Dead fly in daughter's chicken caesar salad from Canfield location. So much for a nice Father's Day dinner. Maybe more money should be invested in quality control rather than naming rights for an unused concert venue. 1 star is quite generous.

I have to agree with the other reviews. I was recruited and worked as a manager; it was the worst professional experience I have ever had. If you look at the staffing at corporate, you can see that Covelli squeezes everyone to gain as much profit as he can. His constant self interest is apparent with how he works to get his picture in the paper and advertise how much he gives to charity every year. Meanwhile, many associates are forced to get welfare benefits to survive.

He has at least 300 restaurants with a conservative estimate of 40 employees per restaurant. That would equal 12,000+ employees. For all of these employees, there is ONE HR person. Good luck getting her to call you back.

Similarly, there is ONE person in charge of benefits for all of his restaurants. So, much of the operational tasks that would go to these positions is dumped on the district managers or slips through the cracks. The culture is very chaotic and disorganized.

There was no one that I felt was a good example and possible mentor. Middle and upper management use intimidation and shaming to keep employees in line. As a result, good employees don't stay. Anyone who has seniority with the company does not display competence or professionalism. They are good at managing Mr. Covelli and stepping on whoever is necessary to get ahead.

While I was grateful for the paycheck, I was more than happy to leave and move on to something much better.

Have been trying to contact for employment verification. No call back and never received the email that was said to have been sent. Can not get anyone to answer when calling. Would not suggest working for them

It's sad to see how little this company cares for it's employees. They want large profitability, but are unwilling to back staff that tries to help. Everyone knows racism has been ramapnt from the the top down, but they're now using a bonus structure to trap district managers from assisting in larger problems. Best way way to keep people compliant is to threaten their paychecks, apparently

I have about 27,000 followers on Yelp but for some reason the Panera unit in North Myrtle Beach is not active to review. I am puzzled by a few things about Covelli Enterprises and the negative reviews that Covelli gets by so many people including former and current employees. The brand of Panera is a powerhouse , and while it has sold to JAB, not sure how that will work out, but I give 5 stars to Panera's team in North Myrtle Beach and would add one more star if I could. The management with Dan, Rich, Caitlyn, and the balance of the team of Saad
(AKA "Salad"), Jose, Deon, Kelsey, Zack, Jutta, Savannah (special shout out for Lizzie) and the rest of them are a winning team and work as a unit. The training when the they opened this unit is first class and for the first few weeks they worked to make everything seamless and efficient. This unit is doing more lunch and lower numbers for breakfast based upon where we are located but Rich is focused on Labor and manages that great.

Panera technology and menu are terrific and once they start delivery to the beach more business will surely come. One of the best fast casual teams I have seen. But concerned about the bad press Covelli Enterprises receives ranging from a lack of focus on the people, inadequate corporate staff to provide assistance needed and more troublesome comments.

My suggestion would be to get feedback from this unit and team as they look and work great as a team and with Rich, Dan & Caitlyn heading this, it will succeed. So why am I so impressed with the staff and performance at this location and so many other land mines are out there commenting on how Covelli Enterprises needs to ratchet up their game and be more sensitive to the unit level teams across their other units? Something is amiss and I believe there are corporate issues that need to be addressed as the team at Noth Myrtle Beach knows what it takes so do not screw up with what they are doing here but copy what this team is doing and get a learning management system such as Wisetails (Carribou coffee uses this and it is owned by JAB) as this is a key starting point.

Love this location in North Myrtle Beach and Covelli should activate it on Yelp which is a Concern of mine as well. Great Jon North Myrtle Beach team. Kudos

Worst place to ever work for poor management and favoritism showed towards employees while other employees get talked down to and downgraded I would never recommend anybody to work there let alone eat there the company is self centered and MR. COVELLI IS A CHEAP SCAPE THAT WORKS HIS EMPLOYEES TO DEATH AND PAYS VERY LITTLE ALSO HE'S MORE CONCERNED ABOUT GETTING HIS NAME IN THE PAPER OR ON TV WHICH HE SAYS HE IS DONATING TO CHARITIES IT'S THE LEFT OVER GOODS THAT DID NOT SELL BEFORE THEY WENT OUT OF DATE he don't even deserve a one star rating

I haven't been at Panera in over 2 yrs because of customer service issue at that time (this location). Gave them another chance today. I should have known better. Ordered 1/2 Mediterranean Veggie sandwich. No pickle included even though I asked if it was and told yes. Here's what Panera menu says: INDIVIDUAL HALF AND WHOLE COLD SANDWICHES SERVED WITH A PICKLE 5 CAL. What...no restaurant quality control monitoring to get standard order correct? Definitely an issue. Niles Ohio Panera location.

