We stayed here last night. The rooms were sub standard. Bathrooms were small. Amenities were basic just soap and shampoo. The ultimate kicker though was the extremely rude staff at the front desk.

My brother in law left a suitcase in the closet of the room on accident. When we came back two hours later to get it, the front desk staff member Taryn was extremely rude and hostile to him and just generally spoke down to him. She threatened to charge us a late check out fee. When we asked to speak to the manager Fernando, he too was extremely hostile and had a horrible attitude towards us. He waived the fee, but when my brother in law was still upset about the way they were speaking to him. He then threatened to charge the late fee again. This was extremely shocking behavior to us as we felt like he was trying to hold the late check out fee over our heads. We eventually got our suitcase back but they treated us and our honest mistake as if it were some heinous act we'd committed against them.

Regardless of the fact that it's a holiday weekend, that doesn't give them the right to speak to customers like that. We have always been loyal Hilton honors members but are genuinely considering not staying at any other Hiltons because of this experience.

Nice and clean, close to the metro.

going to San Patrick there is a food truck with "almost" espresso and croissants like in Italy!

The hotel location is great and very accessible. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to check in earlier than 3, but that was ok. They were doing construction in the building with jackhammers, which was extremely loud. As we're about to be snowed in, I sincerely hope that they won't resume construction since we have nowhere to go. I'm not impressed with the hotel, but not completely discouraged by it either.

Stayed in this hotel last January. Room was OK although some maintenance was needed. Breakfast was OK but quiet expensive. Big plus is location. Within 10 min range (walking) the majority of the highlights of Manhattan are there

A good location right on Lexington Avenue, 51st Station. Because it is too good location, or when there is a lot of traffic. It should be noted that it is difficult to get a car in front of the hotel and it is difficult to catch it. Is the room a standard size if you look at the hotel in the center of Manhattan? If you are staying for business purposes, it is a good hotel.

Good location, very busy. I have stayed here before, my room was in much better condition than my previous stay. The concierge Keith was actively friendly and eager to ensure that we knew he was available to assist with whatever we needed. I did have issues with my room temperature. It was very cold and uncomfortable for 2 days, even though the a/c unit was turned off. Unfortunately as it's September the hotel room heating was unavailable. The maintenance guy got me a portable fan heater and organised an extra blanket the next day which really helped.

Deceptive! I will never stay with Hilton again. The room was clean and fit the quoted price. However, the amount that I was quoted did not match what I was billed. I've spoken to the manager at the hotel the day of check out as well as called customer service who agreed the billing was incorrect. The agent said I would recieve the credit back and a week later I still have not, instead recieved an email stating the billing was correct. If I was going to spend $300 on a Manhattan hotel, I would of chosen a nicer hotel with more amenities. I chose this hotel because it was $100 less than the hotel I wanted. They do not honor their quoted written pricing!! Beware!! Very deceptive business practices!

No free WiFi (the rooms) which I'll admit was an enormous surprise. The A/C was leaking on the floor near the window where there was a pool of water soaked in the rug. Finally, the bathub did not properly drain. As a result water just remained in the tub a few inches deep. Otherwise it was decent.

Great location to stay if you need the E, R or 6 trains. Having Hilton honors Gold or Diamond status helps a lot with upgrades, free wifi, free water bottles, and breakfast vouchers. However the breakfast vouchers do not include the hot items, that's a $8 up charge, it's only Continental that is included. I would not stay here without status, it seems like you would have to pay for wifi and breakfast.

Clean hotel. Price of the reasonable night. The beds are comfortable. There is a metro station next door as well as an underground parking with valet ($ 50 per day). Within walking distance (5 min) from Park Av. And 5th Ave. Nice bar. Buffet in the morning ($ 24 p.p). By cons, no wifi (must be paid) in the rooms, only in the lobby.

Not a bad location with easy access to cabs and uber. Older property but well maintained and rooms were clean. Popular with international tourists. Breakfast is a bit meager compared to most Doubletrees. Tired of the sales pitch for Hilton vacations.

This high-traffic highrise has a good location for tourists which makes it a decent value at around $150/night, but inspect the room before you unpack. My room had thin walls, peeling paint, and a sink that smelled of sewer gas. Friendly staff willing to help with guest issues, but many rooms seem to be in serious need of renovation.

Clean, comfortable room. Busy and bustling. Friendly staff. Good location. Weird smell throughout first floor. Common spaces a bit cramped. Good for an overnight business trip, but many of the Hilton properties nearby are nicer with similar rates.

Let me start by saying that this is not a Hilton . This place is Dirty, smelly, and run down save your self some headache and money go someplace else .

