The Brussels Sprouts are my favorite appetizer and the happy hour menu is full of value. As a former bartender, I really appreciate the service that you get at the bar and the attention to detail in the setup. I'm always blown away by the food but its the homey feel that keeps me coming back. My first time at Chef Geoff's, I met Geoff and he was very kind and courteous. You can tell he really cares about the dining experience.

I ordered the $13.95 Belgian waffle. Its appearance was ok, but it arrived cold enough that it was unable to melt my pre-softened "butter". The bacon was also nearly raw. I prefer chewy bacon, but this was undercooked enough to cause a pause.
In the end, I couldn't finish breakfast. This wasn't an issue with my appetite, but by inability to stomach anymore.

Food is hit or miss. Sriracha cauliflower is good, avoid the brussels sprouts. Salads are also a good bet. Don't go if you're in a rush, service is extremely slow.

I ate here with the intention of skipping the meal on my flight by eating first. This was a waste of time and money because I only ate about 10% of what was put in front of me.
I ordered chicken wings that when eaten had the dried up and chewy texture that told me these had been in the oven for many many hours. they were covered in a thick thick sauce which was almost impossible to get off your hands, and the restuarant didnt even have any wipes, just dry tissues that just got stuck to your hands.
I ordered a chicken burger that turned out to be a chicken sandwich which had a thin slice of chicken in the middle with bread about 1-1/2" (3cm) thick on each side. Both were served at the same time so by the time you eat your appetiser your main is cold anyway. Very poor experience in an airport somewhat lacking in any reasonable food outlets in my experience.

Don't waste your time or your money. I waited 25 minutes for a stone cold Belgian waffle and undercooked bacon. Never saw the waitress again (read no coffee refill). Go through the drive through at McDonalds on your way. You will be $15 richer and the food will be better.

One because you can't give zero. Seated and ignored for 15 minutes no drink no eye contact. The staff were more interested in talking amongst themselves than doing their job . Ended up leaving and going to the American tap room where service was awesome. Edit just recieved a reply from chef Geoff's sadly the issue was not staff numbers, it was the staff being more interested in talking and not working.

Very solid local (AU) establishment. Location works well in that area where there is not a ton of options. The food is always well done and the service hits the mark. It's tough to pass up in that vicinity.

Went for restaurant week and mostly enjoyed my experience. The appetizer (Bacon Nachos) was excellent, as was the dessert (Mango Sorbet, Raspberry Sorbet, Bittersweet Chocolate Ice Cream). My only issue was with my entree, the NU Strip. It was cooked perfectly, but the flavor was lacking. Unseasoned, I suppose. It just tasted like... warm meat. The peperonata on top did nothing to enhance the experience. I only ate half and sent the second half home with my dining partner.
Altogether my experience was very good, I was surprised that my entree didn't match the rest of the dining and service excellence.

