While I was only there for two nights it quickly began to feel like home. Edgar, the night manager assisted us the best he could with the dificult situation we had with Groupon. I'll defintely be staying here again if I'm in Houston. Everything was very clean, staff in general was kind, but the food they served was at best decent. Stayed on the fourth floor. Walls were a little thin, I could hear the TV from upstairs a bit but the bed was comfortable enough so it was ignorable. Overall I would recommend staying here, it felt like a second home.

This hotel is old outdated and not in a good neighborhood. You can hear the street noise very clearly. The curtains are dirty. There was a beer glass someone set right outside my room and it stayed there for the entire length of my stay. Nobody saw this there for 4 days!? Right on the hallway!? I'm not sure how this hotel is rated anything above 2 stars. The staff is friendly enough but nothing spectacular. There are far better hotels FOR LESS not that far away. I wanted to switch hotels but couldn't since I booked thru Travelocity and had a no cancellation rate. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. It's needs a face-lift.
You have to walk through the pool to get to the gym. Not the smartest idea to have to walk through a wet area before you're going to workout.

Disgusting....how about cleaning to start, then get maintenance to do repairs and standard up keeping of rooms and REPLACE THE RUSTED OUT BLOW DRYER!!! NOT WORTH THE HIGH PRICE!!!!!! FIND ANOTHER PLACE TO STAY!!

Went for leisure for the New Year and was absolutely disgusted with their amenities. The pool and jacuzzi did not have chlorine. The pool and jacuzzi water smelled like a dirty restroom and the water was filthy. Bartender didn't know how to make drinks. His reasons were because he was a manager filling in as a bartender. We were told by the reservation line that drinks would be $5, the hotel did not honor. We absolutely hated our stay and would never recommend anyone to this property.

This place has pluses and minuses. Location is very convenient. Suites are good size. In-room amenities are above average - toiletry products are organic with essential oils, comfy bed, quality sheets, excellent pillows, Turkish bathrobes, ... Much better than expected at this price point. Also friendly, helpful staff. However the hotel itself is very dated, well worn but still well maintained. Dirty mustard color. Threadbare dark brown carpet laid over uneven tiles was very disconcerting. Wrought iron railing that doesn't look like it would hold if you stumbled and fell. And the worst, almost bad enough to overwhelm all the positives, was the stench. Heavy use of Glade deodorizers to cover the embedded smell of stale smoke from decades gone by. Another downfall is the parking. Lot is nowhere big enough for the number of rooms. So don't get back too late on the weekend or you won't have a spot.

Room smelled bad couldn t get a room close to all of our family here in town we all stayed in this hotel. Elevators were down except one took like 15 to make its way down. No carts to bring in luggage will never stay here again nor recommend the family again since we all couldn t stay near each other

Every time I visit Houston I would always stay here, this time will be the last time. Whoever owns this hotel is letting it go to hell. There used to be 4 elevators and now only one elevator works. Another problem with this hotel is that you won t get peaceful sleep because the fire alarms malfunction and go off every other hour during the night.

Hotel is run down. Air conditioner is only adjustable to 70 degrees which could be fine but the air must be water cooled because the room is extremely humid. We had to leave because they could not find out where pot was being smoked and it was being drawn into our room They offered to have us move to another room but with the humid air and warm temp we left. The outside temp was 58 but room stayed a muggy 70. Corporate credited us back for the stay because the property didn't even though it's supposed to be a smoke free hotel. Hopefully IHG will remove this hotel from their name because it lacks the quality to remain in the family.

Sadly it was a good experience but turned out to be disappointed at the end. Again AC it's an ongoing thing with this place, 3 days family trip, 1st night was ok, 2nd night was warm, 3rd night was hot and couldn't sleep. Many guests complaint just as we did, alot of them left and we had no choice but to stay the last night. Elevators still don't work since H. Harvey, breakfast was great overall. Staff was friendly downstairs at cafeteria area. Yes it's an old building but pretty, the price is affordable but AC just ruined the nights to sleep comfortably. Rooms are outdated but plenty of space which it evens out.

BAD EXPERIENCE

BAD EXPERIENCE

First off upon checking in the front desk tried to overcharge me for the reservation so I had to pull up the confirmation email that had been sent to me. Secondly the elevators didn't work so we had to take the stairs, which was really ridiculous for a family of 5 on a vacation. So we get to our room and the sofa love seat is flipped up, which I found kind of odd being that the room appeared to be clean. The kids and I chose to stick it out in hopes that things would get better. But nope...the next morning my daughter and son decide to go eat breakfast not only were they charged but they were charged 25 dollars for a buffet that did not include bacon. Like wow really, I was livid. First off breakfast was included in the rate. So I call the front desk and so hey enough is enough what's going on here. She continued on to explain that she forgot to give the breakfast vouchers at the time of check in. I told her so you guys just decide to charge 2 children 25 dollars instead. She told me that I could come down and get the refund at any time. All in all this hotel looks good from the outside but go inside and you will see that they're in desperate need for improvement.
Had to REPOST my review since it mysteriously disappeared

