Based on the reviews my wife and I had very high expectations for this restaurant, but after spending $200 I wish I would ve dined somewhere else. Was escorted through the main dining room which seemed very pleasant, but then was taken upstairs where the atmosphere was lacking. We expected a more intimate setting but were presented with cafeteria like noise levels.
Dress code stated jackets are required for men but noticed half the men were wearing jeans with no jacket.
Waitress was inattentive.
Meal was good but not great. Wanted to order the 3 course meal but was unable to get the bananas foster - even though it was included on the full dessert menu??
Overall- we were not impressed and highly recommend Arnaud s instead.

Good service and good cajun food at a reasonable price in a historic restaurant in the city and in the USA.
Cocktails are served at 30 cents ... I think I remember. Maximum three. Essential men's shirt.

Wonderful meal and great desserts. We were coming in from way out of town for a special ocassion, and they made a special presentation to my niece and everyone congratulated her. A very friendly place. Expensive, but you know that gping in.

The dress code is ridiculous. It s summer, and NOLA is obviously a tourism city. Who would bring suits here to enjoy the summer vacation? If no T-shirt, no shorts, no jeans, why don t you directly say no tourists?!

Had a wonderful experience. Most importantly, the experience for everyone dining with me (10 others), OUTSTANDING!! Everyone was pleased and I'm amazed at how wonderful an experience some of these folks had, having never been to New Orleans. Thank you to Commander's staff for making this an amazing first impression. MILES, you are the man!!!

Had another great meal, it was our 25 wedding anniversary and they did everything they could to make that special. Commanders is always perfect every time we have gone. Great food and excellent service with reasonable prices.

I saved up for several months to be able to bring my partner here for his birthday. Having a nice dinner out is not something we can do very often. I called and got a reservation at the last minute on a Thursday night, and they ended up seating us in the garden room at the windows upstairs. Every rumor you've heard about this place is true! We were treated like family but also like some kind of royalty. (I found out later that we knew one of the chefs so that may be partially why they gave us some extra VIP treatment)

Our experience there for dinner was nothing short of magical and was so special I know we'll remember it for years to come. We are both lifelong service industry so we have a unique appreciation for how challenging, taxing, and fast-paced that fine dining work is - even though they make it look easy. Everyone, from the front door to the kitchen, all had the highest levels of professionalism, warmth, and care. The food was lovely and all of the special plates from the chef were deeply appreciated by both of us. They brought us a huge dessert spread and even a birthday candle in his souffle! We stayed so long we nearly closed the place down but nobody made us feel like we overstayed our welcome.

My partner said his experience there made him feel, "like no other place in the city ever has." Thank you, Commanders, for our unforgettable night!

Absolutely stunning food. I'm not a typical seafood lover but I was wrong, it is all about how it is prepared and sourced from because commanders is amazing. I didn't have a single thing that was delicious. Can't wait to come back on my next trip.

This place was phenomenal. The costumer service was impeccable and I felt highly respected and taken care of. Miles was fantastic as our head waiter. A must visit experience for anyone visiting New Orleans.

Apprently a Nola must but a little overpriced and run down. Had an overpriced brunch in a classic room that was cheapened by balloons ( not a 5 year olds birthday). The free garlic bread was the best part. I would try again but for dinner. Service was top shelf but the brunch was average.

A really great experience all in all. It loses a star because the food for us was very salty. We sent 2 steak entrees back because of this and the chef soaringly agreed with us. It was delay with appropriately and new dishes were brought out promptly. The other food was really good and the service and wine list is exceptional. The restaurant itself is very nice. Dress smart and enjoy the experience.

Came here out of town to celebrate our 2 year anniversary. The service was outstanding, really nice atmosphere, the dress code was a nice touch, the food was worth the price. I got the fillet mignon, commanders salad.. my bf got the pork chop with the triple soup. We got the shrimp appetizer. They bring you complimentary French bread with this fluffy butter. Highly recommend, you will not be disappointed!

With the best service I've ever experienced, in one of the best restaurants in the country, I really felt the southern hospitality from the second I walked in the door, until the moment I left. That was a couple of weeks now and I am still thinking about that lunch. Such a fantastic experience!

Wonderful food and the best customer service around!

