A fantastic church with a place for truly everyone! This congregation is truly transforming the church as a whole. A place for thinking people who wish to wrestle with the challenges of faith and life in a thoughtful community.

You know when a person is a phony hypocritical charlatan snake oil salesman when they cite the Gospel of Matthew 6:19 "19 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal." at the floor of the UMC's GC2019 Special Session,. Knowing that they spend millions of dollars of unnecessary church remodeling as well as a luxurious home for himself and fancy clothes. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all cost.

Although I have attended Resurrection on and off for a number of years, I joined only recently and will serve on missions having the greatest needs. I would like to reply (speaking only for myself ) to those who commented that the church is "too big", or "not biblical," or the funding raised for the new building will lead to "corruption." I worked with and observed mission teams in Haiti shortly after the Earthquake of 2010, and again in 2011. Resurrection is very careful to partner with Haitians and to select effective long-term projects that directly benefit Haitian communities. The church is a good steward of other people's money. (Donations and funds are in good hands, and the levels of accountability are high and public.) Although it isn't always easy to speak directly to Pastor Adam, (20K members,) there are many highly skilled pastors, staff and volunteers who are committed to serving you. I remember being prepped for surgery once and given anesthesia. As I began to drift off, I noticed a pastor holding my hand and praying for me. (I had not known about her visit, and she later confirmed a member had informed her about me.) To those who say Resurrection is "non-biblical," I suggest you read The Beatitudes. Through the deeds of member volunteers, pastors and staff, Resurrection lives every one of them. Below are images of Haitian school children assisted by Resurrection members.

I have met more people and been in small groups than in any church in my
life. Because the church is large we make events, etc. so people can bond. It also has programs for everyone at any age. Bible study is offered in many ways, so a person can pick what they are more comfortable with. There are a large variety of ways to serve.

Love this church. Felt right at home from the first time I walked in the door. My faith has grown more in the last 5 years than it ever has before. Pastor Adam Hamilton likes to tackle the tough subjects that most churches would stay away from. It's always nice to see a church do that! The way he preaches makes you want to come back. We are also a very giving congregation which I love since my wife and I love to help and give back!

Things I Like:

Things I Like:
I became a member of COR about 6 years ago. I've attended the Leawood, West & Downtown locations & watched online.
I've always thought Pastor Adam has done an excellent job in explaining the bible. I feel like I've gotten educated...not preached at.
Pastor Scott at the Downtown location also does a very good job conveying the sermon. The West location...I've only attended once...so I don't have an opinion for that location.

Things I Don't Like:
That I've never even had the opportunity to shake Pastor Adam's hand. After church is over he quickly leaves the sanctuary. I understand that because of the amount people that attend the sevices...if he stood around to shake people's hands...he'd be there until the next service started. That's one thing I find sad about when a church grows to this magnitude...the personal connection can get lost.
I emailed Pastor Adam one time after one of his sermons that really touched me(which I know probably goes to an assistant) because he probably gets bombarded with so many...I never got any response back...not even from an assistant. That was a real disappointment.
That Pastor Adam has became such of a celebrity....it looks as though he a Public Relations person responding to these post.
I haven't attended church in while...the attendance has grown so much at all the services...I just kind of feel like a number.

Things I Could Try & Do:
Try to find a Small Group (which I of find scary)
Find more ways to get/be involved.
Try put myself out there & make some friends

Pastor Adam Hamilton makes that church. People come there to hear his sermons and I know I have heard him say when I've been at services...telling the congregation not to come there for him, but without him...that church would not be what it is today.

Lastly the new sanctuary...is so large, I just feel it will be even harder to feel a personal connection.
It will be like watching Joel Osteen on T.V.

I can t find the words or enough good things to say about how highly I think of this church and Pastor Hamilton. SO many good things are happening in the world because of what God is doing through COR. Blessed are those who serve there and/or call this their church home.

Regarding your response - I clearly remember exactly what Adam said. I sat listening to his every word with my parents by my side. I'm an educated 56 year old man and I heard exactly what he said. His message was crystal clear. I stand by what I heard directly from his mouth. I'll add another concern, my elderly parents have been asked repeatedly for donations over many many yeras to build more and more add-ons to the church. Over the years the church has asked for tens of millions from the congregation and they've felt guilty they couldn't donate more. They gave what they could. Now that they're in their mid 80's their health is failing and they live on a bare minimum fixed income. The church never has reached out to them asking if they need assistance. But the church proudly advertises all the help they offer to communities in surrounding states but they can't take care of one of their own? It's hypocrisy. The faith of this church appears to be wrapped in money. I've seen and heard enough. I'm speaking out because there are needy within the congregation including my parents who worshiped there for decades. Now they listen over the internet because they can't attend in person for health reasons. I don't want another response, I want the church to stop promoting the good they do and actually do some good.

I attended one of Adam's so called wonderful sermons, during which Adam told a story of a visit to a local shopping mall. He stated he saw many young teens all dressed in black and stated he could see in their eyes they had no direction and were lost. I was immediately turned off and nearly stood up to challenge him in front of thousands of his brain dead zombies. I found Adam to be very judgmental. Adam, you can't judge a book by its cover. His comments were not accidental either because I heard several other judgmental comments come from his mouth. He does not represent the true spirit of God in my opinion.

