of labwork done. I went to EIRMC, where they agreed not to bill me but to bill the transplant center. As a donor I am not responsible for paying my hospital bills. I received a bill for hundreds of dollars from EIRMC which the transplant center informed today violates federal law regarding living organ donors. Trying to get help from EIRMC was a nightmare and ended in tears. I was transferred to numbers that said not to leave a voicemail because they would not call you back, a number that rang and rang and nobody answered. They tried to send me to the out-of-state massive billing center where they have no idea what I am talking about. I finally called a patient advocate who was totally unapologetic and disinterested. I never got a response from her. This is not the first time I have had major billing issues with EIRMC that took forever to get fixed. I really wish the administration would make some effort to fix this. That's why it's better to use a local hospital with in-house billing any time possible. That is exactly what I will do in the future. I wish I could give a higher star rating because the care at EIRMC is great, but the billing department is an unethical nightmare.

I went in for a heart-cath procedure. The entire staff were friendly, caring, and extremely professional. I had a quadruple by-pass done here several years ago, and my recent experience just verifies that if you want the best cardiac care, EIRMC is where you want to go.

I have had to have my blood drawn many times in the lab at EIRMC and the person that I request every time is Joanne. She can use a needle that looks as big as a pencil and the pain is minimal. If she just draws blood for a test it is 100% painless. If it s for a 500ml blood letting it s the big needle. She and the others in the lab are kind, informative and actually care about you and your procedures in the hospital lab. I recommend this lab for your bloodwork. There are lots of labs in town but this one is a step above the rest in my opinion.

My husband went in for surgery, during his stay he took a turn for the worse. I did not find out about this until I called to check his condition and the Dr told me I needed to come in and decide what to do. When I got there his nurse pulled me aside and told me he got confused during the night climbed out of bed and received a small cut to his arm. He was incoherent when I went to see him we put him on hospice. My issue is why I had to call and find out what happened . The nurse should have called me the minute his condition changed it was a total shock when I went in to see him. He passed away that night and we didn't even get to say goodbye. I will never take anyone to that hospital again

My wife, Linda, had to make a stop at the EIRMC ER as we were traveling through the area. Linda was treated quickly, professionally and received outstanding care. We were in and out in 70 minutes, I can't get in and out of my primary care physician in that amount of time. If we lived in the Idaho Falls area EIRMC would be our first, and only choice, when it came to medical care.

Most of my earlier visits were efficient. I was able to tell the doctors what was wrong and I was able to get the help I needed. But after awhile, the doctors would either tell me there was nothing they could do because they couldn't "quantify my pain" or that there was nothing wrong. This was extremely frustrating to me because I knew something was up and I came in because I needed help. There are so many times I went in and, despite what I would tell the doctors, I would just be told again that nothing was wrong. Now I am very hesitant to go to any doctor anymore because I fear being treated the same way. I can't afford the appointments and visits if all they are going to tell me is that nothing is wrong even if I know otherwise.

EDIT: After leaving my review I was contacted personally by the billing department in EIRMC. Mark, the gentleman I talked to was very helpful and kind in walking us through the bill and explaining the whys and what's pertaining to what we owed. The only reason I did not change my rating to a 5 start is because I still feel like there is work to be done via the corporate billing department who did not have any answers after hours on the phone with them. Overall I would still recommend this hospital as a whole. The doctors, nurses and staff in the immediate hospital are great.

Billing department is a joke... have talked to them multiple times and it goes no where. They just keep stating they will send it to review. My insurance states I should only be responsible for "x" amount of money and they are billing me for double this. Charged for 3 MRI's after only getting 2. This place is a disaster to work with after the fact. We have pre paid for all procedures we have had done here and its a nightmare after the fact. My wife had a baby a few months ago and we pre-paid for everything as well. After knowing our insurance we ended up getting a massive bill from the anesthesiologist because they used one that was not under out insurance.

