A great place to visit if you want to see some old culture
It's nice enough but when you've visited it so many times it's a little boring
Interesting and interactive museum. Especially loved the flats from 1974.
If you are in aarhus this is a must. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to explore.
Great open air museum. Beautiful houses and scenes.
All I can say is this is a must go place. Go back in time with Den gamle by. Just don't think or wait go and visit ASAP.
There is a lot to see and discover. You can also go to different houses and see the way people from different epochs worked or lived.
. There are also z. B. Also an old baker where you can shop. Lots of nice details.
For this you should plan 4-5 hours. There is a lot to discover. Very nice facility. If you do not want to buy anything in the restaurants / snack, you can bring your own food.
Found this museum very interesting we only had a short time on a trip but could have stayed a lot longer the history was fascinating we had a very knowledgeable guide
Nice educationally trip back to the years of 1700-1800 , the year 1927 and year 1974. Wow
It's so nice with the age you move in. The memories emerge. There is thought new thinking with 3d, it is fat made and you get caught up with time. There is a lot you have to touch and try at different times. But rather go a step too far and see if there is anything
One of the best places in Denmark. It's l like having a trip in time
One of the best open air museums in Europe with lively reenactors and highly detailed settings and stories for each building. This should be part of any trip to Denmark.
World class museum. It is so unique and so great with kids and families as well as for individuals. Don't miss this when in Aarhus.
Cozy sight and exciting exhibitions, such as "Aarhus tells".
However, there were areas under construction and maintenance.
Super place!!!! You can learn a lot about old Denmark and have fun
One of the best places in Denmark to see what life has been likein the earlier days.. Great fun for the whole family, especially for the bit older one of you, to show your children and grandchildren how you lived
An exceptional museum, different from the usual outdoor museums of rural life. Here the town houses have been reconstructed with all the various furnishings. It really feels like a trip to the past. Even the various internal museums (the beautiful one of toys) and the exhibitions are not to be missed.
A good address for young and old to learn about earlier times. There is a lot of love for detail and you can touch and try a lot.
Super museum. It's a lot of fun.
Especially 10 per adult is great.
Amazing how three different eras of Denmark are revived!
A unique experience. This place takes you back in time to admire Danish life in the 19th century. Buildings, streets, transport, extras, museums, absolutely everything is a delight. I recommend acquiring the map and the step-by-step guide and making a short stop at the pastry shop.
The new exhibitions under ground and the part with apartments from 1974 is very nice :)
Loved our time here. My uncle used to drive the horse and carts here. Bought my family yearly passes.
Historic place / museum where you can easily make time go by. An experience for all age groups.
You can also eat on site for reasonable money
Ok open air museum. Not as nice as the one in Lyngby. The buildings are closer to each other, which makes it easier and quicker to explore. Price is reasonable, but most stores close on the winter so you basically just walk around and inside the houses. Staff was helpful when I needed an emergency kit.
Nice old town where you can spend some hours. Offers foods and snacks, and has toilets. Souvenir stores inside, some of them has really random stuff, like a pillow with a "no to atomic power" statment. Fun for all ages. All in all, worth a visit!
As both a local and a tourist Den Gamle By is a nice and i interesting sight to visit in Aarhus.
The old buildings are beautiful to walk between and explore and the staff dressed in old traditional clothing makes the whole trip feel more authentic.
Den Gamle By is a nice mixture of culture and fun and offers alot of activities for children as well.
Definitely worth a visit!
Great, great, great!!! No only the buidings from outside but also all the workshops and interiors showing natural size craftsman at work.... MUST SEE in Denmark. Ticket for adult 130 DM.
Very interesting place, lots of things to see and worth spending a few hours here.
Amazing place, never thought I would see such a big and detailed museum...
We enjoyed it very much. Totally worth to visit with kids. But very confusing translation strategy. Some labels are available in Danish only, some in Danish and English and some in Danish, English and German.
There were some closed. When we asked for the reason we got decode due to covid19. It just seemed sought after as the other places that were open had the same or smaller size than the closed ones. But all in all, it was a good look back in time. There were not so many people visiting and this meant that there was plenty of space to see what was open
Great open air museum. With people dressed and telling stories as if they were on the old times.
Lovely atmosphere, love to walk around near the lake and old houses. Lots to see and experience for both young and adults. A must visit when in Aarhus.
This is a must visit place for any tourists. It is the best attraction in Aarhus
Very cozy, amazing feeling of time travel, intresting to see how things were back in time
The first the best. Incredible attention to detail and periodic accuracy !!!!!
Great historical exhibition. Went there for J-day and we bought one cup at the beginning and then walked around and got beer tasting in different places of the museum . Definitely recommend to go there for that event, but also in general. They also have a nice Christmas exhibition where the entrance is cheaper
You could spend all day here! Be sure to catch the time machine on aarhus exhibit towards the end of the park.. facisnating mix media engagement!
