worth the trip. and don't forego the bread pudding.
Exquisite food and lovely service. Even on a busy day, Commander's Palace lived up to it's reputation for excellence. The food was prepared with an eye to flavor and presentation. Rich and still delicate enough that the unique dish shone through. I highly recommend Commander's Palace as a dining experience and a cultural, New Orleans, touch stone.
WHY? WHY? WHY?
Would somebody at Google please tell me why I can't give more than five stars?
Just like everything you heard. Impeccable service, great food, beautiful atmosphere.
Absolutely wonderful service. Everyone was friendly , professional and very helpful. The staff here make it an unforgettable experience. The food was delicious, especially the duck and strawberry shortcake desert. Happy we came here!
food was great. Must try turtle soup! The attentiveness of the staff was very very good.
Underwhelming disappointment. Had to send bluefin entree back. I was served a gristle filled tail section - inedible and tough as a wet flip flop. The much hyped bread pudding souffle should be sent all the way back to 1986. Service however was excellent.
I just don't get it. Traveling with friends and booked here based on recommendations and write ups. I enjoy a great experience and good food. Our experience provided neither. I wish I could say that they just had a off night but I don't think so. We will not go back. The salad and dessert were really good. Everything in between was average at best and considering the $400 bill at the end I would have been more satisfied at any chain restaurant and walked away for less than $100.
Excellent Service and Food was well prepared. One of the best in New Orleans.
This place lives up to the hype! Old school Southern dining. Got calls and emails to confirm our reservation, and everyone was very friendly. Definitely ask your server for a tour of the building! It was a lot bigger than I thought it would be. 7 dining rooms (we were seated in the garden room)! Being able to see the kitchen was cool. Too bad it was late and they had already closed the wine cellar, it's supposed to be impressive.
Excellent, as usual. Had turtle soup, stuffed quail and bread pudding souffle. Service was impeccable. Outstanding experience.
Slightly dissapointed by the food...gumbo was sour...nothing impressed me besides the staff's egos
Great atmosphere, delicious food, awesome service!
The staff is wonderful. I suggest the quail and bread pudding. make a reservation.
Genuinely amazing - truly the finest New Orleans has to offer. Every detail is perfected, the wait staff is gracious, the decor is lovely. I've never had a bad cocktail or dish here. The garlic bread is probably one of their underrated and best kept secrets. I hardly ever hear folks talk about it, but it's somehow done better than any other garlic bread on earth? Weekend jazz brunches are the time to go, but I'm partial to weekday lunch. They feature really stellar deals on cocktails. Make sure to dress up! Remember, you're in the South, you can never be too well dressed!
An amazing outdoor meal that was simply spectacular
Fantastic food but we felt a little rushed as though we weren't welcome to relax and enjoy the experience.
I usually write funny or odd ball things about the name of a business, but the food and the service was great. Argyle, Jimmy and Billy are/werebmagnificent. Had a great experience.
Nice experience just not the level of food and service I was expecting after hearing local hype.
I always give Commanders five stars but not this time. Service was just ok. Not up to their normal excellent standards. desserts took at least 15 minutes and had to ask for more coffee and water.
We just finished an incredible meal of shrimp gumbo and garlic bread. It was delivered via Goldbelly to the Adirondack mountains of New York. Thank you for a wonderful treat.
Four of us ate at Commander's Palace on Oct. 31, 2019. All four of us had dined here multiple times. My wife was so much looking forward to the turtle soup and bread pudding. My wife an I had the turtle soup and both of us very very disappointed because it was very, very salty. All entrees, including the pecan crusted gulf fish, were excellent. The bread pudding didn't disappoint. The noise level was awful - so bad that it was hard to hear people at the same table. Probably somewhat our fault in that we had forgotten it was Halloween.
Unfortunately we didn't have the appetite to take on the full chef's tasting menu, which looked like the best choice. We ordered a few a la carte menu items, though, and were very impressed with them. The foie gras with baklava and minted honeycomb was spectacular. The turtle soup was very good and the softshell crab even better. The creole souffle was interesting and the cocktails were spot on. The service was outstanding; they clearly have their operations down to a science. We can't wait to return with bigger appetites!
The service here is unparalleled and the food was incredible. They are very happy to accommodate allergies and want to make your dining experience memorable! Definitely the priciest option in New Orleans but you get the quality you pay for and they will not disappoint for a special night out.
I came here for lunch on my birthday and was very pleased with the service and quality of food! The team of servers that worked with us were superb and covered every last detail of fantastic customer service. The $0.25 martinis were great and the food was absolutely delicious! I tried the 1-1-1 appetizer of soups (turtle, shrimp tomato bisque, and country gumbo), the BBQ shrimp and grits, and the bread pudding for dessert. Definitely worth a visit for any special occasion!
Treated to a birthday lunch by a friend... excellent cuisine and attentive staff
Outstanding service and food, literally one of the best dining experiences in the entire country. It's legend for a reason.
Great food and service....
Desserts fabulous....especially Bread pudding
An exquisite dining experience! Excellent service! Elegant atmosphere!
Wonderful lunch with attentive staff!
How can you not like 25 cent martinis.
