Checkers is simply the best.

Checkers is simply the best.
Best produce
Best meat
Best prices
Best staff
The only downside is shimmying past other people awkwardly in the narrow middle aisle.

I like this place for location, the fact that one can get in and out with two weeks worth of groceries in 20 minutes, and their prices aren't terrible.

A few things are a bit off. Their organizational paradigm is a bit confusing, and I find some of their fresh produce doesn't seem to last as long as if I had gone to Walmart.

Hands down best selection and prices of produce and meat. Lots of parking. Good fuel saver program. You bag your own groceries, which is ok by me. I buy all personal hygiene products somewhere else but for food and even laundry detergent and cleaning supplies they have good deals. Recommend this store highly.

Great place for groceries isles are large and even when the store is full everything flows really good and never seems crowded. Excellent produce and a nice natural foods selection. Also very large meat selection. In house bakery that makes fresh bread. This is by far my favorite grocery store.

I really like this place. The only real problem is I feel a little claustrophobic when I go in. The isles are just so close and compact and it gives me anxiety. It's a really nice store it is. It's just to small and the lights are so dim.

Food from around the Western world, Mexico to Poland, and some Eastern goodies, including South Korea and Japan. Plus amazing produce, like star fruit and a variety of tomatoes I have never seen. To top it off, there are local products, including produce. And, the prices are very competitive. This is the Lawrence version of Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, but less expensive and very unassuming.

Checkers has always been a great place for meat and produce, but the addition of coffee and a gluten free bakery makes them stand out against other stores in town. They also tend to do a better job keeping things in stock.

Checkers has the lowest prices on everything it sells, a great selection, and a grocery and fuel discount card program. It is the only grocery store in Lawrence worth going to if you are comfortable shopping with cost-wise and poor people.

Lawrence grocery stores seem to appeal to customer types.

Sprouts and Natural Groceries appeal to shoppers who eat with only one hand (because they are busy patting themselves on the back with the other hand). Admittedly, Sprouts has great sale prices and some unique items (ex. elk, bison, and kangaroo meat)

Dillons and HyVee appeal to suckers who like to get great sale prices on overpriced items (20% off a 160% markup) and free tanks of gas with their own money (10 cents off per gallon when buying an item markedup $1.25). I've walked out of both of these stores after being appalled by the cost of items. I've walked out of HyVee after being disgusted that the whole store smelled like old fish rotting in the fish market.

WalMart appeals to shoppers who like the convenience of grocery and socks in the same building. I don't know if anyone goes to WalMart just for groceries.

Aldi appeals to shoppers who want a few select items for cheap.

Target doesn't appeal to anyone. The grocery section is a ghost town.

Checkers appeals to cost-wise, poor, and college student shoppers. The store is dated but clean. The selection includes bulk items, organics, high quality fruit, good meat, local foods, mexican and asian foods, Krispy Kreme, local baked goods, local meats and dairy, and pretty much anything you would want.

Went in on Sunday afternoon and saw 2 employees not wearing a mask, one of them was a manager... Other than that- Checkers has always been my favorite store. All the best stuff is cheaper at checkers! The produce department is unbeatable.

Most affordable groceries in Lawrence, but their fuel rewards program is not so good as Dillon's. Overall nice supermarket for affordable prices. Remember to install their app, you keep getting good offers all the time.

Good. Cheap. No fuss. Save-A-Lot with a different name. Usually have what were looking for. Prices are reasonable on most items. Some things they carry, you can find for cheaper at other places. Bit of a strange layout. It works though. Have only been a few times but, would go back. Off brand and name brand items. Wish their bulk food section was bigger.

Checkers is the best grocery store in Lawrence. You can find the most diverse options there and if you can't find it, you can ask them for it and you'll likely see it the next time you shop there!

Love this place. This is where I like to buy meat. Good quality, great prices! They also have some good sales on their produce. The produce lasted us much longer than the produce at Aldi. We will continue to shop here!
