Compton's Pancake House Review

Compton's has the best breakfast special in town. You can't beat the triple play. I should also mention their pancakes...wonderful.

A great find! Parking is a little tight, but it s worth it! Our waitress was a pleasure! Food delicious...we will definitely visit next time we are in the area!

Always the go-to for good food at a good price. Waitresses are always friendly and engaging but they're not your typical copy & paste waitresses, they have personalities and attitudes that shine when serving you.. Been here plenty of times and I'll keep coming back!

This place has awesome food, awesome service and great prices. The parking is a pain, but don't let that deter you from getting breakfast here. They have pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon anything you would expect from a diner. Their coffee is good, and bottomless, you can get fruit on your waffles or pancakes, it's just great.

Hostess is a ridiculous, miserable, rude, disgusting person. She clearly hates her life. I still eat here frequently because the food and the wait staff are AMAZING! If they would just get rid of that wench up front...i would give 5 stars

Lived here in Stroud for a year and have been hunting for a replacement diner/breakfast nook since I moved and I think I've finally found my new regular spot! Food was hot, fairly priced for the proportions. Seated quickly and attentive waitress.

Great experience. Great food. Great customer service! Their credit card machine was broken. It wasnt as easy to pay with cash, but it doesnt look like that's a regular occurence. So, no points docked there.

If you are looking for a nice filling breakfast, Compton s is it. This is my second time here the waitress are helpful . The restaurant is welcoming and the food is taste . The pancakes are delicious. My kids love it and so do I .

If you like McDonald's, and want to pay more, come here. Mediocre pancakes, cheap meat, small portions, bad atmosphere. They must spend the bulk of their budget on advertising instead of ingredients. Incidentally, they were playing a Maroon 5 album... Don't waste your money.

Absolutely the best place for breakfast! Great prices, huge portions and such good home cooked meals! The manager was super cool- we bought a t-shirt "Peace Love Pancakes" . Potatoes pancakes are yummy, great omlettes!

On vacation in the Poconos and found this gem for breakfast. We ve gone twice in two days and both times the food, the service and the atmosphere have been five star. We ve had waffles, pancakes, traditional bacon and eggs, and even a vegetarian omelette and nothing was disappointing. My kids asked for chocolate milk with whipped cream, and our server made it happen. Great experience.

Arrived after diving 2 hours to the area with 2 kids. Hostess was absolutely disgusting. I walk in with my three year old and ten month old and ask about the wait. She says - don't know. Could be an hour could be less- first of All what kind of answer is that???
After a few minutes our friends arrived who have s six month old and we were discussing whether of not to wait. Hostess says to my husband- SO ARE YOU STAYING OR NOT??? heck no I'm not with your nasty attitude. I'll take my money elsewhere. And they call us New Yorkers rude. This woman deserved a slap treating potential customers that way. Someone should read her the guarantee posted on the restaurants website.

We went here while visiting a ski resort in the Poconos. It's about 10 minutes from the resorts. While this place appears small from the outside and is located off the main road, inside is very pretty and rustic looking. They have the BEST pancakes I have ever had in my life. They were stuffed with cheesecake and had strawberry topping with whipped cream. It was family friendly, had ample seating, a large menu, and the service was fantastic. Our family loved it so much we left the ski resort to go back again the next day. Their prices were reasonable too. We will be back again during our next visit to the Poconos.

Update...

We went back again In June and my children were very tired and cranky. The staff was amazing and kept their sense of humor. The food was still just as amazing!

Weekdays, are better than weekends. I've been to this establishment twice, one during the week and the other time on the weekend. Sadly, it was two different experiences. My weekday visit featured fast friendly service, a clean dining table, and hot fresh food, at fair price. A few weeks later, because of the positive weekday experience, we went back on the weekend. Perhaps it was because they were busy or short staffed, but the table dirty, the food was stale, and of the link sausages tasted a little off like they had seen a few too many hours on the griddle. The service was fast, the staff was helpful. I might give them another try (on the weekday), anybody can have an off day, and they deservse a second chance.