Amazing service and fantastic food. If only going once on a trip to New Orleans, I highly recommend the 6 course wine pairing meal. It was incredible. A bit pricey but well worth it for a special occasion.
Over the top service and food was beyond expectations!!
The best of everything. Food. Service. And the room we were in is fantastic. All glass enclosed view. Loved our experience.
Great food, service and atmosphere. We will be coming back.
Simply the finest dinning experience has to offer. Old school southern charm and service. Every bite rememberable.
Great food, great service and atmosphere. The ice cream is to die for. The fish was cooked to perfection. It was a bit noisy, but that's what happens when you're popular.
Exceptional food and service. Highly recommend the turtle soup.
Outstanding service and great food. Ask for view of courtyard
Brunch was great, good food, good music , good experiences.
As always, absolutely magnificant! Great service. Fabulous surroundings. Phenomenal food. Do yourself a solid and just go already.
We have been to Commanders several times and always enjoy it. The food is excellent as is the service. Everyone has a friendly smile and greeting for you. Today we had an infant in tow and everyone stopped at our table to admire and comment on him. I can highly recommend this restaurant for food and ambiance and the experience of fine dining.
It was everything I called and ask for. Made my woman feel on top of the world. Then the food was excellent. They took care of everything with out us asking plus more. Thanks everybody who waited on us.
Just awesome! The food and service was amazing. I will be dreaming about that Bread Pudding Souffle'.
The pictures say it all.
P.S. They do have a dress code.
As ALWAYS, A New Orleans staple of service, elegance and class. Amazing food as well, 0.25 Martini's for Lunch, it's a no brainier.
An amazing culinary experience one needs to experience at least once in your life. The best service I've ever seen. The food is just delicious.
Dirty place: floor, ceiling and decore hasn't been dusted in ages .. disgusting carpet with so many stains they stopped vacuuming it .. pretending to be fancy by requiring dress code then your waitress should not sneeze in her hand the touch stuff - atmosphere is 1/10 and they should be visited by health department .. any other NOLA place has same or better food at less pretentious dinning room .. this place needs new owners or new manager .. no excuse for dust and dirt and filthy carpets just horrible
Wife wanted to try it so I couldn't leave pretended to be ok but really wasn't happy after dinner she told me she noticed how dirty it was as well and this will be a never again place for us
Amazing experience and service...from the Foie Gras, Quail, and Gumbo to the Lamb Belly and Filet...everything was phenomenal.
I tried the food and it was crap. The servers were trained to smile and persuade you to buy more food. But maybe it was just not my best day to go out. You will have to taste for yourself. :(
If you are in New Orleans this place is a must visit. Every time I have went here the food has been fantastic. Other than the great turtle soup they have, I have always had something different from the menu and it has never disappointed. The decor and service are simply spectacular. You certainly will not be let down by this New Orleans institution.
Pricey but the food is fantastic and so is the service! Highly recommended
The food is always good. Service is Excellent. Does not get better than this!!
I have never had better dining experience. I wish we were seated upstairs but it was fine. The food was amazing. The service was perfect. Just a great night out with friends.
I am so happy to finally get the chance to dine at this amazing place. The food and service were impeccable. I was especially happy to be there on a weekday for the .25 martinis! The turtle soup is a must, the desserts are a do-not-miss, and everything else in between is fabulous. I don't think you could go wrong here.
Among the top restaurants in New Orleans. All the standard favorite dishes of Southern cuisine. But rather than joining the dinner crowd, we recommend BRUNCH on a warm day in the outdoor garden. In that case, we can safely say that children (who are well-behaved) are actually welcome. There was even live music last time we did this, and a goldfish basin, which made it rather charming for us all. In order to get to the outdoor seating, one has to walk through the kitchen, which is neat.
Very disappointing! Horrible service and the food was sub par. This was supposed to be the highlight of our vacation so just bummed out.
Samantha is very attentive, the entire staff treats you like royalty!
This place needs no introduction. Go and experience it for yourself. We chose the tasting menu and it did NOT disappoint. This place is truly fabulous.
We dined at Commander's Palace to celebrate my husband's milestone birthday. From the front desk to servers, all greeted him with a happy birthday, colorful balloons at the table and during the dessert serving a special hat for him.
If you have a special occasion, I recommend this historic restaurant.
Very upscale but also very casual..staff was excellent foos was very delicious..a great time woth friends and a chance to dress well
I ate lunch yesterday at Commander's Palace hoping for a wonderful New Orleans dining experience. It was a sad experience, especially when I was not finished eating and Edward (server 13)asked if I was going to lick my plate.could he have been any rudder and inappropriate It took us asking for bread four times till we finally received some from. Ryan the bus boy. Thank god for him. maybe for cigarette breaks you should use breath mints after and keep frebreze on hand.
Great food,. Well trained staff. A fun happy special feel.
This place gets a lot of hype. The staff was friendly, the food was good and the physical setting was ok, but it is more hype than reality. It is out of the way. There are so many interesting restaurants that this doe not need to be on your bucket list.
Simply wonderful. Great food, fantastic service. A must do, on any visit to New Orleans.
