A fine science museum although often crowded & parking and traffic can be a pain. Many of the exhibits don't work, but it is still a worthwhile museum for families with elementary school children.

My three homeschooling kids and I had a really great time here! We used our ASTC Passport to get in free. There's so much to do it's almost overwhelming, but the place is designed well. My kids loved the rock climbing wall and all of the hands-on exhibits, and especially Dino Quest and the Mission Control Center. The shopping cart and recycling games were really challenging! We learned a lot and had a lot of fun. We also paid to watch a 3D movie about the Galapagos. It was ok, the kids liked it but it wasn't quite as interactive as other 3D movies we have seen. The Lion Guard exhibit was really adorable and my 3 year old absolutely loved it! Everywhere we turned there was something new and fun to do and touch. Bought a really cool science book at the gift shop and ate some yummy puffy pancakes and iced chai at the cafe.
The discovery cube is great The first time around, I'm hoping that my kids will be as excited the next time around. We purchased a 2 yr pass and hope that they can keep adding to the displays that will keep the kids interested.
My kids loved it and I get the the pass for the year two adults and 4 Kids for a hundred bucks for the year can't beat. Oh yeah you get two years for $150
Free for teachers, fun for all ages, and a swarm of kids everywhere. There's a giant dinosaur that kids can climb inside and a contraption that allows you to hoist your rugrats up several feet in the air via pulleys. For maximum fun ask a stranger to hold onto the rope for a moment while you take a picture. Step back, then quickly go to the bathroom.
Without the special activities like the bubble festival, I think it will get old real fast, but the year round activites makes the yearly membership worth it. My kids always have a great time here.
This place is amazing. Tons of fun things to do with kids. The facility is pretty big, friendly staff and the exhibits change all the time for kids. Cool place
Kids 10 & under will love it here. They change exhibits every few months so there is always something new. The best temporary exhibit was one over the summer, the DC superheroes! My girls loved it!! My daughter had the courage to go out in public (in a cast and crutches) at this exhibit and I'm so happy she did because she felt so amazing after! She's all better now and I really hope they bring this exhibit back because it is one of my faves. Also, The OC location has a wonderful dino exhibit perfect for all the little ones. I'll be back soon! Membership is worth it as 2 or 3 visits pays for itself. I would suggest having wheelchairs available for rent for those guests with temporary or permanent difficulties -I brought my stroller just in case she needed a break and she did!
Don t get an annual pass if you want to come early on the weekdays. There are field trips almost everyday, lots and lots of kids sitting eating their lunches and blocking the walkways. All the while there is a huge eating area where they could be eating their lunches, but obviously the employees here do not care. So if I would have known this beforehand I would have NEVER bought the annual pass. No refunds here for the annual passes. What a disappointment! Also stuff looks old and dingy this place needs upgrading.
The bubble show is definitely great, but the rest is ok for the kid it was not the first pick for them to release their energy,. I will go for the show.
My kids love this place, I love the air conditioning in the summer. Sometimes it gets too busy but the annual pass + parking is a good deal for frequent visits.
Came here for free as part of ASTC passport program. The first floor had the typical children's/ science museum exhibits. The other floors and outside were amazing! Very unique, high tech, educational, and a lot of fun! Everything was well maintained and working.
I use my BOA free entrance try to experience the place with my kids. Saturday they don't let me in since the program only workable at Sunday. That's first time I heard . I come back again at Sunday. They said I have to pay the ticket for my child since he is three. That's first time I have the problem to join the first weekend free visit in BOA program. I just think that's fine. I paid and got in. Everywhere are people in the small building. Not much fun to see for kids. I am so disappoint to visit the place. I won't introduce the place to anyone. You can have better choice to go California Science Center.
