What a place for breakfast and lunch. Without a doubt one of the best breakfast spots in the cities. When the patio is open with terraced fish ponds, it is outstanding! They have a great room in the back with wonderful windows facing the terrace if room is not available outside.

I HAVE to take more photos the next HUNDRED times that I return!!! The artwork on the walls (not only CRAZZZY-intricate details EVERYWHERE painted on the walls themselves) but there's artwork for sale for which I clearly have an affinity/type/genre, lol!
Food= FANTASTIC! And I'm servers' worst nightmare (despite the fact that I WAS one for years )
Service= Impeccable!
Ambiance.....I'm sorry, was I vague earlier??

We went in hopes, in search of eggs benedict and because there was a koi pond listed in the description.

There are no koi in the pond that we could see.

The outside patio is nice, quaint, relaxing. It's set up shabby chic with cheap patio furniture and interesting artsy decor.

The caramel roll is great!

The rest of breakfast, including the coffee and the cinnamon rolls and THE EGGS BENEDICT left a lot to be desired. The price point for these things is painful and truthfully, we've gotten better at chain breakfast places.

I guess it wasn't in the taste of me or my family. We tried it out because it ranks high on review sites and there's supposed to be a koi pond. There's a pond...

Day by Day is a great classic American breakfast diner. The food is always great and the staff is really nice. The dining room is just loud enough to feel private but not so loud you can't carry a conversation. They always seem a bit understaffed so service wasn't very fast but they are always very nice.

Nice vibe but food was a little disappointing and service is a little slow. This was my second time here and it always seems busy. The interior is cozy and interesting. I ordered hashbrowns and eggs Benedict. The potato wasn't as crispy on the inside as I would like. One bite had a slight floury taste and presume it was coming from the hashbrowns. The eggs Benedict was overcooked and not the nice delicate poached egg with runny insides it should be. The hollandaise was tasteless and slathered over it all looking like a lump of melted cheese. The ham was nice though! Coffee was also pretty good. Overall it was just ok, but the previous time it was much better!

Definitely a unique spot. Really enjoyed sitting in the patio area, by the small pond and watching the goldfish. Also saw a garden snake! (Fine by me, not harmful) The food had very nice sized portions and taste very fresh. Very pleased with my experience. I've noted this as a place to bring out of town friends and family.
My order: croissant tuna (with sprouts, tomato, lettuce and I added advocate) with fresh fruit.
Friends order: Three layer club sandwich with garlic fries (very good!!)

I told my friends about this place with my highest recommendations. I visit this restaurant often. This recommendation is always successful. The meals are appetizing and the stuff is welcoming and cooperative. always when we go to this place we pass a pleasing evening. highly recommended.

This is one of those places where I really intend to try something different on the menu. But when I come in for breakfast I can t pass up the steel cut oats. My friends and family tell me the rest of the food is delicious, too, but I can t get past how amazing the oats and wild rice is for breakfast.

The place was filthy and dusty. The older lady with pens stuck in her hair slapped the menus on our table and walked away. The filth of the place was a real turn off. I'm sure the kitchen is just as gross. Not worth it.

A nice little dinner serving great scratch meals. The decor is cozy focusing on wood notes and homey touches. The corned beef and hash was the best I've had consisting of chopped corned beef and fresh hash browns, definitely not from a can unlike most places. The cheese hash browns were also on point, and the side of fruit was generous. The tea selection sucked though and the staff could have been a little more attentive.

The pancakes, sausage, and bacon were good, the eggs tasted plasticity, and had a cold rubbery texture, they tasted like fake egg. The croissant had no flavor, and was dense and chewy. The service was also very bad, our server was rude and passive aggressive. It definitely filled me up but I will never be back.

Day By Day has the best classic breakfast fare in the Twin Cities. The French toast is the best I've ever had, hands down. Just the right amount of crisp and fluff, with a side of whipped butter--perfection! The hash browns with cheese and onions are also outstanding.

Breakfast here is always good. I have dined here many times, they gave early bird specials for the early riser. I usually don't make it that early. I have had their pancakes and french toast and they are very good. The service is also prompt and friendly.

I love this resturaunt, but it's not in my neighborhood so I don't get there often enough. We had an appointment around there yesterday, and were able to stop in.
We split blueberry pecan pancakes that were as good as any we have ever had, also split an egg scramble with cheese and bacon that was great. It came w toast and crispy hash browns. (You can understand why we split.)
People are friendly, they serve breakfast specials all day, (there is also an early bird breakfast special for cheap - but I don't get up that early), nothing not to love.
They are open 7:30-3, so they also have lunch and those are also great if that's what you want.

One of our favorites for breakfast food in Saint Paul. A "hidden gem" some might say. The back patio is serene, the good is great (for a low cost), and the ideology of the place is respectable (sobriety is key!). Love it!

Our server was on her phone the entire time and was loudly tell everyone her boyfriend drama.

Been coming here for breakfast for years..it's a favorite old standby. The back patio is a great little outdoor hideaway, especially for these days where you need a bit more space, but even better now because the owner put in a wood stove for pizza! I was skeptical, because we've spent a ton of time in Italy...but the person they brought in to do the pizza knows what he's doing. Was super yummy and everything I hoped for! (I got the Gena) We will be back...this wknd probably!
