Disappointing. I ordered Soup & brown bread ham & cheese sandwich. My husband ordered sausage & mash. Sandwich was 1 slice of dry bread cut in half. Mash was runny. It took half an hour for this expensive snack be prepared. Soup was nice. Bar was busy. Food was disappointing.

Very lovely clean & spacious room. We had booked late & our room was facing the busy road, & very bright street lights. I would strongly suggest black out shades along with the beautiful curtains. Other than that it was perfect. Breakfast was amazing. Anything and everything one could eat. I would highly recommend this hotel and will be back.

My family and I stayed overnight at the Dunraven Arms last weekend, and we found it charming, it is a hotel with character, and the little sitting rooms were an added bonus. I would definitely recommend staying there to my friends.

This is a fantastic place to stay and from the pictures on the wall, several celebrities agree including: Gwenith Paltrow, Michael Douglas, and Catherine Zeta Jones. The accommodations are quite nice and the staff helpful and friendly. The beds are comfortable and the water hot. My only complaint is there is no air conditioning. However, they will provide fans upon request.

I always read reviews but don t frequently write them. I felt I needed to after staying here and seeing this shows up as a 4.3 rating. This place was spectacular and I would highly recommend it. We arrived very late due to car trouble. We were sure we would be eating a bag of potato chips for dinner. The receptionist immediately took our bags from us and escorted us to the dining room where they stayed open late and served us an incredible dinner. White table cloths, waiters and waitresses in white shirts and ties, all just standing by in case you need anything.

When we finished our meal, we were shown to our room which was perfect. Of course it s an older hotel but isn t that why you came to Ireland? If you want the Hilton you re in the wrong country .

The attention to detail is something I have rarely seen, even at the best US hotels. There was always someone cleaning something or shining the glass. There was also always someone nearby in case you needed anything.

The gardens were gorgeous and the service was second to none. Can t say enough good things about this place.

We just spent a couple of weeks traveling around Ireland. The time that we spent in Adare at the Dunraven Arms was our most enjoyable by far. The property is charming with tons of character, the beds are comfortable, the rooms spacious, and our bathroom had recently been updated.

The hotel is old, which in my opinion added to the experience. The location was perfect - directly across from the Manor where we had an Adare Country Pursuits Falconry experience scheduled and within walking distance of everything that we needed: grocer, chemist, local pubs, and the heritage center.

I can't recommend them enough and look forward to returning.

Fine venue, good food and restaurant. Reserve yourself a window table when making reservations. Beautiful location on the entrance to town. Views of town and countryside. Excellent location. Friendly staff.

This hotel is very charming. All the staff was super friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the restaurant was excellent! Our room was large and clean. Our only issue was the mold. By the time we got checked in and then noticed it neither one of us had the energy to ask to be moved.

It is a number of years since I last visited this hotel. Based on that experience and what I know of this hotel I would expect at this stage to be rating it four star. I am attending a wedding there in ten months time and called to reserve one of a number of rooms which had been allocated to the wedding party. The rooms are allocated at a reduced rate but I was shocked when informed that their terms of booking were not payment a week or a month ahead but full payment up front 10 months before the event. If the wedding had been booked earlier I could have been in a position of having to pay in full a year or more ahead.

Most of us will not drink and drive and are therefore a captive market with little option but to accept such outlandish terms. Guests booking hotels at reduced rates for weddings has in the past been considered as a concession to the bridal party to secure the event booking and maintain high occupancy rates. Following the recession in Ireland the hotel sector was one of the worst hit with a high proportion failing or having significant bank write offs. The cost was borne by the taxpayer as was the cost of additional reductions in vat which were introduced to help the industry. We are now being asked by Dunraven Arms to provide them with free cash flow at a time when for good reasons the banks are reluctant to provide them with working capital. This and other recent experiences tell me that hotels are now heading for a second 'Celtic Tiger' and I will now be lobbying my political representatives to end the concessionary vat rates which they still enjoy.

My wife and I planned a trip to Ireland for our wedding anniversary. I contacted the Maigue to discuss a wedding anniversary dinner. I was very clear that I was looking for a fine dining experience with an intimate ambiance. I was assured that this is exactly what it was. I booked a table for two. We arrived this evening to a noisy restaurant with a table of 6 young children talking and crying / screaming ( I say this as a loving grandparent) .It forced the volume up elsewhere, so the fine dining experience turned into more of a canteen experience at fine dining prices.
It spoilt our evening. I am particularly annoyed by being misled. This is not an intimate , fine dining restaurant, it is a restaurant embedded in a hotel with fine dining food, but is a complete lottery as to whether you experience a calm, relaxed ambience or bedlam.

A warn, friendly, cosy well managed establishment in charming Adare. Nice sized swimming pool and gym and cosy reading rooms for those who like to relax and chill out. Top class locally sourced food stuffs magically transformed into the tastiest of menus for evening dinner or morning breakfast. The historic town of Adare will be enhanced when it is bypassed (asap)

Dinner was extremely good but i was a little disappointed with breakfast felt we were rushed through the process. If you are travelling with a buggy ask for a ground floor room no lift available so going upstairs required physically lifting the buggy.

The room was over 80 degrees Fahrenheit (>26.5 Celsius) as measured by the thermostat in the room, but this hotel has no air conditioning and we were not able to open the window for ventilation. This is because there is a spotlight advertising the hotel pointed directly at our window, so it was as bright as day with the window open. With the window open and the blinds closed as much as possible it was very bright in the room. When we called reception in the middle of the night the hotel told us that they could not turn the spotlight off. You can see the attached photos of the spotlight and the room's brightness at night. In addition, there was tremendous noise from the road (the hotel sits right on a fairly busy road) with the window open and lots of bugs attracted by the spotlight, so if you stay here you must choose between 80 degree temperatures or bright lights, bugs, and road noise. Honestly it's a hard choice with no good option. The hotel had no fans available and could suggest no other way to cool the room.

Otherwise:

- the bed was hard as a rock, also making it difficult to sleep. We asked for an extra comforter to put above the mattress but it never came
- The power outlets (at least the 110V ones and usb outlets that we needed) did not work. We informed the hotel and 4 different people came to try to fix them, reset the breaker, etc, but ultimately they said they were having electrical problems and were not able to fix them
- despite the hotel being hundreds of years old there is no air filtration whatsoever because the hotel uses a water-based heating system. If you try using a flashlight at night, you'll see dust levels consistent with > 50 micrograms per cubic meter of particulates, well above the dust recommended by the World Health Organization. Health conscience guests beware!

We were there for a wedding event - would recommend you reconsider if planning a wedding here.

Our experience was so bad that we decided to check out of the hotel after one night. I politely spoke with a man who identified himself as the manager and owner of the hotel to ask that he let us out of the next night's reservation, but he informed me that we should have just opened the window and he will still charge me for the next night. When I explained why we couldn't open the window, he said if he let us out of the remaining nights of our reservation he would have to do the same for the rest of he hotel. This made it clear to me that we were not the only ones who had a bad experience. The manager/owner was more concerned about the revenue from one additional night of forcing us to keep our remaining night of stay than doing the right thing and letting us out of what are clearly unsleepable conditions for many folks.

Very nice place. A bit on the expensive side. Our "junior suite" listed for 260 euros (or so they told us) but they gave it to us for 160 . Nice looking comfy 4 poster bed. Big shower with plenty of water pressure. Morning breakfast was very nice with a good selection of hot and cold items and an attentive staff. Overall a very nice place.
