Dean has not picked up my kids THREE times this school year alone (2019-2020)! And when I call Dean to see where my kids' bus is, twice they didn't even know they didn't have the route out until I called and the third time was because Dean mismarked on their calendar for a no school, when my child in fact had school! Dean is garbage. Over the last couple years of using Dean, the quality control has gone completely out the window. I can't even get a manager or anyone to return my phone calls. But I should trust you to transport my special needs children to and from school, and you can't even manage to show up consistently, never around the same time (which is pathetic when your house is the FIRST pick-up of the morning), and you can't return a phone call to a very concerned parent?

We used Dean for our trip from Potterville to Orlando, FL between March 31-April 6, 2016. We had the "luxury" or "premiere" coaches. To start with, the wifi got capped within a matter of a couple of hours. That was great with a bus full of high school kids using their phones and tablets. The trip down wasn't too bad due to us having several stops and being able to stretch. The seats don't recline very much and the seats are beyond uncomfortable for sleeping. The way back was even worse due to the drivers wanting to drive straight through and not making long stops. We got back two hours earlier than anticipated but overall we all we cramped and cranky due to not having enough time to stretch out.

Overall, they need to be more sensitive to their passengers needs. This trip left a sour taste in my mouth for this company overall.

The people who answer the phone most times are super rude. A few of the drivers are extremely rude always late and very unprofessional if I lived closer my children would NEVER ride their buses. Not mention if they hit something some of them keep going very fed up with them..

Landen drives my daughter's preschool bus. Every morning he greets us with the biggest smile and is excited to see my child. There is something about him, that makes us as all so comfortable. He take safety seriously and always gives me daily updates on my child. I cannot say enough nice things about him. His compassion shines through every single day. We love and appreciate Landen and we can tell he appreciates us too. I've been so happy with the services and care he provides to my 4 year old.

Whenever I call, there is always a high call volume. No one everything answers or calls back. One time I was left on hold for a very long time, hung up and called right back, went to VM and no one calls back. They deserve ZERO stars.

Dean transportation is very unprofessional and rude. I had to call them a couple of times because my kids bus was not picking them up at the time they originally stated on a letter received at the beginning of the school year. Bus driver's kept changing the pick up times and when my kids were there at those times, they'd never show up and they also change pick up location so that some students didn't have to walk far and stand in the cold, but never showed up. When dean transportation was contacted about the matter, they had the nerve to hang up on me twice because they felt other matters were more important.

I use Dean Transportation car service on occasion for my travels and trips to the airports. The service has been top notch and communication with staff has been excellent. They put the customer first in my opinion. I highly recommend this company.

I wanted to warn any new employees that are lookin...

I wanted to warn any new employees that are looking to work at Dean Transportation for the IT department.
Please read all the info below before considering a position with Dean Transportation.

The Good:
- Newer equipment
- The users are very nice and pleasant to work with.
- Building in Lansing is not bad. Could use more windows.

The Bad:
The IT Department consists of 3 individuals. An IT analyst, a PC Technician and an IT director. Small IT Team.

- IT Director: Works remotely and is in the process of retirement. The director worked for BWL for 30+ years and brought his poison from BWL to dean. The director is very poisonous and short tempered. It s his way or the high way even though his way could be wrong. He watches the emails to the IT department and chimes in and makes small things more difficult than they have to be.
- IT Analyst: This is the IT Director's minion. The IT analyst will act normal then shut down when he has to deal with the director. Very rude to users and has a "Closed Door" policy after 2 weeks. Gets annoyed if he has to do any work. Bad attitude and poisonous like the director. Would rather sit in his dark little office all day with the radio on with no interruptions.

These 2 clowns (If your Hired) will sabotage things and test and micro-manage you to see if you can fix issues. Some issues won t be fixable as they will give you limited to no access to servers so you are setup for failure.
Then you have the PC Technician.. The current PC technician is new to IT and I took this guy in on the first day to help and mentor him. Little did I know, the PC Technician is notating everything you do and say to run with any info to the IT analyst and\or Director. It was my mistake to voice my opinion to the PC technician of the micro-management which was twisted and lead to one of the reasons of my contract cancellation. So you cannot trust anyone here at Dean. This is what you get for doing a good job, working through unpaid lunch, getting to work on time and being a professional engineer.
As far as the micromanagement, you will have a DAILY REPORT and will have your time micro managed every day. They will question why it took so long on things that THEY made impossible to complete in a timely manner. You will need to CC everything to the director and analyst so that they can chime in to feel more powerful and controlling.

