Great place, clean, well maintained. Everyone needs to get outdoors and walk, bike or boat. Wear sunscreen.

nice little lake with lots of water, trees, shelter houses, softball diamonds, and boats.

Great small lake. Fishing, boating, gardens, softball, long walking paths, shelter houses, golf course and some playground equipment. Lots can be done.

Had loads of fun but ended up having blue green algae poisioning and we stayed away from the areas we could tell had it

1st time I have kayaked and loved it. The process to rent was also easy and well organized. Very disappointed in the cost, $10.00 for 30 minutes is a little much.

Great place for outdoor activities. Weddings, picnics, sports, excersising

Love walking and biking around the lake! Great place to be outdoors and get your exercise in at the same time. Different areas provide different views and difficulty levels.

A LOOONG walk by a beautiful lake...what's not to love? Also, pretty ducks & geese.

Lake Shawnee is such a great place to go for the 4th of July celebration, the hot air balloon festival, and just to hang out at the lake for a picnic and relaxation. There is so much to do, and the playground is another great touch to keep your little kids busy and away from the water while you grill. Whether you are there to hang out on your boat, or to simply relax on the beach, there is something for everyone to enjoy. There are plenty of trails to walk on to with a view of the lake so you can quickly make your fitbit happy and have a great excuse to keep walking and walking!

I have been going to the lake since 1950's. My parents and sisters played and had picnics there. I fell in love there with a girl. Took her there frequently. Quite a lot of good memories.

Lake Shawnee rocks it's one of the cleaner Lakes in Kansas in my opinion

Nice place for camping. Nature by the lake. Just a bit outside of "town" but feels like a break from all that is Topeka.

Lots of great memories here thru out the years with a recently deceased loved one. My heart will never be the same. I hope you are at peace. 812

Flowers are beautiful, as are the water features, pagodas.

Great place for family gatherings. Multiple play grounds, bbq pits, picnic areas that are both sheltered and open. Docks for fishing, boating, paddle boating. Camping/RV park available

I use the 7 mile paved trail around the lake multiple times a week. It is well maintained. The gardens on the west side are very nice.

Stopped by to dip my feet in.. Beautiful place! Fish were swimming too!

This beauty is very clean, the water is very clear ... a lot of shade ... and its side garden is beautiful. I loved it for sure I will go again .... aaaa already especially its very clean bathrooms ..

No sewer, but there is a dump site. The green space is great - but the place where you park is a bit strange, with the area just being one big gravely-parking lot. Nice though.

The Gazebo was a welcome surprise and the view was incredible

So much to do here, it really is the gem of Topeka. I am becoming worried of the pollution run off (golf course?) causing algae overpopulation and infestation and killing the lake off with its biological imbalance. The water is always over green even in the winter. I hope specialists can fix it so we can have the lake for many more generations!

Its a beautiful place ...but where are the bathrooms?

It's a nice place to go for a walk or just have a seat and read a book.

Need a place to go and get away? Lake Shawnee is a great place to go. They also have a small pond made up for the little ones to fish at!! Highly recommend it to anyone who needs to get out and have a relaxing time. It also gets the kiddos outside!!

What a beautiful lake. There's a trail for riding and biking. You can fish, boat or just settle and meditate. There are shelter houses for rent and playground for kids. Pack a lunch and make an afternoon of it.
There is an RV park on site as well.

Beautiful in the fall, kind of a hidden gem in Topeka. The lake is nice to boat and swim in. My issue between four and five stars is the rules for boating during the summer are too restrictive for the amount of lake available. I would like to see a better use of the lake. Surrounding the lake are parks, playgrounds, and campgrounds that allow for many hours of enjoyment.

Was there fir sunflower state games in baseball and had great facilities . Also have many other great things to do there

Great view of gardens, waterfalls, fun playgrounds for the kids, etc.

Although it s been around for some time, they are constantly maintaining and improving the grounds. They stock the lake with trout twice a year. They have a very nice Fourth of July celebration. A very nice Christmas light display. A very clean and accommodating campground. Numerous shelter houses available to rent for events, both open and enclosed. The landscaping is very nice, especially the Ted Ensley garden area !

Beautiful, public lake with walking and biking trail, swim beach, camping, golfing, and water activities including paddle boats.

Very quiet durring spring, and the flowers are pretty :)

One of my favorite lakes to visit! So peaceful and calm being out on Lake Shawne!
