Nice old style hotel, in the middle of spa park, good experience.
Nice old style hotel, in the middle of spa park, good experience.
Great old hotel, surrounded by beautiful views of Saratoga Springs State Park. The rooms are not modern, but rather are large, stately, and well-equipped. A very comfortable hotel from another age.
Alex the night manager was fantastic. Loved the historic space.
We stayed here for a show at spac. Room was super clean and the staff was fantastic. It's only a five minute walk to spac. Rooms are a little dated, but this comes with a place trying to hang on to history.
My room was very large and the colors were inviting. Windows had cracks in them and couldn't close all the way so they couldn't lock. I was on the 5th floor so that want much on a concern. Tv was placed so that the whole tv had to be moved so I could spoon in to watch it in bed. Conference room was large, well lit, and comfortable. Overall, I'm not sure the hotel should be charging as much as it does for what you get. Other local hotels have indoor pools and hot tubs and done include some meals. You don't even get a continental breakfast!
Very nice place. Was there in the area walking the puppy for the day. The woman at the front desk was lovely and actually invited me inside with my puppy so that she could feed my pup.
A lovely hotel. The room is a little small but it is fully renovated. It was a good experience to live in a hotel like this with decoration and history back to the old days. The on-site restaurant offers good weekends brunch and the dinner is good as well. It is really a quiet place sitting in the center of the park. If you don't like noisy hotel right besides the highway, this one would be your choice.
Attended a conference. The facilities are top notch and the food was wonderful. The only complaint was my room, the A/C wasn't working properly. The bedrooms are a little small but this isn't a knock as this was the style . size of the times.
The Gideon is a nice place but the guest rooms still need work. The beds are comfy. They keep renovating but the bathrooms need paint clean up and some need plumbing improvements.
Historic building. Well maintained.one of the best staffs I've ever seen. Food was good. Quiet Lovely setting.
I am attending a conference at the Gideon Putnam. I only stayed for one night. The room was NOT clean. The Keurig had 2 inches of dust on it, the refrigerator had brown mold in it. I need a refrigerator as I am diabetic and follow a special diet. I did get a new one, but it did not get cold. I was told it was not to keep anything really "cold" and I could put my medication at the front desk refrigerator. I would never let my medication out of my possession and place it in a "lobby" refrigerator. In addition, when I woke this morning, my sinus were so swollen from the dust in the room, I had to move to another hotel. The manager actually had the gaul to give me attitude. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I asked for a refund for my prepaid stay.
Went to the Putnam to see glass blowing. Was not open. Very nice hotel and the oldest in Saratoga Springs, NY. Has bin remodeled and has great looking rooms. Never stay there BUT only here good thing about this hotel.
Beautiful venue. Good golf course. Very conference friendly.
Absolutely the best buffet I have ever been too. I had no idea there were so many different varieties of breakfast foods!
Very nice place, porch suite was amazing. Being within the grounds of the state park was great. So many walking trails. Staff was very good.
I'm going to be real here.....I've stayed at some really great places for a third of the cost of this place and had 5 times the experience. Yeah, I get it, history blah blah blah. Save your money, stY at the Garden Inn down the street and send me 10% of the difference as a tip. You'll thank me later.
Great hotel.
Could have a much nicer breakfast - it can t be much more expensive to serve a better breakfast.
Beds were comfy, close to everything that is Saratoga.
Would come back again.
The hotel is beautiful and historic, but the size and quality of the rooms seems wildly inconsistent.
On business travel, I had a tiny 1 bed, my colleagues room had like an adjoining sunroom and was a whole suite. We paid the same price.... that's really annoying.
I think I am allergic to the hotel. My sinuses stuffed within 10 minutes of arriving and cleared anytime I left the building.
Very nice. Renovated because of water damage over winter.
This place charges more than it should. Rooms are a bit run down, bathroom caulking is cracked, carpets worn down. Grounds are pretty, but the rooms don't warrant the costs.
Nice services, location, and room. Staff is friendly. Walls are a little thin though between my room and my neighbor because of an old connecting door. I could hear their conversations. Shuttle bus service also very convenient.
They helped us upgrade to a beautiful suite with a balcony/porch. Staff is very friendly and helpful as always.