In addition to his judgmental comments, I find it very unappealing that Adam never cancels church service during winter storms. When every other local church cancels service due to dangerous weather, Adam chooses to keep the doors open so he can collect money. Money and growth appear to be more important than the safety of the congregation. When money becomes the foundation of a church, fraud is soon to follow. $81M for what??? Expansion to get more money, right? So the church can donate more, right? Billion of $$$, right? Oh right! And the money goes to Africa, not local? Right! There's thousands of needy starving folks in KC. How about build a huge cafeteria and buy some buses and pick up those needy folks on those winter storm days and bus them into Leawood and feed them by the thousands like Jesus did? Why doesn't the church bring the needy by the thousands every week? Break bread with them, make friends with the less fortunate instead of publish some bs monthly report stating where the money supposively goes. Right, it's Leawood and that wouldn't go over well with Adam's so called congregation.

If I recall, Jesus didnt stand for profit. I believe Adam profits well from his church gig and lives in a beautiful home. I understand he's profited well from being a real estate devolper too. Adam, open your accounting books, serve to lord by donating your salary, bus in the local needy by the thousands weekly and go back to that mall and find those so called lost children and apologize. Aside from that, you've devoloped a Walmart church. Ever hear of Amazon? Guess what happens to >$100M investment once Adsm leaves? Implosion and then the county and city of Leawood tax payers will subsidize this massive eye sore. Leawood is a perfect place for soles like this congregation. Keep donating, more, more, more and don't ever drive to the hood where the real needy reside. Don't you dare bus them in to Leawood. I hope Trump removes the tax exempt status of churches so the country has a 100 year plan and lets see what happens to these Godly folks who tithe.

This is a multiple campus church with locations in; Blue Springs, MO, Leawood, KS, Olathe, KS, and Kansas City, MO. The Senior Pastor (Adam Hamilton) delivers inspirational and non-traditional messages in person at the Leawood Campus and via video to the other campuses. Having come to this church in the last 3 years my faith has been transformed, in part due to Adams' message, he has shown me that Christian can come from any walk of life and hold any beliefs as long as he loves Jesus and loves his/her neighbors and fellow people. With a divergent view on many of the issues facing Christianity today he aims to revitalize the Church. He believes that homosexuality should not only be allowed but also embraced (he has married a gay couple himself), that a women has a right to an abortion, and that all people should be loved regardless of race, gender preference and ethnicity. All people are welcome to attend service and shouldn't feel pressured in any way. If you are looking for a church I cannot recommend this church any more highly.

If ever there was a Church to call home, this is it! Their outreach to the local community is amazing, serving those in need in every aspect. They also serve the international community and those in need. The sermons are enlightening. I leave feeling refreshed!

This is a wonderful church for everyone. Even if you're not "sold" on Christ, big church's, organized religion and so on, this is a place where everyone is truly accepted and you can feel at home.

I became a member of this church after four months of regular attendance because of how good the sermons are, the dedication to the community the church is and how inviting but not oppressive the congregation is.
The inviting open minded and loving characteristics of this church is something I ve come to cherish now for nearly a year.
I ve been to multiple baptist, lutheran, calvanist, non denominational and even penicostal and brotheren churches where as I used to teach eschatology but each of them failed to love their neighbors and walked away from their first love this church here with pastor Adam Hamilton has been a gem.

This is a very nice church. They offer classes for NAMI and many other things. I am not a member and quite honestly don't even go to church but I find this class helpful and am thankful I am able to attend.

I have been attending Resurrection over 20 years and it is an open, loving church. We welcome anyone who wishes to come to service. We have shared services with our Jewish friends, we have many black attendees as well as Ministers on our staff. It really offends me when I read these other reviews about how we don't welcome others; as well as how much money we have. Have they ever heard of the law of 10% return? Our offerings are shared in every needy place I can think of right now: providing play ground equipment for schools that don't have them (only to have them torn down and we put them up again) clothing gifted to children all during the year, gifts for them at Christmas, food delivered to unfortunate familes in Johnson & Jackson counties. We are online in senior residences so the residents that can't get out can have church services. I could go on and on about grief support, employment support. I am disappointed that people go on and on about how we "don't" do any thing with our offerings. I pray they would not let one instance turn them away to wallor in the negative side of life. Just don't get stuck there.....
Don't compare any minister with any other minister. Adam Hamilton just is one that walks his talk. If he earned $50 million a year you can believe he isn't keeping it all himself.

At first, I was very hesitant because of the size of the church. I was looking for something small where I could have a personal relationship with members and the staff. I wondered how could a huge church get to know me and provide personal support if I needed them. To my surprise, COR quickly resolved all of my concerns and completely blew away all preconceived notions regarding large churches. This church is amazing and it now a huge part of my life.

First, it is a church for thinking people to gather, share ideas, and challenge each other to see all sides of an issue. They tackle the difficult topics in an objective and respectful manner that allows all sides to understand the issue from a biblical perspective. They don t judge but instead welcome everyone regardless of their situation.

Their congregational care is AMAZING. A family member of ours became seriously ill and eventually died in hospice. Two or three times per day a lay person (from the Congregational Care Ministry) or one of the pastors would come to see us. They walked with us every step of this difficult journey and then cared for us by providing a wonderful celebration of life ceremony. I could not have asked for anything more than the love and personal care pour out by the pastors and CCMs.

As a man, one of the best things about COR is diversity of their ministries. COR provides unique opportunities to serve that simply don t exist in smaller churches. I can use a chainsaw in their Disaster Response Ministry, I can fix cars for low income families in their Automotive ministry, I can update computers for children, I can use a camera to serve God in their photography ministry, I can restore houses, paint schools, build playgrounds, etc, etc. Whatever your skillset or interest, COR will provide a way for you to serve God with your abilities.

Bottom line: The sermons and music are wonderful but if you really want to get connected join a small group or get involved with one of the ministries. You will be richly blessed and your life will never be the same.