Bed bugs

Bathroom is falling apart

Sheets stained

Front desk staff was extremely friendly as were the Bell staff and doorman. Hospitality staff did great keeping our room clean. We didn t even mind the bathroom size or our view. Our room seemed almost sound proof. The bed was perfect and my wife and I slept very well each night. The downsides; there is no coffee maker, fridge, microwave or room service. It seems Hilton is getting out of the hotel business and trying to become a timeshare. So if you stay expect to go down to the restaurant on the first floor each morning and pay $3 a cup for coffee. And the $$$ breakfast buffet at their restaurant? Skip it.

The location of this hotel is stellar. I was able to walk to many of the places I wanted to go, including Central Park, Times Square, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and St. Patrick's Cathedral. It is also located on the the 6 subway line, which took us to many of the other places we wanted to go. The room was clean. The curling above the shower was bubbled from steam and no ventilation in the bathroom. The bathroom door looked like a dog had scratched the paint off. They will hold your luggage for $1/piece when you drop off, and $1/piece when you pick it up. I wished that they had a room ready earlier than 3 pm since I arrived at 6 am and was dead tired, but that is the advertised check in time.

The overall experience at the hotel was great. Its conveniently located next to the subway. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our entire stay. There was a street fair/market right outside the hotel Saturday morning with alot of food and items to buy. It's a short walk to times square, grand central station, the Rockefeller center, and the United nations headquarters. The only con I have is with the hotel bathroom. It's small and was in need of several repairs. The ceiling paint was chipping and the door handle and toilet paper dispenser had water or steam damage and were bowing out of the door and wall.

It is an old hotel that has been modernized but not so much. The elevator is very old. The rooms are very small. With everything you need: large screen TV, carpeting, safe, iron with ironing board, desk to study and work, hair dryer, change of towels every day. Hot water always. The cookies are spectacular I love they are the best, I would always repeat.

Matchbox sized rooms with dirty bathroom and unmanageable temperature control for air conditioning. Not worth the amount charged. Will not stay here again. Marriott in the same area is better.

Much better than one would expect from a DoubleTree. Very satisfied with the renovated rooms, friendly staff and cleanliness. Lacks an on-site restaurant, but not really necessary with 20+ options within a block.

The location is great. The staff were helpful and inviting. The rooms have room for improvement - although somewhat modern, the room was in need of repairs. The bathroom ceiling and doorframe seemed to be rotting away due to moisture/condensation problems.

Good hotel. Great location just off a subway station. The rooms are reasonably sized. There is internet but to get the password you have to be missing at the Hilton Club. Sign up. It's free. There is no minibar in the rooms.

The front desk customer service is GREAT! I had chances to stay at this hotel before but the reviews always made me change my mind. The rooms are very nice. They should hold back on the fragrance in the lobby. Entirely too strong. Ice maker didn't work on the 7th floor. Still would have give 4 stars but no room service or corkscrews in the room. Also none when I called downstairs. I would stay again though. Nice stay and the subway was so close. Not to mention the doorman was great with restaurant advice and directions.

Stayed for two nights. Door didn't lock or completely close. Reported it to the front desk. They supposedly sent someone up to fix it while we were out. Door still didn't lock or completely close. Reported to the front desk again and they told us that they would send someone up right away. Nobody ever came. Ceiling was cracking and toilet paper roll was right over the seat. Terrible service. Manager was indifferent. They said they would do an investigation and would email me. Never received an email.

Typically America. The hotel looks good on the surface. There is a star for that and for the location.
Otherwise this is an unclean hotel. The bathroom ... disaster. 8 drill holes above the towel rail not plastered.
Silicone is moldy
Bathtub completely dirty. Rusty and the exhaust air was inoperable. Air conditioning was filthy, crumbs in the cracks you could see, chair cushions torn.
So the hotel won't be back.

I have spent very little time in NYC and, believe it or not, this was my first-ever overnight stay. The Doubletree Metropolitan was perfect. It was centrally located to everything I needed to do. The staff was helpful and the room was nice. If you're staying in Manhattan, I think the Doubletree Metropolitan is perfect.

I have stayed here before, and the previous experience was much better. Despite a huge remodel, it's still a bit drab and non-functional. The bath tub had a lot of rust, and the bedroom itself smelled. Of what, I'm not sure, but it resembled urine. Not sure if it was the bed, carpet, etc. When I checked out, the receptionist seemed annoyed about this issue and simply said, "we'll take care of it," not the response I expected.

Stores close by, subways are close by, there is a bar, breakfast is available both as the continental and American breakfast, clean rooms. You are also given fresh baked cookies when you arrive! This hotel goes out of their way to make sure you are comfortable.
