Not for me again. I was charged twice, once at the store and again when I tried to activate it online. Two phone calls to try to get credit and no call backs. Used it twice and saved about $10. Better deals through courses or other online booking service. Also, the store was out of the bonus golf balls, and my fault, but did not make it back to the Centennial store, and 88th Ave store did not seem to share interest in the program.
We have used Avid Golfer for several years, and it has always been good for us. However, over the past couple of years more and more of the courses in the passport restrict use by putting time restrictions in their availability. That severely limits play and makes us look for other deals. Especially during the week M-Th.
I always look forward to reading the next issue. AvidGolfer consistently shares great stories and the latest on everything in golf. Highly recommend!
It is a good deal if you like to ride during non-peak hours and pay close attention to the restrictions set forth by each course. However, my complaint comes with the fact that there is no incentive for walking - the discount provided basically eliminates the cart fee (~$15/round). Which, again, is nice you if ride, but if you prefer to walk then this pass isn't really a good deal.
We used the Golf Passport a number of times. The best part was being able to play a few courses that you normally can't get on unless you are a member or staying at the hotel facilities.
Gets worse every year. Best discounts with reasonable tee times are at the not-very-good courses. Restricted days/times for most are ridiculous (Ex.: Mon-Thu after 1 PM). Will not buy again.
There are other discount golf books that are much better. The AvidGolfer is very limited and more expensive than other options. In addition, there were 3 different courses where the "public" price was better than the price with the book. Research your options.
The coupon book is a great value even if one just occasionally plays golf. The restaurant discounts are an added bonus that I take advantage of. Have already purchased my 2020 Passport coupon book.
This book gets me practical deals and pays for itself quickly
