Inn was not funky enough to be bohemian and not bohemian enough to justify being as funky as it was. Rooms a bit smelly and musty, but we had a pretty good time nonetheless. In a very pretty neighborhood with a cool cement church down the way, across the hwy from the beach. They should either go full on Santa Cruz or the rooms need a refresh.
Beautiful restaurant along the coast well worth the stop.
Excellent food and vibe! Will be back next time I'm in California!
No microwave no refrigerator but still a very nice place in very nice room. Staff courteous and polite, Davenport Beach very scenic. Stay here, just north outside Santa Cruz!
I made the mistake of ordering the turkey sandwich to go, thinking that at $16.00 it would be real carved turkey. It was extremely salty, with a wet, slimy texture, worst than most packaged low grade sandwich meat. I wouldn't recommend it.
Good welcome, good meal but room with average comfort
the service was friendly and the portions were large. the food was hot and the restaurant was extremely clean
Good food. But pretty typical American fare. Nice baked goods.
Good for drinks. Full bar as well as espresso and pastries. Dinner can be interesting. Stick to the basics.
Hed breakfast in the restaurant. Staff were very friendly and the meal was all right. Potatoes and eggs were a little bland but nothing some salt and pepper didn't fix. Mimosas are mostly champagne (a nice bonus).
Old school atmosphere and excellent service. You gotta try the caramelized Brussel sprouts.
Great location, clean, food was not the best but still good, a little slow service
A regular lunch spot when we take a day off to enjoy each others company. Great food, great staff!
Wow- this place surprised us. Really delicious food with dog-friendly patio! The turkey melt and fries were amazing
Great food, great views, and the room was very comfortable and rustic. Highly recommend!
Great restaurant gourmet food. Awesome atmosphere!!! Cool owner!!
Fisherman's Stew, Clam Chowder and truffle fries are stellar! Deliciousness we won't forget!
We ate great food while watching the ocean. Such a great place to eat and take in the sites.
Food is super fresh, local, and affordable. Delicious!
We stayed here 1 night on a last minute road trip and the room and staff was great!
The best seafood stew I've had in a long long time!!
The Roadhouse Inn was very comfy and clean. Excellent in-room coffee and locally made toiletries. We had the Swanton Room, which was a little bigger than most of the others, with an okay view. It did have a kinda funky smell, but we opened the doors and it cleared up. Lot of road/traffic noise until about 10 pm.
The resturant was very good. We loved the thin crust pesto pizza, Fisherman's Stew, and roasted Brussels sprouts. Reasonably priced for the quality of the food. We were glad we went on Tuesday - live music! Local band 6 to 9 pm.
Love this town, and the Roadhouse is the place to stay. Affordable, ocean views, great in-room coffee, super nice clean comfortable rooms, and a great restaurant, and bar, just downstairs! Great place to eat, good food, drink and company! Always a great choice when stopping on HWY 1... Great place to relax, recharge and enjoy! Love the Roadhouse, can't wait to stay again..
Great food, staff and dining experience. Love my new Irish waiter friend. Cool peeps!
Good food, fair prices make for a great food stop! We had fish and chips and enjoyed every bite! Would for sure eat here again
The wait to eat was over an hour so instead we just grabbed something to go. Took quite a while to get assistance and they gave us the wrong item.
Taco Tuesday... Along with live music... Hard to beat that
The first time I ate there was because the nearby bakery was packed. Since then, I've visited this place twice. Still haven't had the chance to visit the busy bakery.:-) Love their Fisherman's Pot. The bread is to die for. I asked more each time I was there. Also, took a little tour around the small time.
Their salad was great although their bread was a little undercooked. It was hard to get attention from the staff.
A nice place a location. Good hospitality and equal food. A go to if you're driving along hwy 1.
Home cooking at it's best, good service too. Has that mountain lodge feeling, fireplace and christmas music in December.
Dinner and drink pricing was a little high for the quality and decor. Everything on the menu is a la carte, they don't even bring bread to your table. We ordered a burger "medium" and it was served pretty rare. When we sent it back it took so long to get the replacement that we had to take it in a to-go container. They did discount the burger, which was appropriate.
Great burger. A little more expensive, but worth it. Clean, well-furnished location. Service was a little listless. The advertised "Oceanview" should not be so accurate. Large parking next to the house.
The service wasint the best but the food was good look like they only had one server at the time
Made to order homemade, not perfect but great tasting food.
Welcoming, friendly place. Very American. Great place to chill and get some food.
Excellent food and drinks. A beautiful view of the ocean from the dining room as well. Completely worth tje drive to get there. Prices were excellent as well!
A great place for modern comfort food. Very friendly and attentive wait staff as well as delicious and delicate pastries under the glass when you first walk in. An assortment of craft beers and wine makes this place an excellent stop if you re in the area enjoying a relaxing day on Highway one.
The food that we got was awesome, but the restaurant seemed short-staffed. Even when reservations were made, we where still waiting for get seated for around 20 minutes. There seemed to be only one waitress helping all of the tables, and she seemed really stressed running around from table to table. This may be an isolated experience, but I hope that they can hire more support so that it doesn't detract from the awesome food. Thanks
Food was good the service staff at the restaurant seemed overwhelmed and understaffed
Cozy, relaxed. Nice friendly service and good food.
