This was the worst stay. The hotel is not what is advertised via the web and the photos used for their webpage are not true to form. This place smells like smoke so much that you can taste it. The place is over crowded. They have one area of elevators to accommodate a lot of people, which can often take you 15 minutes to wait in line to get up to catch an elevator, then you have to wait again because they are over crowded and you can t get on. The place smells and is dirty. If you like the old feel of the 1960 s casinos, you ll love it here, but if not don t go. The circus and midway area are misleading from what they advertise on their website. Your kids will most likely live it but be prepared to bring some bucks$ for the midway and games. The circus show though short was unique and entertaining, and was free to watch. The rooms were smelly, and with no fitted sheet and just a sheet and small blanket thrown on during the winter months. The whole time I was worried about catching something or seeing roaches on the floor. Not a good experience, won t recommend or go back.
Played some midway games, caught a free act and had a great time. The casino & midway were clean, air smelled good, and the games were new.
It s exactly what you would imagine kid casino to be. Bright lights and noisy children. But for it to seem so kid friendly if I m remembering correctly there was a lot of cigarette smoke in the air. Not a place I would bring my children to more than once
Great hotel , affordable, great service at check in , renovated rooms at skytower, good coffee at sipis inside the hotel. For breakfast tryout madame caffe near casino area. Well recommend for business traveler's.
Very dissappointed. I am a very rare, have a drink kinda person. Bring the grands to play in the fairway, my son an I decided to go grab a drink , dil stay with the kids, we find a lounge sat down, ignored for several minutes so we stand to the bar didn't want to play the machine it wouldn't take my players card, wait for several more minutes, then the bartender finally acknowledges us..wait thru someone else's order then it was our turn. 30. 00 dollars , make that 35.00 I stupidly gave him a 5.00 tip. For 2 simple drinks. I'm not here complaining about the cost I'm complaining about the quality and I did recollect and and recall the amount of alcohol I witnessed him put in mine was a teaspoon, if that of vodka. So if I'm gonna pay 15.00- 20.00 for a drink I should of been at least a lil satisfied, my son drank his like it was water and he said it tasted like that as well. Bad customer service and the bartender needs to charge according to what he is serving
They've gotten rid of all their interesting games leaving only single button games, ticket games, and midway games in their fun center.
It was over packed with people
Major safety concern. And was extremely hot . Could barely walk around carnival game area.
Such a fun place. All of the staff in the hotel and casino are super friendly and very welcoming. We felt safe, had a blast in the casino, we loved all of the gift shops, and loved all of the food choices.
Newly remodeled rooms are very nice we were happy with our stay, our kids had a ton of fun!
Variety of activity for adults and kids, good for spending some times!
Useless workers at a closed hotel which pretends to be open
Room was nice, a little on the old side but nice. Check-in was a hassle as they needed more employees. Overall we had fun and enjoyed our stay
I love everything about Reno as more of a down-home feel than Vegas this is one of my favorite hotels they have a live circus act seems like on the hour slots did payout left with $400 so I'm a happy winner I would encourage anybody the visit circus circus
I went for my 1.5 and 3 year old kids. They had a blast playing the arcade/carnival games. They were able to play a few games and win their own prizes. It will drain your cash, but I was expecting it w the setup.
It was also nice that there are restaurants right by the circus games, so the kids could eat and then we could walk a few steps and play.
It wasn't very inviting or a pleasant atmosphere. Smells weird. Other casinos are nicer. I can see the incentive if you have kids but not so much otherwise.
The arcade is a great time with little ones. Games are fun and affordable. Easy to get prizes. And the circus acts are a great bonus, just wish they were longer.
Great place to spend some money! Wait staff is great and make awesome drinks even if you are just putting a buck in the video poker at the bar!
Cool place ,lots to do as long as you stay inside. There is a serious transient problem out side.
The Hotel Lobby smells a LOT BETTER then just after the weekend. All in all, a nice place to stop in. I recommend.
