This is an open town museum in Aarhus, Denmark. They collect old houses from over Denmark and move them to the museum. All buildings are open so you can strall around the place and see how people used to live there. Highly recommend it.

Lots to see in the Old Town and it is definitely worth a visit. Allow at least 3 to 4 hours to see it all. There were queues in several places to come in and see the exhibition, but that was because there were restrictions on the number of visitors due to covid19 infection. There are exhibitions / buildings from the year 1700 until 1970 and there is something for everyone.

Have a fun day. The 1974 borough was for me a nice rediscovery it was fun to recognize things and homes from my childhood. Where was television expensive, 3 month's wages for a craftsman. Good old houses and homes are preserved. Besides 1974, it is 1927 and 1864 neighborhoods so there is really a lot to look at if you are interested in culture, history or architecture. An interesting museum where you can get scared hours to go if you enter the houses that are open. Set aside a whole day and have a great day.

I actual used to work here as a guide and had a lot fun here. This museum is great and a must see if you are in the area. Beautiful old houses from all over the country were dismantled and restored on this location. Don't forget to check out the Living History!

So much fun! Every time it gets better and better. If you are into diving into the past, checking out how people used to live and what they used to eat. Not only distant history but also 70s and 80s Aarhus. Great fun!

Probably the most affordable museum to visit. You can easily spend few hours here just by visiting and watching all the different houses and rooms in them. Also there are some nice cafes and places to grab food here! So be sure to go and check them out.

I found this place so beautiful! I could imagine that it is especially great to come here with children as a family. Many houses and buildings to marvel at and discover. Unfortunately not quite met my expectations, but it is enough for a family outing.

There is more here than can be appreciated in a single day. Historic buildings have been reconstructed, many with people carrying out the various trades and occupations. My favourite was the bakery where you could purchase traditional danish fresh baked cakes. It now includes a more modern section with post war and 1970 s buildings which included a reconstruction of a small jazz bar (where you can buy a beer and sit at the bar). The evolution of light switches and taps. The whole experience can be very immersive if you get into the spirit of it making you feel like you are really present in the past.

Den Gamle By in Arhus is a must-see place. Your trip is enough just by visiting this old village. It is like living the life at the "Beauty and the Beast" setting. Ever spot is picture perfect and the best part is, a random villager (baker, etc) will be roaming around the village for you re-live the moment. Such a great place!

I love this place. It's a real life living museum with so much to see. I have been here many times and always find something new. I particularly love the 70's exhibition because there is so much that even I can remember from my childhood. The new Aarhus exhibition is very interactive and a lot of fun, particularly for those with an interest in Aarhus. A great museum with something for all ages.

Old houses collected from around the country, reflecting life as it was as far back as 1600 - well worth the visit, and don't forget to include a visit to the poster museum, housed within.

This open air museum is a unique and interesting look at past Denmark from the mid 1800s to the 1970s. It was amazing to be taken to a past era that I remember by walking up the stairs and into the doctors office, or the electronics store. A visit here makes for a wonderful afternoon, highly recommended and suitable all ages.

Spent more than 5 hours. Can't say enough good things. So interesting that they started collecting and erecting the buildings in 1914. The attention to detail is incredible. Do not miss.

The Old Town is and will be the most amazing sight in Aarhus. The place can be enjoyed by the whole family as they are constantly renewing themselves with new initiatives from every century and even the beautiful 1974 area. Set aside an entire day for experiences, or even better buy an annual pass and come again and again as you never get enough

This city is just awesome. You should plan a lot of time as it is very large and in any case you should remember to wear good shoes that the cobblestone paths are otherwise uncomfortable.

Lovely little museum, really family focused feel. Would highly recommend. So many corners and areas to explore a lot of exciting bits to see. We loved the toy museum and their silent films.
