Brilliant experience, a must for every visitor to deep cove.
We took a 3 hour guided kayak tour. The instructors were knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable. The tour itself was fantastic. We took in a few different parts of deep cove, stopping for a quick break and stretch halfway. The place is just beautiful, and feels like you are in the middle of a tourism commercial. If you like the outdoor lifestyle, make sure you have time to do this. I can't rate it highly enough!
So if you've never been kayaking before I highly recommend taking some courses. This was my first time in a kayak ever. Liam, our instructor, made us feel very comfortable with the equipment. He got us out in no time practicing different tecniques. When it came to learning how to wet exit (self capsizing) and practicing rescue styles i felt safe and it was even fun. I would had given this place 4 stars because i felt that, initially, Liam may have glossed over some material before going out on the water. In the end he approached me during my lunch one on one and we discussed it. This made me feel better about the whole experience. I would absolutely recommend lessons here.
If you don't go in advance, you can't ride anything, or you have to wait a long time. It's not cheap but it's sad that my mom has to ride three times in a row to give her a ride.
Super happy about our private tour here with Nick. We had a family of 9 with mostly young kids. Nick played to the crowd and even structured a few races for the kids. He took us to see seals and allowed us to go at our own pace. Prices were reasonable here and the set up was really quick. Turns out we were actually Nick's first private tour. Thanks for everything Nick!
Also, last summer I had accidentally booked the wrong day for 6 of us to go out for a kayak. We showed up the next day by accident and it was super busy. Deep Cove Kayak Centre rallied every last piece of equipment together so that we could still go out for a paddle. I'm super appreciative of them going above and beyond when something was my own mistake. Thank you. We've been 5 times now and will return!
Jason and tash gave an amazing tour! It was great to have someone so passonite at what they do tour us around giveing us a little history along the way. Thank for a great birthday!!
Friendly staff, fun time on the water. Reservation is highly recommended out you might leave disappointed.
We really enjoyed our experience with Deep Cove Kayak centre! We booked the 5h guided kayak trip which was worth it! We had a small group of 7 people with 2 guides. The view was great! The guides (Tyrany and Seth) were very knowledgeable and helpful throughout our adventure. Equipment was in good condition and the guides made sure everything was in order. Make sure to arrive early enough since finding parking can be tricky enough.
This town is a place of dreams! To be able to kayak in a cove like this was amazing! It s one of my most favorite memories, the haze of trees, the water... picture perfect... To top it off, we even saw a seal (see photos)! This is a must-do if you are in the area!!!
great place for tourism and locals to enjoy Vancouver
We had Spencer and Vanessa teach us and take us out on the water. It was great, even if you aren't great at it like myself it's very enjoyable.
Amazing place, i love it. As a recommendation book your kayak a day before in order you can do it the day of your visit!! there are some trails for hiking. Definitely I love it!!!
Awesome selection of kayaks..spectacular scenery...easy access to getting on the water..lots of history down Indian Arm..very friendly and knowlegable staff..a MUST Go to place for anyone that likes kayaking / boarding..as well make aure you go to Orso Coffee shop up the street when you finish ..awesome deserts and java...Cause LIFE is a Balance ! Kayak=FUN.Sun and Exercise Orso =Reward for sane..love the Risk/ Reward on that one......
Friendly staff, great service. Prices went up a bit, which is understandable, considering COVID-19 measures.
Excellent place not to be missed if you go on vacation to Vancouver. From main st. You arrive with just a truck. It is a super beautiful bay where you can relax and take a walk or rent a Kayak if you like that sport. Wear your swimsuit in summer if you don't mind cold water you can go swimming and there is a place that sells excellent donuts !! It's called honey
Excellent service! Equipment is in great conditions, staff was helpful and knowledgeable.
Friendly and helpful staff set you off on an easy kayak adventure right in North Van
Equipment and staff have gone downhill. Small plastic short boats from unknown brands, cheap life jackets, partial spray skirts. Prices have gone up significantly to cater to tourists. I wish there was some better options for more experienced kayakers from this launching point that prefer better equipment at a place that has become seemingly all about profit.
Went on the deep cove exploration. Guide was extremely helpful and nice. Great place to go on a nice day.
First time kayaking and it was wonderful! Friendly staff and quality equipment. We went at 9am on a Monday and it was very easy and fast to get a rental.
