Unique fish sandwich with their own tartar sauce was most delicious. The "vibe" is great. Beautiful old building updated with tasteful carpentry.

Great food. Sometimes the servers are not that great.
Excellent breakfast spot. Nice assortment of egg dishes and pancakes. Highly recommended.
I was impressed with the atmosphere. On the day I went the place was a bit busy and chaotic. The line was out the door and no one to greet you or let you know how long the wait was going to be. I didn't have any place else to be, so I didn't mind the wait. The food was good, the waitress was attentive. I will probably eat there again and would certainly recommend my friends to go there is they are ever in the St Paul area.
My son really liked his breakfast burrito. My scrabbled eggs were just eggs, my toast was burnt, and the coffee was not good at all. The service was wonderful though and it's a fun environment.
Pancakes with granola were delicious with real maple syrup. Loved the old feel and a variety of art.
Awesome food, great atmosphere, and outstanding coffee. You can't go wrong. Try the outside dining in the summer, it's wonderful.
Went to Day By Day for Sunday brunch after my wedding. We called about a week or two in advance, and we were able to reserve a private room that accommodated a large group (the room looked like it could seat about 40). Good service, tasty food, and a nice laid back atmosphere. We loved it!
The food was tasty and the restaurant has a quirky vibe.
Excellent food and a fantastic breakfast menu. Loved it!
Funky ambiance, great service and excellent food. Good value for the dollar.
Cute Cafe with quick service, strong coffee, and delicious food. I highly recommend the fruit over any other side as it was fresh and not a melon in sight!
Always good. Always great service. I had the ham, apple and brie sandwich - very good.
This place has a very unique and quaint feel. It has a very nice little outdoor area out back which was a perfect place on a nice weather day. We had breakfast on our visit and it was average but good average I'd say. I would definitely return if I was in the area again. We are glad we tried it.
Pancakes are rock solid. Can not think of a bad experience. Yes, it is not the Taj Mahal. But its clean, great vibe with hot coffee and good food.
Yummy food and a nice patio. I loved the biscuits and gravy.
Wonderful, cute cafe with a super menu. Nice relaxed atmosphere.
We go the Day by Day Cafe every time we visit the Twin Cities. The location is great with antique and specialty shops nearby. The food is very good, the service friendly and attentive, and the prices reasonable.
Incredible food, good coffee, great staff, cozy ambience. Been coming here for decades, best breakfast in St. Paul.
Great food and server. Had the eggs hollandaise. The has crowns weren't as crispy brown as I like them but that just kept me from eating them all which I didn't need to do anyway!
I use to like the day by day but the last couple times has been bad food and service. I use to go here all the time for breakfast. The last time. slow service rude waitress. Then did not bring me the right order and when I sent it back she said that is what I ordered. I had to laugh and say to her I think not as I hate eggs benedict and would never order it. She then said what do you want very rudely. I said my check for the coffee. coffee was 2.29 I dropped 2 dollars on the table and walked out. I WON'T BE BACK !
This place has the best outdoor patio I've experienced. Food was great and so was the service. Simple food done well. Definitely a great place to grab a bite when the weather is nice. The indoor seating looks cozy as well.
Good service. Good food. Large space. Plenty of seating. Patio was really cool. Quick service.
Good food. Wait staff a little slow!!! But will be back!!
Hearty breakfast and never ending drip coffee. Saturday breakfast can be had everyday at the Day by Day Cafe.
This place is classic. It has had it's ups and downs but I really believe it's on an up now
Great breakfast, although simple, of coffee, eggs and buckwheat cakes with pecans and blueberries.
I was in search of an all day breakfast spot. This place was just what I was looking for. Serve until 3pm
Delicious food. A great brunch spot.
Also, John Cena was playing on the speakers, and one of the waiters was humming along. Made my day.
French toast is a favorite - ask for it well done or it may be a bit soggy
I was very impressed with quickly we were sat. Good portions. Foods not as good as your mom's cooking but just as good as grandmas.
I enjoyed this place! I love the charm and personality of this place. Cute outdoor patio. Great food and customer service.
