Everything about this store is great. Shopping and supporting local businesses is something I enjoy, and the fact that I can get the items that I'm looking for in town is even more of a plus. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and great to talk to. This will always be my go-to store in the Springfield area.
The staff (Aaron in this case) was very knowledgeable and helped me make the correct decision on what kind of sleeping bag I needed.
Prices: It looked like their prices were based on MSRP and I understand that for a specialty shop like that to exist that they would need to get the regular retail price for an item. It's a very nice store and they carry the best in quality. That's why i like to go there when i'm in town, because i don't have to wade through the cheap quality stuff to try to find the usable products. I prefer to buy quality up front because it last longer and works correctly usually.
Overall i'm giving them 5 stars for their service, knowledge, cleanliness, and product quality.

What makes this store special is the passion that the employees have for what they do. It is evident that they know their products and can recommend the right gear based on their own personal experiences. They carry the best of the best and I'm confident knowing that I'll be well taken care of in the store, and while experiencing the great outdoors.
I just took the dynamic earth stickers off my gear, and will seek to buy from more reasonably priced Amazon. I stepped on the edge of a tent upstairs that was on the edge of a narrow walkway, and was asked to leave the store by the upstairs employee that had a terribly poor attitude. Management should realize that the attitudes of employees reflect the brand. Really doubt i will ever spend a penny there again. So unfortunate.
I recently moved back to Springfield from Minneapolis, MN. In the Twin Cities there's an REI store on every corner. I won't lie, I love REI; I love their philosophy and their hands on approach to gear. I found something ever better at Dynamic Earth. There's a nexus of people who work at this store who live to be outdoors. It's not a hobby, it's not an act.....the sheer passion for customer service and good gear comes out in every conversation with these folks. Could I save $10 on something by ordering it online from REI? Absolutely! But that $10 is well spent as an investment in a local resource. Because I know that when I have a question, when I need some no BS guidance on gear, or even if I just want to learn about a new chill spot in the Ozarks; the DE staff is right there ready to help and advise. That is priceless.
This is the best outdoor shop around, hands down. If you don't know what you need they will help you, and not make you feel stupid while doing it. They care about the Ozarks and are always helping to better the outdoor community, and we should all return the favor.
Stood around for 15 minutes waiting and listening to what the employees plans were for the weekend.. I mentioned it to a employee who acted like he could care less.. So you guys get a big fat AVOID!!!

I have shopped here for 10 years. I bought my first pair of climbing shoes at the old location on Fremont and a couple of items from their sale last week; in between those times, I have filled my gear closet with products purchased from Dynamic Earth.
The Reasons why I shop at DEarth:
1) Products you aren't going to get anywhere else in town. i.e. Arc'Teryx, Icebreaker/Smartwool, Osprey, etc. They are premium products and you should expect a manufacturer's suggested price to reflect that. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. After buying my rain shell at Dynamic, I have never been backpacking in a rainstorm thinking, "Man, I wish I hadn't paid the premium and was soaking wet & miserable right now". I have had plenty of bad experiences with poor quality gear; buy it once - buy it right. As the cliche' saying goes - "There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad gear".
2) Exceptional customer service. If you want to be shown where a product is located and then left alone to figure out the product from the hang tag....go to chainstore X Y or Z. At Dynamic Earth, they know and use the product you are interested in purchasing. They will explain the product in depth and how to use it in the field. A website like Amazon isn't going to do this for you. You are going to read 100 reviews from Billy-Bob or Janice, who you don't know, who could also be from a rival company ragging on the product, or idiots who just don't know what they are talking about...
Also, I once had to deal with a warranty for manufacturer defect with a product I bought from Dynamic Earth....rather than jumping through hoops with the company - Jason Colton took care of the entire process for me and ended up getting me a replacement - at no cost!
3) Support local. Spending money here goes back into our community. They also throw community events all the time. Hang out, meet locals who have similar interests...good stuff.

Dynamic Earth is an incredible store! The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and their sales are awesome! I just saved over fifty bucks on a killer OR jacket. Don't go anywhere else for gear.
These guys carry the best brands and are super knowledgeable. I am an avid backpacker and paddler and these guys have taught me a lot. It's nice to shop at an outdoor store where the people working are so passionate about the gear they sell, and the adventures the gear allows for.
I just started rock climbing a few months ago and when it came time for me to find some gear I found this place. The first time I walked into this place my family and I had several people offering to help us. The guy who was in charge of gear took time out to listen to me and help me find the perfect shoe for my circumstances. Every time I have been in since the guys call me by name and they always answer all my noob questions and show me how all the gear works. I know I can get gear cheaper in other places, but I can't get this kind of service anywhere else. They are passionate and extremely knowledgeable at d.e. and I'll never go anywhere else.
I have always encountered friendly and informed staff who offer me great deals in the store and good times outdoors. This is my one stop shop in town for my outdoor needs. Bonus: great community events usually involving beer and food
Jason the guy that works there ruined my experience. All he told me was how much he volunteered and begged me to buy a net for $60. He has really bad customer service and I will never be returning back to this store ever again.
Very very rude employee! Watched one of the employees upstairs rip apart a man for bumping a tent with his foot. He was extremely disrespectful to him! I watched the whole thing, he did not deserve the employees hateful rant. Management should take action, he had a tattoo on his left arm. I wont buy from the store if he is still there. Ill come back when "he grows up". Very unfortunate for the company to have such a sour employee.

