A fantastic day out with the family, no problems with parking or getting around with a buggy. Booked our tickets in advance which made getting in very easy. We took a picnic and had no problem finding a table to eat at. A really fun day.

I am not big fan of zoo, but my daughter want to go to see animals.. The zoo is big well maintained also crowded and not cheap for whole family.. The giraffe where already inside the cage whit no food.. Am not impressed, is better to see animals in real environment!
Had a fab time at Chester zoo. Lots of interesting animals to see and it was well laid out so we didn't miss anything. Make sure you allow the whole day to see everything!
Very large area of zoo to walk around to see the animals, there is a monorail train service but when we were there one of the trains broke down so it was shut down for the rest of the day. If you have trouble in walking then the zoo is not for you. If you are of a fit nature then this zoo is a good walk round zoo.
There are so many different species of animals and the restaurants have amazing food. There are also lots of snack places along the way and playgrounds for children.
Great zoo. There were baby meerkats! I've been going to zoos for years and have never seen that. The butterfly enclosure was also a big hit with the kids. Definitely too many people though. And quite a few exhibits were still closed due to COVID. Seems like they are still figuring it all out.
It just keeps getting better! I have been there many times and each time exhibits have been improved. There are plenty of toilets and food stalls (hugely important when you have a toddler!) There are also plenty of areas to sit and eat picnics or snacks. All staff were friendly and ready to chat. My favourite as always was the bats but my toddler's was definitely the giraffes! Will definitely go again.
A great day out for all the family. The animals appear to be very well looked after and plenty to see and do for the whole day. A great day out when the weather is nice.
Very busy. They have done a great job on safety front, BUT, queuing for Lions, Penguin's Butterflies and other 'normal' animals takes the edge off a visit to a zoo. More like a theme park and rides! Shame, but has to be said, felt a bit exposed with volume of people!
Great facilities and currently taking covid 19 very seriously with lots of hand sanitisers and markings to seperate customers. My daughter had a great 1st birthday
Been members for 5 years and it's such a great place to go just for a walk never mind the star attractions. Visited last week to see the new lion enclosure which is so much more engaging for the pack. It was raining on the day which in itself isn't an issue but we parked on a grass/mud rutted field which is an overflow car park and may be tricky for those less mobile but not a Blue Badge holder who could park nearer the entrance.
This is just a wonderful day out- particularly for a family group. Make the most of it by arriving early, planning your tour etc and if having a picnic lunch, fine. If eating at one of the restaurants... eat early or later as they get full 12-1.30.
Great Day out but some of the food was very expensive. Get there early to get a parking space as it's gets very busy very quickly and wear comfortable shows, there's a lot of walking.
Great very big place did not see alot of the animals not sure if its a covid thing . But did see enough for the 2hour journey and very strange to walk round you can get lost easily only thing is all this keep apart was alot that did not seem to under stand this and pushing in and basically sitting on your lap to get too the animals but thats not the zoo fault free parking to so that was great . Will go back but will wait for things to go back to some normality
Great to see this open again, some sites were shut , but hey, they've struggled the last few months, we enjoyed the day, and I was glad to give something towards the animals welfare
Lots of animals hard to see them all it's that big still as good as ever and it's the only zoo I've been to that you arnt bullied into going into the truck shops with the kids on the way out.
As a person who has been in the premises on a visit in the past as a young child, all i can say is that I have been blown away by the experience, the first impression I have to say is that I am blown away by the experience. Even when a gorilla threw a medium sized stone at me. And to see all the animals in the different pens. It is a good place to visit for any family to take on a day visit.
And ladies and gentlemen i have to say that in the present time when we are all ordered to stay at home. It's just sweet and pleasant to be able to look at the different animals in there pens via a on line video \ computer link. Where you can see the antics of the different animals on a day by day viewing.
Had a really wonderful day. Very clean, tidy and well laid out. The variety of animals was fabulous, and they seemed very well catered for. Plenty of helpful, friendly staff around, and excellent facilities. Loved the elephants and red pandas x
Huge zoo with lots of unusual animals, great enclosures for them. Also loved the little boat ride. Only bad point is there's too much to see in one day!
Everytime I go to Chester Zoo I'm wowed by the incredible animals, how big their enclosures are and the zoo's / staffs passion for their animals and conservation. Would highly recommend going for the day, you will not be disappointed!
I adore animals, however, zoos have always been something I've tired to avoid as I've never been sure of how 'humane' they truly are. After I was invited to Chester zoo with my boyfriend's family, I was hesitant, but instead of avoiding it, I wanted to research the true ethics of it. Looking into it and knowing the history of it (thanks to the book our zoo) I decided that I would happily go along! Seemingly everything in the cafe was recyclable and the funds went to helping the animals, the enclosures were spacious and none of the animals seemed distressed. The staff were informative and really seemed to enjoy their job. Overall a wonderful place to go and I hope they continue with their help and preservation of the animals!
Disappointed the foliage and planting in most enclosures though great for the animals means they know where to hide and we have to take your word that theirs even an animal in their. The place is an absolute maiz and the map's are next to useless unless you happen to have a compass with you.
Loved Chester zoo, very informative and a great place for children to learn while having fun. My only issue was the zoo map which for some reason my husband and I couldn't get to grips with and he is usually spot on
We have visited this zoo a few times. Many good memories. One of our favourite UK zoos. Lots to see and do for the children. I would definitely recommend getting the annual zoo pass.
This place is amazing. We are yearly members of Ty cross. We got to come here as part of our membership. Unbelievable how good and well maintained the enclosures are.
Nice zoo alot of areas are shut due to covid. Que to get into the ape enclosure was really long. Alot of the animal were not out due to the weather didnt see any giraffes this obviously isn't the zoos fault. Would like to go back when the slow boats are operational as well which at the moment they are not
Large zoological site famous for TV appearances. Plenty of free parking although entrance is not cheap. Better to buy online to save a few pounds. Usually lots to see but a winter visit is limited as the animals dislike the cold. New baby elephant just 4 days old was a big attraction. Lots and lots of walking involved. Highlights are the Humboult penguins that play to their audience, the ape house and the aquarium. Plenty of places to eat and drink. Needs a lot of time to visit everything properly.
We drove a long way with 2 young lads that had their trip all planned, what they were going to see etc. They were disappointed with the whole trip we saw in total ten animals. This should be made clearer on the website not sone of the enclosures were closed but nearly all of them.
Yeah its okay I mean with this lock down happening the one way systems bring you around to go back on yourself most of the time but its better than dudley zoo
I've been a member for 6 years now and everytime I go the zoo still puts a smile on my face. They really care about the animals, and that's clear in all they do. Definitely worth a visit, or 2 or 3!
Always enjoy a visit to Chester Zoo, disappointed today, paid for advanced monorail tickets for the family only to find just two running today and an 1 hour wait. Managed half of the circuit but that was all due to queues, refunds should be given if this is the case.
Yes Chester zoo is a great place for families to go. There are a wide range of animals (although they do lack some of the favourite zoo animals such as pandas and polar bears). If you have a choice of day I would recommend not going on a rainy day as many of the animals are inside or not viable to you.
Best zoo ive seen in this country, got close to most of the animals. It's a big place so difficult to see everything in 1 day. Food very expensive, best take a packed lunch. Saw 2 or 3 play areas for kids.
Great place to visit, we have been members for two years and always see something different. Would recommend it highly for anybody wanting a nice day out