As a former employee for on of this companies rest...

As a former employee for on of this companies restaurants, I recently ended my tenure because they bought a franchise I worked for. They swooped in and completely turned the place around. New policies introduced caused a dozen employees to quit in less than 2 months. I know restaurants have high turn over rates, but when it is the top end employees leaving I see an issue. I myself worked at the franchise prior to its purchase for upwards of a decade. It hurt to leave because of bonds I had made with the customers in that time. I chose to leave because of the disrespect it seemed this companies higher ups had towards even the general managers of my franchise. They seem to want you to work for them rather than them working with each other. There was a lack of team work and basic communication in terms of transitioning from former ownership to the new ownership. I had colleagues at other stores within my franchise that confirmed with me that morale at there stores as well as mine had bottomed out. When you have store morale in the negative that drops service times down and customer service down. Once those drop down so low your regular customers quit coming in. So in closing I left once my franchise was purchased. Their new policies enforced immediately I found to be difficult to handle and the lack of respect I received from their employers seeing through the transition was the final bit of icing on the cake.

I "went" to the Ontario Ohio Panera every day for coffee around 7:00am. And every day I experienced 1 of 2 things. Either they were 100% out of coffee and they had to take my cups in the back to fill them, or the coffee was full but it had been made over 1 1/2 half ago. I was a patron of this restaurant since it opened many years ago, but I have seen the prices steadily increase, many of the "regular" patrons leave for the same reason I have mentioned above and literally NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING has ever been addressed. I mentioned it to the restaurant Manager and the general manager with nothing ever being done. If they only knew that when people are standing in line to be waited on the big joke is how they are a bakery and coffee shop that NEVER has coffee. Anyone that goes to the restaurant regularly always jokes about it.

Covelli Enterprises was once the largest franchise...

Covelli Enterprises was once the largest franchisee of McDonald s Restaurants. Today, there are no McDonald s Restaurants in the Covelli portfolio.
Instead, the Covelli family moved to Panera Bread franchises and is now the largest franchisee of that brand. Most recently, Covelli Enterprises began opening Dairy Queens. Albert Covelli, who passed away in 2014, set high standards for his son, Sam, who leads the company today. For Albert, nothing mattered more than a happy customer.

At the moment, I would give ZERO, 0 stars if that were an option. Two managers at Panera Lakewood were treating me with grave disrespect for my presentation of a medical exemption for mask wearing; I was excessively questioned repeatedly, and only when I stated that I was there for a quick take-out order would they begin to consider serving me. Never called me to the counter, assumed one size coffee when I stated my wish for a coffee, then assumed to charge me rather than asking for my Panera card number which holds a bottomless coffee purchase. The managers there are discourteous, disrespectful, lacking professionalism, and wouldn't know how to be nice if they were paid extra to do so. The one who was just "observing" followed me out of the restaurant. What did she think I was going to do after leaving with my coffee?

I have been a fan of Panera Bread for at least 12 ...

I have been a fan of Panera Bread for at least 12 years and having come from the hospitality industry and my experience as a Director at Marriot, I feel that I am a fair judge of a quality restaurant. Quality takes in so many aspects like price, product, placement, location, service and demand. Panera Bread sprung onto the scene with an attractive restaurant that served baked goods, soup, sandwiches and salads all creatively presented in a wholesome manner. The loyalty program and free refills on drinks are also an asset. However, as the prices have gone up, the service and quality have declined. Panera Breads prices for soup and sandwich now rival. a 6 ounce steak dinner at Outback, where we are served by smiling and well trained wait staff. There are 2 Panera Bread locations in Dayton that consistently disappoint me to the point of avoiding them as much as possible. One is the Kettering Town & Country location where mistakes go unchecked. This shows poor training by management and lack of concern for detail. Friendliness is also missing. Whatever happened to the question, would you like to add a 99 cent pastry to your order? Please tell me if I have or don t have a reward coming to me. Don t just ignore it. Tonight I clearly ordered my favorite salad, the chopped chicken Cobb and when I got home I had a Caesar. The cashier made the mistake no one else. She had to be told by the Lead Manager that I didn t owe $9+ as I had given her a $3 off coupon on a Pick 2. So I guess I was asking for too much to have the right salad. The other disappointing Panera Location is at the Dayton Mall on 725. I went with a friend one night before our movie and if we weren t in a hurry, we would have walked out because of the dirty mess. Litter was all over the floors and right inside the main entrance. Tables weren t wiped down and they weren t even busy. I will never go back there. The management teams of these poorly run establishments should visit a Panera Bread in Florida where the hospitality industry has degreed professionals that take pride in their work and know how a great restaurant should be run. Too many young kids working while going to highschool aren t going to give the attention necessary for a wonderful dining experience. Panera needs to do what Chipotle is doing and start properly training and hiring people 18 or older. Also, hire competent managers and keep nepotism out of the process.