The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. I was looking at tents and the sales guy was ridiculous informative and popped the tent up in a flash to show me what it looked like and how easy it was to set up. Awesome place.
I really want to thank everyone at Dynamic Earth for renewing my passion with the outdoors. Dynamic Earth has the most outstanding gear selection in the area by far. And the people that work there are so much more than qualified. Climbing has absolutely changed my life.
Dynamic Earth is a brick and mortar store that offers many more benefits than any online site could. I have been a customer of DE since they were located off of Fremont next to Haruno many years ago. Not only has their staff been knowledgeable on the outdoor sports/hobbies we all love but also the product knowledge that aids in an educated buying decision. Sure one can buy online or purchase inferior products at other outlets but DE has continually chose to carried high end products with bomber warranties. On multiple occasions I've had headache free warranty claims with Jason( head of the warranty department). I've had stellar customer service with virtually every employee, Matt Lyons, Jason and Val have always done right with promotional discounts, killer sales and a rewards system offered to all customers. If you want top tier products and customer service with peace of mind should an issue every arise, this is the place. I'll be a life long customer and every time I visit it's like seeing old friends and some new gear!!!
I went in this store last week to purchase a new hydration bladder, but ended up leaving with the experience of a lifetime. After consulting with one of the employees about the pros and cons of the specific unit I had picked out, I was lead by the rack of "wool socks". I asked the employee I had been chatting with why anyone would pay so much for a pair of regular old socks. He stopped me right there. "These socks will change your life," he said to me. Shocked that an employee would make such a ridiculous claim about such a trivial part of outdoor attire, I became intrigued and was painted a vivid picture of what sets apart "regular wool" and Smart Wool. Impressed by the comfort of the pair I tried on, the fantastic warranty program, and the professionalism (and bold suggestion) of the employee, I left Dynamic Earth that day with 5 new pairs of Smart Wool socks. In a short weeks time, socks changed my life. Thanks to Dynamic Earth, Smart Wool, and Aron for the awesome socks, I'll always go back to you guys for them!!!

A few weeks ago Jason gave me a fantastic deal on a Werner carbon fiber paddle for my kayak. As we were checking out I mention that one of the straps had started to fray on my Wilderness systems Tarpon 120. Jason said " That's warranty repair bring it in and I'll fix it." Well today he did just that and to top it all off he gave me a lesson on how best to strap down a single kayak in the back of a pickup. Bonus! Jason's friendliness, honesty, integrity and helpfulness is the reason we do business with Dynamic Earth in Springfield MO.

This is a very cool little place that has a wide selection of the best outdoor brands available. You can tell that they work on commission there though because you will always have someone following you around. Still 5 stars though because the people have always been nice and friendly instead of pushy and weird.
I visit Colorado once or twice a year and I'm a gearhead so I stop at every gear shop I find and none of them have anything on Dynamic Earth. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, and the best brands are why I've been shopping here for years. Jason, Valerie and Everett actually use the gear they sell and will give you their own honest review of the products. Go see them!
Went in for some climbing shoes. Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend going there to get any climbing or hiking hear you need.

If your looking for experience, this is the place to go. Im from KC and even up here, I'd venture to guess all of our gear shops combined don't have the climbing, paddling, and backpacking experience that DE has. I feel like I can only say that because I've worked at a gear shop in KC and I've had the pleasure of first hand witnessing some of these folks in their element. The staff is so friendly that if they see you out at the climbing crag, or floating down the buffalo they will stop you, give you a drink, and get you to come hang out with them for the rest of the day and let you play on their demo SUP boards. If your lucky you will get to watch Connor send a 5.13, Scotty fall off a SUP board, or get to compete in a pull up contest around the campfire at Sams Throne or HCR. They have the brands that I tend to prefer, a great mix of performance and every day clothing, like Prana, Patagonia, La Sport, Arcteryx, and Western Mountaineering. The awesome part about DE is the community, all of the guys at this shop have their hands deep in the outdoor community, rebuilding climbing gyms in Springfield, working on mountain bike trails, keeping the rivers clean and picking up trash from local swimming spots, and developing new climbing areas. BEST GEAR SHOP in the Mid West.
I have never been treated so bad in a store in my life for an accident on my part that was not even a big deal. I opened a plastic package to see how big something was and a dude with a tattoo on his left arm told me to leave the store when I was planning on buying the item. Indeed amazon has got my vote and dynamic earth's stickers are coming off my camping gear. As for the countless college kids I know that love hiking gear, I will be sure and prove to them how over priced and rude you guys are to your customers. I have never seen a fair price on anything in your store when compared to amazon. So thank you tattoo dude for affirming this for me.
I love this store!! It has an inspiring atmosphere and a welcoming staff!! I live out of state and had an issue with a pair of pants fitting correctly, Scottie personally took care of my exchange in a timely manner!! I will always visit DE every time I am in town for the staff and variety or products to be found for my adventures!!