My fiancee and I had a wonderful time here. The Gideon Putnam was clean, inviting, and has an exquisite interior. Will be returning.
Beautiful historic building in the gorgeous Saratoga Park! The room was just what we needed for our visit, and they even had a pack and play to give us for our daughter. Very convenient! The staff was all so nice and accommodating, especially with our 1 year old. The only thing we noticed that could have been better was the cleanliness of the bathroom in our room. Otherwise we loved our stay! I definitely recommend staying here if you're planning to visit the area.
Beautiful, historic, and we were well taken care of.
I am one to not write bad reviews but people need to be warned especially if you are looking for a nice place to stay. Our blinds were literally broke in half, the glass in the window was broken, there was a tick in the tub which was also filthy. The walls were full of scuff marks. And a big gash on closet door. The rug was dirty and so worn out. And no breakfast included. Decided to splurge and purchased fruit platter which the fruit was grosse and my raspberries had mold on them. You are better off staying at the Holiday Inn or The Hyatt in Malta. We have had our fair share of hotel stays over the years and this is by far the worst place ever. And what a disappointment for our 15th wedding anniversary getaway.
Great Easter brunch. Food was delicious and there was plenty of it!
Very nice hotel alot,of history there foods ok but the spa is really nice
Fantastic service, ambiance and food. Attended a 50th bday party brunch on Sunday. Great time had by all.
The hotel in itself is beautiful with so much vibrant history, but I encountered a racist/ discrimination at the restaurant part. One of the waiter, a female refused me services and asked that I leave the restaurant, that she didn t want to serve my kind. It s truly a long story and one that truly traumatised me. I don t wanna put the entire establishment down because of one person, but being a person of colour? I m not sure I d ever set foot there again.
Wonderful stay inside of the Saratoga Springs Park. Lovely staff who was accommodating and friendly! Neat hotel with lots of character, history. Very nice without being stuffy or pretentious.
It would ve been nice to see a vegan option or a dairy free option other than fruit on the breakfast bar, but it was free so I can t complain.
Great place in a great location. The park itself is beautiful and the hotel is about a 5 - 7 minute walk to SPAC. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Yes, the bathrooms are a bit cramped, but the rooms are well kept. I'd stay here again.
Place is a major let down ! My lady booked it because of it being in Saratoga and spac ! Not only does every guest have a pet but the rooms have fleas . We went out to our dinner reservations came back to sleep and I woke up to two giant bugs crawling on the window
The room was average but the rest of the hotel and grounds definitely make up for it, such a beautiful hotel the food was good, relaxing by the fireplace after a long drive made the evening.
One of the premier places to stay in Saratoga Springs, located right in the historic state park and with a short walk to golf, the automatic museum, spa s, natural springs, and one of the best music venues in NYS....SPAC. Hotel staff is always friendly, hotel is clean and recently renovated which includes a new elevator. Prices reflect SPAC events and track season. 5 minute drive to downtown, but easy to get an Uber or food delivery. Never a bad time to stay at the Gideon. Only reason it s missing it s 5th star is some of the rooms are still very dated, and cost can spiral rather quickly during events.
Stayed there this past weekend, Christian at the front desk was awesome, great attitude, upgraded us for free, excellence service, will be back.
There were fruit flies in our room during our stay. We could not determine the source of the flies. I notified the front desk and was told that no other guest at the hotel had complained of fruit flies that day.
Great service
The food is also excellent
We will be back
The spa is great and the hiking is awesome
Nice building but rooms weren't great. Doors didn't shut properly, other misc issues. This wasn't just my room but my family's as well.
I only walked around the state park, but it was beautiful.
I went to the Gideon Putnam after an event at the Hall of Springs. The bar was very accommodating for a large crowd coming in all at once and provided some late night snacks that were great.
Rolled up to the front and the service was immediately upon us. Bell hop was very nice and friendly and the concierge took care of our concerns without hesitation. Rooms are very clean. Look forward to a great weekend here.
The property is absolutely beautiful and the staff was amazing!
This place is wonderful. Friendly staff, good food... just a great place!
Very charming place. Not a modern place but a beautifully classic hotel. And talk about the perfect location. Walking distance to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, the historic town pool and rental bikes. Very nice staff. And Eric, who works at the front desk did a fabulous job arranging for flowers for me for my wife's birthday.