I love Gamle By. Visualize well the past, history and I never get bored of it even I visited many times. The museum is quite big. It is perfect place to spend a day there with friends, family.
The entrance is on Eugene Warmings Vej if you're wondering. Expensive but apart from the traditional streets and houses, it has quite a few other entertaining attractions such as a playground, a boat and horse-drawn carriages, and a museum about Aarhus' history (surprisingly large). There is also a clock/watch museum and 'Queen's wardrobe' (neither were that exciting). There is free parking on some of the neighbouring streets (on a Saturday we found a space on FGE Rostrups Vej). It was quite busy when we went on a Saturday afternoon in August. Note there is a lot of construction at one section of the 1974 area. See the photos for the entry price in Euros and DKK and the map of attractions there.

Great taster of Denmark through the ages. Well worth a visit!
A place out of the ordinary like
Go back to the past, you can go to an old patisserie You can have lunch in an old restaurant, stroll through alleys and see old cars, I felt that I go back to the past. Recommended, at least 4 hours or more. They close at 7pm. You can have lunch in an old restaurant. There is a discount for students with a card
Excellent atmosphere - a true travel back in time. Especially Bent J pub, where My Mother in law was a regular back then:-)
Nice place to visit for relaxing and learning about people in the past. They also have real people acting and dressing in the costume which people in the particular era wore.
This place very much take down to the old days how the Danes lived way back hundreds years ago. This is amazing place to see how the these old houses preserved so for anyone to see. The museum From the Middle Ages, half-timber has been the most common method of construction in Danish cities. The houses in the Old City actually originate from cities throughout Denmark so it very interesting to take a tour around the old village in Aarhus to experience in open air museum which amazing. I highly recommended this place.
The open air museum and old town is one of the most amazing attractions in Aarhus. It has beautiful buildings and nice architecture. The entrance is arround 20 eu. People are dressed in costumes according centuries. It is a lovely place!
Excellent living museum, many things do discover and learn. A good way to spend an afternoon
Fantastic visit, funny that such a young girl of 60 has come to the museum.
Lovely place with many experiences,
Very historical, interesting, and unique! A must see if you visit Denmark and are close to Aarhus!
Awesome village! Even though there were some sights not very suitable for children...
Amazing place with great interest. Very cleverly put together and now with new area with great reminiscing of 50 years ago.
Not only open-air museum. It's a living town where you can see houses from 1600s up to 1970s and learn how people lived and worked in the past. Don't miss interactive exbitions in different museums. All included in one ticket. You can spenta whole day in this "old town".
Fascinating insight into how people lived in the 19th and 20th century. Very well preserved buildings with items inside which are correct for the period. Lots to see and do. Fun and educational.
Open-air museum and a great way to experience the past, the history of the city and its inhabitants from the Viking Age to the present.
An incredible journey through time to 19th and 20th century Denmark. The buildings are immaculately well preserved and furnished with authentic articles. We took a horse buggy ride through the town, ate delicious confections, and found souvenirs in the shop. I highly recommend Den Gamle By. It surpassed my every expectation.
The old town is really cozy and a nice time pocket and worth a visit.
Not what I was expecting! Incredible detail and captivating look back in time
Ideal place to spend a day at. It felt as if I traveled back in time. Unbelievable how everything was pictured. Everyone till the age of 18 goes in for free which is also a huge plus. Definitely recommended))
An interesting open air museum that contains a collection of authentic buildings. You can go into most of the buildings and see how people lived through various periods of history. There were actors to make the experience come alive even more.
The old, uneven cobblestones are not easy to walk on though, so you do have to take care.
Interesting place, better to come at morning when less visitors, after 11-12 it will be crowded and nice photos are not easy to make. Visit time 2-3 hours to cover everything but fast
The place as such is worth visiting. But be careful if you plan to do it with children. Inside the museum there is grill bar in front of the carrousel which is not child friendly at all. We went there to have a beer and eat a hot dog with 5 children and as the place does not have food for kids, we gave them some popcorn we brought. 2 minutes later, an extremely impolite waitress came to us to say we were not allowed to to that. Unbelievable!!! Don t go there if you have kids!
You really get a good understanding why the Danish people are so famous for design and architecture. This is a great photo opportunity, there is so much to be seen, so you can easily spend the whole day exploring this place.
Nice place to slowly stroll through and appreciate the common houses of the past. There is a museum which displays 1200 years of Aarhus which is truly worth visiting. It has a lot of interactive exhibits and a lot of information about the city and how the modern city came to be. You can easily spend the whole day here.
Lovely old city with a lot of house out of the whole country. Also includes a nice museum about how Aarhus rose up