I have stayed in a lot of countrys and in some bad places and this one here I would not ever stay in this place again it has 245 rooms it has four elevators but only one of them worked each night it was less and less towels I have even slept in a tent for 60 days in Poland and that was a better stay slept on a marble floor in Iraq and that's was better so no do not book a room here

if you have a group event, don't recommend this place. The management there including their accounting personnel does not know what they are doing. we had an event back in February and we asked if we could pay check, they said it was okay. However, they did require credit card which was okay. But at the end, after we even paid check, they still charged our credit card. It took forever for them to credit our card. Then two months later, all of a sudden i see a bill over $300 dollars. When I called, they said it was because there were some rooms that were not paid for. We had all the receipts that we paid for previously including check number and they already cashed it. The accounting guy really has no clue what he is doing. Took over 3 months to get resolve and we had to go there again to bring all our receipts showing we paid for. they are truly incompetent.

Our room was only $99 a night for Friday and Saturday night. We had two Queen beds and a separate lounging area complete with kitchenette. We called the restaurant downstairs to inquire about breakfast and wether or not there was a free continental and though we were told yes, we were handed a bill at the end of our meal. The manager of the hotel was very accommodating and professional in handling the situation when we mentioned it to him. The location is a bit shady but I'm new to Houston so what do I know. Also there are several hotels in the area.

I rented 10 rooms as part of a group. the feedback from my group was excellent. everyone loved the large suites. their full breakfast was great. half of the group took advantage of the indoor pool and Jacuzzi. The free WiFi and their business center was very convenient. location was also great, just off the highway and next to a mall. plenty of restaurants options nearby not forgetting the Olive Garden right next door. this was our first time at this hotel but will definitely stay with them again.

Two Words - Bed Bugs... Spacious and older charm... the bed bugs did it for me though. Then the hotel staff tried to offer me a $20 credit for the inconvenience. Just ridiculous. I took pictures before leaving the hotel... 8 bites in all from one night's stay. Ugh! Also, they charged me for a second day without my presence or approval. Took 2.5 weeks for them to finally process the refund. Just don't do it. If its cheap, there's good reason.

I have been staying at this hotel on a regular basis and I am very pleased with the consistency of the product and services at this beautiful Hotel. The staff goes above and beyond each time and the complimentary shuttle within a 10 mile radius comes in very handy for me when I go out on weekends. The rooms are beautiful two room suites with all nice amenities.. free super fast wireless connection, Wolfgang Puck complimentary coffee, free in room safe, microwave, referigerator . They also give me a complimentary lavish buffet each morning with cooked to order international omelets. The rates are very reasonable and excellent value. I would highly recommend this hidden gem to any traveler

didn't like no smoking on BALCONY.. that's why people pay more and get rooms with balconies. They call it executive suite. But, looks just like the other rooms. Only more expensive. No free breakfast. It's over priced.. just a large disappointment. 1 working elevator. Rooms are out dated. Loud from highway. Rude front desk people in the mornings. Night crew was cool. Nygil. The rest.. horrible accommodations... This isn't a Crowne plaza I think it's own by a family. So they are doing thing their way.. it's not worth the money. You can get better service at motel 6 and save a hundred or so.

The hotel itself is great. Pros: The rooms are very spacious, and the facilty has a somewhat luxury feel to it. Each room has a mini balcony. Not big enough for much sitting but nice for some fresh air. The indoor pool was arranged nicely. Overall the whole place felt clean. Cons: bathroom in the King Suite felt a bit cramped. Also, there was a problem during check-in. (Hotel's fault) Had to wait like an hour to get things completely sorted out. They did however compensate with free breakfast and late checkout. Gabriel, the guy at the front desk, was very professional even when tensions got high.

Don't waste time reading the 5-star reviews of this place, Crown Plaza has clearly resorted to paid ratings in order to scrape up more business. The place is rated highly in the area, but upon closer inspection of the reviews, the explanations as to why the place is so great are suspiciously vague. The only thing that is 4-5 stars about this place is the price.

This Crowne Plaza near Sugar Land location is 2-stars at best. It checks all the boxes in terms of what a 3-star hotel would have but the quality of the amenities and the service along with the overwhelming rancid smell found all around the hotel that is hard to ignore far outweigh any positives one would say about this hotel. Think of Crown Plaza near Sugar Land as another version of a Motel 6. I never seen a 3-star hotel in this bad of a condition.

