Nice atmosphere but disorganised service and very average food
Thank you so much for hosting our wedding with such flexibility in the middle of the pandemic. Tuesday, James and the fantastic team at Drake & Morgan and D&M Kings Cross helped organising the best wedding we could have ever imagined with only 24 hours' notice. We had the best day in our lives and we are forever grateful! We especially recommend the mixology class. And we would recommend everyone to book their wedding or other event with D&M Kings Cross or one of their other venues. We had previous bookings at Devonshire Terrace and the Happenstance that fell through because of lockdown 1 and lockdown 2. In the end, we could not have been happier that we ended up at D&M Kings Cross. Thank you again!
Nice location with average food. With a modern stylistic decor. That about says it all.
Great pub, more seating downstairs. In the heart of lively kings cross Pancras square
Took like 30mins to get served a beer at the bar, the staff were deliberately ignoring me and my group of mates.
I love this place! However, I spotted a mouse roaming freely downstairs
Acoustics are dreadful. Flat concrete surfaces all round mean you are party to everyone's conversation.
Over zealous staff. After waiting at the 3 deep bar for service, I was TOLD to wait again on the other side of the room because, as I waited, a rope barrier had been put up indicating a private area and I couldn't order from there any more.
A thoroughly unpleasant experience. There are plenty of alternatives in the area.
Nice atmosphere and the staff are very friendly but breakfast was quite disappointing - the chicken was dry and the waffles were too sweet, like the store bought toaster kind you get. Just felt a bit poorly planned, which was a shame as the location and the staff were lovely!
Wonderful spacious venue, it's huge.
Food is great, fresh and tasty. They cater to everyone, vegan, gluten-free as well as grilled options from land air and sea.
I tried Cod Tacos which were interesting and tasty.
I called about an hour in advance on Sunday to book a table and they were helpful and accomodating.
Service is good and they gave us sufficient space and were courteous.
I will definitely visit this place again when I have a mixed crowd of people with varied dietary requirements.
Lots of choice on the menu, and good size portions. A nice lunchtime choice!
Very mediocre - starters were nice. Mains very unsatisfactory wouldn t come back. Do not get the jerk chicken.
Upstairs has the atmosphere of a suburban all bar one. Downstairs the DJ plays music from early 2000's to a crowd that still thinks it's new. The actual bar downstairs is shabbily run. A sea of agonised faces waiting for drinks, very little interaction between staff and customers. I asked for a whisky sour to which the cocktail waiter pleasantly and with a smile groaned because "it's a difficult drink" fine I didn't order that from him and got a serviceable negroni instead.
Very well organised- we were a party of 8, and they provided little cards with all our preordered food on (usually you have to try to remember what you chose 6 weeks ago!)
Food was okay - some lovely, some a bit bland.
Service efficient and mostly friendly.
The restaurant was clean, and the outside decorations were pretty. But it was very noisy - if they could add some partitions or furnishings to absorb some noise it would be easier to chat.
Had a lovely breakfast here. Good food, nice atmosphere. Not too pricey and not terribly busy for the area. Great if you have an hour to kill before a train
Fantastic place! Absolutely huge inside with a lovely bar and restaurant. Food was delicious and decently priced, they also have outdoor seating so we were able to bring our dog who had a great time! Would really recommend! Service was great too and they even brought a dog bowl so Freddie could have a drink!
Great food and service. Also a very cosy place to spend some time inbetween flights!
Very nice club, large variety of beer and cocktail nice music and people. Ideal for nights with friends. Environment quite smart but not exclusive.
Lovely food and really great staff had a lovely waiter Stefan!
Truly awful. Never waited so long for food to arrive and it certainly wasn't worth waiting for. Poor quality and poorly cooked. But the total lack of service was unforgivable.
Nice restaurant. Its big, open and laid out well. The menu is big enough and fairly reasonable price wise. The hostess was lovely, the sirloin steak was a little undercooked for my medium to well done request and it was a little tough. Tasted great though thanks to the flame grilling. Tuna was delicious too. No sides included with mains so make sure to order some. Big drinks selection of beers and cocktails.
I went here during the day for lunch. Lovely atmosphere. It wasn't crowded. Very relaxing.
I went for lunch - the service was good and the ambience was pleasant but I was let down by the food.
I had the crab linguine which was such a disappointment. The pasta was overcooked and the crab meat and sauce were completely tasteless. The dish was just a bowl of bland mush. The portion was suitable for lunch. My friends had the D&M Burger which they enjoyed but the sweet potato fries were cold when served.
The plum tea was great , nice place and good food , service was quick too and efficient thanks to Manon ( don't know if I got the name Right ) .
