An absolute must! Why else would you come here? I would strongly recommend their longest tour, the "Kantishna Experience", even if that means a VERY early start of the day. But for that you get the experience of your lifetime.

Denali National Park is my favorite National Park of all Alaska. Although all of the National parks are amazing, Denali takes the lead. Plently of areas to camp, hike, and eat. There are tons of restaurants and shops to stop at as well. Beautiful park, definitely recommend and definitely will be coming back.
Phenomenal park. Do note, it is definitely a PRESERVE first, and a park second. Do not expect many places for food or drinks. Come prepared. That said, they have a great infrastructure set up for moving people around.
Our tour guide told us only 30% of the visitors actually get to see Denali itself due to weather. We were very lucky because the drizzle let up...the sun came out and the clouds lifted. Saw 13 grizzly bears 40 yards from the bus...tons of caribou and fall sheep in the distance. Our tour guide Liddy was awesome...and very knowledgeable. She was also good at spotting wild life along with driving on some narrow curving roads.
Absolutely beautiful! Saw lots of caribou, moose, grizzlies, Dall sheep, and various small critters. Even got a glimpse of Denali itself. Shuttle bus driver was very friendly and the system is quite flexible.
The Park itself was beautiful , we took the bus tour and that wasn t so great !! The bus seats were uncomfortable !! if you happen to get the seat in the middle you can t see out the windows for all the other people in the way that didn t seem to care if you were able to see or get a photo , then there s the bus driver Kim or Mik as she put it we found her to be very annoying , no one !! but her could talk but then she did enough to make up for the rest of us , she drove fast on the rough gravel roads beating us to death then on the pavement she drove so so slow , then on the way back when ask to stop to look at a caribou that was close enough to see for a change she didn t want to stop , her comment was well how many times have we stopped to look at a Caribou today so we went right on by , and that was only a few of the many things that she did that day , good luck if you get her as a tour bus driver , also a few more stops with time to take some photos would be nice , with her you just barely had time to use the restroom and no time to take photos for fear of her leaving you behind !!
This place is unique and it's a must see during your trip to Alaska. You must choose one of the official tour buses. It's the only way to see parts of the park you wouldn't see otherwise. We are planning to return there next time we are in Alaska. They have campgrounds and RV parks, but they need to be booked far in advance. Highly recommended.
Best season is during the warmer summer months. There is not much wildlife in the winter due to hibernation. Denali also has a rich and amazing flora. Wildflowers begin to bloom in early June till late July. There is only one road in Denali. Private vehicles can drive a small part of it, but most of the road is open only to bus traffic. Bus trips are available only in summer (roughly mid-May through mid-September). All bus trips are operated by a private company with a contract to do so - not by the National Park Service.Denali is definately worth it. Spend some time and get off the bus and do some hiking in Denali. Also, if you can afford it - try to go on a Mt. McKinley flight tour with a company like Talkeetna Air Taxi, or someone else.Three days will get you deep into the heart of Denali National Park in a way that is much more enriching than a quick day visit. You'll have time and space to soak in the grandeur and the vastness of Alaska's most iconic national park. Three days in Denali is just good for the soul!
Denali NP is by far, the most beautiful national park that I ve been to! The beautiful scenery is mesmerizing! I d the opportunity to visit in winter and summer. I m planning to visit during fall as well. The park is very crowded in summers. Make sure to plan ahead and make reservations as needed. You can t drive past the savage river check point. We did the savage alpine trail in the summer. It was exhilarating and offered so many beautiful views of rolling green meadows. For a few moments I was wondering if this may be what Scotland looks like(based on my naive imagination from looking at photos). In the winter, late February, we just drove to mile 15(savage river check point) and did the easier savage river trail. The trail had packed snow and was clearly marked. We didn t use snowshoes or even crampons. Everything was in white and black and beautiful! It was such a contrast to the greenery that I d seen in summer! My friends and I also did the horseshoe lake trail. The lake was gorgeous in its frozen form! During both my visits, I couldn t see Denali itself! That is how fickle the mountain visibility is! The rangers at the visitor center were super friendly and helpful!
The park is fantastic but the National Park should get rid of the company making the bus/campground bookings. They are completely useless and have no clue sitting somewhere in Arizona or so. Almost every single piece of information I received via several agents regarding the bus or the campground was wrong. They also charged about $80 too much; the nice NP person at the park entrance realized this and reimbursed us. The service of the company was awful; the NP should go back to doing these booking arrangements itself with employees who know the park. I am Alaska resident and have been in the park many times but this was the worst booking experience ever..
Denali is a great place but the experience is being ruined by too many people. You get crammed in to a bus with people, I swear have never seen an animal before. The shrieking and yelling get annoying real fast. Only 30% of people ever see Denali. It is usually shrouded in clouds. If you want a better experience, rent a car and drive to Seward. Get on a tour boat and see the sights. Still a lot of people but only takes 1 day and the drive is spectacular.
Our entire trip to s Alaska was incredible, but Denali was truly unbelievable. Our first day in we were lucky enough to have a good view of the mountain from atop Mount Healy, but even in the clouds the entire park was incredible.
Being able to ride the bus and get off and hike almost everywhere was a new experience, and definitely something everyone visiting should do. You can see a lot of spectacular views and wildlife from the bus, but getting off trail and seeing the animals from the ground made it extra special.
Wow! Never thought I would give 5* to something with an 8 hour bus ride. We had great weather for mountain and wildlife viewing but YMMV widly as clouds/mist often obscure the mountain.
Book a tour bus or drive to certain hight. Private cars won't be allowed till very end. We couldn't see many animals other than some mooses... But if you are lucky u might come across a bear. The overall drive is fun and photogenic.
It's a must in Alaska. Take the green shuttlebus all the way to Wonder Lake and back - 11 hours. You'll see the same as you would from the overpriced expedition-busses.
I visited this park in the winter months, unfortunately you can not visit the whole park in these months. Even the visitor center is only meagerly occupied. Nevertheless, the park is worth a trip in winter, snow, sun, moose, bear tracks, etc. Who loves nature, is just right. Snow-capped peaks, frozen rivers of crystal clear water. You only have to wear snowshoes off the beaten track, otherwise you'll be in the snow up to your hips. Have fun.
Great place! Spectacular views of the mountains and the rivers! I saw 2 Caribou that went in front of the tour bus and kept walking on the road for at least 10 minutes. One moose came so close to the tour bus while eating. An illusive lynx stood still looking at us, a chance to take pictures - a very rare opportunity. We spotted 2 mama bears with cubs playing on the hills. After 102 years, the park still provides wonderful experiences to the visitors. It was an amazing visit of Denali!
Very scenic drive from Fairbanks, visitor center has alot of info and exhibits. And these Moose greeted us! And also alot of shops close to park road turn off. Not a huge sign for park. Just a small sign and watch for the Park rd. Sign.
Staff was knowledgeable and helpful in planning our visit based on time and activity. We had no idea you could only take the bus around the park and that it took 12 hrs to get to the end. You can only drive your vehicle the first 15 miles so we hiked from the visitor center to the dog sled kennels, watch a demonstration of the dogs, then can back and ate some food (a bit expensive). Despite the rain we enjoyed looking at the trees and mushrooms. We still had a great time and will revisit.
One of the most breathtaking parks I have been to!!! Something to see wherever you go within the park whether the scenery or the wildlife it will amaze you!!!
Hard to overstate the pure wonder of this place. Everywhere you turn there's movie scenery. Lots of amazing wildlife keep a respectful distance, though.
