Prices a bit high and service not great. Not impressed.
Fantastic! Food was wonderful... Service was quick and professional... Price was very reasonable. Rinaldo played in the back garden dining area Will come back....foodie from DC.
Best Strawberry Margarita in town! Good food and good service.
This place is awesome. Food, staff, the atmosphere - all wonderful. The huevos rancheros are amazing and they have the best salsa ever. Definitely coming back if I'm in ABQ again.
It was an exciting experience. The resteraunts has a very comfortable appeal.
Excellent service! I really enjoyed the green Chile chicken soup and the fresh turkey sandwich. I actually came here twice in my 5 day vacation!
Service here was fair and the food took forever to arrive and not very hot. Atmosphere out in the patio was very nice.
Really authentic Spanish/Mexican food! The server/service was good. Definitely give it a shot if your looking for Mexican food!
The place is a lot bigger than what it looks. And the food is awesome. I recommend one of their burgers with Indian fry bread.
Not what it used to be. Queso tastes like velveeta. The salsa is just ok. The chile rellenos - supposedly one of their signature dishes - was just ok, as well. Maybe it is nostalgia that draws in so many people, or it is the beautiful patio.
The Pueblo burger was pretty good and the sever stayed on top of it. Also, I loved the decor. Very good experience overall.
Nice and laid back. Extensive menu, delicious red and green salsas. Really good.
The food was not very flavorful and the ambiance was not good. The wait staff was moderately attentive, not terrible but could definitely be better. Rice was not fully cooked. Overall was lacking.
Food tasted good, but upset my GI system afterwards both times I ate there.
If you are a vegetarian, you better careful with this place. At least on the breakfast menu, I ordered an omelette, and was clear that I was a vegetarian. Everything tasted like BACON. Yuck .
Absolutely HORRIBLE!! The owner, Marie, is an absolute disgrace! She is rude, incompetent, and horrible to her staff. I came with my family and she refused to talk to me when I had a complaint. I believe that it had a lot to do with the color of my skin. Very disappointed, giving that I was told this was a great establishment . DO NOT GO HERE, you will be very disappointed.
If I didn't have to fight two flies off of my meal I would have given a five star. Food and staff were wonderful.
Awesome food and great service. The live music is great. Enjoyed it a lot. Thanks!
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Albuquerque. Their sauce is really delicious. We always buy a case of it to take home with us. For me...it's the green sauce, but for my other half...it's the red sauce.
They make the best vegetarian chile relleno that I've had in New Mexico. Their cheese enchiladas are scrumptious as well. My other half loves their huevos rancheros. Their sopapillas have been hit or miss. Today it was a hit!
Sitting next to the fireplace indoors in the winter or the waterfall on the patio during the spring...the atmosphere is lovely. They never make us rush, we can sit and enjoy our time.
Food is amazing and the atmosphere is awesome in a historic new mexico hacienda.
We came from California for authentic NM food. We were sooo disappointed. The sopapillas were small and flat. The salsa was tasteless. The food was just ok. The service was horrible. The margaritas are made with wine, not tequila and were also tasteless. If you are looking for authentic NM food, don't come here.
I have only been there for the happy hour and the food and the drinks were quite good furthermore they have a beautiful outside patio area in the back of the restaurant with a large water fountain. It's a very pleasant atmosphere.
Lovely Garden, excellent food, reasonable prices in oldtown Albuquerque
You can eat, drink, do not trust the small facade, there are many rooms and a terrace with raccoons in the evening. Great card to eat or drink. The waitress was nice.
Server bothered, patio overshadowed by fan noise, chips stale, breakfast average.
While visiting NM Old Town I found this exquisite little cafe once a home to the Casa de Ruiz family, we were greeted politely & seated immediately before the crowd rushed in for brunch, our waiter was very friendly & outgoing with lots of energy.
I ordered breakfast huevos rancheros with hatch green chiles it was good, the coffee was not my favorite was disappointed they didn't offer Pinon coffee, yet they had others to choose expresso, the table next to us had a wonderful bowl of mixed fruits that I wish I would have ordered, I absolutely loved the decor in each room included the ladies room
Will definitely visit again when in Albuquerque
This was a great place to eat in Old Town. I had the cheese enchiladas... They were really good. If you can, eat on the patio.