I worked here for a short time and had my contract canceled because the IT analyst felt his job was threatened by me. They will let you go for no reason and "Ghost" you after. Very unprofessional. You have been warned!

Horrible!! The ppl in the office, allow the bus drivers to work without working communication devices, so they aren't capable of contacting drivers in emergency situations!!! I don't feel my grandchildren are safe riding Dean Transportation buses. Update response...NO!!! THAT IS NOT TRUE!!! I personally experienced staff not being able to communicate with my grandchild's bus driver because the radio wasn't working!!! Nice try though...ask almost anyone who has experience with Dean Transportation...most experiences ARE NEGATIVE!!!

Well I have dealt with Battle creek public school ...

Well I have dealt with Battle creek public school Dean transportation for many years and have had a lot of issues! Today just took the cake. First off Mrs. Mary on bus 151 refused my daughter to get on the bus this morning saying she was suspended, so I go to the bus garage and verify that SHE WAS NOT suspended. Then this morning she accuses my son of throwing food on the bus, which my son didn't take any food with him when he left and his older sister said he didn't even do anything on the bus but play on his phone and that the driver lied. So after school she continues to harass my son, yelling at him saying he won't be on the bus tomorrow and still yelling at him as she closed the door after he got off the bus. I also heard from several kids that she tells the kids she will park the bus and run them over with it and put her fist down their throats when they are in trouble for whatever reason. SO.... I go up to the bus garage and explain this to the supervisor/manager whoever he is and this man don't even invite me in to fix this situation or discuss it, he literally made us stand outside telling this business in front of other people. Please, if you got kids who ride this bus please have a talk with them about their bus driver and what happens on the bus. Even if their being bullied and they are reporting it to the driver but nothing is getting done because we deal with that too a lot. She CAN'T be talking to put kids like that period, she just lucky she didn't say that to my kids is all I can say! But, that supervisor said he will talk to Mrs. Mary, lol what a joke. But I'm taking it further, Dean transportation in battle creek needs to be closed down and their contact ended. They only have a handful of good drivers, the bad ones outweigh the good for sure. But this is a company who transports our kids, who were suppose to trust! Not me!

My kids are late to school everyday. They tell the kids to be out there at a certain, and then have them standing outside in the cold for 30 to 40 minutes. Sometimes they call the parents, sometimes they don't! My daughter has a phone and calls me everyday saying her bus didnt come.Sometimes I have to take them myself. Not reliable at all!

The people here are soooo kind!!! I really recommend anyone, if you are in need to transport to come to Dean Transportation and seek help from them. They are very trustworthy and will make sure everyone gets where they need to go, safely.

I couldn't count the times last year that my son was over 30 min late getting home without a phone call. This year I had to bring him to school for the first 2 weeks because his bus wasn't picking him up. She was coming early without waiting. It's impossible to get someone on the phone after 3pm to find out where your children are. One time I called the police station because I thought something had happened to my child he was so late getting home. I have given up. We commute now. I wish the transportation for our kids hadn't been outsourced to a private company with no public accountability.

My daughter school bus never showed up this morning (9/5/2019)and then the driver called the bus garage and said he showed up. I've been waiting at the bus stop since 8 with other parents. My daughter's school starts at 840 she didn't get picked up until after 9. She only got picked up because the bus garage called and ask him to turn around. This type of behavior is ridiculous. If I could I'd be putting a formal complaint in on this bus driver. I know traffic can be bad but calling the garage and lying saying that you showed up to pick up my child and you never showed up should be an automatic termination!

I feel they deserve less than a 1. My nephew has to ride this bus and they can't seem to get his address changed. Told us it would take a week and this is the end of the 3rd week. You would think they'd be more responsible with children. Misplaced my nephew, and waited until afternoon to call us and let us know we would have to pick him up from school. Courtesy would have been a phone call at 8 am not 12. They reallt need to become a competent business or higher more competent people. Takes 3 weeks to change an address so far? SMH.