Food isn't good , hostess very attractive (only positive ) , and my waitress was terrible.
The food at the Road house is delicious and has a good price point. I enjoyed the Philly cheese steak sandwhich and my other half had the fish and chips. We would recommend both. Dessert and coffee were enjoyable as well.
Gluten free and Celiac friendly first and chips... The best!
I went there because it was only around here on Christmas day.
Don't order dessert!!! First of all the food was sub par and exspensive. The bill was 70 dollars and 2 of the 3 of us shared the fish and chips. The fish and chips were the best thing we had even though they skimp on the chips. The Calimari lacked taste other than the overwhelming taste of salt. Ive had better soup out of a Campbells can. To add insult to injury we ordered a 5 dollar tart that was clearly marked 5 dollars and then were charged 10 because we didn't take it to go. Overall this meal was ripoff!!
We stopped for lunch at the Roadhouse without many expectations. However we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of our food and enjoyed the friendliness of all of the staff. The portion sizes are perfect and everything was fresh and well made. We also grabbed a ginger molasses cookie from the bakery for the road and it did not disappoint!
My family has been coming here for 20+ years. Place has sold a couple times, but the current incarnation is excellent good food and service, socially distanced. Go.
Quaint seaside restaurant with excellent fish and chips and great wood fire pizzas. Check out the specials on Wednesday for pizza and Thursday steak night!
We did not stay. We only visited for dinner.
Had an amazing meal today at the Davenport Roadhouse. Quick service and serving. One of the best meals out me and my family have had in recent weeks. Lots of locally-sourced and organic ingredients.
Everything looked and tasted great. The four of us shared the Fisherman's Stew, Fish and Chips and the Crispy Calamari Salad. Even our youngest (10) loved it. Remarkably it was all gluten-free (a big deal to me), including the French fries, which we would have eaten many more of if we had the room. You would not know the difference. Great portions. Reasonably priced. They are totally on board with the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program, which is awesome. The house-made sauces are soooo good. We will definitely be back.
They also had a shop with various locally made arts, crafts, books and such. My only complaint is that they seriously need to have someone proofread the menu.
Amazing food. Great service. Highly recommend this place.
Great looking restaurant and bakery. Breakfast lunch and dinner. Good looking wine selection.
The chocolate cake I purchased today was spectacular! Thanks for the suggestion.
One of the women working behind the bar was very rude about check in being at 3pm even though it was 2:40pm, come back in 5 minutes later and a nice young man is working and had no problem checking us in 15 minutes early. Room was nice enough but the bottom of the shower curtain was very dirty. If it was for more than one night I dont think I would have stayed, but it was fine for the one night I was there
A quiet, peaceful place with friendly staff in excellent food.
Tasty selection of cookies, muffins and pies. Great coffee although I wish it was hotter. Perfect spot to have a light dinner while admiring Davenport's breathtaking sunsets.
Very nice. Good food. Scenery is great along Hwy 1.
My sweetheart and I had a very disturbing experience at this abstablishment. I saw two waiters come inside to call other employees to the entrance. What I thought was them gathering to help someone in distress turned out to be something else. I couldn't see what eactly was happening in the mob of employees but I then saw a homeless man walk out the other side of doors. The homeless man turns around as if to try to walk back in when all of a sudden I see him go flying backward. Flying. Not falling. I then see the one who did the shoving. Who is now aggressively going towards the man he just violently shoved. I immediately run out to yell at the man who I thought was a drunk jerk. Luckily another man was already there to scold him. I find the homeless man on the ground, leaning on a makeshift parameter of 2x4s around a tree or bush or something. He very easily could have had his head spilt.
It turned out that the man doing the shoving was what we understood to be the owner of the establishment. The owner then later came over to us, not to apologise for his deplorable behavior but instead came to antagonize, make excuses for and defend his behavior. It seemed as if even though a minimum of three customers told him that his behavior was inexcusable and unacceptable, he seemed proud of himself and even gave us a smug smile. It was genuinely a very disturbing experience. And I will not return.
Really cool place.. Great Service good food across from beach. Stayed the night in cool cottage room in back
The food is very tasty, although the portions are small. The wine pours are quite generous.
Get the Seafood Stew! Enough for two! Very cozy quarters, too!
Stopped in for a quick bite to take to the beach. Service was quick and burger was great! Make sure to stop by wine tasting next door
Awesome fish tacos. Real amount of fish in each taco. Good beer
Great friendly pit stop on the one with great coffee and snacks.
This is a great place to get away but the management sucks, he is extremely rude. While we were down at the beach, we had someone break into our room and steal our brand new shoes. Management didn't do anything about it; I had to file a police report. Manager also told us that they don't change the pin on the locks every time the rooms are rented out to their guests. The locks also don't lock all the way like they are supposed to.
Great spot to stop for food and a beverage while riding down the coast. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.
Amazing fire oven pizza and phenomenal service. So cute. Must stop in PCH road trips!
Had christmas dinner here and Henry was our server. I think it might have been the best christmas dinner i have ever had!!!