Recently, while on vacation, my husband had to go to the ER with chest pains and shortness of breath. Even though it was a holiday weekend, I have never seen such awesome care and such caring people in my life! His Cardiologist, Doctor Blank, was awesome. I had a feeling of peace as soon as he stepped in the room. Thank you so much to all that helped care for my husband! You made a very hard time in our life bearable. Thank you for returning my best friend to me!!

Amazing some of the drs that saved my life in 2012...

Amazing some of the drs that saved my life in 2012 were able to do another amazing job fixing and removing some metal plates that were in way. I have always loved the care from all nurses and staff and drs while there. I have been there when in high-school broke back and one dr said never walk again second opinion from another and walking today no problem. Then had all 3 kids there amazing!!! Then a serious car wreck that should have killed me and one dr said remove eye she will never see out of it again and remove hand from another to much damage. But 4 I'm sure there were more but I was there awhile so no way could name all the staff nurses or Dr's who kept me alive. But the 4 that I will never forget dr. Moffett who saved both my eyes and did not remove the one im blind in. Dr Wilson who saved my hand (and works very well for most part) and had part in putting my face back together. And dr hicks the oral surgeon that helped with teeth jaw and mouth area putting face together. And dr hinckley who did eye socket and sinus and other areas of face. Thank you all very much!! I will always have a special place in my heart for the drs and trauma er staff on call that night! I was told I wouldn't survive and probably have alot of brain damage (which im sure others agree i do haha) but I get to see and be with my husband and watch my children grow i get to see them after being told I would not see again!!!

I had a sedation MRI. I had to wait 2 hours To get the test done. It is now 2:30 pm. I have not had anything to eat or drink since midnight. I am a diabetic.
My blood sugar dropped low. Which is not good.

Then I had to wait an hour awake in the recovery because they didn't have orders to release me back to day surgery.

Most of the staff were helpful.

My son receives Occupational and Language Therapies in EIRMC's Outpatient Pediatric Therapies office every week. My son has extremely high anxiety and difficulty with communicating, especially when anxious, and frequently elopes ,or "runs away", to get away from his anxiety. His Occupational Therapist, Kelsi and his Speech & Language Pathologist, Peter, are patient, kind and have been instrumental in helping us teach him how to better communicate and reduce the times he "runs away". They are truly the cream of the crop of their specialities!

Had our first child at EIRMC last November and couldn't be more satisfied about the way we were treated. The nurses in Mom and Baby were so helpful and supportive, which we appreciated as first-timers. They took the time to get to know us and were there whenever we needed them, but not constantly hovering. Even dealing with an emergency C-Section, breastfeeding problems, and spinal headaches from the epidural, they helped us get through it all and feel really positive about the whole experience.

I'm not one to write reviews or rate places/people, but from these circumstances I've decided too. My twin grandsons have been staying in the NICU for 27 days now. From day 1 of a mistake their Dr, Dr Cheatham, has just been amazing!! He stood by one baby's bedside all night once, helped fix an issue that started my daughter in stress tears to tears of joy. Their nurses and nurse leaders have all been amazing in helping with so many situations and helping my daughter along the way. I am a RT and choose to not work with doctors because of how so many of them think and things they've done. Dr. Cheatham has open my opinion that there are still REAL doctors in the world and still care. Thank you! Thank you NICU team- doctors, nurse's, leaders and RT's.

In 2014, I had my first Grand Mal Seizure and my housemate called for an ambulance. After coming out of the seizure, I developed "unusual muscle spasms" that impaired my ability to breath.

After arriving at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center's Emergency Room, I was wheeled in and the intake question begin. After my seizures, I am not able to communicate for several hours (form sentences, understand questions) which angered the ER staff. After the intake was complete, the connected the monitoring equipment and showed my Oxygen saturation was in the 70's. The doctor only stopped in to ask where I lived and worked, then left. I never saw a doctor or another nurse after that interaction. My O2 stat remained in the 70% for the next 4-5 hours until a discharge nurse came in and told me the doctor was busy with two other patients who were "in worse condition".

The brain hypoxia I suffered well EIRMC ER refused stabilizing treatment decimated a number of characteristics and skills I use to posses. Looking backwards with the changes and symptomology, my prefrontal cortex and medial temporal lode both were damaged from oxygen deprivation.