I'd give ZERO stars if I could! My kids bus is late almost every day and I don't get the calls until AFTER the pick up time which means my kids stand out in the cold waiting THEEENN when they come in to warm up the bus will drive right past them if they're not standing exactly at the stop! AND when I call the lady laughs while telling me "I guess your kids are gonna have to miss school today" like it's funny that my kids are missing out on their education! Theyre ALL so unprofessional!!!

The "professional" drivers of Dean Transportation ...

The "professional" drivers of Dean Transportation make it their daily goal to speed down residential streets, to blow thru intersections well after the light has turned red, and delight in blocking traffic.

Today, was the icing on the cake in regards to the "Professional" Drivers of Dean Transportation. I was trying to drive thru an intersection where we both had the green greet except the bus driver turned in front of me and blocked the intersection for both lanes of traffic so they could "make the light" and not have to wait for the light to cycle back to our turn again.

This bus driver put every single child that was onboard the bus at grave risk to their life and limb while the bus blocked the intersection. Luckily, no one plowed into them who may not have been paying attention.

I've seen this time and time again where Dean Transportation's professional drivers blow thru red lights and put every single child riding the bus at risk and endangering the very lives entrusted to them by parents of Greater Grand Rapids, MI.

I've placed calls as a concerned citizen more than on one occasion and have only got voice mails. I've took the time a number of times to leave specific details on my observations along with my contact number only to never get a call back from their management. It's obvious that the management of Dean Transportation does not care about what their drivers are doing around town.

It's unfortunate that they will only begin to care when it's too late and a child is harmed and/or maimed by the very hands that should be protecting our young and defenseless children.

NOT impressed, called on a quote (price checking) ...

NOT impressed, called on a quote (price checking) for their black car service, the lady that answered said the rates varied, I then inquired what the minimum was she sounded like I caught her off guard and she had to put me hold just to find what the minimum rate was. While I'm sure it's legit, it just sounded sketchy with an employee not knowing your basic rates for black car service. Was told $50 hrly with 6 hr min. Thanks for your time and I'm sure a great company, but will check elsewhere.

As far as the school bus... They are terrible my child has autism and yet his bus stop is 13 minutes from home. They said they would fix it but made it 10 minutes from home. 3 weeks of complaining and they still have not fixed it. This make me want to leave this county. Poor excuse for transportation service

By far the worst transportation system for the kid...

By far the worst transportation system for the kids!!! They are over 20 mins late every other day and refuse to inform parents as to their tardiness. The receptionist are rude and offer nothing but excuses. For the last two days the butterfly bus has been over 30 mins late. They dont call ive been late for work and late getting my other children to school simply bc of Dean Transportation cant get their employees to come to work on time.

20 minutes late getting the kids today. Called and got put on hold for 10 minutes, then I hung up. Walled lake schools made a big mistake with this company. Consistently late, disorganized and you never know who's going to be driving the bus. Me and the other parents sometimes sit around and swap horror stories about them. Like the time the bus broke down for two hours and they wouldn't release the kids..or all the times the bus never came, came late or was driven by total weirdos. Or all the times the bus hit other cars and kept going, got stuck or had mechanical issues. Pay better wages! Then maybe you wouldn't have to put up signs on every square inch of Oakland county begging for help and maybe the kids would actually get to school on time everyday!

Great if you like the bus to forget about your child or show up a half hour late regularly. They are just awful. Today they forgot my autistic son was on the bus! He got off the bus 2 hours after his scheduled drop time. Then blamed my son for not speaking up. Again he has autism and they blamed him openly for not speaking up. Don't even know how to respond

EVERY Wednesday they show up an hour or more late to pick my son up. They have forgotten to bring a star seat twice now, which his IEP states that he needs one. When I brought it up to the driver she laughed and when I called regarding this I was given the excuse that the sheet of paper the driver receives in the morning just has his name and address not his needs. Not at all impressed with this place. I wish we had the option to drive him myself but his school is 45 minutes away. If you can avoid using Dean... do!!!!
