Didn't ride train but the free train museum was AWESOME. If we go back and have time would like to take train ride.

Childhood dream come true! Words can't express the beauty of the area.
Museum run by passionate people who bring objects to life
train ride was nice & smoothe. only thing that sucked was the charcoal smoke from the train
The train ride is one of the most amazing experiences I ve ever had. My wife and I rode the train to and from Silverton. The scenery is really beautiful and the attendants were so nice and friendly. I would highly recommend the train ride to anyone. It is like taking a step back in time and very well worth it. Durango and Silverton are two of the most amazing places to visit.
A jewel in this town! Spectacular train ride and kid-friendly activities
wonderful history to look at (but mostly not touch!). free entry with cash donations encouraged.
It is not to be missed, a lovely ride through the mountains with a 2 hour stop in Silverton. An old westetn mining town
Pretty fun. Lots of hot chocolate, cookies and probably some mudbutt aftermath. Workers were great, very fun. Singing along and dancing was fun.
Best hot chocolate, best warm cookie, a bell and Santa. It was awesome!
Super annoying. They hold down the whistle the entire way through town.
Beautiful scenery, great history. Great for multi-generation trip!
Tremendous site to further see and understand the Durango/Silverton area. Well maintained and the docents were most helpful.
Great train ride that anyone who loves trains should do at least once. The scenery is beautiful to.
What beautiful scenery. Ride the train for 3 hours each way or take the bus back. Visit Silverton either way.
Great place to see trains and other historic memorabilia.
Looks like a GREAT EXPERIENCE. They have a wonderful train museum to go through too on the premise.
Majorly redone. You can spend an hour here and its free. It has old cars boats too.
If youre in Durango, go there.
We have been here two times in 2 years. We love coming to Silverton, and we really the Silverton Narrow gage Railroad rides & tours!
We did the historic car and it was wonderful! Caroline Romney was a fascinating woman and our narrator really brought her character to life.
Happy Easter from the Hops & Hops train! I had a blast.
We did this the first week of October and it was incredible. If this isn't on your bucket list, it needs to be. Great experience and just stunning scenery.
We rode the polar express, the ride last for about 30 minutes! And basically the train just move for about 2 miles forward and back! Kind of pricey for such a little period of time!
Fun trip. Going both ways is a long day. Many take the option of taking the bus one way.
Very good experience had a great time with the family and friends. Only downside is kids tend to get bored of it after an hour and the tickets are quite pricey!
Had a wonderful time riding the train! Beautiful views. It's a great experience you should definitely try!
Totally Worth to do it. We did the rairoald trip with the combo of snow mobile that also we totally reccomend. Views for both train trip and snow mobile unbelievable beautiful as well lots of fun.
Amazing history of the Durango Silverton railroad. . . And much more!
Worth your time and money!! It topped off our trip. We rode in an open car & I definitely recommend.. You will see a lot more!! The scenery is AMAZING. What an awesome God we serve..!!
Took the vintage coach with narration. A must-see if you are in the Durango area.
Beautiful scenery with an interesting train ride with a stream powered locomotive. Beautiful cool weather in June. Friendly attentive staff.
Awesome! Lots of old engines and other railroad memorabilia. And it's free.
Great experience! Would definitely suggest going first class which includes free drinks cakes and narration. Also great views and gift bag.
This train station setup was neat but not my thing. We did it once and will probably not do it again. The guides were great and the experience is great if your looking for a long chill train ride with great views. We had small kids with no attention span so it was tough to entertain them for the 2 hours this took.
Loved Durango so much. Silverton is a very short visit town. The town closes up at 4:30 and doesn't open until the next day when the train comes again. Just ride the train up and back, dont stay in Silverton.
We did the Polar Express ride with family. Had a great time! Enjoyed the museum and other activities, too.
A must if you visit Durango. The train we went on was in the winter and it was fun. I would like to go in the spring or fall.
Walk into a cab of an actual dream locomotive
Working telegraph station
Lots of area train history
Working large HO train layout
Incredible experience! The museum alone is well worth the cost but, take the time to ride the wonderful train. This is indeed the experience that will create an indelible memory.
I'm sad the train didnt run this year, I cant wait for the world to get their lives back
Great museum and train buffs will love this place. Historic down town Durango.
Highly recommended. I wouldn't do the round trip though. There is a bus option for the return.
The trip was interesting and had scenery that you can't otherwise see. We were in a enclosed car with a person who told us interesting stories and histories of the train and area. BUT it is a very very long trip if you take the train both ways (like 7 hours or more). I recommend that you take the train to Silverton and return by bus.
What an amazing treat. A real coal fueled steam powered locomotive up into the beautiful mountains. The day couldn't have been more beautiful. The staff was very attentive and you can even have adult beverages. Do it. You wont regret it
Not worth the same basic price paid. In Silverton there are only low-end restaurants and souvenir shops made in china very expensive. In short is not worth the detour and 2 nights hotel for this activity to 230th to 2
We road tripped to Durango for winter break. The narrow gauge train ride was a highlight. Because it was winter, we didn't go all the way to Silverton. Even so, the ride offered amazing sights only accessible by train. My entire family, including kids 8, and 11, loved the experience.
Museum is awesome! And Free! Much More than Railroad memorabilia. Highly recommend.
We took the bus to Silverton and the train back to Durango. We sat on the left side on the train in an open-air gondola, which I would definitely recommend. The autumn views were so beautiful! The soot is no joke, so bring some sunglasses and a hat.
Don t plan a trip around being able to ride the train. It s unreliable.
Truly an amazing experience. It was a bucket list event for me and did not disappoint.
Make sure you get the open air car you'll see a lot more!
A must do experience, scenery was beautiful, The train was fun Kyle was great.
What fun! They made the experience as reasonably close to the movie as possible. And singing Christmas songs was fun.
Very nice and cool ride very informative people on the train , beautiful scenery you have to take the train ride .
