Great location. Olde fashion rooms. Has an inn or B&B feel to it. Not really my style, but some may find it charming.

Outdated with old furniture. A/c system does not cool.
Attend a number of conferences a d meetings here. Close to Albany airport. Good bar food and drinks in the Tavern.
Very cool hotel, comfortable rooms, lovely common areas, wood fireplace always burning in lobby, nice pub and restaurant attached. Staff were all friendly, no complaints!
Great hotel, especially for people flying in to Albany. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for and it has a nice restaurant for breakfast.
We arrived at the autumn leaves of our Lake Placid and were fortunate to have found this hotel in the last minute (because we checked in and found that the rooms were booked out). We are a Marriott Platinum member, although there is nothing wrong with this hotel in this hotel, we live here for the price we paid,
Beautiful and the catered food was very good. My only problem is that one room smelled musty.
It was awesome. Ate in Simpsons. The entire staff where excellent and the special meal request of Cajun blackened salmon was fantastic!
The area that my office had the Christmas party at was amazing.
Nice hotel, and really good restaurant there. Need new beds though. It was like sleeping on a sheet of plywood. And I'm not usually that picky on beds. But this one was bad.
There for a conference. Food was good and meeting room was nice.
Very comfortable and unique. Colonial style area with big rooms. Great indoor restaurants.
Was there for a birthday event, the Desmond has a lot of character and was very clean.
Older hotel but comfortable beds with conference area for meetings/decent gym/and a restaurant
Very nice and quaint. Food is good and the prices are reasonable.
Beautiful hotel. Cute colonial theme! Food is delicious. Helpful staff. Close to the airport.
Always beautiful and such good food. The service staff is friendly and attentive. Conference rooms are comfortable too. Love this place!
Interesting place. Inside is neat though 80's wallpaper abound. The food at our function wasnt great, the beds where pretty old and flat and the hvac in my room was very loud.
Beautiful place would consider staying there..was only there for a short event
The staff was friendly and helpful. The decor and furnishings are in desperate need of upgrading. Flowered wallpaper EVERYWHERE...two thumbs down. Beds were squeaky. The rooms had a musty smell.
Room was nice some of the staff were wonderful others should move on. The individual in the gift shop should realize she is expected to interact with the public. She sure does not want to.
Easy accessiblity from the highway, very pretty inside. Staff is courteous and well organized. Things seem to be kept clean. Food is decent.
The staff that I dealt with was pleasant and helpful. The meeting space was attractive and the food was very tasty.
Looking into planning an event here, lots of space to do so.
I attended a company Christmas party in one of their event spaces. The food was good and the atmosphere worked well for the event. The staff did their job well.
Really old world feel, but comfortable. VERY quiet in the rooms. Clean.
I loved the unique way it appears you are in a small town. I was there for a conference that had a food buffet set up. The food was not what I expected - bland, flavorless, or just not good
First of all, in my bathroom...there was a pube, a dead fly, and another piece of something unknown on the wall of the shower. Everything seems to be dusty, outdated, and dirty. The key cards are easily deactivated electronically. There s only two pillows on the beds. The windows go to the courtyards within the hotel where a wedding is being held during my stay. There are very odd paintings throughout the rooms and the wallpaper and carpeting is extremely outdated. The elevators seem to be unsafe. I could go on and on, but i ll stop. 10/10 would not stay again. Gives me the vibe that I am going to be murdered or have a paranormal experience.
Visited the Desmond for a potential wedding venue. The hotel is very outdated with wallpaper probably dating back many centuries. The hallways smelt very musty as well. The staff was very pleasant but the overall feel from the hotel itself was mediocre.
Awesome motel, great food Very clean a pleasant place to stay for shore
Up keep was not up to par over priced due do being close to air port. Food was not greatest service was rude. But design of inside is nice.
The food was pretty good but they have the worst mattress ever. I can't believe that the hotel has great reviews with those mattresses.
I went to the Desmond for a wedding and the hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The food was also delicious.
Needs updates. Old plaid couch with unmatched cushions and rips in room.
Old building but very comfortable and good restaurants
Hotel smelled like stale smoke. Never sent email notification and charged us an extra night on both rooms.
Great atmosphere, helpful staff, return every year!
Attended a corporate meeting/event with light food and drinks. Atmosphere is unique, staff was solid and AV was adequate/good.