Took the Level 1 Paddle Canada course here. Fantastic experience having never paddled a kayak before. Jason B was a brilliant guide, paced the course well and tailored it to what the group wanted to get out of the weekend. He was attentive to our nerves and any difficulties. We all completed the course successfully. Really knowledgeable not just about kayaking but the local area, its history and the local nature. I would highly recommend Deep Cove Kayak to anyone looking to learn new paddling skills in safety and in beautiful surroundings.
Awesome adventure. My kids and wife enjoyed it, staff very friendly and helpful. The back drop scenery is beautiful, like in the movies. Fabulous place and only 35 minutes from downtown Vancouver.
I took a 3 hour guided tour of Deep Cove, it was a fantastic experience!
The staff was very helpful, the kayak I had was in fantastic shape. Our guide was friendly and professional, and the pace was very relaxing. If you're unsure if you're going to like kayaking I suggest this tour.
I would highly suggest coming here, just reserve your spot a week or so in advance - it's very busy around Deep Cove when it's nice out. Get there early, parking is hard for everyone.
Nice place, will go again. But parking is really hard and the patrollers are eager to issue parking ticket even though you just get off your car to check the signs. Crazy patrollers, make people thinking that all patrollers in Vancouver are on commission basis, especially those private parking companies. Government should regulate these companies and stop their craziness of issuing ticket and grasping money.
Wow, fantastic time at Deep Cove. We rented a double kayak and let me tell you, the service was immaculate. The local wildlife while kayaking was plentiful in the crystal clear water. Be prepared to encounter some seal pups along the way. Our seal pups were friendly, don't know about others' experiences.
Amazing experience! The staff was friendly and the equipment was good quality. Will definitely come back.
Ended up just buying an inflatable boat from amazon
Professional and well organized service. Highly recommend this location for kayaking and paddle boarding.
I like it, the staff are helpful , you can book online so you can plan your trip at deep cove village, un generall its very good but not reach to Exellent yet.
Nice place with nice view, we came to rent kayak, they dont have because many people already rented but still its nice place to explore the area and travel all over the beach.
A nice place and the guides quite nice and polite. The only bad thing were the prices, a bit expensive.
Good selection of equipment and well run operation.
Amazing experience. Great informative staff and super seamless time to get into the water and paddling. Only downside is the high prices, understandable for a touristy spot but still seemed steep. Nevertheless I will be returning for a longer paddle in the future.
Great location for Kayak. Beautiful. But parking is a nightmare...
We ve been here twice and employees are always patient, professional and helpful. It s a bit more pricy than other kayaking place around Vancouver but the view is definitely worth it.
I had a wonderful time today. Toby was a great guide. He was very knowledgeable and professional. It rained a little bit, but we powered through and still had a good time. Thank you!
Very friendly and helpful staff, good equipment and good suggestions to match the length of your rental. Beautiful location for kayaking.
My fiance and I took a "Deep Cove Explorer" tour with Deep Cove Kayak on Saturday October 3, 2020. We had Spencer as our guide. The overall experience was fantastic. Spencer was a phenomenal guide - very patient, a great teacher, interesting to talk to and generally made sure we all had a great time. Would definitely go again!
Great staff. Knowledgeable and very helpful. Great attitude throughout at both the store and at the kayak rental location. Rentals are fast and easy. We also took kayak level 1 lessons. Very professional and fun.
Always a good place to go kayaking in the summer. Great view!
Location is great and equipment was high quality. Couldn't ask for more.
Decent service, prices are a bit steep. Kayak availability tends to be lower than demand, so booking ahead a day or two is recommended.
Really fun activities and perfect for kayaking. All the equipment is great and the tutorials are clear and easy to follow. It's very busy and the parking is an absolute nightmare but definitely worth the hassle.
Excellent staff, friendly & helpful. Deepcove/Indian Arm are such a great place to feel away from the city. Go on a weekday day or evening for a more relaxed outing (weekends are good but busy).
Great place to start your kayak or SUP adventures. They offer variety of good programs and also kayak and SUP rentals including all the related and required stuff. Staff are great and happy to help. I personally took kayaking courses with them and could not ask for more. Totally recommend.
Also good area to bring your kayak or SUP for a day of paddling but parking is the major pain as so many people come to visit this beautiful area.
Came here with my friends last summer to do the Stand-up Paddle Board. It was our first time doing it and we really did enjoy the experience. Only thing you have to watch out for is the boats that sail by because it will cause massive waves that may back you fall. I recommend going on your knees in these situations.
Booking was complicated as we left to Friday for a group of seven. But after booking sorted out, the experience was fantastic. We had two instructors/guides who were knowledgeable and fun. Kids had a great time. We will be back for sure!