I wish I could leave a good review as the place is beautiful, and initially we were seated by a really lovely member of staff. I was an idiot and accidentally booked for 6 instead of 7, but we were swapped to another table with zero fuss even though it was busy and fully booked, and that was very much appreciated. However we were then attended by another member of staff. Her manner was a little abrupt which is fair enough when it's a very busy brunch time on saturday but we got very little service and twice had to go and find someone when we needed something. When our food did arrive one eggs benedict was cold and another was completely overcooked. Of course it's difficult to juggle when food comes out with a table of 7 people but we had to again walk to find someone, and when our waitress came back there was no apology, and only offered some free tea which only knocked a couple of pounds off. Fine - but then we were accidentally overcharged anyway by the price of another entire meal, and we had to trek again to ask for the difference. Totally understand that it was a busy time but having worked as a waitress myself, I can say a more friendly and less eye-rolling manner of service would have gone a very long way to a better review
Very busy after work on a Thursday night. Took a very long time to get served.
Staff behind the bar worked very hard, but may there should have been more!
Part of the problem seemed to be the bar staff doubled up as mixologists.
Cocktails take time to mix!
May be a separate cocktail area?
At about 9:30. We were directed downstairs to buy drinks whilst still sitting upstairs. So went downstairs only to be told there was no IPA (which three of us were drinking)
Therefore ordered Hop House.
Back up stairs noticed people were still being served at the bar. When I enquired about this I was told the customers were from the restaurant! Ridiculous system!
Great for a group of 6. Lots of suitable tables. Music but not too loud. Lovely interior. Great service and nice food. Well done Drake and Morgan - hosted a group of senior hospitality managers and buffs without getting a single complaint!
We've been to Drake and Morgan several times before lockdown and really like the place but on our first visit post lockdown, although the social distancing was adhered to, the service was poor. We were left waiting 20 minutes just for our drinks order and eventually had to go to the bar to order again (even though it table service only).
A noisy bar that is overcrowded and has little atmosphere. The beer was fine but the customers all shout at each other at the same time, rather than having casual conversations. Just too noisy and nowhere comfortable to sit because someone had reserved all of the seats for a function!
Very nice spot in trendy Kings Cross, Very nice decor, uber cool. However the food was a disgrace I'm afraid to say. Menu very limited.Asked the very nice but badly briefed waiter to explain a starter option, he could not, and my wife ended up with two plates, one of salami and one of smoked ham.Nothing else no bread no olives just meat.!! Just wrong . We ordered calves liver and a medium rare sirloin. The liver came smothered in onions[, no mention of this on the menu.]The steak arrived very very rare, I had to send it back, the chips where soggy and not hot. by the time my steak reappeared my wife had finished her meal. Got to say the wine was good, however the first option was out of stock. I refused to pay for the steak and to be fair was knocked of the bill straight away. Not a great experience. Shame great looking restaurant let down by shocking food. Sort it out management !!.
Came here for brunch as a party of 3. 30 minute wait time which is acceptable for a Sunday brunch. The waitress said if we had a coffee we could be on the waiting list which was either a weird way of phrasing the sentence or worse, a poor policy. Ordered coffee and the bar tender didn't wait for the alternative milk options and only took one alternative milk order. We waited downstairs but there was no table service to take our coffee mugs away. The waitress hadn't actually put our name on the waiting list so I had to go back and remind her. The coffee was awful, the cappuccino had grains in it. The machiatto was too bitter but the hot chocolate with almond milk was OK. Decided to leave the venue and have brunch elsewhere.
Fancy. I'd go there for drinks with friends or for a very light meal.
Casual , good setting. Nice environment. Lovely staff. Food and drink good. Will go again. You may need to book, it gets busy.
Massive place with plenty of seating. Normally busy but you can still have a decent conversation....
We done a cocktail masterclass, and had a 3 course meal. It was a fantastic experience. I am planning our next visit
Very nice place. Service was ok. Gin could be serve better considering the price
Delicious spicy food, great choice of wine and friendly service. Make sure to have a reservation.
Great location and lovely decor, only had drinks so far but looking to have food soon as it looks like a really nice menu.
The reason for a lack of 4 stars is quite poor service. To be clear the individual staff members were actually quite nice but my issue was that I stood at the down stairs bar for over 10 minutes with plenty of staff kicking about to then be told to go upstairs as the down stair bar was closed (fair enough - sort of). I then went upstairs and again I stood waiting for about 5 minutes before anyone approached me for service (the bar was empty) and again there were staff walking about but they didn t seem focused on serving which is odd given I wanted to spend money!!