Went 2 weeks ago. The receptionist was overall incompetent. Asked him to book us an appointment at the mineral baths. After driving 4 hours to the hotel and then making it to the baths we were told that he did not reserve anything. He managed to screw up the booking and when we arrived the bath receptionist said nothing was booked for us while the hotel kept asserting that they did do the booking.
Overall that bald bloke with glasses working the hotel's reception on sundays is completely useless.
You're better off going to the race track and betting on horses. Put some trifecta. Better chance you'll win something than getting anything out of that hotel.
Great hotel, just a bit older and else found some ants in the to, maintenance was amazing and took care of it immediately. Bed was OK, but not amazing. It rocked a little bit getting up on different sides.
Will never return to the resort after spending 3 nights during racing season. Resort staff is in major need of training and the facility needs serious capital investment. We had two rooms. Neither shower worked (one had brown water and one didn't drain). Housekeeping was non-existent. The small restaurant was overwhelmed at every moment and incredibly slow. Patrons were having to bus their own tables. We watched one table turn over three times with glasses never picked up once! The entire resort needs a deep clean. Windows are dirty, ceilings are filthy and the furniture in our rooms was stained. Only positives were the bartenders in Putnam's and the valet parkers. It takes more than those two departments to run a successful resort.
Perfect place for my son's wedding and reception. Outstanding food, staff and beautiful place for photographs.
The Gideon Putnam is one of the great old historic hotels. And with that you need to roll with a little personality. It is not a modern luxury hotel. It is grand and wonderful. And the renovations mean clean, freshly painted rooms with new carpets. When in the garden dining area, painted dining room and entrance you come away with a real sense of a step back in time. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location can t be beat for those attending events at SPAC.
Great place for stay and a wonderful golf course to achieve smaller goals and great place for outdoor meetings.
great atmosphere surrounded by park views and tall pines, secluded but close to everything and amazing walking biking trails, lunch was exceptional great mixed drinks professional staff and great golfing. It has it all!!
Clean and quaint rooms, beautiful park grounds, shuttle to downtown, reasonable rates
Our car club went for Sunday brunch. Food was excellent, staff a bit disorganized.
Water pressure was low, bar staff was rude. Room was spacious and grounds were beautiful.
I had amazing customer service at the Gideon Putnam. I had to change the dates of my reservation that I made through Booking.com. Stephanie assisted me over the phone and gave me AMAZING customer service. She was patient, kind, and answered all of my questions. She went above and beyond and she sets the standard for quality customer service. I will be staying at this hotel in the future, and was very pleased with their assistance. We have celebrated many events here, wedding receptions, 50th birthday parties, etc.. and have always received great care. Thank you to Stephanie and the staff at the Gideon Putnam
Lovely hotel right inside Saratoga Springs State Park.
Planned for newly weds to spend the night here. They offered Champaign and something special to help them celebrate but had nothing prepared in the room. As a wedding planner I was disappointed with this service.
The room was so much smaller then the the picture showed, the large cracks in the door allowed the light to shine through the into the room, the refrigerator made a horrible noise all night and there was a loud banging noise every 30 - 40 minutes. Worst night sleep in a hotel in my life. I told the manager and she said we should of called to tell them and offered no reimbursement. For the location and the price, we where not impressed at all
Beautifully renovated historic hotel on beautiful grounds. The spa is the best part of the experience for those who are interested. A flood has damaged the building and they are in process of making repairs. We got an excellent deal on the room and was hard to resist. It's proxinity to both the food of Saratoga and the sights of the park make a trip for all. Trip was not without kinks, hotel appeared to be short staffed but made up for it in many ways.
I booked a wedding room block 13 months prior to my daughter s wedding date and it s been a total nightmare. I finally had enough with the horrible customer service that I cancelled today. The hotel is in very poor condition especially the function halls.
I went to visit other hotel properties and must say we received the RED CARPET treatment and customer service went over and above from the Hampton INN and Grand Pavilion.
Beautiful restaurant and hotel,, service was great,, love the location, it s near saratoga performing center,, beds was very clean and comfortable,, it s very affordable too