I lack the hard evidence for a medical malpractice lawsuit.

Be careful when visiting here.

We were visiting my Father-In-Law in the ICU, and his wife was a worried wreck. She didn't understand anything they were telling her. The nurse on staff who's name was Doug, came into the room and she asked if he could have a jello, because my Father-In-Law's throat was sore. Doug then turned around and rolled his eyes and walked out. As if its a HUGE bother to help a patient out. 20 min later I go to ask Doug if we could get some eye drops for him. And mind you, he is sitting there reading a kindle. This is his response, "It's just saline water" He then set his kindle down and acted AGAIN as if his job is an inconvenience. My Father-In-Law's room is on isolation, and instead of wearing any mask. suit, or gloves just walks in and rifles through the drawer for a saline dropper. I'm not at ALL happy with how your nursing staff treats your patients. Something needs to be done...especially when one of your doctors told us he is only transferring him to the ICU because he knows none of the nurses will check on him otherwise.

Our daughter had a baby boy at EIRMC in January. Every nurse and every person we dealt with was just lovley. Even more, our daughter placed her baby with a cute couple for adoption. The hospital was not full and offered for the adoptive couple to have a room next to my daughter for free so they could be by the baby. It was tender and perfect and so thoughtful. I've never heard of a hospital doing this. It made our experience personal and perfect. Thank you!!!!

Very professional staff and great experience. The only way I can think of to make it better is to email the patient a map of the location, and which entrance to go to at the hospital. We did a lot of walking around and talking to people to find the right entrance, which could have been avoided with a good emailed map.

This hospital is notorious for making severe mistakes with patients resulting in infection, or death in some cases over the years. There are good doctors inside here but poor decisions are made throughout care. Their billing is terrible! They sent us to collections WHILE WE WERE PAYING THEM MONTHY PAYMENTS because we did not formally set up a payment plan with them. We started our payments in September and they sent us to collections in February. I haven't been sent to collections FROM ANY OTHER MEDICAL DOCTOR/BILL EVER!!!! So, if you owe this hospital you better CALL and make formal arrangements or they will send you to collections and demand FULL payment with in a couple months. Terrible billing practice. I will never EVER use this hospital again. I will die in the ambulance going to Madison or Portnuef Hospital or wait......GO ACROSS THE STREET TO THEIR COMPETITOR MOUNTAIN VIEW they are getting an E.R..

I will go out of town to go to a different hospital before I ll ever go back there.

Okay, so I m self employed. I picked a really good insurance plan because I was pregnant with Emmy. Anyways the ER visit is $250 after deductible. I had no problem paying that. I specifically picked this plan because of that AND EIRMC accepts select health. I Already met the deductible when I had baby- in network and out of network. 4 months pp I thought I was having a stroke (I have APS and my hematologist said if I had ANY symptoms to go to the ER asap) so we went to the ER.

My left side went numb, I was throwing up everywhere, I couldn t speak. I had ZERO control over my body. I legit thought I was going to die. They immediately got me an MRI and other tests. They diagnosed it as a crazy migraine and sent me home. I wasn t worried about the cost of it all because I know my plan, and this is why I invested in good insurance.

Well turns out the ER physician isn t contracted with any insurance so now I have a bill for $1600. Talked to insurance and they keep fighting it. I keep getting bills from the physician. It s been going on for months. I m not going to pay it. I shouldn t have to. I NEVER SAW THE DOCTOR. I ll keep fighting!

I find it INCREDIBLY unethical for the physicians not to be associated with the insurances the hospital accepts. What are you suppose to do? Call ahead and see who s working and what insurance they take? Die? It s seriously inhumane.

I m pretty conservative with my views on healthcare. However, If this is what you get with GOOD insurance then it s time for universal healthcare. No one should have to sit at home thinking it s better of to risk dying than pay thousands *if* they re not.

Tell me Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center what am I suppose to do? Sit at home with a 4 month old baby thinking I m going to die? Because I can t afford to go to the ER that accepts my insurance?!? How is that quality of care ?
