Delicious food, great atmosphere and one of the friendliest servers I've ever met. The Carne Adovada was amazing and tender. I definitely recommend it. The beer was cold and the seats along the wall was comfortable in the back room. It's beautiful inside and out.

Ok. Let me tell you about this place. First, it looks like a little cottage from the outside, but when you go in and explore, the place is huge. It has a little cafe in the front. Then enter a little dining room, then a huge dining room and an adorabe outside porch area as well. And it goes on and on. Food was great, service was nice. Very laid back and not pushy. Beautifully decorated. Authentic, fun

My mother and I would eat here frequently throughout the years before she passed away.(1-13-18)
She enjoyed the Taco salad and I loved the Navajo taco! Tony would wait on us with excellent service. We always felt like we were family with Rita and Marie's greeting us and making us feel at home! Great place to bring relatives visiting the Land of Enchantment. God bless you!

They have excellent live music playing. The horchata is really good. They put a hint of cinnamon in it which works wonders. The service is good and the place is cosy. Although they will probably not be able to handle a large group easily.

Church Street Cafe is my absolute favorite New Mexican restaurant! It's where we take out of town relatives for green chile. Everything on the menu is fantastic and the chips and salsa and sopapillas are great! Their patio has lots of flowers and shade and is quite lovely. In cooler weather they have the fires inside for a cozy ambiance. They do $20 pitchers of margaritas and the staff is always nice. I love going to Church Street Cafe and I bet you will too. I highly recommend giving them a try!

Good food, great environment. They did take a long time to seat us. While waiting we used the bathrooms and noticed many open tables. Other larger groups that came after us were seated 1st. It wasnt until we started complaining that they started to figure out where to seat us.

Truly a magical place, especially outside on the back patio. Food always is fresh and cooked to order. If you wanted to rush through a power lunch, you would have gone someplace else to begin with.

I had a burrito with red chile (which was strong in a good way, just so you know), and the others had sandwiches or salad for lunch, which they also enjoyed.

The outdoor atmosphere was great, and the decorations fit with Old Town. There was a masked-man nearby playing his classical guitar (worthy of a tip), and that added to the mood. This was a memorable experience.

This where we dine when we're shopping in Old Town, or simply when we have a craving. Check out their patio in the warmer temps. It's beautiful with foliage and a water fountain. The food is pretty tasty. I like their Pueblo burger with cheese and green chile. The have a great addition that can accompany a large party. It looks tiny on the outside but step inside to be positively surprised.

I've been here twice now. The first time was excellent. I ate with my family in the older section where the dining room reminded me of a quaint old adobe farmhouse in the bosque. The second time we were in the large dining room that seemed louder and not as intimate. I would pick the former if you have a choice.
I ordered my meal with green chile and corn tortillas instead of flour. Well, when Kori delivered the meal it had neither of those. The rest of my party appeared to be satisfied with what was delivered. I decided not to start eating until I received what I had ordered. I told the others to start and not wait for me. 15 minutes later I was still waiting, as Kori didn't come back and check on us prior to finally delivering the corn tortillas after that. Meanwhile, the others were on their way to finishing. For me the meal was a disaster, due to me having to sit there looking at a complete plate of food that was missing one important item. I would have though a restaurant like this would have fresh corn tortillas on the ready. I did get an apology, but it was a lame explanation for why it took so long.

Amazing and beautiful old town Albuquerque gem! Delicious vegan menu items without having to create your own. We enjoyed the bowl of red Chile with beans and bowl of green chili with beans and Guacamole appetizer. The restaurant is breathtakingly beautiful as well. The server was kind and attentive. Looks like a beautiful event venue.

I have been here on September 16th for my first and only time. I bought a cinnamon roll for a total of $5.31 (including tax) (at least that's what my receipt saith, which I still have). Well my statement of bank account saith they charged me $14.12
Therefore this has been the most expensive cinnamon roll I have ever bought... I have no idea what have happened here but obviously I am not happy ;)

Phenomenal New Mexican cuisine and top-notch service. This is a favorite of my in-laws who live locally. I've been here a half a dozen times and have yet to find an entree that doesn't exceed everyone's expectation. The menu is comprehensive and can be customized to meet a variety of dietary needs.

The best New Mexican food in Albuquerque. The chile rellenos stuffed with chicken, smothered in green chile, were the best I've ever had.
The ambiance of the restaurant is perfect and really showcases what New Mexican love is all about... I recommend this restaurant to anyone who is a local, or a tourist who wants to taste the " spice" of Burque at it's best...