Horrible..went there today, party of five, was given a pager to wait and told upto 30 min wait. Waited in the car, 30 mins later pager did not go off. Waited a few additional minutes. Went back inside and informed they were closed and could not serve us. The female who stated she is the owner/manager stated this (closed, could not serve us) and also she would handle it, whatever that meant. She could care less that we waited and received no service. Yes, I attempted to support a small business and was treated horribly, the owner could care less. Off to Perkins we went and received great service. Never again Comptons, you should be ashamed. Question...If you are the owner/manager and demonstrate poor customer service shouldn't you Fire Yourself...

The food was pretty good and at a good price. However, the waitresses were arguing while we were there and it is not a big restaurant and was a little packed so I'm sure several customers could hear.

Quick and good service. Food well prepared. Server was very nice. This was my experience. Not all will be the same. I enjoyed my visit. I'd go back.

From out of town and found this place online a while back. What a treat! The service was amazing!!! Our waitress was so nice and got us our food quickly.

Then the food; wow the food was good. This was two years ago, but I remember getting a waffle and some bacon. My friend got the same or something similar. We were both beyond pleased.

The host is rude & its embarrassing. I love coming here, but sometimes she s not in the mood & it shows! I tried placing an order with her before & what a nightmare. Otherwise, Good American breakfast and the waitresses are pleasant.

this is to the owner of Compton's.. i have been running a highly successful restaurant for years now in the area,, I also do reviews for a local paper on various places of business. i will be stopping in your place today but you will not know or see this till after the fact.

Fro what i have read and learned so far is that Comps could be a diamond in the ruff or be thrown away due to you and your hostess (your wife i believe)..

No ! place or staff are perfect, but all you do is make up excuses and defend your wife,, as a customer i would be more willing to give you a second chance if you were to say something like "" Sir, i am sorry we are have a busy ruff day and some mistakes have been made, but i can assure you this is not our normal and our staff will be talked too and if need be further training or replacement "" and also i didnt see once were you offered a discount to really upset customers to have them come back..customers are what pay your bills, you want to gain them and then keep them starting with word of mouth then the eating experience.

just a thought,, its ok to be wrong and have a bad day,,,,just not every day

One of our all-time favorite breakfast spots, it's one of the hardest things to leave behind in the move. Best value is the double triple play, but the cheesecake and chocolate chip pancakes, Compton's famous and garden stuffed omelettes are all also faves. Don't hesitate. You'll love it!

Great spot for an old fashioned diner breakfast! Every time we make it to Stroudsburg, this is a standard. Portions are huge and the selection is great. Everything tastes fresh and homemade!

Ordered to go, toast was missing, coffee wasnt hot and tasted watery, scrambled eggs were thrown all over inside the container to go, waitress was rushing!

People visiting don't stop here unless you like rude service! Let me just say, I'm from Stroudsburg and comptons "was" the place for breakfast! I visit home quit often and actually stay in the hotel next to it when I visit. I call to place an order and the first thing they say is "you know you can order online right?!" That should of been the first hint to hang up, well I didn't! I continued to order food. Well they didn't put the mushroom in the omelette I ordered and I said no tomato on my turkey melt that they put in. And for 7.25 for three tiny chocolate chip pancakes is honestly outrages. I'm a server and a breakfast server at that their attitude is outrages and their food I'll never order again. And they were conviently out of knives. So try cutting pancakes and omelette with forks! Maybe they need more people from PA and who are from Stroudsburg originally to help the business with attitude problems !

Nice employees but poor quality food. Pancakes taste like they were made with funfetti cake mix.

We ate here for the first time this morning. The waitress was amazing. She recommended that I have the french toast which was delicious. We also had the big breakfast which was spot on. The only reason for not 5 stars is the terrible rap type music they had playing. I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try just talk loud or bring ear plugs.

I have tried this place three times , every time we went instead of welcoming us they were just so annoyed that we bothered them. Seriously? Do they realize how many great breakfast places there are in town.! I ve been coming to Stroudsburg every summer for many years and always wanted try Compton s For Pancakes but the third time was the last straw. Nasty , nasty people in there. We just looked at each other and scratched our heads.
If you are too busy there you should hire more help. I have never ever been so rudely treated!!
Such a shame. Does the owner condone such attitudes from his staff?? I think they must just have their favorite customers.