I m sure it will improve
Dave
Love the atmosphere, staff are nice. Good for groups
Arrived 5mins before last orders. Slow barman took 6mins serving the person in front then refused to serve me and my girlfriend. Rules may be rules but absolutely no apology and his attitude stunk. No other staff seemed interested to serve or help.
We went there specifically, we won't be coming back.
Food was mostly good (except baked beans were inexplicably stone cold).
Food took an hour to come.
Service was pretty terrible. Surly, inattentive, hard to catch attention just to order additional coffees, we were never asked if we wanted anything else.
"optional": 12.5% service charge was added to the bill. I am normally a good tipper but would never choose to offer that much for such lousy service.
Excellent! The service was absolutely fantastic, food hot and delicious and an excellent atmosphere.
Absolutely adorable and vibrant place. Great ambience. Food is good but needs improvement.
Awesome Friday night party. The music could be better though :)
A very noisy place to eat in the evinings difficult to hold a conversation definatly a bar environment when busy. Food was OK but felt a little over priced in comparison to quality. Portions are OK but steak comes with no sides all sides are extra. Toilets were messy on my visit with hand dryers not working. Service was a little slow with sides late to the table.
Average. Had a Christmas Dinner here and the food was standard, nothing to complain about there. Around 50% of the staff were professional, the others lacked some customer service skills.
Careful going down into the basement, a large collection of cretins took up residence down there.
This place is usually great, nice ambience and decent drinks. The service wasn't the best today and the food was below the standard expected of such an establishment.
Had my first roast of the season... 3/5 wouldn't recommend. The turkey was incredibly dry, even more that it usually is (explains why they drown it in gravy!)
My friend however had the vegan burger and loved it.
Nice decor, good music, plenty big enough. Food was good but not mind blowing. Usual vegan burger with activated charcoal buns were a bit chain restaurant-esque. Not mind blowing but certainly nice. Drinks were good but service was slow/ inconsistent behind the bar.
Yoanny is the best! Fully looked after me on a date and was charming and attentive! Kept our table clean, replenished our drinks and was a total babe while doing it! Thank you!
Decent place with decent food. Went for a birthday meal on a Saturday night, music is loud so if your looking for a quiet meal you won't find it here. The service was ok, could of been quicker to serve us, had chicken wings and the rib-eye steak was quite tasty. Some of my friends said their food was abit bland, club downstairs seemed pretty live but our group moved on to another place.
Waited 1 hour and 20 mins for the starter to be served, even when preordered. And the food was really just OK. Ended up leaving after starter only. What else I can say
Myself, Son & Partner spent our evening here for New years.
Lovely venue. Food Was amazing.
Only downfall on our 1st experience was we was sat between the bar where you can be seated and a walk way where the dirty plates and cutlery is taken back to the kitchen.
A waitress was carrying a load back to the kitchen and a knife fell off the plate onto my back. The waitress said sorry am I okay whist still trying to juggle the pile she had, I would have expected for her to take what she had to the kitchen and then come back to see if I was actually okay but didn't seem that concerned or maybe embarrassed that she had just dropped a knife on my back.
Came on a Friday, great food and drinks, brilliant service from Jesse. Would definitely recommend!
Busy bar just behind Kings Cross station. Good selection of drinks. Gets very busy after work. Staff are speedy and there's plenty of them about
Great after work spot with your mates. Busy yet amazingly spacious. Good buzz. You can stay till closing or start here and continue on elsewhere, both work well. Just be patient with the bar downstairs and you ll enjoy more
Terrible service. Staff more interested in checking the tills than serving customers. Poor environment. Some ripped fabric stools and bad lighting. Much better bars around St Pancras area.
The space is modern and cool. Well laid out over 2 floors. The food is pretty good not exceptional tho. On my visit the service was poor-very slow, missed orders and grumpy staff. Sadly no repeat visit planned.
I thought this place was really quite good, relaxed for a drink and some food. Our waitress was lovely and attentive, we thought initially she was being overbearing but actually she was lovely and it was just good service. The music was cool and relaxed. Just a bug bear of mine is I hate places that don't sign where their toilets are and I find myself wondering round aimlessly. Better signage please.
Great food and lovely staff who really took care of our group. The chicken burger is a beast be ready to get your hands dirty. All in all personally I can't think of anything to complain about.
Great Venue in King's Cross for Variety of foods, cocktails and People. Great Ambiance and Vibe. The Seafood platter was amazing. I will definately re-visit! Absolutely lovely place !!! It is really a beautifully decorated restaurant in King's Cross.
