The hotel is clean with friendly staff. My only compliant is that there is no place for dinner nearby and the hotels restaurant was closed for renovation. The hotel does have a cafe for breakfast since it's not included..

This hotel was a very pleasant surprise. My friend booked it for our trip from Ohio to see a concert at United Center, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I don't know if our room was exactly what some people would call a suite, but there was a nice little partially separated sitting area with a little table. There was a mini fridge and coffee maker but no microwave. Beds were very comfy and bug-free. Bathroom was spotlessly clean. Shower was hot and water pressure was adequate. Soap and shampoo are in dispensers on the wall, you don't get mini individual bottles. It's about time American hotels started doing that. The little bottles are wasteful and not good for the environment. My favorite things were that the hotel is on a relatively quiet street, traffic-wise so it was really easy to get in and out, and the FREE parking! How often do you find that at a big-city hotel anymore??? Your room keycard lets you into the gated parking area behind the hotel. The lobby was clean and attractive. The appearance of the building from outside is neat but a little old-fashioned, although I don't really care about that kind of thing. I go to Chicago once or twice a year for concerts, and this is absolutely the hotel I plan to book next time! I really couldn't ask for anything better.

I have to start by saying that some of the lower reviews about this hotel said that it was dirty, poorly kept, and had a rude staff. Additionally, there were knocks on the neighborhood.

Many of those reviews are a couple of years old (or at least more than a year).

We rolled in about 11:30 on a Thursday night. The gentleman working the desk was funny, polite, and helpful. We were in our room within 10 minutes of arriving, having parked in the lot that is not gated (there are two lots at the hotel). We had tickets to a Cubs game, and as I hadn't been to Chicago since I was a child, I asked what the best way to get to the game was. Of course it's the L, and the station was about six blocks from the hotel. Again, the gal working the desk (she had a hairdo similar to a buzz cut, I'm sorry I didn't get her name) was VERY helpful, and was funny and outgoing in addition.

The next day, my wife and I walked to the train station. The neighborhood does not feel dangerous. It's a neighborhood that feels like it's the next one to be revitalized in Chicago. Less than two blocks east is a neighborhood that feels like it's been gentrified, and about four blocks north, the same is happening. I am a teacher, and the school where I used to work in Lincoln, NE is a more dangerous neighborhood. The neighborhood felt safe, we saw plenty of people out walking dogs.

Our room was huge and clean. The bedding was what one expects at an upscale motel, white, well-tucked in, and having the apperance of what one would expect in a Hampton or something similar.

Overall, this hotel was a great place to stay. When the traffic was low, it was less than a 10 minute drive downtown (TAKE THE DAMN L TRAIN!), the staff was great, and I never felt unsafe. Yes, the train across the street made noise, but there are white noise apps for your phone or tablet, and that seemed to make a difference for us.

I am very glad we chose to stay at this hotel.

The hotel was very nice and the staff were very professional and helpful. I was here visiting guests staying in town. The parking lot was safe and secure. The guest I was visiting was given an extra blanket with no issues. The room the guests I was visiting appeared very nice and also very clean.

If you need an affordable option close to the convention center this place is a good, no frills option. Parking is free, the staff are friendly and the rooms are clean. I was able to walk to convention center every day. The neighborhood is safe. Consider De Michael Market and cafe just down street - No restaurant or gift shop on site. The fitness center is clean and the equipment works/has what most would want. I will book again.

Not a swanky downtown hotel by any means. But, it's an affordable alternative if you're pinchin' pennies. Easy cab or Uber to McCormick Place, restaurants, bars etc. Don't plan on walking. Super friendly, fun and professional staff. The rooms are clean on the surface, but don't look too closely. Overall a comparitvly fair value. Bring your own shampoo (trust me!). There's a deli/small restaurant in the hotel that serves breakfast and lunch. The deli's owner is local, awesome, and makes (from scratch) the best yogurt I've ever had. Unless I hit the jackpot, I'll go back to this hotel. Even if I don't, I'll stop by the deli some yummy yogurt!

Great experience being at Chicago South Loop Hotel, very good price, very clean everything at bathroom and room, bathtub very nice and clean, quite satisfied with the service and the hotel location close to everything in Chicago, Illinois. Parking lot is private at no extra cost.

Mostly clean hotel and rooms. The edges of the rooms at baseboards and corners could be vacuumed as well as the closet between guests, but overall very nice. Super comfortable beds. Desk staff always courteous and very helpful. Other than the sirens and the Ell, the rooms are quiet. Thick walls so you can't hear your neighbors, if any.

Parking is hard to find so when you find a spot in the actual hotel parking just leave your car there. I always check the sheets when I enter a hotel room and sure enough i found a couple of blood stains in the sheets. I had to call two different times to ask for new sheets and found some previous guest perfumes in the coushions. The housekeeping only took the trash out, they didnt take the soiled towels or put clean ones in. The location is pretty good if your on a budget. No continental breakfast or pools but thats probably why its so cheap. I dont get why my room had one night stand for a queen bed. The heater took abut 15-20 minutes to work. Shuttle was convient but they take cash only so if your going back and forth alot throughput the day make sure you save money on the atm fees and take out large amount of cash.

