A casual restaurant with a small view of the Pacific.
Service was great, very attentive even though they were busy. Food was a bit expensive.
This light very flavorful Salmon Platter was just right for brunch time. Salmon, greens, capers, bagel and cream cheese. Also a Spicy Bloody Mary. Nice way to start the day.
It's just not what it used to be. Lackluster service. Watch out for the extra service charge on your bill.
Food was okay, but service was horrible! Had to go seek out the server multiple times and everything was very delayed
Good food and awesome water views from patio deck. Service can be slow, so not a great place to be if you're in a hurry.
1 hour to get food. Checked on exactly 2x in that hour. Party came in 20 mins after we did and got their food same time as we did. Food was cold....not tepid, cold. Never going back. And this was social distancing not full restaurant. Stay away.
The Roadhouse is my go-to place for breakfast or a smack every time I am out on my motorcycle on the Highway-1 and it has never disappointed. I am a photography enthusiast and this place, with its wall hangings of popular photography spots around Davenport always gives me a new idea about places to explore. And needless to say, the food and coffee that I have is always one of the best.
Food was quite good. Pricing was a bit much. Service was pretty good. Nice atmosphere. I paid extra for truffle fries and quite frankly didn't see what the big deal was. I should have stuck with regular old fries.
Bathrooms are clean... I came here for a Bloody Mary and asked for bacon inside but I was told they couldn't do that; I could get it on the side. It was weak. I asked for a chocolate eclair but was told she didn't think they had them (I had just seen them). The bill was brought to us and then taken away because she forgot to add something to it....not the best dining experience
burnt appetizer, beer tasted stale..never going back
Service was /okay/ and the food was passable, but we'd really hoped for more. I'd have been happier at a fast food place - and it would have been cheaper.
Stop in Davenport for the view, but don't go to this place for food. Or service.
It was pretty packed so we had to park across the busy Hwy/street. One of our meals was the sweet potato pizza and the other meal was the steak and vegi. Both had good flavors rating at 3 or 4 stars each. The gravy's flavor on the steak was a little bit off and the sweet potato pizza needed one more element because it kind of sat on one note and was a bit greasy. Lots of displayed desserts to choose from. Friendly and helpful staff.
Great breakfast we had during our road trip in a convertible on California one from half Moon Bay till Pismo Beach (there was a detour in California one at that time though). Classy place
The restaurant had slow, untrained wait staff. Dining room had several flies (bugs!). We got our food before any drinks came out. Hot chocolate was cold and flavorless. Asked for it to be warmed up, it came back boiling. Other tables were there before us and waited longer for food. We like to come here after the Run By The Sea race at Wilder Ranch, they seemed unprepared, unaware of events in the area. Sad to say, we'll go elsewhere next year :(
It was superb. The food. The atmosphere. The waitress. Excellent.
I didn't actually eat here, but stayed in the hotel upstairs...very nice rooms!
Friendly staff in the restaurant, they were more then willing to fill a cooler with ice for me to keep the beer cold in the room.
GREAT ocean veiw as well.shark fin beach is one of my favorite beaches in CA
Husband and I stopped here after a grueling day hiking. I'd injured my foot and just wanted a bath and hot shower. We were pleasantly surprised by the price. It was a bit difficult to get upstairs to the room on crutches(no elevator), but totally worth the view from our bed. The French Doors open onto a wrap around balcony with rustic double rockers to sit and enjoy your coffee while watching the Pacific surf. We will come back!
Almost forgot to mention, we loved the thick brown Roadhouse Robes!
Great little restaurant and inn! Stop by every time I'm traveling along the coast!
Had a great lunch experience on a quiet Tuesday afternoon.
Uh. Amazing. No complaints and they even handled my room change due to some painting work - will def be back!
Good beer selection and AMAZING food. Well worth a try.
Great live music, I saw #justinhambly play here he is really good you should check him out. The food was good. I had the beet salad and really liked it, my friend had the garlic chicken pizza and that was tasty too. Good place to stop if you are in the area or passing by on highway one.
Amazing food that's locally grown. Great staff and atmosphere. We go there every time we are in the area and never disappointed
Nothing better than a hot bowl of NE clam chowdah & cup of coffee after a cold foggy (or warm sunny) day exploring the rocky coast.
