I learned about the Commander's Palace from watching "Top Chef" and I only could imagine how it taste. I finely made the trip to New Orleans and try how good my eyes could only enjoy.

Now my tongue and eyes are sync, could the food here is amazing. Starting with the garlic bread, then the French roll and whipped butter that I couldn't stop eating. Then my Cowboy Ribeye arrived and it was perfect. I never had a piece of meat cooked so perfectly and tender then the Ribeye I ordered. OMG, if I eat here again 10 more times I will order the Cowboy Ribeye again and not wonder about the other entrees or care less about them.

Straight up the Cowboy Ribeye is the best entree on they're menu. I mean look at it.

Food 10/10. Service 10/10. Restaurant 10/10.

My husband was wearing conservative dark jeans, dress shoes and a $200 cotton shirt. Despite the fact that it was our anniversary we were denied access for lunch. No large signage to clarify why we were turned away but after we left I did find something printed on a walking tour brochure. Went to Mulates and had a fantastic lunch so our day was not ruined.

Wasn't terribly impressed. They sat me by the door, which was cold, and when I wanted to switch, it was a bit of a thing (though they let me). I didn't get a menu for about 5 minutes, which I don't think has ever happened before to me in a restaurant. You also have to go through the kitchen to get to the dining room, but they didn't tell me that, so I was sort of confused and didn't know whether to follow the person. As for food, it isn't bad, but not great. They give you two types of bread, which is nice, but the second is a huge loaf, uncut, in a napkin, so you don't really know what to do with it. For the three demi-soups, which was interesting, the server went through which was which so fast that I honestly had no idea what I was eating. The oyster thing was a bit misleading... I assumed they would be oysters on a shell, so it would have been nice for the waiter to warn me, considering it was basically a soup, and I had already ordered the soups. He also took a very long time to see how my meal was once I got it. The somelier was excellent, though, and the dessert was fabulous. Overall, very eh.

The best food and dining experience ever! So good that this is the first google review I have done. The cheese sampler was amazing! It is an old time formal experience and you are treated like royalty.

20 years later and they are still delivering a great experience. Jazz Bunch + Birthday was a hit. The Eggs Benedict with Pork was incredible. Band played us a great song and Lorenzo was funny but clearly has been there for many many years.

Amazing restaurant. The 3 course meal is fantastic. The best value gourmet in the entire US. The service is incredible; everyone understands that you are there due to a special occasion or moment.

Feels like you're transported back to another era in New Orleans. Incredible menu and wonderful surroundings (with awesome people watching) are staples of this justifiably famous joint in the garden district. If you only go out to one classic New Orleans restaurant, this is probably a pretty good choice.

What can be said about Commander's Palace that hasn't already been said? This was one of the most incredible, entertaining, and special meals I've ever had. There is nowhere quite like it. We sat in the upstairs dining room with a window view of the courtyard, and we enjoyed every minute of the 3.5 hours. Wonderful.

The restaurant is amazing, our server Ben paid attention to every detail. He realized I ordered virgin daiquiri and when the restaurant gave our table and free guava infused shot he brought me virgin shot . Thanks for making me feel included, and thanks for a wonderful evening!

Service is outstanding and the food is the best I've eaten here in NOLA. This should say something because I'm from La! I don't get to come home as much but definitely going back. Make reservations well in advance 1-2 weeks).

It's a high end place with a lot of class. The food was very good. The service was good. The waiter could have been more knowledgeable and friendly. For example I asked "what type of fish is the red fish" and his response was"it's a red fish". He could have at least described it and not just be sarcastic. It's a type of bass, for the record.

Amazing! We sat in the Porch Room and were just in heaven with the ambiance. Food was amazing, service was professional and personal at the same time. Turtle soup, gulf fish, and definitely try the Bread Pudding Souffle!

From the welcome we received upon arrival, through our well-prepared dinner and dessert, to our departure--our evening was perfect. The staff at every level was professional and personable. Our special appreciation to Katelyn, Ben and Ashley.

This was, hands down, the best meal I've eaten. I am a big cheesecake fan, and their cheesecake was the best I've ever had. The service was mixed. The main server (Mary C) was horrible, snotty and absent most of the meal. We also had another server (the main server's assistant) that just started a few weeks prior. He was awesome! I wish I could have split tips and tipped the main server nothing and give everything the assistant.

this is world famous for a reason. the staff treats everyone like royalty, the rooms are gorgeous and atmospheric, and the food is mind-blowingly good: creative, tasty, and beautiful to look at. everyone who works here seems to love what they do. i highly recommend going with the prix fixe chef's menu.

Delicious and unique cuisine, but it seems to masquerade as being in a class higher than it needs to be. The result is a dining experience which is pleasant but a bill that seems disproportionately higher.

My friend took me here for my birthday while we were visiting New Orleans and I'm SO GLAD she did! She's a huge foodie, me not so much. I ordered a dish I wasn't sure I could handle (I'm not a huge meat eater of any kind) and was not disappointed. ALL of the food was spectacular, but much more importantly, the staff was AMAZING. Shea and Jarryd made my birthday dinner SO MEMORABLE - they were incredible!