Decent sized rooms no microwave no view and mediocre customer service served with a side of snarky remarks regarding your ability to pay my deposit. Overall it's not a place for people who want to take pics of their room and make your friends heels click. Because of the location they bump up prices yet to those who didn't know they're located just 100 f th away from a loose income housing unit of about 50,000 people at least. So location location location

This is a "you get what you pay for" hotel... But that's exactly what I was expecting. It was a a cheap and available hotel in Chicago. No frills, but great service from the staff. Things were clean, but not in the greatest part of town. Left my tablet behind in the room after checkout and got a call from the staff letting me know that it was left in the room and that I could pick it up at the front desk. Would definitely recommend it when you are on a budget and need to stay near downtown Chicago

Location was slightly away from downtown and had to go through downtown for traveling anywhere via public transport. The bus station was right across the street, which was very convenient. The queen room with 2 beds is huge. We found the rooms clean. The staff was helpful.

Missed my train so Amtrak put me up for the night. Admittedly when I heard "free hotel" I braced myself for a cheap experience. I was very pleasantly surprised!!! Beautiful place with a wonderful, professional lady at the counter! Room was super comfy and clean. I will pay to stay here again!!

It is within the tourist area of Chicago so it is convenient. The hotel is not a great luxury but it is decent enough. Cleansed. The habitations are so wide. It has two parking areas included. The only thing that I had problems. The remote control did not work and a button on the cable tuner (channel increment). The room has a minibar. The hotel is located in a convenient area. You have two parking lot which is included in the rate. The rooms have a plenty of space. Have a fridge. Clean room The only thing should care is the TV service. The remote control was not working.

Cozy

Nice clean hotel this was our second time staying here, friendly staff, clean rooms. The exercise room is very nice. Free parking for the day and only a mile or so from down town. Easy to leave the car and get a ride into the city.

Good location, Great lobby, nice staff, nice tube but the room was subpar for a luxury like hotel. There was a lot of little things wrong that made a not all that stay. The coffee maker had an used packet from before we checked in until the day we checked out. One garage can in the room located in restroom. Do not desturb sign on the door but worker still knocked once & then to proceed to come immediately after but I caught her before she came all the way in. She apologized & left fresh towels. I left & returned to see that the room has not been refreshed. Wear & tear furniture.Key cards for entry kept stop working. No complete parking direction. Bar restaurant closed for remodeling. Breakfast decided to change closing time an hour early last minute so we missed out. Vending machine out of most drinks.I grew up around this area was expecting it to be way better hotel that was torn down for this one to be build. Very disappointed. It took a lot to rank a three instead of two star.

Our room was dirty - bathtub had red splatters on it & was not clean inside either, fridge had food on the door & smelled, fingernails on the floor (GROSS!), dirty clothes left in the closet! The bed was so uncomfortable!! No fan in the bathroom & windows won't open... No complementary breakfast. We had terrible cell signal & wifi signal kept going in an out (5th floor). Free parking was nice & the staff was all friendly, but we will not be going back. You get what you pay for and we will gladly pay more for a nicer hotel that is closer to downtown.

The shower water was cold and they did not refill my coffee supplies when I stayed for 2 nights. Was told breakfast was included but when I got there the cafe was closed and was not opening for the entire day. Very disappointed.

The hotel is well maintained! Very clean, rooms are very spacious! The staff are friendly and helpful! Rates are very reasonable and I Love that the parking is free which is practically unheard of in Chicago! The location is good. The reason for 4 stars and the only two complaints I have is it was noisy. Both things are completely out of the hotels control I realize. I personally could have slept through it but my 2 year old could not, making it a less than restful night. If traveling with a youngster who is easily awoke you may want to look for a quieter location. 1. They are close to Mercy hospital so we heard sirens on and off all night as well as air traffic. 2. A neighboring room had their TV blasting all night long and it wasn t shut off until around 5am.

The rooms were nice and clean and spacious. the shower was really nice and had a deep soak tub free parking and the beds weren't horribly uncomfortable either. I didn't hear the sirens but my boyfriend got woke up a few times. apparently the hotel is located a few blocks away from the fire station or a hospital I'm not sure which but if you're a light sleeper that might be an issue for you. The only issue we had was our towels smelled like burnt something which isn't really bad considering the location. Staff was super friendly

I don't know if the hotel is still up and running or under New Management but I did have a terrible experience the fool was not the best the service was terrible I waited for almost 3 hours for a cocktail from the bar and they need bartender forget what I asked him to make and also I never got back correct change I believe the bartender pocketed the change I was supposed to receive that I believe they have to do a better job with management . Hopefully they can have new ownership and get it together

I stayed here because my boyfriend's company put them up here for an event in the city. The hotel is out of the way from downtown, but there is a bus stop right across the street and travel is pretty easy here in general. The staff is very friendly and the lobby is clean. The room was clean, maybe a little outdated. Overall, it's a nice hotel outside of downtown, even if it's a little old and outdated.

Stayed at the Chicago South Loop hotel on Christmas and I would recommend this hotel to everyone. The staff was courteous and friendly. Because I arrived at the hotel so late she gave me a late checkout with no additional charge. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. The parking was included in the rates which made my stay that much sweeter. I look forward to staying there again.
Sincerely
Sabrina Smith
