Older theatre, but the performance of Kinky Boots was top tier. Would have been nice to bring in wine. 8 dollars a plastic cup is pricey by any measure. The pour was okay, but, $$$. Willing to support local theatre, so I drank it up.

Love this theater. Having been to several other theaters, this one is small but a perfect atmosphere. It makes it feel more at home and friendly. The people there are always a joy and the shows are always a treat. I always leave smiling and excited for the next performance they will have.

Beehive - Diamond Head Theatre

Beehive - Diamond Head Theatre

Wow!!! I have to bring my mother to watch this show. I can guarantee that you will know 95% of the songs in this feature. All classic 1960s music with a very well done narrative of the life of Women in the 60s... through music.

The start of the show felt a bit slow. Ok, I was at the preview, but i think it felt a little rough because the audience didn t know how to respond. Pulling Teeth is how could better describe it but Artistic Director John Rampage did tell the audience that the performers were ready for the audience to play along.

As the songs started, I was bobbing my head, tapping my feet, and clapping my hands. My first cheer came when You Can t Hurry Love came on... still one of my favorite songs ever. My first tear (yes, I will admit that I cry during awesome moments) came on Will You Still Love Me as they did it with so much affection. My heart jumped on Where The Boys Are because I know Connie Francis is one of my mother s favorite artists.

My A-Ha moment came when Abraham, Martin, & John. The whole company on stage with beautiful harmony touching on some of the most significant events in the 60s and the whole history of the U.S.A. At this point I was sold.

Make time the time to get to Diamond Head Theater and watch Beehive. If you do, the final act about Woodstock, which I purposely left out, will let you know that this show is worth the price of the ticket!

A fun nostalgic type of theater with talented orchestra and actors. Great costuming and stage scenery. I love how the orchestra is off to the side instead of in an orchestra pit because it's easy to see them.

Diamond Head Theatre offers very good productions in a setting that is small enough to benefit everyone in the audience, but not so small that it feels cramped. They also offer a variety of classes (acting, singing, dance) for local youth.
The building is on the old side (it's been in place for over 100 years!) And parking is somewhat limited - those are the two main drawbacks.

This is a wonderful place to see theater, to take dance classes, or participate as an actor. I just really enjoyed the people, the environment, and the positive nature of this theater.

This review is specifically geared toward their Music Theater Education class for Homeschool kids. It's fantastic that they offer the program. Very few organizations offer homeschool specific programs. My son had fun but he didn't really learn anything he didn't already know. He has been in 5 previous musicals so experience might be the reason.

My other complaint was this is the first MTE group we've participated in that did not have a legitimate production at the end of the session. Although, their 15 min show ar the end was cute.

A first-rate community theater. We have enjoyed two shows here and can t wait to see another! Parking is particularly easy with a large lot right next door and there are world class dining options like Town under a mile away. Basically a date night waiting to happen!

Just saw Murder on the Orient Express. Well done. Was very surprised to see that HNL has such a high caliber community theater putting on so many great shows. We see at least 3 per year. Never disappointed.

I have been impressed with every performance I have seen it Diamond Head Theatre I'm always amazed that amateur actors take the time to do an exemplary job with their roles. And, the theater is awesome. It is old and quaint and every seat I have ever sat in has a good view of the stage. DHT is a quality operation.

A wonderful theater for the old standards! The cast competently executes every show I've seen and there are occasionally extraordinary players. This isn't the place to find the edgier shows, though. And ticket prices for community theater (as for everything else in Hawaii) are on the high side. Season tickets are the way to go if you enjoy mainstream shows at a discount.