This is an absolutely wonderful and beautiful restaurant in one of the oldest Spanish buildings in New Mexico. It is also one of the oldest former homes in Albuquerque built when Albuquerque was first being founded after 1705. My favorite breakfast, huevos rancheros, are served here in excellent quality. Coffee is great too.
Looks can be deceiving. Surprisingly large on the inside! Best food in Old Town.
This cafe was highly recommended so we stopped in for a late lunch. To say the least we were disappointed, mainly due to lack of service. While we were greated warmly by the host, our server truly was lacking in providing attentive service. He took our order, delivered our food and never heard from him again until we waved him down. He brought our bill over and walked away. We waited for him to come back and went to the front register but were told the server needed to pick it up. Another customer, with the same server, had the same issue.
Tables could have been cleaner. I watched the same server wipe down a table, then the seats...then the table again. . Plus, we spent time fending off flies.
We ordered the carne adovada burrito and combination plate. The food was okay. Sopapillas were cold upon arrival. Just a disappointment all around. We are local and with the wide selection of Mexican restaurants to choose from we like to try new places. Unfortunately, this one didn't measure up.
Poor Service! Food was good but service was Very slow and waitress was rude.
Seen this restaurant on tv so my husband and I traveled to Albuquerque and went to try it out. Our waiter was very rude and unattentive..we had to go inside to get our silver ware cause he didn't bring us any and he didnt check on us until we were ready for the check. I had the combination plate with the pork tamale which was ok, chili relleno which was stuffed with chicken, didnt care for it..the zucchini was good.i was expecting green sauce not chunks of green chili. My husband had the green chili cheeseburger and wanted mayonnaise which he never got...he only ate half. So our server did poorly.
Got there before the crowds came from the balloon festival and got seated right away. The complimentary chips and salsa were delicious. My husband's pancakes were large with a side of eggs and sausage. A large portion that he enjoyed. I got a mini order of huevos rancheros that was a perfect portion. The blue chip for the base of the rancheros was very tasty. Our server gave us a complimentary order of sopapeos that we had to take out because we were so full from the meal. Great service and food. We'll be back.
Great decor and history to this place as well as good food in a unique setting
Today the 13 nov 2020
I came into Thai Resturant with my caregiver and service dog clearly marked
I was refused entry and service
When I explained and showed my dogs identifying paperwork which I did not have to do by federal law
The hostess told me that the governor made it a
Law that no service animals
Are allowed in restaurants in New Mexico
This is a lie governors can not over ride federal ADA laws she called or said she called the manager and he also
Said we can not come into the Resturant
I am going to file a complaint with the DOJ and ADA on discrimination towards disabled Americans
Love this place. Good food served in an amazing historic building in the heart of Old Town.
First time and the food was great. The carne adovada plate and chile rellenos had a great authentic taste. The sopapillas they give at the end was warm and tasty. Definitely will come again when we're in Albuquerque.
Very nice atmosphere. I had enchiladas 1 beef and 1 chicken. The beef was the best. Glad I asked for the sauce on the side. Both were too hot for me. My husband had chili rellenos with beef and really liked it. Our disappointment was in the service. Never got sopapillas that come with meal. Dirty plates left on our table and we had to practically tackle our waiter to get the bill.
For this reason we left unhappy.
This used to be one of my favorite Albuq restaurants. Love the building and the garden but the food was very disappointing. Menu was soiled with tomato sauce, which should have been my clue to leave. To go so wrong on basic Mexican food in NM is very sad.
We eat here every time we visit Old Town. The food and service are great and they offer a good variety of New Mexican foods. And sopaipillas are free with your meal, which is always a plus.
Excellent "New Mexican" food, got a table right away even though it looked busy.
It's beautiful, welcoming, and the New Mexican food is authentic. My daughter and I enjoyed everything including the curious and cute Waiters customer service.
Food was true New Mexican and the staff was very helpful.
Was there on a Sunday. Not sure if it was an off day for them but service was lacking and food was ok. This would deserve 3 stars but for the fact that there were flies everywhere in the back room and one in the honey container.
The server said they could not kill the flies even when customers were not present and that new manager has them place the honey container on the table even if you didn t ask for it. I asked them to show the manager the honey with the fly and he said he did and that was that. No manager showed up and nothing else was said. Disappointing.
Finally, I understand the movement to eliminate straws but don t tell everyone you don t have any only to deliver straws to the tables around you.
