Fantastic place! It has a charm to it. It's perfect place to lose oneself in the world of creaky wooden floors, carpeted stairs, and fabric wallpapers. Good coffee and scrumptious cake. A good place to spend some time ( or even day!) with a book.

I was at the Circolo dei Lettere on Wednesday 17 October 2018 for the presentation of the book by Carlo Calenda. So: either you have a card (90 euros) and you can book a seat (by phone or even via the internet, if I understand correctly), or you have to meet at least an hour before the event to receive a magical number (on paper) that gives you the opportunity to log in. If you find a large group of people who have been in line for two hours you risk not being able to enter, despite the best of intentions. Obviously a small number per person, and not, I don't know, at most two which could be a sensible thing and would also avoid hoarding phenomena.
But does it seem logical to you? We are in the two thousand and eighteen! Allow everyone to book via the Internet, with the obligation to show up 30 minutes before! As they all do. Do you want to spread culture or what? Otherwise, a Bridge Club is created with invitation only. Then why Circle of Readers? Those who read, those who feel the need to read, continue to do so, Circoli or non Circoli.
