Crowne Plaza Ottawa Review

Large room with comfortable bed. Staff was friendly. The place feels a little dated and is pricey for what you get.

Great location while working downtown Gatineau. The front desk staff were very polite and helpful.

The hotel had high comfortable beds with fluffy pillows and towels, however it was a little out of the way for our visit to Ottawa. The pool and spa were super hot so you could only really walk around and not swim or sit too long in both. They were both over heated for winter let alone summer time. The only big issue we had was it was advertised as a non smoking hotel yet all the rooms stuck of cigarette smoke. Buses outside the door to downtown once you could work it out and laundry for washing ten minutes walk up the road.

It's a nice cozy place. Very comfortable and relaxing

Rooms were nice and clean.. breakfast was well worth the money... Hotel was quiet got a good night's sleep.. will stay at again

Property needs for cleanup, room i got was not dusted properly, beds were really comfortable. Staff was very polite and helpful. Getting into parking lot was tricky.

First impressions of hotel were excellent. Arrived late at night to a gorgeous site of the entrance area. Was upgraded to a suite. Room was amazing. Had a living room, 1 and a half bathrooms, kitchen area and master bedroom. Pool is lovely. Great location. Perfect hotel.

Beds were a bit uncomfortable and like most hotels, the tap water is only ever ice cold or scalding hot

Front lobby and entrance is welcoming. The hotel is connected to a Tims.

Great Staff. We were initially checked into a room that perhaps was a bit overlooked by room cleaning - there was hair in the tub and bed and the previous Guest's meal was still in fridge. But the front desk took immediate action as we reported. They apologized profusely, then changed our room immediately.

Overall great experience. Very quiet neighborhood. Only thing i didnt like is i had to pay for parking.

Really nice hotel, with good size room and an indoor parking. The parking is a little pricey but needed in this area since there is no other option.

This is the worst hotel. I only stayed on night and charged me four times on my credit card. Totally different number from my invoice that front desktop gave me when I checked out. I called this hotel three times after I found it charged me too much, left message to relative department, nobody called me back. I sent an email to this hotel , however my email was returned and I was told that its email box is full. I don't know how to contact this hotel and have to leave a message here. If you stay this hotel, don't forget to check your account after you go home

Great location, clean rooms. Ask for River view, can't beat that view in Gatineau!

FOOD!!!!!! Why are the restaurants closed all the time and no room service!!!! Also the linens suck, crowne plaza used to have great linens, now they are just weird.

It was good. Simple instructions to conference room. But heat was too high

Nice place to stay. Pool is nice. Stayed for a hockey tournament, kids ran the whole floor. Parents were able to order pizza locally and eat in the hall. That was good since the resto at the hotel could not accomodate the 30 of us on such short notice.(Not a complaint, just suggest if you are going to, make a reservation early so they know your coming)

Easy check in and out, comfortable and spacious room (1407), but -1 star as it is starting to show some wear and tear.

Clean and spacious room. Beautiful building. Indoor parking 18$(was not told the price when offered a parking). Loved the rest.

Attended an event in Crowne Plaza Gatineau. It was really nice.

We had to change our rooms two times because they all smelled really bad.
The list of available TV channels were very limited. The showers were difficult to control and the shower head modes were really bad. Overall for a Crowne Plaza Hotel, I wasn t impressed at all.

Very expensive hotel, neglected customer service.

The front desk never answered every time we called for information, the first room we were offered had not been cleaned, specially the toilet, lunches were not included, neither was parking . The
Buffet was available for $ 16 per person, food was cold. The bar, we went to get a drink, the waitress could not make the drinks adequately because they had had a wedding and a good part of her bottles were empty ... It seems that the establishment did not prepare in consequence of its reservations. Parking at a cost of $ 18 per night gives unlimited access to it. The hotel gives the guest a card so they can get in and out, however, each time we wanted to exit we were refused by the machine ... $ 18 To have to return to the lobby each time we exit the parking lot. Speaking of marriage ... an unimaginable number of people constantly in the
Lobby with kids running around everywhere. We had all frequented Crown Plaza before this experience and the service received at this establishment in no way reflects the brand image.

The whole experience was painful and unpleasant.

The room needs new carpeting and temperature control, sometimes the room got cold in the winter and there was no way to turn up the heat.

Terrible service. Went there at midnight to check in our room was full of pizza and beer cans. Was given another room and walk in and other people are in it. After an hour we finally get a room but not the type that was originally booked.

Very nice lobby, but the room wasn't done when we got in. In fact there was open alcohol bottles left. Hotel management just wanted to dismiss it and offered no help at all. Will not be going back here.

I had the breakfast buffet. It was reasonably priced and the selection was great.

I would stay here again. Always had a parking spot close the the exit in secure and monitored underground parking. Close to many great restaurants and late night eateries.

The room was clean had a fridge, and I got a good sleep. I will be back next time I stay in Ottawa.

They had a wonderful dining hall. The food could have used more spices.

My experience at the Crown Plaza Gatineau is that I was extremely satisfied that we will return for sure wen we come back to Gatineau-Ottawa

Rooms not ready at check-in. Advertised as having a restaurant and bar with room service - no bar, no room service, restaurant is a buffet. Whirlpool is broken and headboard in our room is dirty

Front desk customer service was great and the room was visually appealing and clean. There were no problems until I had gone home. I checked my credit card statement and noticed that I was charged more than I had agreed to pay. I left a message with the hotel and someone returned my call promptly. No complaints there.

The overcharge was for a parking fee. I am upset because I had asked specifically when I arrived at the hotel if the stay included parking and the front desk receptionist replied yes. At no point during the transaction or my stay was I told or aware that parking would be $18.

