Very fun day with the kids. Lots of excitement and learning prices are a little steep and they charge extra for little things that should come in the initial price. The butterfly room is extra 6 bucks the movie extra 5 bucks the store is very pricey and kinda way over priced but if you can find a coupon its better (obviously) but for a nice day out it's a great time. Woulda got 5 stars if the prices were included for the other things through out the day.
First off; there is definitely plenty to do, six floors of exhibits!! With two adults and two younger kids though (4 and 6 years) I wouldn't say it was worth the $100+ . We did pay extra for the butterfly exhibit and it was a little disappointing. Unless your absolutely crazy about butterflies I would probably skip this. It's a very small butterfly house with very few butterflies (when we were there). Perhaps it was the wrong time of year? There is definitely a ton of exhibits and things to do but I think younger kids easily get overwhelmed, perhaps because everything is mixed in together? Older and younger kids stuff it's hard to find things and focus. Within a couple of floors the kids were "bored" and wanted ice cream. For me there was definitely a lot more I wanted to take-in and I would have loved to stay longer; but with the amount of "content" I think younger kids easily get overwhelmed/bored. In my honest opinion; definitely a great place for older kids with an interest in STEM.
Has Great time ...15 kids running all around Birthday Place to be
Fun place to visit with children and has a lot of hands on activities.
We always have such a fun filled day of learning and exciting experiences at the CT Science Center.
Excellent place for kids to have fun and learn while doing it.
Took the kids here and we learned a great deal today and it was awesome. All of us had a blast and will be touring more of our nation museums very soon.
I went with my children. It was a fun way to understand science principles and applications through a variety of hands-on activities, including space, earth and land, brain and body, air and water, music and sound, robots and machines, and rockets. The children had a great time.
We had a great time. There s so much to explore around and learn.
Wonderful place to bring children to explore and learn all kinds of things
First time at Science Center will surely not be my last. The occasion was my grdson"s 4th birthday celebration and did we the very attentive staff and facilitators
This place is amazing. Even the toddler had a great time. Loved all the attractions, especially digging for dinosaurs bones and the ambulance plat area.
One of the better museums, but like the Montreal Science Center, it wastes a lot of space. The Extreme Dinosaurs exhibit (Traveling for 2015) is great. There are other exhibits which are also good fun. In the ecosystem exhibit you can create your own weather broadcast and send it to your self (our storm warning one erupted in to a tornado dance party) via email. It's a great museum though and if your thinking of going, go. It's worth it!
Amazing place for kids. I also became one while I was there!!!
so much to do and lots to learn! great for a family trip especially with little ones!
The Connecticut Science Center is an incredible and engaging museum to say the least; our child was engaged virtually from beginning to end -- with just a 20 minute lapse or so -- during the 4 1/2 hours that we visited. The museum is not overly fraught with exhibits: Rather it balances just the right amount of hands-on interactive, visual, and audio experiences that keep boredom and fatigue at bay.
The museum also excels at the way it presents modern science with historical science. For a child to be as interested and inquisitive about the Leonardo da Vinci exhibit as our child, given his age, was awe inspiring for me explaining and teaching fundamental physics and mechanics; worm gears, sprockets, etc. tied our question-answer dialogue back to the kid's appreciation for Lego's, bicycles, helicopters.
We finished with the waterplay exhibit where people get to interact with whirlpools, water trajectories, and other activities in context of fluid dynamics.
This is one of my family's favorite places. So much to do and see and interact with and learn. A very fun place. Well worth a membership.
Awesome science center for all ages. Loved the butterfly exhibit
It wuz a great experience!!! Science is awesome how we have been able to deliver such great preserved bodies (real bodies) from the exterior anatomy skin and such to the viens and nerveous system absolutely blew my mind!!! Would suggest anyone and everyone from young to old to attend such a great learning experience!!!!
I love this place it's fun for all ages!!! If you want to escape reality the science center is the place to do it. As soon as you walk in the door you will be in aw. The best part is, its reasonably priced.
Just terrific, big, science center covering all sorts of areas in really interesting ways. Nearly entirely hands on. And a couple films . Would take several visits to cover it all without burnout. Truly recommend it for adults with small children up to about 12/15.
Small, super expensive at $66 for two adults. Aimed at elementary school kids, everything is super simplified. Butterfly exhibit cost $6 extra per person, and there were hardly any butterflies in a super small room. Overall? Meh. Froyoworld was decent.
Wonderful place to explore with the whole family. Lots things to do, almost all of which are hands on.
Educational and Fun. Learn about history, science and nature. Rotating exhibits make each trip special as well.
Dont go here u less you like to breathe styrofoam dust. Workers on the 4th or should I say 2nd floor since there are only 3 floors of exhibits were cutting styrofoam with no vacuum or air scrubbers. The dust is everywhere on the 4th floor and thanks to the HVAC likely everywhere else. Another money pit and now a health hazard. Stay away especially with small children
Grandson and I went to see the Bodies Revealed exhibit. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. He's 11 and the Science Center is just such a great place to explore and experience. There's something for all ages to enjoy!
Had a wonderful family day at the museum. Such a great place..we watched the Amazon show it was fabulous.
We went for my son's 7th birthday and had a blast. Very interactive and engaging for people of all ages. But the gift shop carried Himalayan Salt Lamps, which seemed a little off message...