Highly recommended to anyone, located at one of North Shores hidden gems
Beautiful place to kayak. Staff didn't seem overly knowledgeable though
Fantastic experience! Great staff, very helpful for all levels of skill. My first kayak trip and i stayed dry!!
Make reservations if you are going on the weekend! I found that the kayaks that they had were not as comfortable as others I have used. They did not take the time to make sure the foot pegs were positioned properly for me so it was a bit uncomfortable as they were too short. It is more expensive than other locations but it is worth it for the scenery.
The staff were nice and very helpful. The location is absolutely beautiful. My family had a wonderful time kayaking here.
Our tour guide Josh was so nice and was able to provide a lot of information about the area. The views a stunning and one of a kind. We did the 3-hr tour and I wish it was longer! Just a note, while there is a bathroom area, change before you get there as it's a pretty public and highly used restroom.
Our family had an awesome experience last week--did the 3 hr guided tour, Seth was our guide and was great with our crew & kiddos. Would highly recommend Deep Cove for your kayaking/paddleboard needs!!!
Friendly staff and fun kayaking experience. They gave us a refund 30mins in because it is too windy today, better safe than sorry I guess.
The first lady we dealt with at the counter was impatient, unhelpful, and clearly flustered with how busy it was. Just seemed annoyed and rude, and uncommunicative. It was our first visit, and we had no idea what the procedure was, or what the bookings would look like.
Thankfully after signing the waivers on the iPads, a different lady finished up our transaction (not at our request or anything) and was chill and helpful. Once we got settled in by the very helpful shore staff and set out on the water, it was a great time, and a great day for kayaking. No complaints there.
My recommendation would be to station a host that directs people where to go, what to do, what options are available, and what the current bookings look like. This would save a lot of time and maybe lower the stress of the front desk staff.
This is my favorite place to rent kayaks from! Friendly staff, and gorgeous surroundings! We always see sealife when we come here and it's such a fun experience! Last time we saw a bunch of friendly, adorable seals right up close sunning themselves! Will be back again and again!
Very competent staff made an old rubbish paddle board novice feel very welcome!
a small nice village by the coast completely full of white people haha... due to covid have to book a kayak in advance bc they can only rent out a small portion but otherwise very fun nice scenery and lots of open water to explore. I'd go back for sure.
Nice service and staff.
l took level 1 and level 2 kayaking courses with Mike and Kevin, it was awesome and I've learned a lot of things and our class was so much fun.
Also I've rented a single kayak, the kayak wasn't working quite well as I expected.
The place is very beautiful, the boats experience is nicer and a place worth repeating the visit as the service was excellent. We thank the staff for their good treatment and manners.
Great view! I would highly recommend people to go kayaking there. The staff are so nice and it was totally a great experience.
My wife and I enjoyed a great tour with Deep Cove Kayak. Ophir was a fantastic guide and had lots of great info and stories about the history of the surrounding area, sea creatures, and advice on what paddling adventures to take on next. We look forward to getting back on the water soon. Thanks!
Took a Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) lesson for my first time SUP. Mike was a great instructor! He was very friendly and taught me basic knowledges for SUP including safety and a lot of techniques for paddling.
Although it was a lesson, I was able to have much time like one and a half hours to enjoy paddling around.
SUP is not hard to start on your own and you may think you don't need a lesson. However, considering the board rental price ($39 for 2 hours) vs the lesson price ($60 for 2 hours) and what I learned, I think their SUP lesson is definitely worth for those who just start SUP like me. It saves a lot of your time to learn how to paddle properly.
my experience is awesome! thanks to their staff who is very friendly and informative. me and my wife went there (june 2020) and we had a blast (except for the weather) we pick a rainy day to go kayaking =) so better check the weather before booking one. but the staff guide us and told us a smooth route to kayak during rainy day. the water is pleasant and calm. we saw sea lion water is dark though because of the rain. the equipment is well maintained and in top condition. overall one of the best to do in vancouver bc. to all staff thank you so much.
Go here, it's breathtakingly beautiful. Never actually got to kayak which was disappointing, it was closed. But it wasn't all that disappointing because the view was spectacular!
The place is so beautiful. The bay is picturesque. The town so quaint.
But all these are shattered when you know the rental and orientation prices the kayak centre is asking from its customers.
You look at the prices in their brochures and frankly, you can buy a canoe, second hand perhaps, after doing any of their beginner's course.
If the place is actually interested in promoting kayak, canoe or paddle boarding, they should at least offer a reasonable price.
Else, you get drowned by the high prices before you can ride in any of their canoe or kayak.
Its just so expensive.