This one star rating is overrated seeing covelli doesnt even deserve a speckle of a star rating. I am a former employee at the clintonville panera and can honestly say, I have never worked for such a discriminating and racist company in my life. Everyday forced to subject myself to be talked down to and to serve good honest customers with bad produce and out of date product. I quit my job only to get begged to come back to avoid a lawsuit..get real..how unprofessional is that. In all honesty covelli is the worst business owner I have ever met and I am ashamed that I ever subjected myself to be treated as a lesser person in life. Reality check covelli learn how to run a damn business and realize having money does not make you God..

Worst of the very worst! I think at one time Mr Covelli may have been well intended but as he acquired more & more his pupils started to become shaped like this $$$. He now is more concerned with getting his face on the news & in the paper. OCharleys is horrid, Panera is bad & I won't even go there with McDonalds. I'm sure right now they are plotting in the board room on a way to ruin the Covelli Centre too!!!

I really wish i could give zero stars. Covelli enterprise is a perfect example of a dictatorship organization. Especially the panera deerfield location. Managers treat the employees with zero respect and bark orders at them like they are scum. No wonder why the turnover rate at this location is how it is. Very bad way to run a business. Hopefully changes are made, but i doubt they will be.

I visited the Panera Bread Cafe #4989 in Burlingto...

I visited the Panera Bread Cafe #4989 in Burlington, NC. on Dec 2, 2018. It is a nice locations and attractive looking store. I ordered the SW Chili Chicken Salad, full size. The store was busy and I was not in a hurry, so I was okay if the order took a while. I expected my salad to be fresh and well made for the price I paid. It took nearly 30 minutes to get my order, but I was okay with that since they were busy. When I got the salad, it did not present itself very well, looked very sloppy. When I took my first bite and only bite, the lettuce was extremely soggy, very limp, like it has sat in a refrigerator overnight uncovered. There was no chicken in my salad, at least I could not find any. I was disappointed and took my salad to the register where I ordered and purchased. I explained that the salad was not good and just wanted to get my money back. The cashier explained she would have to get the manager, and I was okay with her lead. When the General Manager arrived I explained that the food in the past was always very good, but this salad was just not at their standards and very poorly make. I had other errands and just want to get my money back. The General Manger than took on an arrogant attitude and said he was not going to give me my money back. He did not any look at my salad to review. I told him I was not interested in getting another salad and to please just give me my money back. He again said, very firmly, and with a lot of arrogance, I will not give you back your money because I do not have to give a refund. He stated he might consider a voucher for future use at the store. At this time he was just rude and I told him I did not want the voucher, I simply wanted my money back. He again stated no refund and left. I apologized to the cashier and said I was not leaving until the manager did the right thing and to refund my purchase. I was not rude or belligerent, but was very stunned by the lack of customer service I was just handed. I was ignored from this point with the expectation I would just leave. The cashier was asking customer's to just come around me to place their order. Another customer approached the counter stated that the pickup window said they were out what she ordered and just wanted a refund, not interested in anything else. She was told the same and was refused a refund. Later the same General Manager told me to leave and if I did not he would call the police and have me removed! I was simply holding my position at the register wanting a refund. I was stunned and told him calmly to call the police and have them remove me. He got on the phone and called. This was all over a $11 salad. Many people in line were stunned as well. I am a professional in the market place and responsible for many employees. I have never in my life experienced a total disregard of customer service by a GM as I had that day. Companies pays a lot of money to market themselves with an image they want to portray to the public. No customer should have been ever put in my position with today's standards and it cost that store more that $11. It cost them a very loyal customer who will never return and will never have a good word to say about Panera Bread. I have submitted a dispute with my credit card and will get a refund. I submit this complaint publicly because there are a lot of hard working people that work for this company and should not have this GM represent their companies values.

Very poor experience with Panera. Price of food servings have gone up while the portion sizes have declined along with the service and quality of the food. Additionally, a person from the Niles Ohio store who I believe is a multi unit manager named Brian called me an a@@hole when I tried to express the same to him about the price/value relationship. And, I wrote directly to Covelli almost two weeks ago through their website comment section. I have not received a response. Everyone is complaining. The brand is bound to suffer long term. Sad but true. Last, my lawyer is following up on the slander complaint imposed on me by Brian.

God sees EVERYTHING and most certainly time is running out for Satan and his workers of darkness. I cannot pay back evil for evil as I ve been discriminated against and all of management down played and minimized the situation. I will leave ALL in the hands of God and most certainly let God store up his wrath against this company. Gby you all.