We came here a few years ago (Oct.2011) while visiting ABQ during a busy Saturday evening,, Food was excellent and couldn't wait to come back. Fast forward to today Sunday 3/13/16. Came in with a party of 7 at 2:30pm for lunch. The place had a few people in it but had many open tables...We were told that we'd have to wait 30-45 mins because the servers were busy and couldn't accommodate a party of 7. I then asked to split the party and sit at two different tables,, but received the same answer from the host,,,"the mgr says we don't have servers available." A party of 4 came in 2 mins later and were seated immediately. Dumbfounded, we asked about it and were given a lame answer again. We left! Went to High Noon Restaurant and enjoyed being seated immediately and the food was awesome. Uh, there were just as many people at High Noon eating for lunch.

this place is 100% a tourist trap. i know because im a tourist who was suckered into eating here. we were on our way back to arizona and wanted some good new mexican green chile dishes. we were seated promptly, and then waited about 10 minutes for a server to bring water and chips with salsa (tasted like any store bought jar salsa). we ordered chile con queso (straight up Velveeta cheese with canned green chiles and not enough of them either.) the chips were overcooked as well. we both ended up ordering chile rellenos and they were pathetic. they were not chiles stuffed with cheese but rather a strange egg dough, filled with shredded cheese and the same canned green chiles. way to much dough, and not the right texture of cheese the rellenos are supposed to have (supposed to be made with a smooth mexican fresh cheese, these tasted like walmart shredded cheese.) the rice and beans were again generic store bought tasting, and covered in the same shredded cheese. we ate our food because at $15 a plate, we couldn't afford not too, but this was a meal i would have made in my dorm room using the microwave. not authentic mexican food.

Typical southwestern fare executed well. The salsa and chips are good ... really fresh salsa and crunchy chips. The guacamole is ok but more like a an avocado dip (kinda whipped). The green and red chili sauces are authentic and tasty ... the rellenos were good, but the tamales a bit dry. The service was excellent and it was overall a good experience!

I went to Church St. a couple of Sundays ago following a visit to the ABQ Museum's Expo Japan exhibit with a party of 7. We're all local residen. We got seated easily and the restaurant wasn't crowded at all. The wait times were horrible. We had a wait of nearly 15 minutes to get our drinks. One person had to wait, as the waitress said, because they needed to make more coffee. After another 20 minutes and our friend still didn't get her coffee and the waitress hadn't been back by we were finally able to get a bus person to bring coffee. Then another 20 minutes to get our order taken. After some time, the waitress came back out saying that the "tape was unreadable by the cook' and she had to retake our orders which led to another 25 minute wait. One of the party tried asking the waitress a question which she answered as though she was put out by it. While the food was good and the restaurant did end up comping us for our drinks, I don't plan on returning. I don't plan on recommending it as a place to go because I'd be ashamed if friends or acquaintances visiting ended up with same indifferent service we got.

Can't really say. Hours on the Website and on the door said they were open early (8am) for breakfast, but when we got there they had put up a sign saying they would open at 11:00. It looked like there was a film crew setting up in the area, so maybe that had an effect on the hours. Disappointed that we didn't get to try them, though.

This place would of been good had it not been for the horrible service. Our waitress was overwhelmed and undertrained. We didn t get our order taken until 20 mins after we were seated and it took forever to get our food. Apparently our food was ready but our waitress didn t have a chance to bring it to our table because she was so busy with other tables. By the time we got it, it was getting cold. Other tables around us were also complaining about the slow service. You need to hire more qualified people. Because of today, I won t be going back.

Not sure why this place has less stars. I really liked it. They have a very cute space, lots of fun decor and an incredible outdoor patio which is very green and has a fairy tale quality to it, with a fountain in the center, metal work patio chairs and flowers.

The food is passable, not the greatest, but the drinks are good. I liked the sangria margarita and the taquitos but i would skip the tacos. Come here for drinks and apps is my recommendation. They do have a large indoor space as well with a number of rooms for private parties.

About Church Street Cafe

Church Street Cafe - A Place to Savor the Best of New Mexico Cuisine

If you're looking for a cozy and welcoming cafe that serves authentic New Mexican cuisine, look no further than Church Street Cafe. Located in the heart of Old Town Albuquerque, this charming restaurant has been serving up delicious food and warm hospitality for over 30 years.

The History of Church Street Cafe

The building that houses Church Street Cafe dates back to the early 1700s when it was built as a hacienda-style home. Over the years, it served as a residence for various families and even housed a brothel at one point. In the 1970s, it was converted into a restaurant by owner Marie Coleman who wanted to create a space where people could come together over good food and conversation.

Today, Church Street Cafe is still owned by Marie's family who have continued her legacy of providing excellent service and traditional New Mexican dishes made with fresh ingredients.

The Menu at Church Street Cafe

One of the highlights of dining at Church Street Cafe is their extensive menu which features classic New Mexican dishes like enchiladas, tamales, chile rellenos, and posole. All their dishes are made from scratch using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.

But what really sets them apart is their famous salsa which has been voted "Best in Albuquerque" multiple times. Made with roasted tomatoes, garlic, onions, cilantro, and just enough heat from green chiles - this salsa is addictive!

In addition to their regular menu items, they also offer daily specials like carne adovada (pork marinated in red chile sauce) or calabacitas (a vegetarian dish made with squash).

Atmosphere & Service

Walking into Church Street Cafe feels like stepping back in time with its adobe walls adorned with colorful artwork and rustic wooden beams overhead. The space is cozy yet spacious enough to accommodate groups both large and small.

But what really makes this place special is its friendly staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Whether you're a regular or visiting for the first time - they treat everyone like family.

Conclusion

If you're looking for an authentic taste of New Mexico cuisine served up with warm hospitality - look no further than Church Street Cafe. With its rich history dating back centuries combined with delicious food made from scratch - it's no wonder why locals keep coming back year after year.

So next time you find yourself in Old Town Albuquerque craving some spicy salsa or savory enchiladas - head on over to Church Street Cafe where you'll be greeted with open arms!