What did the place smell like? Basically like dirty mop buckets, and mildew mixed with dust all over the place. It was as if it suffered from a serious flood and never recovered. The room wasn't any better, along with the smell there were stains on the curtains. The shampoo and soap and conditioner also smelled very bad, and the air conditioner was in a state of disrepair.

Also, there are always two police cars out front which makes me feel safe, but it also makes one wonder if this place is prone to criminal activity....

When I did do some research to see how dangerous the area around Crown Plaza Suites near Sugarland actually was. I found that within close proximity to the two most dangerous areas in Houston which was Alief and Sharpstown which are both known for their high robbery, theft, and assault rates.

Despite all of this, the only pros were that the room was big and had it's own living room, I would say the rooms were about 500+ square feet which was nice, there is definitely a lot of potential at this location but appears that the location isn't well managed. There was a fridge in the room and a microwave that were both appeared clean, and two TV's with basic cable.

There are two restaurants/bars on the first floor which are convenient, and two restaurants Olive Garden, and Salt Grass steakhouse adjacent to the building which makes things very convenient. What would be nicer is if there was a grocery store closer to the building and an onsite washer/dryer facility..

Although there is a lot of potential and some positives, I would not stay here again despite the cost savings.

Nice experience!!! The staff was very accommodating, especially to my 10 who had plenty of hospitality questions. Suite was clean, food was well priced and pool for the kids was a hit!!! Thank you from the visiting Ohio family

Gross hotel. We paid extra for the "executive suite" and it was terrible. Bathroom was gross, TV did not work, and a terrible room setup that was no different than any other regular suite except for the fact that it had more empty space. Hot tub was also disgusting with brown frothy bubbles in the water. Yuck! Take a look at the pics I posted as proof.

Very affordable. Nice and spacious suites. Kind front desk help. Security and cameras all throughout the parking lot. A little early on the housekeeping compared to check-out time but that's the only complaint. Highly recommend this hotel!

Absolutely loved our stay. Great room, pool, and jacuzzi. Surrounded by great restaurants. Hotel security patrolling the parking lot. The only thing I noticed is a little noise from the people dinning down stairs.. But other than that I will stay again..

Booked through Groupon and paid $90 with taxes... couldn't have asked or dreamed of better for that price! There is no bell hop or valet however, all the staff was amazing. Bed was a little uncomfortable (stiff) however it's really classy.

The rooms was extremely hot the a/c went out which left the rooms hot & very uncomfortable their was 6fans but its over 200 rooms so only 6 rooms received a fan. Nothing was done until hours later km so disappointed.

Love it

It was a wonderful experience. Nice staff and that they will respect about your privacy. The food is fabulous and the swimming area is calming at times.
But, I think I lost something very close to me.
It is a purple teddy bear with a white rose at the right side of its body. I was staying at room 404, if you find it, can you please hold on to it.
If it is not there, thanks for looking for my teddy bear.
If you do find my teddy bear, please inform me.
I hope you have a good day.

Appearance was nice, guest services was terrible from the moment we checked in. It took them 45 minutes to check us in, and that not include the 30 minutes we waited in line. Then our cards were overcharge and we still haven't gotten our money back like they promised. We will be contacting guest relations about this whole experience. Only one out of the four elevators worked during check in and the last elevator broke down at check out and we were on the fifth floor with toddlers and a newborn. I understand its an old hotel and i would have been on with the electrical issues with elevators if my whole experience was not terrible to begin with. TV's didn't work properly, either the volume didn't work and the picture showed or the volume worked and the picture didn't show. Coffee maker did not work, we had to borrow from another room. We windows looked disgusting on the final elevator that actually worked and the entry doors, you could barely see out of them. I am greatly disappointed with this hotel. Worse experience ever!

We used to like this hotel, the rooms are big and spacious and it is pet friendly. However, parking is an absolute NIGHTMARE and it has been getting too noisy if you go on a weekend. The hotel has an event venue and they have no control over the parking. The last time we stayed on that hotel, we spent more than 20 mins driving by the parking lot, we got so desperate and asked the front desk what s going on. They told us they had an event, and that we should park at the restaurant across the street for now and later on in the night move the car to the parking lot when the event is over. UMHHH NOPE.... If the event guest are eventually leaving.. Why don t they park by the restaurant instead of us waking up during the night to move the car? No thanks, not coming back.

I was very fortunate to have found Crowne Plaza for a study tour group from China. The group stayed in the hotel for 9 nights and we also had evening English classes in the conference room of the hotel. All the kids and teachers loved the hotel. The rooms are huge, the facilities are clean, the location is convenient, the services were great, the staff were friendly and the price was just right. They even have staff who can speak mandarin and cantonese! From now on, if we need to host another group from China, I won't look anywhere else. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Houston.

ALL of the elevators stopped working. Had to go down 5 flights of stairs in heels. They did have the elevator working again by the time I had returned. Free breakfast and drink the first morning and night of your stay.