Had I known that I was going to be charged a parking fee I would have done things differently. I might have considered booking another hotel closer to the activities I had set out for the day in Ottawa. I had a whole day planned and left my car at the hotel. If I had knew about this parking fee, I would have took my car and drove and paid the parking fees on the streets. It would have saved me all the walking I did that day.

What is more frustrating is when they returned my call and I had expressed how upsetting this was for me, the gentleman on the line was dismissive and stated all clients are told that parking is to be paid for. I told him I would not be wasting my time calling them for $18 if that was the case. I continued to explain how I changed my plans based on the fact that I thought parking was included and he continued to be dismissive. He pulled up the reservation and said well I got the room for a pretty good price, pretty much implying that because I got a good rate that even with a parking fee that I still paid cheaper than market value. He goes on to tell me he will forward this information to the manager but he doubts she will do anything for me. I do not understand the relevance of the statements he made.

All in all, this was more about principle than it was for the dollar amount. Situations like this is not just about making customers happy and keeping them from visiting your competitors, it's also an opportunity to learn what shortcomings or problem areas your business might have. Consider complaints as feedback from clients who are trying out your business. Then do whatever you can to correct anything they found lacking. I am very disappointed with the level of customer aftercare provided by the Crowne Plaza in Gatineau. I will not be returning to this hotel after learning how they treat their clients after they've taken their money.

It's a nice hotel with a very good location
I was in Ottawa for 2 weeks very nice hotel but I like this location better.

I was there for a business meeting. The beautiful, spacious room was exquisitely arranged with the requested furniture and A/V materials. There was cold water ready for the attendees outside along with plenty of cups. Overall, a great experience. Highly recommended.

The conference room was packed with an entire department so people had to stand outside. Don't know if there was a larger conference room but if it existed, that would have been the better option.

Asked for boxed breakfast, the staff couldn't find them in the morning. Sad

To be honest, the rooms are affordable but just okay. On the other hand, the service is great. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The best feature here is probably the pool, whirlpool, sauna and mini gym. Everything is functional and we'll maintained. The yearly membership works out to about fifty bucks a month. Had such a relaxing time.

Staff was fantastic and room was updated and beautiful.

Nice, quiet and very clean rooms. Pool, sauna and spa downstairs.. The food at the bistro was very good as well. I recommend the place.

This place is really nice! The hotel is really accommodating, the entrance is beautiful. The people and the attendants are very curteous and respectful. The parking is a bit expensive, but it's very convenient as it's gated and protected. Would definitely stay here again, if needing the chance.

Unfortunately the fire alarm went off during the wedding meal service, after half hour they proceeded to serve cold food.

Bricks are falling off, bays and rats are residents (and I am not talking at. Management).

The room was clean. However, bed side lights didn't work. Also a smke detector inside the room was flashing green lights constantly. It's very annoying at night when you try to sleep. The staff is not very helpful. In general, 3 out of 5 just for a clean room to spend a night or two.

Love this hotel. I stay there once or twice a month. Rooms are big, clean. Room service food is good. Staff is friendly, though I recently had a bad experience with front desk. Otherwise, great job.

We stayed couple of days here during our visit to Ottowa. In general it was a nice experience to stay here. I can not complain about anything. View was fantastic. We were surprised to find such nature view in the city. Room was very big. There was a underground parking but it was not free. We didn't take breakfast or ate at their restaurants so I can not comment about it.

Feces backed up in our bathtub and onto the floor of th bathroom during the night. The maintenence guy was very polite and professional but the front desk staff couldn't even mutter an apology, kept telling my father who went downstairs that it had been cleaned (it had not. The maintenance guy fixed it but no one ever came to wash the floors or disinfect). We sat in a room that smelled like Feces for two hours before I had to go downstairs and physically ask for a manager. Prior to that we were told if we wanted to shower we could go in the pool area and use the washroom in the lobby. We were told there were no other rooms available, however the manager miraculously found one. We were moved to another room and the manager said she would look into comping us for something. This was after we said we would be calling public health. Before this, I would have been rating this hotel with a 3 star rating. Average room, location is decent to downtown ($10 cab ride), pool hours are not very good, beds are small...

Nice hotel, nice rooms. But outch for the restaurant. People waited for their lunch at least 1 hour long. Need change for the restaurant. It does not give us the taste to return to this hotel ......

Hotel is very clean and well kept. Rooms are well maintained and clean Bathrooms. Parking is not free though and is managed by a third party company but has internal access to the parking levels from the lobby. Higher floor will have a good view but other than the dam on Lake Ontario, there's not much to view.

The rented room was well equipped, but the men's washroom was out of order and there was no indication to direct us to another bathroom. It was an important inconvenience.

Very courteous and kind staff. The only downside is the $ 18 parking fee and there are no steps (elevator required). The rooms are very good. Very comfortable bed and very quiet hotel.

Room service didn't come to my room for the few days we stayed and there were bugs in the room flying around. Not coming back to a clean room is pretty bad after a long day. They didn't even want to compensate us directly as they said it was unfair to other guests who also didn't get their rooms cleaned. Service was quite blunt with undertones of irritation. Looks nice in the lobby and gym was clean.

Stayed there for 2 nights. Lobby looks dark and tired. Front desk staff are not friendly at all! Very very cold in communication!

There was fresh blood stains on our bed sheets! Informed them and they ve changed our room and gave us breakfast vouchers!
The breakfast was a disaster! Everything was cold and tasted like feet! Super dirty restaurant and very disgusting! Crumbs everywhere!
The old women who sat us was very dirty to and kinda rude, We could see her booger! She got us cold coffee and the cups had stains on them!

Very disappointing... we would never go back here for numerous reasons!

The only nice thing about this place was the manager (I believe his name was Vincent) who handled the room situation for us!