Google Guides update: Since my last visit just after the weekend, the orders of tobacco has subsided.
I love all 3 casinos on the row but my favorite is the shows for free.
Very entertaining for our three year old and thankful to be here it off the storm. Staff was a bit cold. Bartender upstairs next to arcade was nice and helpful
A former shadow of its self even though they did a lot of remodeling this place has lost its human aspect no more hosts and are no longer there in other words it looks really empty. I was a regular there for years.
Modern looking room and bath, large tv, casino in short walking distance inside.
I'm giving the circus circus 5 stars. The reason being Great customer service. Very clean rooms and the food was delicious.. I'm most deafening go to bed return visitor.. Very professional staff...
A very nice play the only thing is that the walk for one hotel to the games is a long walk but it is alright love it
Over the course of two nights and three days I had a very up and down experience with circus circus. The main reason why the hotel loses stars is because of cleanliness. The handles on the dresser were sticky and the inside of the drawers needed a cleaning as well. The other reason they lose stars is due to service. While most of the bar tenders were in a good mood, the other people I interacted with just didn't seem to want to be there. The final negative was the elevators. The hotel was so busy that it could take 20 minutes for an elevator to get you from one of the top floors.
Visits recently and had fun! I really loved the food they had available and enjoyed the show.
Mexican restaurant was great would go back. Authentic Mexican food
Hotel room is nice update clean for the most part. Great service. One down fall found a bug in the room so only four stars for the circus circus
Been coming here since I was a kid with my family. They recently renovated the whole midway area and restaurants, very kid friendly and fun for the family. The only downside with the renovations is they took out the tables from the casino so now I have to walk to El Dorado or Silver Legacy to play. Otherwise, still a good place to go!
Took my Granddaughter to Circus Circus to enjoy the Midway. The stage is down where the little ones can see the performances and there are a lot of games for littles and not-so-littles. We spent quite a bit of money, but everyone had fun.
In one word: Old. This place needs a update. The people are very nice and they have RV parking which was a big help.
Amazing place with great food choices and great staff and the rooms are quiet!
The food was great, as was the entertainment, but the lodging was mediocre in terms of service and quality. We requested and paid for a room that had two beds and only had one. While that wasn't much of an issue, when we asked for a cot for the room to replace the bed the cot took 2-3hrs to arrive because of poor staff communication. That and seemingly-broken TVs are why I cannot give a high rating.
Fun for the kids and the family. I seem to win some each time. Many places to eat. Overall it's a fun family time.
Great place for couples and families. Clean rooms and the prices are excellents. Has a really great food court with excellent prices.
I spend 3 nights as a guest here and overall, I was impressed. The last time I had stayed here was about 10 years ago and they have made some huge improvements to the rooms. Since then, they have remodeled the rooms, making them more current. I was pleasantly surprised with the aesthetic qualities of the room.
So why only give them three stars? Well here are my two biggest gripes with Circus Circus.
First off, the climate control in the room. Like I said earlier, they have remodeled the rooms to keep them more current. Well part of that remodel involved them adding a temp control thermostats to the rooms. So why is that an issue? Well it seems that they didn't replace the AC units and found some sort of way to use a temp control thermostat with an AC unit that wasn't meant to be controlled by a temp control thermostat. Because the AC unit was never designed to be used in such a way, the temp control thermostat constantly causes the AC unit to turn on and off. Rather than running at a constant temp matching that of the Thermostat, it regulates the temperature by turning the unit off and then on, very regularly.
From someone who has a difficult time sleeping away from home, the constant turning off and on of the AC unit makes it damn near impossible for me to sleep. Let me be clear, it's not that the AC unit is too loud, preventing me from falling asleep. It's the irregular action of it turning on and off that is the problem. For this reason, you either have to turn it down to a temp that keeps it running constantly (which it gets way too cold) OR turn it off completely (which makes it too hot) for you to achieve a consistent sound that allows for one to sleep.