Good company and good weather. It is very telling...
Good company and good weather. It is very telling that these are the only two good things we can say about our dining experience since they are both outside the control of the restaurant. We had high hopes for this visit, particularly because we rarely have the opportunity to go out to enjoy ourselves. I'm the one that suggested Chef Geoff's on New Mexico Ave as I've enjoyed meals at the Tysons location. Chef Geoff's really let us down.
I ordered the steak which is served with a port wine shallot sauce and blue cheese fondue and requested the cheese sauce on the side. When it arrived, there was a weird-looking orangeish sauce on the side and nothing that looked like cheese sauce. When we finally tracked down the server (as my steak sat, getting cold), she agreed that this didn't look like cheese sauce. While we awaited her return, I tried my steak, and it was extremely dry and tough. When she finally returned with the cheese sauce, I asked about the port wine shallot sauce because the steak didn't seem to have any on it. She first claimed that it was there "around the steak". I said, okay, but it seemed like a lot less sauce than I had had before with the same dish at the Tysons location (you couldn't see any sauce at all). I then tried to salt the meat to pull what flavor I could out of it. Nothing would come out of the salt shaker so I opened it - it was one big clump. That's OK, I thought, I'll get another shaker. I went to an empty table and tried their salt shaker. Same result. So, the next time we saw the waitress, I asked if I could have some salt and explained that I couldn't get any out of the two salt shakers because they were clumps of salt. At that point, she told me that the weird-looking orangeish sauce was the port wine shallot sauce. She indicated that she knew I had not asked for it on the side, that she had placed the order correctly, and the kitchen had made a mistake. However, she did NOT offer to correct the mistake - to us, this is the worst a restaurant can do - you admit the order is in error, but don't offer to correct it. Rather, you expect the customer to live with the kitchen's mistake!
Next, I waited for the server to return with useable salt, as my steak continued to get cold. Finally, I went to another empty table for yet a third salt shaker (the server had taken the first two so I had no ability to try to salvage some salt out of them). The third shaker worked, but by that point my steak was room temperature. I choked down what I could of the dry steak, alternately trying to dip it in the orange sauce/cheese sauce or add salt to it in a vain attempt to salvage some flavor.
Meanwhile, after my request for salt, the server disappeared for half an hour. During our 1.5 hour meal, our server NEVER refilled our water glasses. The drinks we ordered were perhaps the worst that we've had in a restaurant.
We had gone out with high hopes for a rare evening out, away from the kids. We returned home thinking about the worst dining experience we can recall and bitter disappointment.
Oh, in case you're wondering, the server never returned with the salt.

I sent this info to Chef Geoff's. In response, David Lynch, the General Manager, sent me an email offering to send a gift card if I provided my address, and asking that I let him know when I return. That was on June 12. I responded the same day with my address, and that I would consider returning because of his nice response.
It's now June 23, and I still have not received the promised gift card. So much for follow-through after being notified of a terrible experience - It seems like Chef Geoff's doesn't really care about customers after all.

I was really disappointed with the service I got when I was traveling through IAD. The staff placed me in the middle of two tables, when I asked to be placed somewhere else and I was ignored. From that point on, everything was a downwards spiral. The chocolate peanut butter stout was not that great, and the nachos made me feel sick. I noticed the service was not only bad for me, but for most people at the time.

With so many places in Washington DC to choose from, this restaurant rose to the top of my list. This is a very warm and friendly place to go and hang out with the staff and enjoy a really great evening meal. The bartenders made you feel right at home. Erin in particular was especially a shining star and she made my evening special just by her friendly attitude. Everything from the brussel sprouts the salmon the cheesecake dessert were cooked very professionally. I understand the salmon burger in particular is a homerun. Right across the street from American University, it will definitely be a repeat on my list.

Had a flight to Tampa Friday evening. Arrived early, wife and I went up to bar ordered two beers , no seats available . So we go over to seating area with tables. Seated ourselves and waitress comes over and asked if we bought beers at the bar. I replied yes no seats were available . She replied that the seating area was different from the bar. I told her again there were no seats available. Very rude !! We went back to bartender and asked it we were able to sit at the section with tables and he said yes , asked why and we told him we were told by the Hostess and waitress it was a different section. He apologized . We asked the waitress what her name was and she just walked away. Very rude. So if you order a libation from the bar area and go over to tables be careful .

They have fantastic happy hour deals, and if you haven't had a super mug yet, you're missing out.
Their regular entrees can be on the expensive side so I would recommend ordering off their happy hour menu if you're trying to save money

The food is good and the service is friendly and helpful. If I had ordered something different, the review might have been higher. I ordered the Spicy Grilled Chicken Sandwich, and it was tasty, but in no way could it be classified as even the tiniest bit spicy. In addition, it only lasted as a sandwich through half of the meal. After eating a few bites, the bun essentially disintegrated, making it difficult to hold. The others in my party were satisfied with their orders and overall it was not a bad experience, but the "spicy chicken sandwich" should be renamed.