Thank you so much Commander's Palace, but especially Shea and Jarryd!

First visit here, despite many visits, and notwithstanding these strange times a wonderful experience.

From the moment you arrive, the service is wonderful and it continues throughout.

The food - well, it was absolutely delightful, wonderfully presented, and equally enjoyable.

There s much to choose from, so be adventurous. Enjoy.

Food: classic New Orleans excellence. Service, although polite and welcoming, was spotty and somewhat harried. Possibly shorthanded tonight. Usually 5 stars but had to subtract one tonight.

Orange Peel & Spiced Sugarcane Painted quail

Orange Peel & Spiced Sugarcane Painted quail
In New Orleans, there might not be a better place than Commanders Palace for a delicious, sophisticated, and kinda healthy meal.

The perfectly done quail. Crispy from the outside with a tender center. Spicy, sweet, flavorful, all at the same time. With the most amazing filling fire-roasted chili boudin, smoked bacon, lardons, cider-braised cabbage, five pepper jelly, and sticky sweet & sour satsuma syrup. Every bite was a flavor explosion.

Ample seating, nice & friendly staff, amazing food, great ambiance. The place has a history too, for those interested. They ve also got an amazing Jazz Brunch on weekends.
Make sure to reserve a table and dress to impress as it s pretty upscale.

Pro Tip Their Turtle Soup and dessert selection is BOMB.

This IS the place where you gotta go with that special someone on that special day, whatever that might be for you.

Nicely priced brut rose by the glass - a lovely way to start the evening. Gumbo with rich broth and full of seafood. Then tasty shrimp over flavorful grits. And finally Lally's praline sundae. The best ice cream, sauce and candied pralines ever. And then Lally Brennan herself stopped by to say hello. Magical.

Commanders palace is like hoping into a classic car. Something old, something that turns heads, a real thing. Then you find out it has air conditioning, power steering and real brakes. The building feels like it was always there. That new orleans grew up around it. The service is top tier. The food will remain a memory with you for a long time to come. Make reservations And dont rush your time there. If you only have one day in New Orleans, this needs be your only stop.

Went here for the jazz brunch but there wasn't much jazz. The jazz trio went from room to room and stopped at some of the tables in our area. But they never stopped by ours. The banjo player did swing by briefly and ask if my friend and I had any requests. I gave him a song but by then the other two musicians had departed. He said he'd be right back but never returned. The service, too, was slow-paced, not so much the food coming out but the hospitality of the servers who were kind of brusque. But the food was really good. A must-order is that souffle.

Super overrated. The garden room is beautiful. The cheap martinis are not good. You get what you paid for. the three course lunch was reasonable. The salads were meh. Dessert was good. We got a dinner entree (redfish) which was really good. We also got beignets which were meh. Lunch was $90. Ridiculous.

The absolute best of New Orleans! You will back as often as possible. Don't like crowds? Try the lunches at noon, weekday. Hugh Stiel , Lafitte Guest House and The Frenchmen Hotel.
Take taxi for short ride from French Quater. 10 min short ride.

A must go if you are in NOLA! Not only is everything here delicious (even the turtle soup which I refused to try at first) but the ambiance is beautiful and classic. It s perfect for a romantic date or a celebration with family. Service is impeccable and make sure to save room for dessert! As someone who avoids cheesecake because it is too rich and indulgent, this cheesecake is fluffy, light and delicious! I ate the whole slice myself and wanted more. The ambiance, food and service, is worth the price- highly recommend!

If I could rate 3.5 I would. My partner and I came into the restaurant tonight at 6 and was seated right away. Our server was amazing! But from there everything was just okay. We decided to do the restaurant week menu option since it was still being offered this week. To me a restaurant week menu is supposed to be food that excites the guests and makes them want to come back. I also expected tones of flavor. The soup du jour had flavor but nothing exciting. The Rootbeer braised short rib was the most disappointing part of the meal. Low on flavor, boring, and honestly looked terrible plated. I do honestly believe a child could of made it look more appealing. The polenta... well let's just say it needed alot of work. Finally the dessert, I'm not honestly sure what it was called but it was almost like a apple crisp with a brown butter icecream. (I asked to order this special because of the server's recommendation). Once again lacking flavor. It was just "okay". Chalk it up to a okay night. Maybe the love for the restaurant is gone. Maybe the love for food from the chef is gone.

What an excellent, memorable experience. The seven course tasting menu was unique and satisfying. Although I didn't like everything because I'm picky, it was fantastic to try new things and push those boundaries. My favorite part of the evening was the service. From the warm and gracious welcome from BJ to the personal conversation with the owner, every interaction felt authentic and engaged. I highly recommend this tasting if you have a few hours and loose clothes!

Amazing food!! Excellent service, reservations required. This is a special place equally good for a quiet night on the town or a special occasion. If I lived in New Orleans this would be my go to place for birthdays and anniversaries.