The second issue is probably more of a personal issue than anything but I feel that I'm probably not the only one who feels this way...So when you are gambling at Circus Circus, every 15 minutes or so, an announcement comes on over the sound system that proclaims that "any person under the age of 22 is not allowed to loiter per the Nevada State Gaming Regulations.
Now I understand that Circus Circus probably has an issue with minors in the gaming area more than other casinos, due to the fact that they have many attractions geared towards kids. I understand why they think that a public announcement every 15 minutes is more efficient than paying for extra security to enforce the law... However being that I am well into my adult years, having to constantly hears the obnoxious recording over and over again was a driving factor of me leaving to gamble at literally ANY other casino, none of which constantly interrupt you to remind kids to stay off the casino floor.
I guarantee that I'm not the only one who feels the same way and I fully believe that they are losing a big portion of their 'Bread and Butter' customers due to these annoying announcements.
So in closing, I will definitely stay here in the future. The room was unbelievably nice considering how much cheaper it was than the competition. However, I will be less likely to spend the real money that they are after, my gambling money, at this establishment due to the constant barrage of announcements that are irrelevant to me.
They've made huge upgrades since I was kid in the 90s. Soooo much better. Now I take my kids here. Midway is pretty much the same. Give or take a few new games.
I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The employees were polite and the room was clean.
Staff was great need to have more English speaking employees
Clean. It was a lil worn. Otherwise staff was friendly.
The circus part was fun for the kids. They enjoyed our time playing all the games. For the adults, we had a good time at the casino. For selection on slots and the have a bubble craps game, which we enjoy winning money at.
Liked the place alot! Loads to do! You can spend all day in there and not do the same thing twice!
We had a great time at the Laugh factory. Comedians were funny, good crowd. The hotel was clean and had good options for food.
Fun for the whole family in this 2 star hotel/casino. Plenty of midway games for the kids and plenty of adult games as well. Very cool that Circus Circus, El Dorado and Silver Legacy are all connected to each other, so you can hop from one to another without going outside.
They gave us the option to choose our floor! Pretty decent hotel for what you pay. Definetly would recommend.
Very poor customer care badly maintained and poor service.Never recommend a stay here last visit we were at a small BGrade hotel which was far superior in terms of service, comfort and maintenance
Sure, it's a decent Hotel and if you are a gambler it has all the usual Nevada games, but what really makes this place cool in my book is there are lots of things for the young adults to do as well! My teens loved playing in the gaming area and watching the free Circus shows. It's one of the true "family friendly" hotel/casino's in Nevada.
Our room shared a wall with the elevator. It was so loud all night I did not sleep the entire weekend. The front desk was busy so I was unable to address the issue directly with them. I did with other staff about it including a Supervisor and was referred to the front desk. I was unable to wait for the long line to speak with someone because i was on a schedule. My room also wasn't cleaned well. The bathroom had sticky on the floor. I cleaned the floor with a wet cloth and the cloth was black when i was done. The shower had caked on soap scum around the soap dish. Despite being newly remodeled the bed was hard, and the two pillows we had for each bed were old and flat. I had to call for additional pillows. I will. say the check in staff was friendly, but due to the amount of people were very rushed. A woman came back to my front desk clerk to complain he had given her a dirty room,so I wasn't the only one. I wouldn't stay again.
Hotel is decent for downtown Reno and the arcade area and shows are nice for people of all ages.
Love the place people are Great good food lots of fun
Went to show the kids a fun time with the games. Was not disappointed! They had a blast. Will definitely return.
Great food and fun. Played lots of games for hours. Highly recommend.
I hate the new cards you have to load money on to just to play games... It has to the fun out of the midway family time
Updated rooms are nice. Was surprised to see the changes to the circus area. It brought back memories, from when I used to go as a kid, now returning with my daughter.
Not a great one, but not a bad one too. Good kids entertainment section. I would have only given 2.5 stars until i found that their circus shows are still offering opportunity to old performers, which in my view is highly accommodating... Will update review later with more details
Fun for adults and kids. Free parking structure. Good food. In downtown reno. Walking distance to other casinos and events.