The restaurant accommodated my 6 year old daughter's specifications for lunch entree (fried chicken and thin french fries piled high). Several servers that passed by gave her a balloon, a chef's hat, tickled her and they even made her freshly squeezed lemonade (with extra simple syrup on the side).

The free valet parking was a nice treat in the rainy weather.

A New Orleans icon. Their turtle soup is awesome. The service is unmatched. Great views overlooking the gardens from upstairs. If you have the opportunity to eat here, you don't want to pass it up!

Our expectations for our evening at Commander's Palace were high because this restaurant is on everyone's list of not to be missed. We were not disappointed. From our greeting at the door and our walk through the immaculate kitchen to our table that looked out onto a open air patio, everything was perfect. The attention to detail, the food, the wait staff's timing, and the wine list did not disappoint. We highly recommend this dining experience and will definitely make a return visit soon.

Kisha and Rebecca were great servers and had excellent recommendations. The oyster appetizer was really fresh and delicious. The bread pudding souffle is a must. Some of the best hospitality I've had at a restaurant!

This place is 5 star all the way. We came for a 2 day trip to New Orleans and this was one of the places I came to the city. I have heard about this place years ago while watching Emeril back in the 1990s. One of the best meals of my life and an amazing time all around.

Great service and great desserts. Unfortunately we all felt like the high cost wasn't justified for the main course and entree. Scratched off list if places to try, but won't be coming back.

WOW, what can I say about Commanders Palace. Top notch service and absolutely delicious food. The turtle soup, seafood gumbo and salad were a great way to start off our lunch. The quail and the glaze on the quail was out of this world! One of my friends got the duck, which was supple and also had a delicious glaze. The steak was one of the best steaks I have ever had. The bread pudding is a must along with the parfait and apple spice cake. But the best part of all, 25 cent martinis ( limit 3) ! Everything was wonderful and really me and my friends trip to New Orleans memorable. Thank you!

This is the quintessential New Orleans restaurant. Highly recommend the Sunday jazz brunch on the outdoor patio. They have a great brunch three course menu. Ya gotta try the turtle soup especially if you haven't had before. It's topped off with a few dashes of sherry. And if you do nothing else, partake in the strawberry shortcake. By far the best that I've ever had. It have me tingles. And also check out the outdoor garden next door which is part of the bed and breakfast next door.

Just OK executed and uninspired menu.My foie gras was overcooked (never a good sign). Service started from overwhelming attention upon entrance to absence of it at the time we sat down. Totally tourist trap. Don't get what's a big deal about this place.

Impossibly noisy. A very uncomfortable meal, which was a shame because the food was good. I will never return. Restaurants should serve a good experience, not just a good meal. This was terrible. Remove half the tables. Put in some sound deadening devices. Or go out of business.

What can we say! The experience was amazing! They had issues with the computer system so our food took longer than they expected. But the made up for it in many ways. The food was delicious and great drinks made the wait much easier. I will be making it a destination every time I am back in New Orleans!

The service is top notch. But the food was just ok. I guess in general I m not impressed by creole cooking. But it s a great place to celebrate bdays and such plus the price is surprisingly reasonable.

Beautiful View...Delicious food!

Beautiful View...Delicious food!
I walked in with my boyfriend right as they opened for the lunch service....without a reservation on a Friday. We were instantly seated in the beautiful "Tree house" dining room. (I think it's called the Garden room or something similar, but nick-named tree house because you feel like you are dinning in the trees).

The service was absolutely amazing as you get an entire team that assists you throughout the meal. The dining room filled up quickly, but I felt like there was always someone right there, ready to being us our next course or making sure our drinks were full.

We both ordered the turtle soup...and LOVED it. I've never had turtle soup before, but I'm glad that I was able to try it. Our entrees were amazing as well.

There is a dress code for this restaurant...just keep that in mind! We actually brought a change of clothes for our walking tour later that afternoon.

My wife, daughter and I experienced a most amazing taste of New Orleans exceptional southern customer service, delivered by our servers Eric and Daren, which combined with the presentation of the multiple courses of delicious food and refreshing beverages in a pristine environment was simply amazing. The staff was extremely friendly and dedicated to the customer experience. We were invited to walk-through the open kitchen and visit the backyard flower gardens - both the kitchen and flower gardens were a special treat to see