My review is based on my experience with a physical disability. Due to my son's medically fragile condition, I was excited to finally visit the Center and its "Bubble" exhibit. I was shocked to pay the $65 admission fee (I had to pay more to sit closer to the front due to my son's disability, even after I informed the cashier) but I was more disappointed, trying to locate the ONE hidden elevator. The bubble concert was the highlight of our visit, but the exhibit was geared towards healthy and physically inclined children. I searched throughout the center for wheelchair height and less physical activities and sadly, close to nothing. The staff was very friendly but most seemed just as confused as me. The center is clean but the restrooms aren't equipped with enough changing tables (I believe only one) in each restroom and there was a line of mothers waiting to change their babies diapers. Continuing my search, I was warned that the museum was closing after being there for only an hour. I kindly spoke to the manager about the limited handicapped accessibility and he apologized, then agreed. He had to help me out the front-door because not even the centers entrance, has an automatic push-button. The center has a lot to improve on and needs to mindful of all children's and some, with limited abilities.
We had a great time. There was a lot to see and do. Everyone enjoyed the hands on experiences. You need about 4hours to see and do it all. Fun for adults and children of all ages. Reason I did not give 5 stars is because we were visiting from San Diego and took the train in Anaheim. I had the kids booster seats with me. The staff at Discovery Cube refused to store them for me and they do not have lockers.
My kids (1.5 and 4.5) had a blast there. They enjoyed most of the exhibits. Especially the stuff on the grocery store and the Lion Guard. The latter was part of their rotating exhibits. Also the cappuccino was surprisingly great as well.
The bummer was that parking was six dollars on top of the tickets to the Cube itself.
The museum had a number of traveling exhibits, many geared towards the holidays, as well as permanent exhibits for kids of all ages. Most are interactive. This is a great way to spend time with your children in an active learning environment that is fun for all.
This place has been the same for 6 years. I started taking our oldest here when he was 2 and it s virtually untouched since that time. Took all of our kiddos here last month and they said nothing had changed since 18 months ago when we came last. Donors need to help out and upgrade the whole center.
We drove from the IE and right when we get there, the power goes out. They refunded tix and parking and gave free tix for another day. Overall great customer service
The place is busy but the kiddos get to learn different areas of the sciences hands on and its loads of fun for them to see them interact with the exhibits.
Great exhibits and lots of space for kids to run around. Only drawback is sometimes it's busy, especially at the end of the week. And the games are sometimes out of order. But that hasn't happened too often in our experience.
Overcrowded, dirty and lack of information. We got here at 330 on a sunday and they were closing at 5pm and charged us full price without disclosing they were closing!! Omg?? Anyway its a learning center, and we were there for the doc mcstuffins exhibit and the was QUITE disapointing. I really should have gotten our money back! I had one good experience there years ago, but this one is a hard one to make up for. The fire marshals should check this place for the amount of people they let in. Sorry discovery!!
Went on a Saturday and was really crowded. The displays are nice but no one has control over them so children were fighting to interact with displays and some parents just let their kids do whatever they want. Was okay will not be back
I think the Discovery cube is more appropriate for younger children. My 8 and 10 year old kids enjoyed it but we're not really awed by any of the activities. I would suggest adding a section for older kids and maybe overall update of the place especially their restrooms.
My daughter and I really enjoy it here but I just can't give it 5 stars. It seemed that half of the displays or projects, or whatever you call them, were broken. Actually, more than half were broken and I would say almost 2/3 was down, inoperable, or broken. We also had previously purchased a $5 drink and were told we always would get free refills. I was, rightfully so, extremely skeptical as this seemed way too good to be true. I was reassured by several employees that it was indeed the deal. Of course the very next time we went that deal didnt exist and you now paid for refills. This is totally OK with me and makes perfect sense, I just don't understand why we were lied to in the first place. I was going to purchase the drink regardless, no need to act like a door to door vacuum salesman when I am making the purchase.
Always something new to see at the cube in Orange County. The kids as well as adults have a great time as well. The center has upgraded their eatry adding healthier options as well as a hands on kitchen where you can make your own meal. At the time of this post the cost for the kitchen demonstration was $20.00. Stop by this science center next time your in town.
I haven't been here since I was a kid and this place is still awesome! I had so much fun interacting with all the different exhibits. I just wish I had more time to explore everything!
A really nice place for kids to experience science. The inside restaurant is poor. Hmm, it was an educationally good place to discover and enjoyed by the kids in the American West!
Our kids all find things to be interested in (oldest is almost 11). Came with my 14 year-old nephew, who stayed interested for a little bit, but not hours and hours like the younger kids.