Anything that has to do with Science, I Just Love It..
Great place for kids. Adults can also take out the kid you have inside. Really don't know how enjoyed more, my kid or miself.
Awesome interesting place wish they had longer weekend hours
Great place for kids. Lots of engaging, interactive exhibits.
Crowded but it was a school holiday. Grandkids had a good time.
Something there for all ages, exhibits are always changing. One wish - wish nao robot (or another robot, whatever) would be programmable - not just mechanical. If one was, I missed it. I love that this place is all about getting people excited about science! Also great birthday parties!
It is engaging for both kids and adults. From water fun, to Legos, to making your own weather report in front of a green screen; there is something fun for everyone.
Huge place with lots of fun stuff to do if you have kids and also a fun place to quick out by yourself
Great place to spend the day! Take your time and enjoy.!
This place is amazing! Great for kids with lots of hands on and interactive exhibits. Rotating shows, movies, and exhibits every year so there is always something new. The membership here is a steal; offering reciprocity at multiple museums, zoos, and aquariums and a significantly discounted parking rate. Cannot recommend enough for a fun family day.
My daughter loved it. Wish there was more to this place tho. My daughter loved it tho so I know if it was up to her 5....me as the mom... 3
A lot of the interaction they're not working was extremely hot and the staff was boring plus a Halloween promo with no candy for the kids at all
Great place to bring the kids to give them lots to do. Honestly I expected more but was not totally disappointed either. There are plenty of exhibits displaying some important principles of science and engineering but if your children have questions the explanations on the displays are a bit lacking. There are plenty of things to do and keep the entire family occupied and engaged so you won't get bored. I was here over Christmas break and there were lots of families that were here just to get out of the house so it was a lot crazy with long lines for food, screaming kids, and a little bad behavior tossed in. Except for people touching things where there were signs clearly posted to not touch things the people weren't that bad. On site food includes Subway, and Frozen yogurt both by the gift shop. The gift shop appeared to have a wide range of educational and fun items along with a few Hartford items.
My only real gripe with this place is the parking, you have to pay when you exit and it is in a ramp garage. There are a lot of things that could be done to streamline the process, pay for parking with museum admission, pay via EZPass (they have the equipment for this), really anything but having people collecting cash and making change would be a lot faster than het they are doing.
What a great place to take the kids for a day. There's something to do for every age. The place is clean and there are so many hands on learning activities to engage young and old alike.
Lots of thing for kids and grown ups.... My son loves the water part they have there
I took my 16 year old grandson this morning. We paid $30.50 at 11:20 am and we were out of there within 15 minutes if that. This is not for this age group at all. Nothing there even interested him and he is into science and technology. I feel I just gave a donation the theConnecticut Science Center. I would not recommend this for any young adult from 14 - 17. Nothing of interest. Just a bunch of kids running around. Never again.
Save your money. A good amount of things to do were out of service and it's more empty space than things to do. Also we weren't informed about the theater being closed. Overall disappointing.
Awesome place for kids to learn and have fun , we spent the entire day there and we couldn t get bored . The staff are great and helpful.
Bodies exhibit was beautifully done. The kids love going here, I highly recommend their annual pass! With the annual pass parking is only $5 in the garage!
Fun great day time activity very kid friendly, I dont know if it always has as many children there as they do but there were many things my group was unable to do based purely on the amount of children running amok. The staff is helpful enough but doesn't do anything proactive they wait for you to tell them something is wrong instead of looking for it themselves. All in all fun time and lots of things around after you are done there.
My daughter socialized with children of different nationalities, is an educational place at any age and a great deal of security for the whole family
There were far to many of the interactive exhibits in non working condition to rate any higher than 3 stars. Too often my children sat down to experience a certain exhibit and found it broken. This really kills the enthusiasm for the kids. As the parent it's also tough to swallow the idea that 100 million dollars in tax payer money (source Wikipedia) went into a building that I now have to spend 80 dollars to enter. They need to keep up each exhibit and make it a world class experience. The potential is there but it's underutilized. I'd like to see the revenue reinvested in improvements across the facility.
Always a fun place to go. I go with my daughter and she is a teenager now and still loves it. The gift shop has a lot of stuff even moon cheese and flavored crickets.
You seriously need a membership to truly enjoy your experience at Connecticut Science Center. I go at least 2 weekends a month with my 4 year old and 11 year old girls and we always have fun. It s a great pace to get out of the summer heat or go to when it s cold and boring. Highly recommend the amazing staff at the froyo shop, sweet, kind and helpful.
W o w! My first time there and me and my family had a great time there.
The place is good for kids who want to explore different aspects of science through games and exhibits. Not so interesting for adults though.
Very fun and educational. Brought my kids (1 and 4) and they LOVED it. Plenty to do on a rainy day
This was my first time here with my family. And though it was expensive I definitely recommend buying the membership. My son (8) and my daughter (2) absolutely loved it! We spent a good 3-4 hours here. I do recommend bribing snacks or packing a lunch. Good can get a little expensive but they have a place to sit and eat we will definitely be back
Great exhibit- The Body. Plus butterflys and a rooftop garden.
My daughter loves it. We got exhausted with the stairs though.