Got outstanding service here. There was some confusion as to who was our server, and if not for that, I would have likely given five stars. My wife and I wanted a quick getaway for a few hours on a Sunday afternoon. We drove through a beautiful landscape and really appreciated being able to sit outside in the sun. The margherita pizza was excellent and the Bonny Doon Tannat Rose, A Proper Pink" was excellent. What topped this visit to Davenport Roadhouse was the service given by Henry. He was gracious in the face of my irritation when we were not served promptly. He gave intelligent advice on the wines, and even had the smarts to recommend a Taco Tuesday night and live music. Also a little pricey, but worth it for the whole experience.
Food was great and affordable. Enjoyed a wine flight and the waiter recommended some great wines!
went on waited for 10 mins before we were told to put our name on a list. waited 5 more minutes another costumers come in get seated right away.
Coo, friendly nice waitress..little on the expensive side but what can u expect. Tourist town
Amazing music and food. Great location near the beach. I recommend it!
Omg, I'd give this place more than five stars if I could ....
SECOND time eating here:
- once pre-Covid on steak night and we stayed over
-tonight during Covid with outdoor eating, ample spacing and heaters.
All staff were Very accommodating, Appeared a little understaffed with a little wait time but those who were there working were exceptional!! Deep friend pickles - best I have ever had and I order them out alot .... garlic bread is stuffed with cheese! Amazing ! Hubby had steak again. No complaints I had the artichoke & leek, white, veggie lasagna OMG!!! Such a big portion, so good ! Got the dessert shooters and a souvenir to go ( for a holiday gift )
Expensive, but good food. The service could be faster and the wait staff more humble. Otherwise its located at a remote place with a fantastic view just across the street. I'd come here again.
There are not too many choices to stay or eat in this area. We came here after wine tasting next door. I had enjoyed my burger for lunch. They have a small bakery section. The prices are reasonable.
Employees very nice. Took a long time to get our food. Carnitas were ok. Cute little place though. Wouldn't eat there again.
If your traveling down the coast, and you'll appreciate the quiet serenity of an old beach town (that's not grown up Santa Cruz)....stop in Davenport. Yes, it's not a 5 star hotel.....it's a true, historic Roadhouse. The rooms are Quant, but quiet and clean. The food is good, and the breakfasts are bomb. The inn keeper and staff have worked hard to keep it going through long winters, and it still holds the charm. When Hwy 1 goes quiet, take care long , moonlit walk on the beaches.
We have stayed at the Davenport Road house twice. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We love how close it is to the beach and near Santa Cruz. We loved everything we had at the restaurant - breakfast, lunch and dinner. There was live music on the weekends. The outdoor seating is spacious and comfortable. Our family of 4 had a great getaway!!
Amazing food and lovely ambiance. Live music is great too!
The Davenport Roadhouse is situated in a great location. It's located across from the old pier, which is the main attraction. The rooms are unique and have the old Roadhouse feel. The establishment charges for everything, such as, a cup of ice.
This used to be a favorite spot of ours, but under new ownership, customer service and up keep maintenance is lacking.
Food was good. Beer selection is small. Service was standard.
This was so bad . The pancakes were burnt . They ran out of pancake mix and came back 30 minutes later saying they ran out . They put Shrimp on my pancakes. They made my shirley temple with water . They didn t even ask it we wanted drinks . Didn t cook our french toast enough or burnt the pancakes. Ran out of lemonade and soda Machine was broken . The bacon was gross. Came back like 30 minutes later asking what kind of eggs we want and didn t even bring them.
Place was amazing. A gem in the rough along this coastline. Fresh ingredients from a down to earth place.
Stopped into the roadhouse while travelling down highway one. Service was quick and friendly, and the food and drinks were excellent. I would strongly recommend it to anyone who has the opportunity to try it.
Nice location. Especially if you want to go for a cliff walk during sunset and grab a bite to eat afterwards. But the food quality at the Roadhouse is not the greatest. Very salty. Soup tasted like it came out of a can, not much care in the preparation. Bread was cold. maybe a day old. Would not go there again for the food
Generally mediocre food, over-priced, limited menu, and mediocre service. We live nearby, and eat here only when there are no other options. Like two weeks ago when we had headed into Santa Cruz for dinner and got stuck in a two hour traffic jam caused by Highway Patrol investigating a multiple fatality accident two miles out of town. We turned around, hoping that Whale City Diner would still be open. It wasn't, so we ended up at the Davenport Road House.
