I always love this grocery store.
Many locally produced fresh produce. Unexpected low price.

Good prices on a lot of items. Definitely worth checking out if you like to save money

I found it to be over priced on almost every item I looked at.

The cashier had to check price for another customer I waited I waited and then I went to another line same there I need a price on tomatoes no price on them tomatoes so the cashier figure what price to put on there bad service they need to put prices on their products

This place has values (you can see their stances in solidarity if you care to research), which is beyond groovy. Checkers is an institution for people on a budget or folks just looking to save their money, and they actually have a pretty surprising selection, even if you're vegetarian (bulk foods is great for that). I even caught myself buying produce that came from a friend's farm a few months back, so they have some local suppliers too! I typically don't buy much meat here but that is a personal preference, and I hear they treat their employees fairly. They have a points plan that you can utilize too.

No frills, grocery shopping but very good selection and hard to beat prices. Good selection of fresh fruits & vegetables. Can't beat 19c/lb bananas on Thursdays.

I personally love their section of foods from all around the world, with a good variety and good prices. They probably have everything you need for your average grocery list as well.

We do a lot of our shopping at Checkers because we just like the place I trust their meats the vegetables are pretty good they're fresh and a full abundance of it the workers are nice the cashiers are also nice

Meat department is great for hard to find items and large cuts. I've never seen any prime meats but the produce and ethnic food choices are certainly a plus.

my only complaint is why have a fresh donut bakery and at 7:30 am all the shelves are empty. i know alot of people that have been frustrated with this issue that started about a year ago. why make them if their not ready for the public til 9-10 am. why not make cheesebugers or something.

I find everything I want, from organic bulk to local meats. And the ethnic sections are very well stocked. Great prices too.

Checkers is cool. I love how they stock local brands and some more smaller company products. I just prefer Dillon's.

Great produce and great prices on meat. Sadly the people working behind the meat counter know nothing about the cuts they're putting out in the case. I asked a question about some beef and all the guy could do was look at the label and say, "I don't know, it doesn't say."

This store got mice and birds on the food. Dust thicker than bark on a tree. Building has been through alot and that jeopardizes the product people consume. Just keep that in mind while shopping there.

Thursday the bananas are $.19 a lb. So I stopped by and got them and some other fresh fruit. They have good produce. I like the people there.

This is the best grocery store in Lawrence, hands down. Selection is great produce quality is excellent. Prices are reasonable. I don't live in town any longer, but still go here when visiting.

Checkers is the best place in Lawrence for value. Produce is the best of anywhere outside of the farmer's market. They also play the best music!

Checkers is a large supermarket with just about everything the chain-markets have plus more. Things are typically a little cheaper, probably not worth the savings if you were only after a couple items. But switch to Checkers for a month and you'll definitely see the savings. The store has plenty of room to move around and is always stocked well. The produce section is wonderful. Go on Thursdays for $0.19/lb bananas! Would be five stars, but this store never seems as clean as the local Hy-Vee or one of the newer Dillon's. I still would come here over the other places any day.

A little more disorganized than Dillon s and Targets. But Asian food can be improved with more variety.

Checkers is the cheapest place to shop in Lawrence! I like that they are inclusive to Asian and Mexican foods as well.
