Two years ago, this zoo killed a healthy 2-year-old giraffe, claiming that the young male was a surplus animal. That giraffe, named Marius, was not inbred. However, zoo officials said his genes were too common in the zoo population and thus he would be of no use for breeding. So in February 2014, a zookeeper lured Marius away from the other animals with his favorite food, a piece of rye bread. Then a veterinarian shot him in the head with a bolt gun.
This is absolutely disgusting establishment!

Unfortunately, the animals seem to have far too little space in general. One should make more use of the height of the cages. I wonder if you do not occupy the southern field. Or go down on animals and instead see that those who are left get more space. It is unbelievably expensive to eat in there. But you can spend a whole day with the family in there, and possibly. Bring a packed lunch.

The CPH Zoo should notify everyone at the entrance which animals are on display and why some are not. It is quite unsatisfactory to aim for specific sites just to find them temporarily closed without any signs and explanations.

Was a little disappointed there were not many animals out, so there were many enclosures that were empty, know well it is expensive and operate but they could well put the price down a bit, but otherwise nice :-)

Lots of baby animals this year, so clearly the animals are well taken care of. The animal feedings and demonstrations are nice (though all in Danish ofc). The animal habitats look good, but for us humans, the exhibits can be a bit lacking... Lots of empty space on the walls where there could be photos, info graphics, or other displays. Especially in the artic zone. One good exhibit that contrasts the above statement is the elephant exhibit. There are lots of details and educational things there

Copenhagen Zoo is a really great zoo. They have all kinds of awesome animals and they also had a sand sculpture competition going on while we were there which was really cool, they looked incredible. Overall I would definitely go there again. Also if you have a copenhagen card (which I highly recommend) you can get in for free.

Long since I last went to the ZOO, and high praise.
It was easy to get around, with one exception, as the path past the bears ends in a staircase, which cannot be forced by wheelchairs, carts, etc.
The exhibit at the Elephants may really need a vacuum cleaner. It is covered with a thick layer of dust, probably from the elephants themselves.
Otherwise a really good experience.

There never seem to be too many people, and it's nice and tidy. You got a decent view of all the animals and both of the newer in closures for the polar bears and the elephants are big and there are many viewing spots

Ok

Always a nice place to spend a few hours.

Always a nice place to spend a few hours.
Just can't understand why 2pcs Pandas should have such a large area when you rarely see them let alone move. The space could well have been used differently so other animals could have been given more space.

Find a way to take up an afternoon in Copenhagen hi. Typical Zoo some exhibits are really cool some look a little rundown. Admissions included with the Copenhagen card if you're using it.

I LOVE the Copenhagen Zoo

I LOVE the Copenhagen Zoo
But it is an expensive pleasure. However, it can be made a lot more economical if you bring and drink with yourself.

This zoo is amazing. Lots of unique animals I've not seen in other zoos. Most of the animals were very active so they were easy to spot. Check it out if you're in Copenhagen. It's walking distance from the city (2-3 miles).

Amazing place to spend some time, especially with the kids. You will see a lot of different exotic animals there, such as flamingos(saw for the first time in my life, so beautiful creatures), baboon, lions, panda and many others. Unfortunately, we didn't see the panda close enough, because it was sleeping (in very funny position:')). Inside there are also some bars, so can have a snack.

Unfortunately, could not visit the zoo, because no dogs are allowed. I can not be good now. I hate such acceptance !! If the dog does not behave, one can still be referred to the zoo. Too bad I did not have a noisy screaming kid instead of the quiet dog. I would be interested in what they would have preferred. But since the zoo apparently should be very good there are still 3 stars.

If you breed an animal, Have Babies, Name them, Feed & look after them for 2 years to then cull in front of Children and feed to the Lions... YOU ARE WRONG, THIS IS BOTH SICK, WRONG & DISGUSTING And you should be taken to court for Animal Cruelty.
If you know when a baby is born that you will have too many of that animal then allow the animal to stay with Mum for as long as is needed then seperate them and send them to another Zoo or to a scheme that would allow and teach that baby (and any others) to live in the wild..
I cannot quite believe that you would Cull a 2 year old giraffe in front of a group of Children and feed it to your Lions?. Why would you do that??
I would NEVER come to your Zoo. You are Vile and mistreat your animals, For that you should be punished.
Peder Mellor Your Review is wrong. The Zoo admitted to Culling the giraffe as they were over populated.

Lovely place. Lovely the animal keepers take the time to answer questions about the animals.

Food and drink prices are very very high and there are often queues .. My advice is to bring a packed lunch

The Arctic Circle housing polar bears is architecturally very modern and beautiful. Visitors gets to follow the polar bears around. Likewise the elephant enclosure. Currently the African savanna area is under construction.

With all the big names in the animal kingdom present, the Copenhagen Zoo is an incredible ride for the whole family. Watch the exciting daily food and climb to the top of a panoramic observation tower in the center of the zoo. Although the animals live in modern cages, many of the original structures have been maintained, making it clear that you are in one of the oldest zoos in Europe.
