Exactly what a neighborhood coffee shop should be. Great Irish theme with a very interesting menu. I enjoyed a "St. Paddy" mid-day on a Monday and was able to find a window seat and move about comfortably. The baked goods were tasty. I didn't check out the basement "grotto." The window seats get pretty toasty with afternoon sunlight blasting in. Between the sun and coffee I started sweating after 15 minutes :-)
Like this spot. I'll be back during my Capitol visits.

Claddagh Coffee has a charming old world atmosphere. Local artists display their work on the walls. The bakery items were just like fresh homemade. The pumpkin bar was delicious! There is a good selection of fancy coffee concoctions.

I ve been here 4 or 5 times now and have been increasingly disappointed each time. I think I ve been here enough times to finally comment that the specialty coffees are never as good as they sound, which is a real shame because they all sound amazing.
Today I got a large, hot Saint Patty s which is supposed to be espresso, coconut, and dark chocolate (w/steamed milk). I tasted the coconut but there was no chocolate whatsoever. I m not even sure if there was espresso in it. It literally tasted like lukewarm milk with some coconut syrup.
This has been the case every time I have ordered a specialty coffee. It ends up being lukewarm and tasting like milk. I don t know how many shots of espresso are supposed to be in the specialty coffees, but either it isn t enough or they forget to put them in. Maybe I just need to stick with a cold press or americano to taste coffee.
I will say that the staff is always nice and I do love the decor here. I just wish the coffee lived up to everything else.

Love Claddagh!
This is my favorite coffee spot! I love this location, it feels so cozy especially when the weather is not so great. Do yourself a favor and check out the basement! Awesome selection on craft caffeine and great food! Awesome staff with great decor :)

I love this place. They have unique drinks, great pastries, and plenty of seating options. It does get busy, but always check for seating in the basement. There s only street parking, but you can usually find a spot in the neighborhood. While you re waiting for your drink to be made at the end of the bar make sure to look down and drop a coin. :)

Good local place right off downtown St. Paul with good prices. They have a punch card rewards program if you desire to frequent and additional parking off the roads to the NW if you can't get street side parking

Atmosphere: The atmosphere is 5 stars. It has more seating available than most small coffee shops and the vibe is top-notch. Outlets available from most areas if you need to charge your devices.
The 4 star rating comes from two factors: coffee flavor and price.
Coffee: The coffee flavor here aligns with the more modern sour/tangy espresso trend. If you like coffee from places like Spyhouse, you will like this. It is just not my personal preference.
Price: Price is the main reason for the 4 stars. A simple double espresso comes to nearly $4, which is the highest I have seen. An iced coffee was also around $4, which also awards it the highest price I have seen. This being said, I understand the difficulties of making a locally owned coffee shop profitable, so it will not prevent me from returning.

Vibrant upstairs and a cozy downstairs for both kinds of people. Feeling Hobbit-like today, the downstairs was perfect to relax, study, knit and sip some very smooth coffee. The staff was kind and inviting, and they had knowledgeable suggestions without an ounce of stuffiness.

This is a delightful venue to enjoy a delicious coffee - my favorite is the Sister Mary Claddagh, an orange/dark chocolate latte. Many inspired combinations with memorable names!