Very good restaurant with great breakfasts! The breakfast burrito is the best! All around neighborhood, friendly place to be.
Great food, amazing service, and a amazing place to eat
Good food. Even better service. Nice cozy atmosphere.Parking okay on off hours.
Always enjoy going here for breakfast. Especially like going in the summer to eat outside by their pond. Friendly staff and great food!
This cafe is very cute! The workers are kind and speedy. Aesthetic is comforting; no harsh lighting and is generally clean. There is outdoor seating too, which I recommend. The area outside is very cute and has a fish pond. There are books you can read all along the shelf inside. The food selection is great.
Fun fact: Day by Day cafe hires people recovering from substance/drug abuse! The owner had seen how hard it was to get a job while he, himself, was struggling with drug recovery. This job has helped a lot of people.
All time favorite when in St. Paul. Comfortable, good food and friendly staff.
Good food, great patio, and reasonable prices. Dog friendly.
Nice outside area, good location, simple but good food, and nice waitstaff. Classic little breakfast place and the fastest I have ever gotten a plate of eggs in my life.
If you're looking for comfort food at reasonable prices, this is your spot. I absolutely love the patio when the weather is decent. The water sounds are soothing and the trees and plants provide not only shade but visual stimulation. Service is good, wait staff aren't annoying and provide good service. This place is a favorite!
Good selection, austere decor. Good if you're interested in the food more than the atmosphere. Good for spending time with your dining mates
Great place to eat unless you're on a budget. Breakfast for 3 should not cost over 50 bucks in a cafe like this. That said, the food is great
It was pretty nosey. Great wait staff. Got food quickly. Price$$$.
Have been coming here since it opened long ago and never had anything other than a fantastic meal. Took my mother here on Sunday and she said it was the best French toast she ever had, and she's 94 and eaten ALOT of French toast.
great accommodating staff and the best buckwheat pancake you will ever eat!!
Good value, good food. Our waitress seemed like she was doing us a favor. I almost felt guilty.
Delicious food in an adorable atmosphere. Try eating out on the patio for a relaxing twist.
Good range of menu options, good service. Fair prices, fair portions.
Love this place. Good food in a comfortable setting. Backyard outdoor patio is great in the summer.
This was a welcoming, bustling little cafe. The staff was friendly and they seem to attract the same in their guests. My children and I are excited to go back to try lunch as breakfast was great even with a vegetarian meat substitute available.
Great food, service & quaint outdoor patio in back - complete with Koi pond.
Good hearty breakfast food, service is sometimes hit or miss. The patio is wonderful in 3 of the 4 seasons....
If you re looking for a unique setting to eat your breakfast, this is the place! The food is very average, some days it s better than others, but the interior makes it worth a trip or two.
There was not anywhere to park, the foodand service is good, they have mostly just havr booths, but do have some counter seating. Its a pretty inviting atmosphere, the decor is that of your eccentric antique loving auntie. (Everything's interesting but oddly matched/situated)
Great breakfast stop, clean place with eclectic atmosphere and friendly staff. We ordered the tofu veggie scramble with whole grain toast and the buckwheat pancakes. Everything was fresh and made from scratch! The menu seemed to offer something for everyone.
Great cozy place for breakfast and the service is always top notch!
Great service, good food, Dunn Bros. coffee in a funky, laid-back atmosphere. Can't wait to enjoy the back patio on a warmer day.
"I feel like I don't need to go back" is a good way to sum up the experience. My partner and I ordered the chicken burrito, the walleye sandwich, and a cup of coffee. None of which were particularly impressive for the price point. The walleye sandwich was ok flavorwise. It looked like it had been over fried or fried in old oil. Either way not a good look. The burrito was bland, nothing about it stood out in a way that I would expect from a restaurant. You're friend's mom probably made the same thing in high school. Overall, middling experience and wouldn't recommend over other options in the area.
Cute, unique and cozy. Good food, great coffee and service.
Outstanding food, service and setting. Try the patio before winter you'll love it too.