Over the past five years, I have attended at least half a dozen conferences at The Desmond. Each of those times, the high-level of service stood out to me and I admire how hard the staff works with conference organizers to create such a seamless event. Overall, the venue is laid out similar to a colonial square and courtyards with skylights resemble actual city squares. In this regard, there's always a timeless appeal to the Desmond For some events, they will setup a trade show atmosphere in the courtyard to the point that you might overlook some of the window decorations and other fine touches. At other events, the room will be setup with roundtables for a meal only to have the hardworking crew start to break everything down to accommodate theater-style seating or open space for the next event to occur in that room. For buffets, the attendants will keep the trays of food together. For sit-down meals, I am always impressed with the talent the servers have at seamlessly sliding between the narrowest of passageways between seats. The staff are cheerful and attentive and are also members of the Hotel Trades Council, a fact which many employees proudly announce via lapel pins. You can tell they take pride in their work and their professionalism is why The Desmond is where so many conference organizers choose to hold their events year after year. I was once an overnight guest of the hotel about six or seven years ago while giving a talk at Siena College. I do not remember too much about the room other than the fact the its distance from the lobby made me realize what a large venue it really is. Also, I remember their hot tub got adequately hot and had good bubble pressure. All around, you can't go wrong at the Desmond.
The hotel was nice clean but the mattress was horrible it sagged in the middle. Replace the mattress and all is well.
Great historical character, mansion rooms are nice.
Buffet food was great, except the desserts. The only good dessert was bread pudding. The ambiance was great and very warm on a cold day.
Walls are paper thin. Family of 4 was talking at 6am. Heard coughing at 4 am. So tired! If you need a good night sleep stay away.
Booked a Queen room and I got 2 doubles for my husband and I. The bed sheets were so crisp you wake up everytime you move. Hotel was so noisy all night long I got maybe 2 hours of sleep before an early morning flight. Thought the Desmond would be a whole lot more but it was no better than a Motel 6!
Very nice place. Outdated furnishings. No refrigerator in the rooms.
Much bigger than I anticipated went for a show looking forward to getting a room at some point
Had our family Xmad party here. Excellent tome was had by all. We had a conference room to gather in and they smartly put our rooms all together and next to this room. All rooms could use a bit of updating as the furniture shows some wear but everthing was functionable.
We had a very good dinner everything was very tasty n the service with Jessica was wonderful thank you.
Attended a fundraiser for a political non-profit. Food was good. The parking lot is a bit cramped. I'm glad I drive small car.
The Desmond is a fully professional venue. Its rooms are well serviced and very comfortable, its staff is cheerful, and though its food is lackluster, it has a very relaxing atmosphere.
This is the place were me and my awesome wife got marred these were the good days of my life. Now when the next time I stay there is when it will for a great event in my life it seemed like Dreams come true there
Always a great time when going to the Desmond. The service and food is excellent and charming. Highly recommend going there to grab a quick bite.
Went to pick up my daughter who had the prom there and besides being disorganized, the food was awful, what was told to me by numerous people,
It was amazing! I was there for a professional event through school and I was amazed! The good was amazing and so was the service.
It was clean and staff were polite and professional.
Truly a very special place that I will forever have a special memory in my heart. Pineapples have a new meaning now. Clean, friendly and the architectural design is so special with an opening in the middle that looks like you are taking a stroll in a downtown park with little lights twinkling over head, plants, trees and even a beautiful Koi fish pond. Amazing! Unforgettable.
Awesome hotel, great breakfast. Must try the grilled blueberry muffin
they put on a very nice event, people working there were very professional and pleasant
Beautiful hotel, we got there for my husbands teamster breakfast
It was our first time staying here and we loved it. My daughters came from Maine and Maryland and I came from Plattsburgh,NY. The excellent price was the deciding factor for staying there but the customer service and decor will have us coming back. My 2 year old granddaughter loved the courtyard and koi pond. We loved that she could walk and walk inside. The events happening there looked beautiful and my daughter even mentioned that it might be a good place for her wedding!! What an awesome weekend we had! My only complaint was that the pool was almost warm enough but the air was very cold. The whole pool area needs a little spiffing up. My granddaughter was very excited to swim but it was too cold to stay there long. Other than that, everything was delightful. Highly recommend!
My second stay at this hotel. The hospitality is outstanding. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The conference facilities are excellent as well.
The owners were extremely rude once I told them I also had a service animal as I booked in. They said they don't except pets no exceptions, regardless to the fact that I had a doctors letter in hand. They up right refused me. The lady then stood outside of the window and starred me down as I left, if I had money u would sue there a**