Nice place to have a drink but the food (fish & chips) was poor - chips were very dry and tasteless. I did speak to the staff about it and was offered more chips but l declined. Disappointing.
One of the best bars in London. Very nice mix of people and service is amazing. Great vibe, spacious, nice drinks.
This was my first visit to D&M and for sure not the last one. The restaurant is cozy, beautifulI and the ambience it`s excellent! In this restaurant you can enjoy delicious food served by a friendly and professional staff (thank you Donatella, and the rest of staff for lovely evening).
If you want to have a good time with delicious food, you have to visit this place!
Way way too noisy. The food is average at best, but priced to be more than it is. The vibe is a bit chaotic - staff are decent, polite but overall it s a bit confused what it wants to be.
The staff are disrespectful and the security are rude and kicked me after having one lemonade. It is way to expensive and the person behind the bar assaulted me.
Met our two daughters here for a very enjoyable meal. Malaysian green curries all round
Good place for group dinner as lots of space...Chicken wings were AMAZING but the the Calamari was bland. The pulled pork could be better. Cocktails tasted lovely but took about 20 mins to arrive. Desserts are hit and miss. Service seemed really good and quite fast, they were very accommodating when we needed an additional chair.
Really great meal was had by our team last night, the staff all looked after us and even though it was clearly very busy, we had live music entertainment and the service was efficient and attentive, certainly a strong team working there! Food was delicious and we will be back next week!
Super cool vibe. Was only there for one drink because I was the late arrival in my group. So definitely be revisiting this spot!!
Had my office Xmas meal here. The food was very good and they accommodated our party of around 60 without any problems. If you like very large bar / restaurants you'll love this place.
Possibly the slowest service I have ever experienced. It took at least 40 min to get a drink, and it was not overly busy.
Arrived on an busy evening but the front staff offer us straight away to sit at the bar which is actually really nice. At the end our waiter got a free table and offered it to us. He was super lovely and helpful about vegan and gluten free options. Food was ok. The wild rice dish was completely bland to be honest and have not eaten it.
As always we visited today enjoyed a lovely breakfast made special again by your lovely staff , especially Tito .
He is a gem .
Yoanny gave us superb table service. Really made not want to leave.
A great place for a smart casual vibe, relaxed yet still sophisticated and chique. Would recommend for small business events or a social gathering.
Lovely vibe. Good prices. Nice food... I had to all for more syrup for my pancakes but they were very quick to sort it. Great location near the station to spend some time while waiting for a train.
Food was good. Location is nice, and convenient for meeting people travelling into Kings Cross or St Pancras. Most people had the food served well, although ours was quite staggered but to their credit they gave us a big discount for that.
Very good food! But service was not very good, had to wait for out table, table next to us got food and drinks before We Did, though we ordered first. Had to wait for water throughout the whole meal. Had to wait for more wine. Didn t ask if everything was ok. Confused bartender.
From the outside it's all very appealing...cute decor and very nice place in general. The rest of it however is not that great. Service was slow and not great. Food itself was pretty terrible. We went in for brunch and I got an eggs benedict that arrived cold. Definitely not worth the money.
I had booked a table for drinks and apps for 6 people 6:45pm on Tuesday. I arrived first and asked to order a charcuterie platter, but was told the kitchen was closed. At 6:45pm. Apparently they weren t managing the orders and demand and More
Lovely place - service was great (Sienna was very helpful and lovely) - the prawns tacos were delicious - the ricotta was very tasty but I personally think it needs something like bread - the buttermilk chicken with waffles was delightful! The combination with the chillies is excellent! - the hummingbird cocktail is sweet and the feather is a nice touch! - you might have to book for the restaurant area because it looks busy!
Food is absolutely terrible. So bad I m still trying to make it through my meal as I type this. Friend ordered chicken for a main and got a tiny breast with half a mushroom chopped up. I ordered steak which was cold. Other friend ordered veggie burger which tasted horrible. Appalling.
Had a lovely meal here, the drinks and food were quite tasty. Really busy but it was a Friday night. The waiting staff were very much on hand and quick to help with any questions.
Dreadful place. Visited for some pre-dinner drinks with a group of friends. Bar staff were very rude. Had a G&T and the tonic was either very weak or just soda water. Staff were rude, tasted it and said "Nah, it tastes great". They couldn't be bothered.
Slow service and food is not great. My family ordered 4 of the jerk chicken and it was the driest chicken I have ever eaten.
Pretty good food. Service was solid. A little pricey for the quality.
Good food, amazing atmosphere, lovely drinks. Could do with more of a selection for vegetarians.
Very nice place the decoration is really nice. The food is medium quality.