Very cost effective. A bit past its prime but well worth the prices. I would call it a bargain. Very clean and well kept up.
Amazing casino, it has something for the whole family, my 4 year old especially liked the "carnival" themed arcade/game section.
Employees are rude, management is extremely rude. The only good thing about this casino is they clean it thouroghly daily.
Garbage casino. Old machines and it smells very heavily of smoke.Just go to the El Dorado or Silver Legacy instead.
We only checked out the arcade floor on this visit and it was seriously crowded. We liked that the games weren't overpriced like you'd find at Dave and Busters, but the prizes were pretty sad. It was a pretty cool atmosphere though, we enjoyed the show that happened right in the middle of everything, it helped the circus feel. We will probably go back.
Rooms were a good rate. The elevator line was slow. Had fun donating money to the machine and playing carnival games with friends
It's a very huge place and you get all kinds of stuff in there and the circus show is free and entertaining.
Rooms could be updated a bit but everything else is great.
Stayed in the Sky Tower and the remodeled rooms look GREAT! We were actually the first people to stay in it on Cinco DE Mayo! It had just opened up at 5pm that day. Beds were very comfortable and I slept all night long. Very much enjoyed the stay, just wish they had a pool!
Parking was a little tricky and arcade is still in progress but overall it was nice. Maybe hire more workers who are a little more willing to extend some smiles and customer service.
Decided to stop by Circus Circus since we were in the neighborhood. We hadn't been here for at least 10 years and everything was as we remember. The food in the restaraunt we ate at was good and the atmosphere was nice. Definitely didn't regret stopping by for a bit and seeing how it was doing.
After remodeling the room looks more modern and still low price for family budget minded customers. Will come back for more.
Comfortable rooms. Much better than the Vegas circus circus. Place is huge.
Room 1805 was nice... Recently remodeled. There was construction on the room below us, but it didn't go too late (maybe 9:30pm). The bed was super comfy. My only complaint was the shower head being made for midgets. I'm 6'1", average male height, and it was a good 6" lower. I had to bend over to shower. Was not good times.
Located near the University of Nevada campus. Reasonable room rates for a downtown area. Not the most modern rooms, and you have to walk through a casino to get to them, but it is easy and quick. The food court offers a number of dining options that are also fast.
It's a great place to have some family fun!!! The kiddos don't feel like leaving
This is me and my love's favorite getaway spot! Rooms connected to food, slots, shops, and dancing; doesn't get any better. Also, you're pretty central to anything else you need. Walmart within 10 minutes and Grubhub will bring you anything else you need right to your door, so I mean...what's not to love?
I was not an overnight guest. But as always, the midway was a huge hit with my little cousins! Great fun and brought back good memories.
Circus is the best place in Reno if you bring your minor children with you. But the midway and arcade are not what they used to be and they removed all the table games from downstairs. The inexpensive buffet is long gone, replaced by a small food court. Good food choices (Habit, Pizza, Panda) but no longer inexpensive.
My wife likes the older slot machines and Circus has many of them. If you want the new flashy digital ones Silver Legacy or Eldorado are better equipped. We usually make the rounds and find some games to play at Circus when we're in Reno.
Buffett was amazing, the sausage made me moist, and we got to throw darts at hookers at the midway. An amazing experience would definitely go again
The Circus is a great family place. We go there to take a break for 24 hours. For fun, food, live circus acts and a bunch of kids circus games. The adults can go down stairs for fun like 21, Craps, Keno, Poker, Slot machines galore. I stay with the kids, it's a lot more fun. The rooms are nice and quiet too.I enjoy this place, the kids do to.
My stay was excellent. The room and amenities was also great. The front desk was a easy check in and customer service. And peace and quiet
It's a good place for kids to spend their day at. It also has a shuttle that connects it to silver legacy which kids would love.
This place isnt what it used to be. Most of the carnival games cleared out and the ones remaining are extremely over priced
