Had a great time but we are sad to hear the news about the monorail being closed down. We have problems with walking and need to be able to use this to get around the zoo. We hope that they can get another way of getting around a road train would be helpful and give them an income in place of losing their money as the monorail brings a lot of money to the zoo

Chester Zoo is one of Britain's principal zoos, playing host to much much more than a public attraction. The zoo is reputed for its expertise in many fields, and the site houses a range of specialized environments to suits a wide variety of the animal kingdom's diversity. The zoo is a major attraction, not only to the northwest, but as a national asset.

Love the zoo. The Exhibit builds are great designs allowing a balanced view + animal privacy.
Such a tragedy about the fire but great to see everywhere except the dome is open.
Parking was orderly + well done.
Not too busy but freezing so some animals were curled up sleeping but we still saw loads.
I really like the new smaller exhibits between the 'big ones'
The Lego displays are great!

It's nigh impossible to find anything bad to say about Chester Zoo. People often say the ticket price is high but considering you can spend the whole day there and only just see everything makes it more than worth it.
The staff and keepers are exceptionally knowledable and happy to talk about their animals.
The Zoo also puts a lot of money towards research and conservation efforts.
The gift shop has a wide variety of products with varying prices.
Plenty of places around to get food with reasonable prices and plenty of space to sit down.
If you are ever looking for a day out the Zoo should certainly be at or near the top of your list.

I am sceptical when it comes to the reopening of places in the middle of a pandemic, but CZ was really struggling to keep running as a conservational establishment given the rules.

They've reopened on a limited basis. Their protocols are sound, they've been properly thought through. Of course I'm gutted there were plenty of habitats out of bounds, but it isn't safe to have them be used by the public right now, so they're dead right.

The bits we could access were excellently set up for social distancing, hand cleaning, etc. The staff were on the ball and placed in the right places to make sure people were being safe.

If you can pre book a ticket, then do. It's a great place that needs our support.

Excellent day out with lots to see and do. The bats and otters were a big hit, but there is so much more. It was a very hot day and we took advantage of the souvenir cups with free refills!

Visited loads over the years. Most recently when it reopened after lockdown. Disappointed some attractions weren't open but understandable. One way system in place and a few restaurants

Great fun day out with 2 toddlers, who loved seeing all the animals. We felt safe with all the measures taken to make it COVID safe, plenty of social distancing and hand sanitiser stations.

Such a brilliant day out. I've been coming here since I was a very small child. It's been quite a few years since I was last there. And the changes and improvements that they have made are quite remarkable. Most importantly the place feels like its main mission is conservation of the animals in their care.
It's a wonderful place for all.

A lovely event for children and adults alike. We booked a slot for 8 adults and 4 kids. The kids were given their own lantern to light the way at the start of the stroll around the zoo. Performers, dressed and lit up as animals, enchanted the kids mimicking the animal's behavior. Half way round there were food stalls. I would recommend the Christmas burrito, christmas dinner wrapped in a giant yorkshire, delicious. A dining tent provided seating and a bar was available selling hot/cold soft/alcohol. Thoroughly enjoyed, highly recommend.

Had two visits at Chester Zoo now and have loved them both! Have to say it can be pricy to get in but if you book online ahead of time you can save yourself rather a lot of money! Just about managed to see all the animals in the park despite arriving early as the area the zoo covers is rather large. There were also lots of different food choices available which weren t extortionately priced which is not what I expected but there are lots of grassy areas and picnic benches around if you wanted to bring your own food. The highlight of the day for me was the butterfly enclosure as I was lucky enough to hold some of the most beautiful butterflies I d ever seen! Would definitely recommend everyone seeing this zoo!

The zoo is a great space with lots to see and many different species. It's set in beautiful grounds and a grand day out. My only issue is the lack of signage so it can be tricky to navigate. We didn't have a map but even those that did that we spoke to said the maps were hard to work out where you were in relation to the animals. I definitely think they need to add more as it would make it much easier

Amazing place, love it. You can go back again and again and keep finding new parts that they keep developing. Staff are great with children too explaining interesting facts about the animals!

Really good day out. Adaptions for covid are good. It's a shame so many of the features are closed as this does reduce the amount of time here. However, the outdoor enclosures are well worth a visit. We need to support the zoo!

Great family day out. Lots of different viewing areas for the different areas of the park. Great to see a wide variety of animals that are endangered in the wild due to poaching. Chester Zoo do a great job at caring for these animals. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable on the wide variety of animals in the zoo and where they are located.

Although there are lots of new rules around the park, this doesn't impact on the venue itself. The zoo is immaculately clean and all the staff walk around with a smile on their face and interact with the public. Everyone was so friendly and it's clear to see the animals are all looked after so well. Highly recommend but bring comfortable shoes and a jacket because the park is big and requires a lot of walking and it truly is a fully day out. Excellent day. Thank you Chester zoo

If you think you can't afford to pay for the tickets, the elephants and warthogs area is open to the visitors for free.

It's a huge zoo and definitely worth a visit. My favourite part was the bat walk through. There's so many of them!
I had never soon Cheetahs before either. I loved going here and I hope to go back.

Excellent Day Out. Plenty of animals to be seen, with a few recent arrivals in evidence. Plenty of places to eat, with a fair selection and at quite reasonable prices. Well worth a visit. Would recommend getting there early, as the zoo gets very busy. Especially when the schools are on their holidays.

As far as zoos go, we're lucky to have such a great one here.

The animals are well looked after, and they have plenty of space to roam and be happy. Some zoos have that business feel; here, you can tell they genuinely care about their jobs and the animals.

The park is always clean, and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend a visit to anybody visiting nearby. There's a reason it's considered world leading! A brilliant day out for any age.

Nice zoo the gardens were not as lovely as they were many years ago( when I was young ) lot of walking. But I did find the map we were given on arrival was not very good. It did help a bit but I found you had to work things out yourself.

Really worth a visit. Did over 10000 steps was rather worn out but had a great day. Lots to see, I was very impressed with the enclosures, lots of room for the animals and so natural to each animal. Will certainly go again, and recommend the zoo to all ages. The elephants were really worth a visit, saw some baby elephants playing in mud,

Really huge ground to cover and nice time to have with family. To be honest strangely not many animals were out. Only saw 1 lion, could be because of warm weather though. Boat ride is nice and peaceful and takes you through tiger sanctuary but again didn't see any. Take food with you and cool box and nice surroundings to have family picnic

After wanting to visit this zoo for many years we finally took the plunge and drove the 200 miles to get there. What a wonderful zoo, we spent almost 7 hours here and managed to get round every exhibit. Each staff member we met on our journey around the zoo were helpful and informative about the animals. I would quite happily return every week if I could

Great day out with the family. The Zoo has a great layout and is very nice to walk around. There are so many animals you can easily spend all day here looking around. The only downside I found was the price of food and drinks. While understand they need to make money and was OK with the fish & chip and burger prices, to charge 7.95 for a single slice of pizza is a little much! On the plus side they sell Cheshire Ice Cream Farm ice cream and this is very reasonably priced and delicious!

Totally recommend a day out here, but advise to taking a picnic and some money for ice cream :-)

Took The 4 Hour Drive Up From London, No Regrets Whatsoever. The Zoo Is Huge And Takes A While To Get Around, It's Great That They Have So Many Stalls For Snacks/Lunch All Around The Zoo. The Animals Have Adequate Amounts Of Space And Are Very Well Looked After. Great Day Out!! Beautiful Zoo!!!