It s a neat building in a touristy area, this place was better in the past and I hope it returns to those days.
Best breakfast in town. Not busy when we went. Great coffee and staff
I love bringing guests to this wonderful family type restaurant after a day walking around old town.
Quality of food just so so. Used to be really good.
Amazing restaurant ! Great delicious dishes and very friendly service.
It was a warm and friendly atmosphere. We enjoyed our food and the service was fast. The waitress was a talkative guy. :) very interesting history too of the building!
A much larger place than it looks from the outside, but we never get past the dog friendly patio. Excellent New Mexico cuisine
Definitely a let down. Over priced for mediocre food. Mine wasn't seasoned at all it didn't seem. They skimped on the chile. The patio was beautiful and was enjoyable. The staff was incredibly friendly as well. We won't be going back however.
I haven't eaten here in a couple of year or maybe more. I'm from Albuquerque NM and the meal I had on April 11 2019 was the worst I've ever had in all of Albuquerque NM ever .I irdorde the combination plate. I asked for both red and green chili and tge red chilli was burnt on so u couldn't taste it and no green chili at all. I didn't say anything because I was without a new out if state guest but want want eceevery to know this was terrible and way over priced. My guest had a cobb salad and didn't have about so I'm not sure how really good or really bad it was.
The setting is great. We sat in the back patio when it was sprinkling. The food was pretty good. The outdoor furniture was out of date. The service was alright. Overall, it was a good experience.
Great food. Navajo taco was awesome. Reasonable prices. Beautifully decorated inside. Server was great, fast, friendly, knowledgeable of foods listed, nice bathroom, great place to eat. Great for tourists and all.
Beautiful building with history, however disappointing food.
Food was just okay, service was painfully slow. Well over an hour on a weekday for lunch from the time we were seated until we got our food, and then part of our order was incorrect. Would not recommend, as there are many more, delicious, local cuisine restaurants in the same area.
Very nice surroundings. Servers very polite and attentive. The food was good but nothing to write home about. A bit pricey.
Ordered 2 (3) tacos plates and ice tea for $26.00 before tip.
I would go back go this restaurant.
A visit to Old Town is not complete without a leisurely breakfast on the patio by the fountain. I look forward to my Huevos Rancheros and the serenity and super service that Church Street Cafe delivers each and every time!! Thank you
Incredible food!! Don't be fooled by the small, cafe-like facade-- the place is huge and can sit many people. You can't go wrong with anything you order!
Hmmm, food is standard in my opinion. I was sucked into the great reviews. I was underwhelmed
Love the red chile which is hard to find these days. Good food and nice atmosphere.
I had the taco platter and it was fantastic. The salsa was fresh and tasty . If you ever eaten sopalipillas try theirs. I found them to be light and not doughy. Great food a definite to when your around Old Town .
Do not confuse this with the Temple Street Cafe, this is the Church Street Cafe and that's what it's called. Great coffee and the staff is very nice.
My favorite spot for authentic New Mexican food. Great vegan options too.
Absolutely The WORST Exstremly Over Priced (food?) I've had, and the waiter needed his ass kicked!!!
The salsa was good. Otherwise I wouldn't go back. The waiter was really cool, the food was okay but not great but it was quite pricey and the portions were small. I paid nearly $50 for for 2 kids meals, a sandwich and a poorly served burrito. I left hungry! Not worth the price.

The History of Church Street Cafe
The building that houses Church Street Cafe dates back to the early 1700s when it was built as a hacienda-style home. Over the years, it served as a residence for various families and even housed a brothel at one point. In the 1970s, it was converted into a restaurant by owner Marie Coleman who wanted to create a space where people could come together over good food and conversation.

But what really sets them apart is their famous salsa which has been voted "Best in Albuquerque" multiple times. Made with roasted tomatoes, garlic, onions, cilantro, and just enough heat from green chiles - this salsa is addictive!
In addition to their regular menu items, they also offer daily specials like carne adovada (pork marinated in red chile sauce) or calabacitas (a vegetarian dish made with squash).
Atmosphere & Service
Walking into Church Street Cafe feels like stepping back in time with its adobe walls adorned with colorful artwork and rustic wooden beams overhead. The space is cozy yet spacious enough to accommodate groups both large and small.
But what really makes this place special is its friendly staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Whether you're a regular or visiting for the first time - they treat everyone like family.