Worst little motel i have stayed in, in long time. Dirty, old, musty, lumpiest mattress ever. Insult to injury... expensive. And the coffee worse yet.
The help ...very nice. Poweless Did not try the restaurant.
Homely place serving up some pretty quality food. Nice selection on the menu and good prices for what you get. Ate here for lunch and dinner, dinner had some live music from 6-9 which was a nice touch. Would recommend if you just got done with a day at the beach and want a bite to eat.
Amazing experience, person who helped me made the biggest difference i think his name was chris.
One of our favorite places to get away for the weekend. Unfortunately this stay we found multiple cleaning issues in our room. The staff is great and location is beautiful.
Stop for drinks. Small bar. Service is slow but incredibly friendly. Nice place to hang out.
Update: Went a second time expecting the food to be just as good. Was sorely disappointed with the Fish & Chips(Fish not fully cooked, fries soggy to the point of being wet) and Chowder bowl (barely luke warm). The Monterey panini I had during my last visit still holds up in taste and texture. The Margarita Pizza was beautifully done on a thin crust. Since food service is hit or miss, dropping down review to 3 stars.
Nice and quite. Food's surprisingly good. The staff is attentive and very polite. Rear side parking is limited but ample street parking.
Always have such great times here! Thank you, ROADHOUSE, for being such a fun destination.
Comfortable night spent here. Good food and friendly people.
I've stopped in occasionally for baked goods and coffee, even during this pandemic. I dunno what's changed since I was in last, but the espresso bar is gone, an actual bar is in its place. I had to settle for a cup of standard drop coffee that turned out to be nearly cold and horridly bitter. I've had better at fast food chains. That'll be my last time stopping here for quite some time.
Fantastic staff, food was so so. It is a pretty place with some good options of food. Drinks were great and the band playing on Tuesday night was fun and exciting.
Really long wait in the weekends. OK food. Not sure its worth the 1 hour wait.
Tasty food, but the waiter forgot the utensils and brought the wrong food.
Good food but very slow service. Waiters need to be more attentive- they're difficult to flag down.
The best seafood stew I ate since I moved to the US. I would go back to Davenport Roadhouse every day for that stew.
The environment is really nice and the service was really welcoming too.
Stopped by for lunch, food was alright. Service was good.
Nice coffee shop with pretty good ginger cookie. Service was relatively fast and very friendly. Parking is convenient. Park at the roadhouse and restaurant full bar. I kind of wish I was hungry because the lunch and dinner selections looked pretty good on the menu.
There's a coffee shop, a separate restaurant, and a hotel.
We stopped for lunch at the Davenport Roadhouse Restaurant and Inn on our way to Monterey. The food was great and the service was outstanding. Highly recommended.
Normally a fun location for good food and, on certain days, local entertainment. On this occasion, not so much.
I had just driven on Highway 1 from San Francisco on Christmas day and decided to stop for breakfast at the Davenport Roadhouse. Upon being directed to a table the waitress asked if we were there for breakfast, which I confirmed. The menus provided only listed lunch items. I asked for the breakfast menu and was told they were no longer serving breakfast that day. Then was told that lunch would not be available for 20 to 25 minutes. I asked for to-go cups for the coffee that had already been ordered and was charged $3.50 for each cup of standard brewed coffee. I will consider other options before returning here.
Vegetable Tacos absolutely tasty and delicious! Highly recommended!!
It takes time to eat here, don't be in a rush, but the food is the best I've had from a restaurant EVER, it was SO worth the wait!!!! I had artichoke and leek lasagna, and the Brussels sprouts appetizer. I'm never a "big" fan of Brussels sprouts, but these were absolutely incredible!!! If I could offer a 6th star, I definitely would! I'm a bit of a foodie, and these guys have it figured out!
Amazing handcrafted food in an absolutely beautiful location! Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Had a great time at a fine establishment!
Generously sized breakfast burrito, but I could pass on the black beans. Bacon was delicious, and pancakes were good. Good service - staff was very pleasant. Nice vibe too. Outdoor seating.
Unique pit stop to use the bathroom. Yummy baked goods and coffee
The notion of free wifi does not exist, specially at this place. I easily spent 50+ and if I hadn't spoken to the right person I wouldn't have spent 20... Blondie, get your act together, and management, you may want to make sure your staff know that providing guests needs is a major $$ maker. I probably would have left if it wasn't for Henry's smilling, outgoing customer service.
